September 30, 2020 Charles Gilbert Thompson Oct. 09, 1935 — Sept. 27, 2020 Charles Gilbert Thompson, 84, of Odon, and who formerly lived at Switz City for 52 years, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born on Oct. 9, 1935, in Springville, to Rathmiel and Vangie (Neely) Thompson. Charles married his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn A. (Goad) Thompson, on May 21, 1955. Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran. He served on the Switz City Town Board and many years on the Switz City Fire Department. Charles worked as a self-employed brick mason for several years. He loved living his last years at Parkview Village Christian Care in Odon and was blessed with many friendships there. Family left to cherish the memory of Charles include his wife, Carolyn Thompson; one daughter, Carla (Bruce) Porter of Switz City; grandson, Charles (Kimberly) Porter of Newberry; granddaughter, Jennifer (Luke) Hancock of Sandborn; great-grandchildren, Jeffrie Porter, Casey Porter, Ruby Hancock, Wesley Porter and Annie Hancock; one brother, Don Thompson; three sisters, Pauline Coursey, Martha Phillips and Jeana (Darrell) Bosell, all of Springville; and sisters-in-law, Norma Coursey of Springville and Nova Thompson of Bedford. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy, Hobert, Delmar and Dallas; and two brothers in infancy. September 29, 2020 Robert Carroll Harrison Sept. 30, 1924 — Sept. 27, 2020 Robert Carroll Harrison age 95, of Loogootee, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 in Odon, Indiana. He was born September 30, 1924 in Medora, Indiana to Frank and Iva (Reed) Harrison. He married Margaret J. McAfee on May 13, 1944 and she preceded him in death. He attended Purdue University and Indiana University, was manager of Farm Bureau Insurance offices in Washington and Loogootee, and was store manager of Home Outfitters in Washington. Robert was a member of the Loogootee United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and was Veteran of the United States Army. Survivors include granddaughters, Lori Moore of Elletsville, Stacy Harrison-King of Bedford and Andrea Harrison of Bedford; grandsons, Darren (Bernadette) Goins of Indianapolis, Ronald Harrison of Bedford, Nathan Harrison of Loogootee and Eric Harrison of Bloomington. Several great and great-great grandchildren also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Linda Winegar; two sons, Ronald Harrison and Derek Harrison; and one grandson, Ronnie Allen. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday at the Loogootee United Methodist Church with Pastor Colleen Harden officiating. Burial will be in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens in Bedford. Ellis, 78, of Bedford, passed away at 1:11 pm on Monday, September 28, 2020 in the presence of his loving family at his residence. Born May 17, 1942 in Rock Springs, WY, he was the son of Francis J. and Gladys L. (Staffin) Ellis. He married Clair Wilson on June 6, 1964 and she survives. A recent transplant from Fairfield, Iowa, he twice retired as a civil engineer from the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Iowa Army National Guard with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Army. His oft repeated advice for his grandsons and the public at large was, “Be good and drive safe!” Survivors include his wife, Clair, of Bedford; daughter, Susan (Ellis) Juhl and husband, Matt; grandsons, Alexander and Alaric Juhl. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com September 28, 2020 Arthur Dee Hinshaw Jr. Feb. 17, 1932 — Sept. 08, 2020 On Sept. 8, 2020, our Dad, Arthur Dee Hinshaw Jr., passed away at his home in Marion, TX. He was born in Williams, Indiana, to Arthur Dee and Elizabeth Hinshaw on Feb. 17, 1932. He grew up in Williams, attending school, playing basketball and fishing at the Williams Dam. He married Mildred Hardwick and started his Air Force career. He served 22 years 22 months, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. During his service, he traveled to Alaska, Illinois, Korea, Vietnam and Texas. He was a big state guy, enjoying fishing and exploring in Alaska and Texas. He continued to pursue his college classes, obtaining his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science. He later married Kim Huynh, residing in Texas. In 2014 he purchased a vacation home in Williams, Indiana, to reminisce, fish and visit friends. He always looked forward to visiting the Williams Dam where he spent much of his childhood. Dad never seemed at peace without a dog by his side, sometimes as many as three. A true animal love to the end. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Dee Sr. and Elizabeth; and his big sister Betty Hammersley, an accomplished nurse. Also by his beloved pets Bacall, Lola, Hank, Ross, Minnie, Gracie and Katie, all Boston Terriers. He leaves behind Mike (Laurel) and daughters Marissa and Katie, Anchorage AK; David and sons Randy and Steven, Anchorage, AK; Brian (Peggy), daughter Nikki and son Ryan, Tempe, AZ; Diane and son David Ryan, Soldotna, AK; Anh Davis (Steve) and daughter Ellie, Wichita, KS; and his beloved pets, Penny and Nickel. Bonnie graduated from Bedford High School in 1974 and later attended Ivy Tech in order to become an LPN. She enjoyed crocheting, journaling, music and also spending time in Frostproof, Florida. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery in Orleans. September 27, 2020 Jack W. Ellis Jan. 20, 1932 — Sept. 15, 2020 Jack W. Ellis, aged 88, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on September 15, 2020. He is now tasting the sweet aroma of Heaven, enveloped in joy, and rejoicing with the saints that went before him. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Martha Ellis, his sons Richard (Kelli) Ellis and Steven (Dori) Ellis, his grandchildren Sarah (Michael) Thaman, Ryan (Katie) Ellis and great-grandchildren Brady, Ivy and Cameron Thaman, and many nieces and nephews who he loved and cherished. Jack was born in Orleans, Indiana in 1932 to the late Noble and Ruth Ellis. His early life was spent in Orleans, Indiana until he left to a attend college at Purdue University. His entrepreneurial spirit brought him to Bloomington in the early 1960’s, from Bedford where he co-owned Edgewood Pharmacy and also helped launch The Edgewood Clinic/Bedford Medical Center. He had many varying business interests in the community, including commercial real estate. Kirkwood Pharmacy was owned and operated by him and his wife for many years. Kirkwood Pharmacy was very much a family atmosphere where each customer was treated kindly and gently. Jack was a constant encourager of small business owners in downtown Bloomington, but particularly on Kirkwood. He understood the challenges of being a small business owner and took delight in seeing the downtown business community grow. Jack was a licensed real estate broker and real estate investor. Jack and Martha were founding members of Evangelical Community Church, where they enjoyed many lifelong friendships. Jack’s faith in Jesus Christ was important to him and he and Martha served the church in many capacities. They could always be relied upon to assist in any way needed within the congregation and with outreach to the community. They took delight in serving others and did so often. As a friend described them, “You are my true examples of salt and light. There is no job too difficult for you to undertake. No person in need is ever overlooked by you. Many times I have seen you both working together on humble jobs where no recognition is given and often at your own expense. Your unselfish commitment through the years has been a real witness to me and all who know you.” This sentiment perfectly sums up their hearts for others. Jack and Martha also took the opportunity to travel with their friends and family, whether it was taking a train across Canada, walking up a glacier in Alaska, walking through the tulips in Amsterdam and visiting Normandy and Paris. He loved traveling to Florida for vacations. He and Martha loved the opportunity to take long walks on the beach and listen to the surf. He rarely missed the Indianapolis 500 (attending over 45 races) or watching Indiana Hoosier basketball games. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Charles Rose, who went above and beyond in his care for Jack, which our family will be forever grateful; to the staff at Cedarhurst of Bloomington, who cared for Jack with such compassion and kindness. We would also like to express our deep appreciation and thankfulness to the Reed families, for their care for Jack, their many visits, walks and for bringing such joy into his life. Memories of Jack and condolences to his family may be given at www.thefuneralchapel.net September 26, 2020 Jack Dean Cummings July 19, 1929 — Sept. 24, 2020 Jack Dean Cummings, 91, of Bedford passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020 at his residence. Born July 19, 1929 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Olin “Jack” and Josephine (Samuelson) Cummings. He married Mary Rose Johnson on March 11, 1949 at the First Church of God in Bedford, by Pastor Melvin Miller, and she survives. He was a graduate of the Oolitic High School with the class of 1947 where he played basketball. Later he was a basketball referee and baseball umpire for thirty-four years. He was a buyer at General Motors for thirty-four years. He was awarded the General Motors Award for Excellence in Community Activities. He served two terms as the Lawrence County Auditor and was a member of the Lawrence County Council and Republican Precinct Committeeman in Shawswick 15A for several years. He was currently on the Dunn Hospital Foundation Board. He was a life-long member of the First Church of God where he taught Sunday School and Faith-N-Action. His family was his life. He loved and enjoyed greatly the kids’ basketball, baseball and racing. He will be remembered for always being the life of the party. He always gave 100 % and will be missed by all. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com September 25, 2020 Wendell Dale Bailey Feb. 01, 1950 — Sept. 21, 2020 Wendell Dale Bailey was taken from this world in a tragic cycle accident in Brown County, IN on September 21st. He was born in Lawrence County February 1, 1950 to Jesse Paul and P. Louise (Chambers) Bailey. In June 1969 he married the love of his life, Beverly Case. This year marked their 51st wedding anniversary. He served six years in the Indiana National Guard. Wendell was a 1968 graduate of Heltonville High School where he excelled in academics and in all available athletics: basketball, baseball, track and cross country. After graduation, he continued to play with local softball and basketball teams for several years. You would NEVER hear him brag about it but the Bailey Athletic Story didn’t stop there. He and Beverly proudly watched the BNL Stars teams win state basketball championships in 1990 with son Damon, daughter Courtney in 1991, granddaughters Alexa and Loren in 2013 & 2014. Grandson Cade Nolan played football at BNL and Brayton Bailey was an outstanding basketball player. To say Wendell enjoyed sports would not be an exaggeration but he also spent many hours watching granddaughter’s cheer competitions and dance recitals. His life revolved around family. And if you were Wendell’s friend, you were family. He was one of a kind, a true treasure. Wendell worked as supervisor over transportation for the North Lawrence School Corporation, the Monroe County Community School Corporation and for the City of Bloomington. After retirement, he worked part time for Hawkins-Bailey Warehouse. Wendell, like his dad, could fix anything and loved to tinker and to keep busy. Wendell is survived by wife Beverly, son Damon Bailey and wife Stacey; daughter Courtney Nolan and husband, Shane; grandchildren Alexa (Logan) McCullough, Loren Bailey, Cade Nolan and Brayton Bailey; Brothers Phil (Becky) Bailey, Gary ‘Jake’ (Jan) Bailey, and Greg Bailey. He is also survived by aunts Marjorie Bartlett & Velma Chambers, in-laws and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. All will miss him dearly. Born September 27, 1955 in Bedford, he was the son of Karl and Rheadawn (Browning) Klumpp, Jr. Steven was working at General Motors with 45 years of service and was a member of UAW Local No. 440. He was a 44 year member of Sons of American Legion Post No. 250, ABATE of Indiana, a board member of Lawrence County Indiana Bikers (Toys for Tots), lifetime member and former board member of White River Humane Society, and lifetime member of HOGG. Steven enjoyed riding motorcycles and being with family and friends. He liked staying busy and enjoyed working and tinkering in his garage. Survivors include his lifetime partner, Judy K. September 24, 2020 Donald Guthrie Sept. 13, 1937 — Sept. 21, 2020 Donald Guthrie, 83, of Medora, passed away peacefully on Sept. 21, 2020, at Hoosier Christian Village with his family by his side. He was 83 years old. Donald entered this life on Sept. 13, 1937, in Sparksville, Indiana. He was fourth oldest to the loving parents of Floyd and Nellie (Daulton) Guthrie. On July 20, 1957, Donald was united to Mary Rose (Guthrie) Guthrie. This union of 62 years was blessed with a son, Troy. Don retired from Cummins Engine Company after 40 years. Don was a member Medora United Methodist Church, and a member of Medora Masonic Lodge 328, where he served as a Past-Master, and a member of the York Rite. He loved going hunting and fishing. He was a loving father and grandfather to Rebecca and Mitchell. He leaves behind a legacy of love to his family: a son, Troy Guthrie and his wife Teresa of Washington, IN; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Blanton and her husband Bennett of Bristol, TN, and Mitchell Guthrie of Camp Pendleton, CA. Don was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Christina Robison; and four brothers, Henry Guthrie, Floyd Guthrie Jr., Thomas Guthrie and Earl Guthrie. Dudkowski, 78, of Plainfield, died at home Sept. 20, 2020, following a long battle with cardiovascular disease. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on April 16, 1942, to the late Sam A. and Clara Rose (Corey) Dudkowski. Sam was raised in Indianapolis and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, where his father was a beloved teacher and administrator. Though his career in electro-mechanical technology began at the Naval Avionics Facility in Indianapolis, the outdoorsman transferred to the Crane Naval Weapons Support Center in southern Indiana, where he spent his free time fishing, hunting, Jeeping and farming. He studied at Purdue University, the University of Wisconsin, and Indiana Vocational Technical College (Ivy Tech). After 23 years at Crane, Sam retired early and headed to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, taking his hobbies to the next level while working as a docent at the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Chippewa County. He eventually returned to Indiana to be closer to his daughters and their families, living in the Cloverdale area where he excelled in poker and NFL gambling. Great Lakes fishing, however, remained his specialty. Survivors include brother Donald Dudkowski (Cindy); daughters, Tina Lamb (Mark), Debra Wilson (Dave) and Angela Stalker (Harold); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He retired from General Motors with 30 years of employment, Orange County Sheriff Reserve, Medical Center, Orange County and Ross Ambulance Services. He was a member of UAW Local 440, 50-year member of the Mitchell Masonic Lodge #228, Mitchell Fire Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Merit Board, Lawrenceport Cemetery Association and graduated from Orleans High School, class of 1958. Charles was born July 12, 1926, in Hoopestan, Illinois, and was the son of the late Jesse M. and Minne (Davis) Gardner. Charles was an Army Veteran of World War II, a member of Bethel Apostolic Church, and was a self-employed Concrete Finisher. He married Luella Jean (Martin) Gardner on May 10, 1947, and she preceded him in death in 2010. A graduate of Mitchell High School, she worked with her dad at L&M Oil Company, Bedford Trucking and Kern Trucking before retiring. She married Richard Mosier Sept. 9, 1972, and he survives. She married the love of her life, Clifford Emmons and they would have celebrated sixty-six years together on October 16th. Frances loved her family and enjoyed cooking, camping, sewing, and drawing. She was a homemaker and member of the Restoration Church of the Nazarene in Bedford. Liebfred Sr., 84, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, at his residence. Born Dec. 11, 1935, in Norwood, New York, he was the last of three sons of Frank M. and Helen G. (Wheeler) Liebfred. He married Joanne Lalone of Carthage, New York, and she preceded him in death in 2012. He married Shirley Tuper, and she preceded him in death. With only a seventh grade education,, Richard joined the Army at 20 and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, with the 126th Tank Company. He was trained to be a class A mechanic and did a tour in Germany. While in Germany he was a Motor Officer assigned to the 5th Psychological Operations Battalion in Panzer Kaserne. Richard was honorably discharged in 1959 after a three year enlistment and returned home to Norwood, where he married Joannne. In March of 1962 after two years of working in a bowling factory, Richard started working at the new GM plant in Massena, New York as a die cast machine operator. He continued with GM and the UAW Labor Union across the country to Indiana in 1989, retiring after nearly 40 years. Richard had a good retirement. He and his girlfriend, Rosetta, had wonderful times together. He loved to hunt, fish, and mow the yard. He really enjoyed the company of his friends. Richard was an avid collector of boats and older vehicles. He was content to drive around on his Harley, BMW, or his 1989 Suzuki Sidekick, that he painted camo himself. He had a knack with motors and had contracts with Ski-Doo and Yamaha to modify snowmobiles when he was younger. He even raced them and won. Many days were spent tinkering away in the garage, keeping everything in good working order. Richard loved his dogs and children. He made many friends along his journey, and he will be deeply missed. His survivors include children, Kathy Merrick of Mitchell, Deborah Rubert and husband Felix of Harker Heights, Texas, Kelley Burkum and husband Tim of Potsdam, New York, and Richard Liebfred Jr of Winthrop, New York; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and four stepchildren from a later marriage to Shirley. He was 77. Charles Ray Douglas entered this life on June 6, 1943, in Jellico, Tennessee. He was the loving son of the late Hobert Hardin Douglas and Bonnie (Coffman) Douglas Neal. Charlie was united in marriage to Rebecca (Neal) Douglas on Dec. 27, 1984. With his union, he was blessed with four children, Darla, Travis, Charles H. and Brad. Charlie was their “Hero.” Charlie was a loving father and grandfather. He loved being an avid outdoorsman. He could be found cutting fire wood, tending to his garden, squirrel hunting, fishing, tending to his livestock, or watching the National Geographic Channel and the History Channel. He loved following politics, boxing, and wrestling. He was a Member of the United Autoworker’s Union and the American Legion Gillen Post 33 of Bedford. He was a successful Tool and Die Maker for the GM Foundry for 25 years, then he continued his trade at Crane Hill Machinery. Maxine Carolyn (Booher) Allen Maxine Carolyn (Booher) Allen was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky, on Aug. 5, 1937, as the daughter of James Edward and Ovie Dell (Davidson) Booher. Maxine grew up on a tobacco farm where her parents were sharecroppers. She married Edward Melton and worked at a sewing factory in Albany, Kentucky. Maxine and Edward had two daughters, Becky and Linda, and later moved to Guthrie. Maxine and Edward divorced, and Maxine later married Larry Allen Sr. on April 6, 1980. Prior to Larry’s death in 1983, Larry and Maxine had a son. Maxine began working at Indiana University in food service and moved to Bloomington. She went on to work at Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at IU. Maxine always took pride in her work, and she loved the girls at ZTA. Maxine spent years volunteering in Boy Scouts and attending Eastview Church of the Nazarene in Bloomington. Above all, She had indefatigable love of her family. Maxine is survived by her three children, Rebecca (Greg) Eads, Linda (Marvin) Roll and Larry (Jen Pearl) Allen Jr.; four grandchildren, Sheila (Travis) Terrell, Daniel (Brittany) Roll, Brandon (Amanda) Eads and Kara (Nick) Brummett; and her great-great-grandchildren, Dalton, Dylon, Gage, Gracelyn, Griffin, Shockey, Braxton, Kenadee and J.R. She also worked for American Printing House for the Blind and worked for ten years as the secretary for her husband during his early years as a Baptist minister. She worked for ten years as the Post Office Supervisor at Judson College in Elgin, IL and retired from there in 1988. She then moved back to Indiana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Society and served as their president for several years. Louise was active in the local AARP and the American Baptist Women’s Missionary Society for several years until she was unable to attend for health reasons. She enjoyed writing poetry and had several of her poems published and was the recipient of the Golden Awards. Born August 19, 1945 in Lee Co., VA, she was the daughter of John Hatfield and Elizabeth (Fleenor) Hobson. She married Rannel Cheek, Jr. on November 12, 1965 and he survives. She graduated from Bedford High School with the class of 1964 and excelled in basketball. She was a homemaker for 55 years. She attended Stonegate Faith Center and Park Place Church of God. She was a partner of the Kenneth Copeland Ministries and enjoyed listening to Jerry Savelle, Kenneth Hagin, Jesse Duplantis, Kenneth Copeland, T.L. Osborne and many others. She loved her western shows. She and her husband were church camp directors, Sunday School Teachers and taught many Bible Studies. Wilma was a mighty woman of God who loved God and her family with her whole heart. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to use that voice to sing praises to the Lord. She was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma in 1978 and began chemotherapy treatments. She got a hold of The Word of God and began to believe Him for her total healing and complete wholeness and decided that she wasn’t going to continue with the chemotherapy treatments any longer. God miraculously healed her and made her whole with no sign of the cancer to ever return. She shared her testimony of God’s healing to anyone who would listen and witnessed to countless others by blessing them with a daily devotional book called, “From Faith To Faith”. Her reward in Heaven is sure to be great because she was truly a covenant woman. The son of Joseph Durward True, Sr. and Hazel Irene (Todd) True, Joe was born in Orleans, Indiana. Joe’s father, Joseph “Bud” D. True, Sr. owned a poultry business. Joe, his parents, and sisters, Nighel and Connie, all moved to Bedford when he was five. The family rented a house on 22nd street for a year and then bought a house on R street, later moving to M street. Joe attended Stalker elementary school. Joe had a paper route, one of many jobs he would have during his youth. He knew he wanted to be an architect after his first drafting class in junior high. Joe attended Bedford High School and played on the baseball and basketball teams. The 1948 Bedford high school basketball team was ranked first in the state but lost in an upset at sectionals. Joe graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a degree in architecture, and his first job out of college was in Indianapolis with Lennox, Mathews, Simmons and Ford. Later he took a position with SIECO, Southern Indiana Engineering Company based out of Columbus Indiana. When SIECO opened an office in Bloomington, he volunteered to work there. SIECO rented office space in the basement of the Kirkwood Manor building downtown where SOMA coffee is currently located. Joe then took a position with Indiana University Architect’s Office where he oversaw the construction of many of the buildings on the IU Bloomington campus and IU regional Campuses. On the side, he had a thirty-plus year career as an architect and designed buildings for businesses and residential homes throughout Bloomington and southern Indiana. He and Gerry owned a house boat with two other families on Lake Monroe and enjoyed having friends and family out on the boat. Joe was an avid golfer and received a life time membership to the IU golf course for his retirement. On July 18, 1980, Joe had a hole in one on hole number 7 at the IU golf course. Again, on August 25, 1985, Joe had a hole in one on hole number 15 at Cascades golf course in Bloomington. He influenced the lives of his grandchildren with his love of golf and music, especially teaching golf to anyone who wanted to learn. After retiring from IU in 1994, he oversaw the expansion and renovation of the Monroe County Public Library which was completed in 1997. Joe and Gerry loved Hilton Head SC, they spent many weeks there every spring and fall after his retirement. He was a founding member and the president of their timeshare board of directors and would often go early to the board meetings to meet other members to get in a round of golf. Always a joker, Joe enjoyed telling the timeshare developer, whose last name is “Trew,” that he spelled his name wrong. There are many things to admire about Joe. He worked hard but always had time for family. He taught us that if you really put your mind to something, anything is possible. He loved being outdoors whether he was golfing or working in the yard. Joe was a closet comedian, a joke teller, and a champion hugger. He was above all a family man who adored his wife, who was also his high school sweetheart. He loved and was close to his children. The buttons of his shirt popped with pride for his grandchildren and he supported their endeavors throughout his life. He and Gerry attended every game, recital or event that they could possibly get to. Joe will be missed by all who met him, as a man who talked to everyone, who could make an old friend laugh and a stranger smile. We will all try to follow the example he set. He was a 1951 graduate of Huron High School, a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ and attended the Orleans Church of Christ. He was a devoted husband and father. Born on Sept. 28, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of Francis “Frank” and Mildred Litkenhous. He was married to Caroline S. Crane for 35 years, and she died in 2001. He married Sylvia “Sunny” Frazier in 2010, and she survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Linda (Kevin) Diviney, of White Lake, Michigan; his son Michael (Kim) Litkenhous of Lake City, Florida; two sisters, Claudia (Kenneth) Wienke of Asheville, North Carolina, and Paula (Clifford) Pence of Aurora, Colorado; five granddaughters; and a stepdaughter, Sherry (Sam) Tyler; as well as many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He graduated from Eastern High School in Louisville, then went on to graduate with a Mechanical Engineering degree from University of Louisville where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and competed on the swim team all four years. He worked at GM Central Foundry/Powertrain as an Industrial Engineer in Bedford for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of Kiwanis, serving a term as their Lt. Governor of the Buffalo Trace division. He served as the local Superintendent of the National Model Railroaders Association. He was a member of the Bedford Little Theater. He served in the National Guard. He enjoyed photography, traveling and trains, sometimes all at the same time. There will be no visitation or service at this time.
