Shelia Ann Havill-Mills, 68, of Bedford, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at the IU Health Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.
Shelia was born Nov. 16, 1950, in Madisonville, Kentucky, and was the daughter of Conrad Jones and Betty D. (Nelson) Woodruff, and the adopted daughter of Allen Dean Woodruff. She was a graduate of Benjamin Bosse High School in Evansville and was retired from the medical field.
Family was most important to Shelia. Whether it be attending her children’s sporting events when they were younger to traveling to Florida to see them as adults, she enjoyed her time with them. She loved animals, especially her dogs. She was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed good food and good wine.
Survivors include her husband, Richard E. Mills of Bedford; two sons, Eric D. (Stacey) Havill of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., and David Ryan Havill of Sarasota, Fla.; daughter, Ashley (Keith) Paynter of Sarasota, Fla.; her mother, Betty D. Woodruff of Evansville; step-son, William Bradley Mills of Bedford; two step-daughters, Natalie Dyan Shelton of Bedford and Stephanie Lynn (Monte) Meier of Greenwood. Also surviving are two sisters, Deborah Lynn (Rick) Haire and Melissa Kay (Kenny) Ford, both of Evansville; and brother, Allen Dean (Sherry) Woodruff II, also of Evansville, along with several nieces and nephews.
Shelia was preceded in death by her father, Allen Dean Woodruff, grandson, Lucas David Paynter, and step-sister, Belinda Woodruff.
Services for Shelia will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Allen Dean Woodruff III will officiate the service and burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 2, 2018, from 2-6 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, from 12 p.m. until service time at The Funeral Chapel.

Bradford Foster

Dr. Bradford Strong Foster, age 85, of Petoskey, Michigan, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, from natural causes after a heart procedure. Born Dec. 23, 1932, in Genesee County, Michigan, and raised in Charlevoix, Michigan, he was the son of the late Bradford Vane Foster and Alfreda Taylor (Strong) Foster. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Danny Foster and brothers Jerry Foster and Richard Foster.
Brad was a medical doctor and General Practitioner in Petoskey for many years in private practice and at the Lockwood MacDonald Hospital. He also practiced in Bedford as a Family Practitioner at the Bedford Regional Medical Center and as an occupational health Physician at General Motors Central Foundry.
He was a long-time member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Petoskey and Bedford, where he was very active in various leadership capacities and community-focused activities for many years. Several civic organizations were important to him. In particular, the Masonic Lodge and Kiwanis Club of Petoskey, where Brad and Hugh Winnell installed thousands of 911 emergency address signs throughout Northern Michigan. Brad placed a high value in developing personal and professional relationships and is remembered as a selfless, caring and compassionate individual. Many also recall his sense of humor. His children and grandchildren particularly acknowledge the positive values and life lessons they were able to learn by watching his daily activities.
Brad is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce Ilene (Wyma) Foster. They met in college and are both graduates of the University of Michigan. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Nancy Foster of Hessel, Michigan, and Beryl Haisma of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is also survived by his children Mike (Nancy) Foster of Bedford; Tom (Jackie) Foster of Kendallville; Bob (Jean) Foster of Muskegon, Michigan; Anne (Rick Jorgensen, deceased) Foster of Petoskey, Michigan; and Janice (Tim) Swanson of Gibson City, Illinois. He was particularly proud of his grandchildren and is survived by Josh (Nicole) Foster of Belgrade, Montana; Andrew (Kim) Foster of Marysville, Washington; Bryan (Katie) Foster of Brooklyn, New York; Elizabeth (Madhuram) Ribeiro of Petoskey; Katie (Michael) Houlmont of Petoskey; Jamie Foster of Kendallville; Nicholas Maragioglio of Petoskey; Joanna Foster of Kendallville; Samantha Foster of Muskegon; Noah Swanson of Gibson City; Nathaniel Foster of Muskegon; Danielle Foster of Kendallville; Jesse Swanson of Gibson City; Rosetta Foster of Muskegon; Emma Swanson of Gibson City; Steffanie Foster of Muskegon; and Christina Foster of Muskegon.
Funeral services will be held on Dec. 1, 2018, at First Christian Church in Petoskey at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jeff Watton officiating. Born May 23, 1992, he was the son of Charles A. and Sherry L. (Horner) Brazzell. He loved fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his mother, Sherry L. Brazzell and companion, Ed Reynolds, of Orleans; his father, Charles A. Brazzell and wife, Donna J. Mr. Robert Eugene “Bob” Grubb Sr. 78, of Orleans, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Mitchell Manor Health Facility.
Robert was born May 26, 1940, in Mitchell, Indiana, the son of the late William E. and Grace Harris Grubb.
Family and friends may gather at Hague Funeral Home on Friday after 11 a.m. until time of service. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hague Funeral Home, Medora. Burial will follow at Dixon Chapel Cemetery, with full military honors.
Robert was a great family man who provided for his family. He worked for an auto dealership as the body repair man for many years. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
On September 6, 1980, he married Connie McPherson in Bedford.
He is survived by his children: Robert E. Grubb Jr., Tony (Laurie) Grubb, Richard McPherson, Steven (Jinny) Grubb, Tamala (James) Bush, Canda (Garris) Hillenburg, siblings: Randall Grubb, Nancy Mundy, Rebecca Oldham and Sue (Curt) Schuler.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Janice, second wife Connie, daughter, Paula Adcock, brother, James Grubb.

Born May 24, 1930, in Marion, Ill., she was the daughter of Arthur Wilson and Frances Viola (Williams) Throgmorton. She married Robert A. Webb Sr. on July 1, 1983, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1989. She retired from RCA in Bloomington in 1989 and was a member of the New Hope Community Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Butler, of Franklin; a grandson, Christopher Andrew Butler, of Bedford; four step-children, Robert Allen Webb Jr., Debbie Craig, Donna Morgan and Lori Webb; four step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Martha Lacy, Lillie Lagler and Thelma Holderfield; and two brothers, Gaithel Throgmorton and Dwayne Throgmorton.

Luther Charles “LC” Kern was born in Bedford, Indiana, on May 7, 1948, and passed away unexpectedly at the age of 70 due to complications from diabetes on November 17, 2018. He graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1966 and proceeded to graduate from Indiana University where he played football.
While he lived in many different cities, he always called Fayetteville home and chose to retire here in 2007. He served in several service organizations including Rotary, Fayetteville Community Lions Club and the Elks Club as well as attended First Baptist Church in Bedford.
LC is survived by his wife Linda, aunt Guyeula Bundy Kern, sister Katherine “Kitty” Warren (Jay), three children, Kristen Short (Robert), Alexander Kern (Sarah) and Megann Beck (Jeremy) and two grandsons Jackson and Henry, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James G. Kern and Rosemary Lytton Kern, brother Clay Jordan Kern and nephew Clint Egger.
Visitation and memorial services will be held Saturday, December 1, at First Baptist Church, Bedford, 1 p.m. until the service hour at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of LC to First Baptist Church or Fayetteville Community Lions Club.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker, loved making quilts and painting murals in store windows, reading poetry and sewing.
Christina was an U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of the Bride of Christ Fellowship in Mitchell and the Mitchell American Legion Post No. 250.

George attended BNL High School. He worked in construction for RF Contracting in Bedford, and he attended Tabernacle of Grace Church in Bedford.
Survivors include his children, Selena Thornton, Lakayla Thornton, Audrey Thornton, Tiedika Hunt, George Hunt, Tajuan Hunt, Sawyer and Xavier; and three sisters, Cindy Morgan, Marisha Stannard and Rowena Potts.

Janice Kay King, 78, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at her residence.
Born July 29, 1940, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Ralph Earl and Eva Louise (Mikels) Meadows. She married Robert H. King March 23, 1957, and he preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2015.
Janice had been employed at RCA and was manager at Elm Park Apartments.
She was a member of the Bedford Free Methodist Church and attended New Hope Christian Church in Paoli. She had been a member of the Bedford Bowling League and enjoyed going to French Lick and the casino.
Survivors include her children, Sherrie Egan of Mitchell and Robert Earl (Gretchen) King of Mitchell; grandchildren, Kayla (Brandon) Hall, Abraham King, Lorelai King, Paul (Elisha) Lawyer and Michael (Amanda) Lawyer; great-grandchildren, Gracelyn Hall, Ellie Rae Hall and several other great grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Roger Meadows of Gray, Kentucky, Debbie Meadows of Bedford and Rhea Dawn Schaffer of Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Roanna J. Reynolds, 92, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at Mitchell Manor.
Born March 20, 1926, in Rabbitsville, she was the daughter of Dearl Edward and Thelma Lucille (Edwards) Cooper. She married Elgan Reynolds Dec. 16, 1943, and he preceded her in death July 24, 2006.
Roanna was a homemaker and loved farming. She was of the Christian faith, and was a Red Cross Gray Lady. Everyone knew her as a feisty, spunky lady who was always willing to help a neighbor.
Survivors include her children, Connie Ruth Stoll of Loogootee, Dearl C. Reynolds of Mitchell, Elana Reynolds of Mitchell, and Michelle Porter of Orleans; grandchildren raised in the home, Jill (Reynolds) Saman of Moorpark, California, and Brian Reynolds of Bedford; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter; and sisters, Lavon Reynolds of Mitchell and Joyce Trafton of Lakeland, Florida.
Her parents; husband; son, Ronald Wayne Reynolds; grandson, Dearl Reynolds II; and siblings, Thelma Connerley, Wayne Cooper and Archie Cooper, preceded her in death.

Glen “Mac” McCleery, 67, of Brownstown, passed away Nov. 16, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born June 5, 1951, in Scottsburg, he was the son of Lloyd McCleery and Lois (Stewart) Traveny. He married Deena Fluharty May 27, 2011, and she survives.
He was a retired welder from Crane NWSC and a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Dive Christian Church, the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 and was a First Responder for the Shawswick Fire Department.
He loved to sing, fellowship and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his companion of 17 years, Mary Williams, daughter of Ronnie and Donna Williams of Mitchell; a son, Michael Lee Jarvis and one daughter, Amber Michelle, both of Mitchell; three grandchildren; his mother, Glenda Jarvis of Orleans; two brothers, Tony Jarvis of Orleans and Mark Jarvis of Bedford; and one sister, Lora Lea Daugherty of Orleans.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Jarvis of Anderson.

Mabel Loueeta Henderson, 93, of Bedford, passed away at her residence at 7:09 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018.
Born on Aug. 25, 1925, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Volney Kern and Grace (Hall) Kern. Mabel attended Fayetteville High School, and on her graduation day of April 14, she married William J. Henderson, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2012.
Mabel attended Old Union Church for many years. She was a true Christian throughout her life. She loved all people, was kind, helpful, loving to all, and would always put others before herself. After her marriage, she worked a short while at Fines Shirt Factory. Then she devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and God. She loved children, and spent everyday caring for them. She was the best mother ever, teaching right from wrong and always spreading love. Mabel was truly faithful throughout her life. She enjoyed flower gardening, and flowers were always abundant at her home. As she became weak and sick, she continued to be the best she could for years. She was a sweet, tough little lady, who will be so-greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are one son, Tom Henderson of Bedford; one daughter, Joyce Burns and her husband, Bill of Williams; five grandsons, Kevin Henderson and his wife Shelly, Josh Henderson, Dusty Henderson, Jamie Henderson and his wife Devin, and Brad Burns and his wife Christy; three granddaughters, Jodi Henderson, Bridget Adams and Brigette Burns; seven great-grandchildren, Haley, Joey, Alex, Mackenzie, Traleigh, Cailey and Nick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Joel Henderson; three brothers, Waldo Kern, Paul Lowell Kern and Olin Kern; and one sister, Elsie Brock.

Mary Jane Coulter, 89, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at 8:54 a.m. at Westview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bedford.
She was born in Bedford on Jan. 15, 1929, to Charles Reynolds and Iva (Srygler) Reynolds. She married James E. Coulter and he preceded her in death.
Mary Jane was a real estate broker and owned Four Star Realty in Bedford for 20 years; she enjoyed crocheting, painting, and drawing; she was quite the artist.
Survivors include her sons, David D. Haley, James S. Coulter and Kerry A. Coulter; brother, William Reynolds; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and one sister.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dive Cemetery in Bedford.

Diana Kay Archer, 71, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at 2:45 a.m. at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
She was born in Bedford on Aug. 2, 1947, to Lowell and Ruth Craig. Diana married Kenneth Archer in 1991, and he survives.
Diana had worked at General Motors and Visteon Ford in Bedford and last worked at Disability Consultants in Bloomington. She was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1965, and she was a professional grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Archer of Bedford; two sons, Robbie Downham of Bedford and Brad (Sutton) Downham of Florida; two stepsons, Rob Archer of South Bend and Ryan Archer of Edinburgh; one brother, Mark “Sparky” Craig of Orleans; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Graham, Devin Downham, Kelsey Downham, Sidney Downham, Miranda Downham, Kaleb Downham, Zach Archer, Lexi Archer, Carly Archer and Maddy Archer; ans six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Graham, Hailey Graham, Evan Rogers, Anthony Downham and Charlotte Downham.

Bonnie J. Sowders, 91, of Bedford, died at 6:22 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 14, 2018, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born May 20, 1927, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of William Andrew and Ethel Pearl (Arthur) Axsom. She married Lloyd Dale Sowders on March 2, 1944, and he preceded her in death in 2010. She was a homemaker and farmer. She was employed at RCA in the 60’s and earlier 70’s. She attended Hilltop Pentecostal Church for many years when her health allowed.
Bonnie was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed watching IU and the Pacers. She especially loved music, reading and writing poetry. She was a wonderful kind, selfless, loving wife and mother.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Sowders of Bedford, Edwin Sowders and wife Janet of Avoca and Curtis Dewey Sowders of Judah; and one daughter, Deborah Clevenger of Ellettsville. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Bonnie was the ninth of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, her parents, brothers Marshall, Harry, Pat, Forrest “Bud,” Hershell Axsom and sisters, Lorene Stogdill, Lola Norman, Pauline Wray and Bernice Norman; and one great-granddaughter Ashley Shepherd.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, at the Hilltop Pentecostal Church with Rev. Ronnie Hinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery. James Robert “Jim” Leahy, 78, of Mitchell, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at Monroe Hospital. He was born on Feb. 24, 1940, in Bedford. He was the son of Robert M. and Mary Elizabeth (Hodges) Leahy.
Jim graduated from Bedford High School. Following graduation, Jim was a veteran of the United States Army, having served until his honorable discharge in 1971. Jim worked as a plumbing contractor, and was vice president of Triangle and Leahy Plumbing and Heating in Bedford.
Jim was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 22 of Bloomington and American Legion Post 18. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and writing poetry. Jim was an avid church goer, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell. Jim’s fondest moments were spent with his children and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his children, Janice (Terry) Barnett, Mary (Stephen) Corry, Kenneth (Tammy) Leahy and Kevin (Patty) Leahy, significant other, Gale Blackwell, grandchildren, Teri Barnett, James Barnett, Emma Corry and Rachael Corry, four great-grandchildren and brother, Jack Leahy.

Ronald Joseph Lucius, 54, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. Ron was born on August 16, 1964, to Ralph and Dorothy Lucius in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Ron started working in his hometown of Tiffin, Ohio in the wholesale industry, where he worked his way up to a sales representative. This ambition led to his job relocation to Bloomington and the pursuit of his bachelor’s degree in business management. He continued his career in pharmaceutical sales, wholesale sales, and concluded as a field insurance agent for the Knights of Columbus.
Ron was a devout Catholic that practiced and preached his infinite faith daily. His smile illuminated any space he entered and he never knew a stranger. He enjoyed being a coach and mentor to his children and the kids of the Bloomington, basketball, softball, cross country, 4-H and the Quarter Horse communities. He had a passion for caring for his farm, where he raised Quarter Horses and cattle. Ron’s spirit and his cowboy charisma will live on, but his presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Teresa; daughter KC Lucius; son Andrew Lucius; his father and mother, Ralph and Dorothy Lucius; his brother Craig (Ellen) Lucius and their daughter Lindsey; and three sisters, Connie (Dan) Nielson and their children Cece, Ben and Mallory; Lisa (Steve) Smith and their son Cody; and Nicki (Matt) Rumschlag and their daughters Samantha and Taylor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Friday Nov. 16 from 5-8 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37.
There will be a party to celebrate Ron’s life after the Mass on Nov. 17 in the St. Charles School Gymnasium. All are welcome.

Leonard Dale Bex, 78, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, in Martin County.
Born April 18, 1940, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Archie and Ida Annice (Dumond) Bex. He married Brenda Kay Simpson on June 12, 1960.
Dale retired from NSWC Crane after 43 years. He graduated from Huron High School in 1958. Dale was a member of a geocaching club. He enjoyed his grandchildren, traveling, tinkering, NASCAR and IU Basketball.

Richard Allen, Sr.

Mr. Richard Allen, Sr., son of the late Doyle E. Luallen and Ella D. (Pritchett) Luallen, was born April 6, 1924 in Lawrence County, Indiana. He attended Needmore High School. He professed his faith in Jesus Christ at Donica Church of God, where he served in various roles, including several years as Chairman of Trustees.
For years he was the Candy Man, giving treats to the children at every service.
He was united in holy matrimony with his lifelong sweetheart, Hazel (Hughes) Allen on March 23, 1943. Nine days later he was drafted and shipped overseas. Nine months and four days later their first son, Richard Allen, Jr. (Dick) was born. Since he was overseas, he did not see his son until years later when the war ended.
Mr. Allen was a 30-year employee of General Motors, retiring in 1978. He was a farmer, owned and maintained rental properties, owned Sofaland Furniture and worked with Hazel in two children’s shops, Tiny Tots Togs and The Playpen. In his spare time, he liked to play with antique cars, especially his 1928 Model A.
With his winning smile and genuine concern for people, he was loved by many. His Christian life was as beautiful as the hay fields he loved so well, and his influence lives on in the lives of those who knew him. He quietly departed this life Thursday Nov. 8, 2018, at Cameron Hall in Canton, Georgia, surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his son, Dick Allen; brothers Jack Allen, Ralph Luallen, Roy “Tooney” Allen; and sister Dorothy (Allen) Faubion.
He is survived by his brother, Herbert Allen. His life will be forever cherished in the lives of his wife, Hazel, son, Greg, six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at the Donica Church of God, 1969 Donica Church Road in Bedford. Mary worked at RCA in Bloomington for 29 years.
She married Vestal Honeycutt on June 29, 1963, and he preceded her in death in 1971. She later married Thomas H. Hungate on May 27, 1977, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2012.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda (Darrell) Young of Bedford; son, Tony (Lucy) Honeycutt of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren, Brent (Heather) Honeycutt of Franklin and Logan Treanor of Bedford; two great-grandchildren, Max and Cecilia Honeycutt; four brothers, Elton (Priscilla) Sipes, George Sipes and Joseph (Linda) Sipes, all of Martin County, and Rick (Becky) Sipes of Tennessee; sister, Frances Nolting of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two brothers, Merle Sipes and Dennis Sipes; sister, Roma Sue Bateman; a daughter, stillborn, Dana Honeycutt; and a grandson, Benjamin Honeycutt.

James A. Beedie, 77, of Bedford, died at 8:49 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born March 13, 1941, in Lawrence County, he was the son of James A. Beedie Sr. and Mary Eileen (Hosea) Beedie. He married Vicky Webb on Nov. 18, 1961, and she survives.
He retired from Otis Elevator in Bloomington and was a member of the Dive Christian Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky of Bedford; a son, Troy Beedie and wife Diana of Vallonia; grandchildren including, Ted’s children, Vanessa and Natasha, Annette’s children, Samantha, Kayla and Cassandra, and Troy’s children, Chase and Chance; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janice Neely and husband, Roger of Oolitic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ted Beedie; a daughter, Annette Brewer; and a brother, Clarence A. “Bud” Beedie.

Zelda Ramsey, 76, of Bedford passed away at 12:50 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at Mitchell Manor.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1942, in Lawrence County to Lawrence England and Mary (Robinson) England. Zelda married Ramon Ramsey on Aug. 7, 1959, in Vicksburg and he survives.
Zelda attended Needmore High School, and was a bookkeeper at Zollman Cadillac in Bedford She attended the Grace Full Gospel Church in Bedford. Zelda loved flower gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Ramon Ramsey of Bedford; daughter, Christina Hardman of Mitchell; son, Ricky Ramsey of Bedford; brother, Larry (Phyllis) England of Bedford; and four grandchildren, Natasha Haines, Joshua Hardman, Destiny Duke and Devon Cassidy.

Born Nov. 29, 1923, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Clarence and Bessie (King) Jackson. She married Leonard William Tincher on Aug. 28, 1959, and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2005.
She retired from M. Fine & Sons in 1974 and was a member of the Faith Mission Church.
Survivors include a stepson, Marion Tincher, of Avoca, a sister, Viola Medlock, of Bedford, two brothers, Charles Jackson of Bedford and Kenneth Jackson, of Leighton, AL, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. William David (Bill) Dickey, former Shoals resident, passed away on the morning of Nov. 10th, 2018, at Gentry Park Senior Living in Bloomington, after a very difficult year of illness.
Bill was born on Jan. 28, 1941, in Indianapolis to Charles A. and Inez P. (Neighbors) Dickey. He attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, graduating in 1958, and remained in Indianapolis until moving to Shoals in 1980. He married Judy Dickey on Jan. 24, 1981, and she preceded him in death in 2017.
Bill was employed by Citizens Gas and Coke Utility for over 45 years, first as a service man, and later in a technical capacity after returning to school and graduating in 1990 from Ivy Tech with Phi Theta Kappa Honors, earning an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology.
Bill was a 38-year member of Shoals Eagles Aerie No. 2442, serving as Past Worthy President and 10-year Secretary and Trustee. He also served the State of Indiana F.O.E. in various offices, becoming Indiana State President in 2013-14 Fraternal Year. He served the Grand Aerie as Central Regional President and as Election Chairman at the Grand Convention. He was nominated to the Indiana Eagles Hall of Fame in 2016. Bill’s passion was fundraising for Eagle Charities throughout the State. He co-founded the Blues Brother Revue and Showtime Security to help raise significant funds. He was most proud of the fundraising work of his and Debbie Staley’s State Project for Camp Riley. This project raised $250,000 and the endowment created from this will sponsor five campers every year at Camp Riley, in perpetuity.
Bill was the ultimate entertainer, a talented singer, and a guitar and keyboard player. He played in numerous bands beginning in his early 20’s, in the Indianapolis night club circuit, until his early 60’s, in and around Southern Indiana, and during that time played everything from Rock and Roll to Funk to Country. He enjoyed karaoke as well, and blew everyone away with his antics on stage. Hand Bill a microphone and he could really get a crowd going! At family gatherings, it was a given that Bill would play guitar and sing, and his mother, her seven beautiful sisters, and many cousins would get in on the act. Oh, the harmonies that would come from those sing-a-longs!
Bill is survived by his children, Diana Matthews-Summerton (Larry) of Bedford, Linda Machura (Frank) of Portage, Teresa Dickey of Indianapolis, Paula Wainwright of Plainfield and William D. Dickey II of Indianapolis; as well as Judy’s beloved children, Pamela Baker (Brent) of Washington, Bradley Howell (Lana) of Montgomery and Mary (Pfettscher) Reese (Mike) of Evansville. All of these children combined provided Bill and Judy with a legacy of 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
In addition to the love of his life, Judy; he was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Carolyn Greenan (Bill); as well as many other great friends and members of his extended family.
There should be a rowdy game of Euchre or 500 Rummy going on in Heaven right now, along with a lot of laughter, singing and dancing that were common-place when everyone got together in this life.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the service on Wednesday. There will be a F.O.E. Memorial Service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
The Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals will be in charge of the arrangements. Philip J. Guthrie, 68, of Bedford, died at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018, at his residence.
Born February 2, 1950, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Clyde and Esther Lucille “Betty” (Kimbley) Guthrie. He married Jewel Breckenridge and she survives. He was a graduate of Shawswick High School with the class of 1968. He retired from General Electric after thirty-four years of service and was a life-long farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the Indiana National Guard after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Mundell Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel, of Bedford; three daughters: Jeanette, Janine and Brooke; several grandchildren; and a sister, Clydene Flynn, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 12, at the Mundell Christian Church, with Jerry Wisely and John Wisely officiating. Military rites will be accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33.

Billie Caramel (Myers) Hedrick, 77, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Florida, where she was being treated for injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born June 27, 1941, in Martin County, she was the daughter of William C. and Dorothy (Arvin) Myers. Billie was a member of the Catholic Community of Lawrence County, Indiana, Bedford Hiking Club, and a volunteer member of Florida Hospital Waterman Auxiliary.
She was employed at Cook Incorporated and Bedford Powertrain and retired from Visteon.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a loyal friend and neighbor who will be remembered for her bright smile, quiet strength, feisty spirit, and unending generosity.
Survivors include her children, Scott Hedrick, Madonna Parish and Sherry Wade; grandchildren, Brooke Giorgio and husband Rob and Zachary “Nate” Wade and his wife Sara; great-grandchildren, Olivia Foxworthy, Nicholas, Antonia and Jacob Giorgio and Brinley Wade; sister, Trudy Fuhs and husband Anthony; sister-in-law, Paula Myers; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Erma J. (Benefield) Anderson
Erma J. Anderson, age 83, left this earth for heaven on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Erma was born to Ed and Claudie Benefield in Enigma, Georgia, and raised in Bartow, Florida, where she attended Summerlin High School. Erma moved to Bedford in 1955. She was primarily employed in the Personnel Department at Central Foundry, General Motors Corporation, for 28 years.
Erma and Donald G. “Buck” Anderson, her husband of more than 40 years, moved to Florida in 1995 where they have resided at Villages of Country Creek in Estero and the Tanglewood Community in Sebring, Florida.
Those who knew Erma found her to be outgoing, fun-loving, and filled with kindness. Erma enjoyed singing karaoke and in church choirs. She also performed in several talent shows, plays, and musicals in the Tanglewood area. Watching and playing golf was a favorite pastime for Erma.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Hunter B. Jones.
Remaining to keep her memory alive are numerous friends; husband, Buck; children, Scott Lewis (Connie), Debra Lewis Tyree, Cindy Lewis Coapstick (Marc), Dave Lewis Jr. (Kim), Brad Anderson and Tammi Misamore (Jackie); grandchildren, Michael Lewis (Erika), Caleb Jones (Maggie), Paige Stuhrenberg (Brian), Glenn Coapstick, Casey Lewis, Cody Lewis, Jeremiah and Judd Anderson, Kelsey Tiedje (Bill), Sammie Anderson and Stephanie Misamore; great-grandchildren, Lanie and Ethan Jones, Cruz Lewis, Jennings Jones and Brock Stuhrenberg. Born July 2, 1929, in Bryantsville, she was the daughter of Dewey S. and Olive (Atchison) Patton. She married Emil A. Craig on Jan. 6, 1949, in Huron and he preceded her in death in 1964. She later married Kenneth E. Corbin in 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1982.
She was a homemaker and member of the First Church of God in Bedford.
Survivors include one son, Kevin D. Craig and wife Polly of Bedford; two daughters-in-law, Darla Craig of Ohio and Debbie Craig of Bedford; a stepson, Randy Corbin and wife Karen of Heltonville; a sister-in-law, Annabelle Patton of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Travis Craig, Melinda Smith and husband Michael, Trevor Craig and wife Melinda, Patrick Craig and wife Mandy, and Kara Jo Hohimer and husband Eric; two stepgrandsons; nine great-grandchildren; a cousin, Don Terry; and several nieces and nephews.

Born Dec. 9, 1933, in Jackson County, Mrs. Young was the daughter of William Ralph Heller and Sarah Ruth (Sam) Huston. She was previously married to William Charles Young and he preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2003.
Mrs. Young attended Bedford High School and was of the Protestant faith. She had worked at BRMC in the Chemical Dependency Center, was a Home Health Nursing Assistant, worked at Crane, and for several years worked for the DNR.
Survivors include one daughter, Mara Eisele of Bedford; one son, Charles (Donna) Young of Salem; four grandchildren, Steve (Misty) Nicholas, Brad (Rachel) Young, Brian (Carrie) Young and Zachary (Rachelle) Eisele; one stepgrandson, Jason Eisele; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Horace Hamilton and Michael Huston; and one great-granddaughter, Lailah Rae Eisele.

Amy worked in the banking industry for years, until finally finding her true calling of being a nurse. She graduated with her LPN degree from Ivy Tech Bloomington in 2006. Earlier this year, she was awarded an honorary ASN degree from Ivy Tech, making her an RN. Amy worked for IU Health as a floor nurse, clinical nurse and pediatric nurse since her graduation. She was involved with the Girl Scouts of America for a number of years. Amy was an avid scrapbooker, devoted family person, loved her fur babies, Oppie and Keesha, and enjoyed traveling. Amy was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Alma and Allen Robrecht; her maternal grandfather, Homer Fuhrman; great-uncle, Otto Fuhrman; and great-aunt and uncle, Janice and Howard Thomas. November 06, 2018 Jimmy Dean ‘Jim’ Ryan April 6, 1934 — Nov. 4, 2018 Jimmy Dean “Jim” Ryan, 84, went home to his heavenly father at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Jim was born April 6, 1934, in Oolitic to William and Delia (Silvers) Ryan. He married Ann Price on Feb. 26, 1955, in Bloomington, and she survives. Jim graduated from Oolitic High School and was a self-employed farmer, barber, construction worker, construction manager, agent and full-time husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Everyone that met Jim knew he was a man of honor, kept his word and grew to love him and seek his advice, humor, and company. During his lifetime, Jim constructed many homes in the Oolitic Manor that are still used to this day. He built and managed, along with his wife, Ann, sons, Kenny and Matt, the Manor View Apartments with 100 units that are still in operation. In the early years of the Oolitic Volunteer Fire Department, Jim was a volunteer and would regale family, friends and other volunteer firefighters of his adventures with questionable equipment and responding. His stories always bore the humor and wit that was Jim Ryan. Jim was a member of the Patriot Lodge No. 750 F & AM in Oolitic and Kiwanis. Jim loved life and his kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren and they lovingly referred to him as “Poppy, Papaw, and Grandpa.” Jim is survived by four children, Terri Brown and husband David, Kenny Ryan and wife Debbie, all of Oolitic, Deitra “Dee” Beyrer and husband Andy of Fishers, and Matt Ryan and wife Joni Sue of Bedford; five grandchildren, Ky Porter, Mandy Baker, Nicholas Wininger, Ali Beyrer and Evan Beyrer; seven great-grandchildren, Mya, Gabe, Garrett, Isaac, Chloe, Hadley and Holden; many nieces and nephews; and a brother, Chester Ryan. Gerald Dean Watson, 84, of Lafayette passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at the Indiana Veterans’ Home.
Gerald was born on Aug. 9, 1934, in Bedford, to the late Floyd and Edna Swango Watson. He was a 1952 graduate of Oolitic High School and he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-58.
On Sept. 30, 1960, in Huntington, he was married to Mary Cassidy Watson.
Dean worked for many years at Rostone. Prior to that, he was a branch manager for Avco.
He enjoyed watching the Cubs and IU.
Surviving with his wife, Mary Watson of Lafayette, are his son, Eric (Missy) Watson of West Lafayette; and his brother, Louis Watson of Oolitic.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Grace Watson.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, with Full Military Honors at the Indiana Veterans’ Home Cemetery.

Born July 3, 1940, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Herman William and Dola Maxine “Tabby” (Bartlett) Smith. He married Shirley Murphy on July 8, 1961, and she survives.
He was a self-employed truck driver and farmer. He was a member of the Bartlettsville Christian Church.

Barbara Jean (Voorhies) Fortner, 80, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at White River Lodge, Bedford.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of Bedford except for five years living in Flat Rock, and one year in Crossville, Tennessee.
She was born Jan. 2, 1938, to Richard T. and Gladys I. (Fisher) Voorhies at their home in Bedford. Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Roger D. Fortner, on June 10, 1956, and they were married for 41 years until his death in November 1997.
She was a graduate of Shawswick High School Class of 1956 and enjoyed attending the annual alumni banquet whenever possible as well as various family reunions. She was a member of Leatherwood Christian Church and will be buried in the Leatherwood Cemetery, alongside Roger.
She worked at M. Fine & Sons and later the J.C. Penney store in Bedford until the late 1970s when the family moved to Flat Rock. She was then a bookkeeper for Roger’s small business and enjoyed watercolor painting and genealogy research into the family history. In the 1990s, she became a member of the Lawrence County Historical Society and also worked in the Lawrence County Museum.
Surviving relatives include her brother, Timothy (Laura) Voorhies of North Port, Florida; three children, June (Fortner) McPherson of Tucson, Arizona, Theresa (Fortner) Allen of Bedford and Randal (Gary Martin) Fortner of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Matthew McPherson, Angela McPherson, Ashley Fortner, Amber Allen and Michelle Allen; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roger.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Phil Thorne officiating. Burial will be in Leatherwood Cemetery.

Robert “Bob” McCain, 90, of Bedford, died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born Dec. 31, 1927, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Clarence and Lula Pearl (Peyton) McCain. He married Bonnie J. Mann on Sept. 13, 1950, and she survives.
He retired from the Indiana State Highway Department as a surveyor. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the Merchant Marines and U.S. Army.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Model A Club. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast. He loved to restore cars and watch basketball.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Bedford; four daughters, Robbie Wrege and husband Reed, of Georgetown, Sherry Hughes and husband Arnold, Donna Pritchett and husband Scott, and Melissa Kissinger and husband Dennis, all of Bedford; a son he never had, (great-nephew) Todd Johnson; eight grandchildren, Michael Wrege and wife Emily, Chad Hughes and wife Heather, Megan Hawk and husband Nate, Mallory and Hannah Pritchett, Brock, Hallie and Maddy Kissinger; six great-grandchildren, Stella and Molly Wrege, Chloe Hughes, Ethan Humphrey, Addison and Corbin Hawk; a brother, Kenneth McCain and wife Juanita, of Elizabethtown; and a sister, Barbara Peyton and husband Jack of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Clay Wrege; two brothers, Paul and Ernest McCain; four sisters, Frances Turpen, Helen Reynolds, Ruth Rainey and Marie Jackson.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Nathan Sundt officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Oleta E. “Mrs. Oleta” McCart, 86, of Bedford, died at 2:18 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at StoneBridge Health Campus.
Born Dec. 22, 1931, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Luther and Ruby (Flinn) Brown. She married Buddy Lee Stancombe, and he preceded her in death. She married Dale McCart on July 9, 1988, and he preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Tunnelton High School and the Indiana Beauty College. She was the director for the House of James Beauty College for over 25 years. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church and their Merry Widows Club.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Stancombe and wife Nancy and Greg Stancombe and wife Julie, all of Bedford; a daughter, Laura Ragone and husband Mike of Pensacola, Florida; eight grandchildren, Darren, Daniel, Derek, and Jessica Stancombe, Jennifer McLeod, Travis Ragone, Jared and Tyler Stancombe; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jerry Brown and wife Cathy, Danny Brown and Terry Brown and wife Sylvia, all of Bedford; a sister, Connie Scott and husband Joe of Bedford; a sister-in-law, Delpha Brown; and a daughter-in-law, Donnette Stancombe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son, Clifton Stancombe; two brothers, Frank and Donnie Brown; a sister, Loretta Garrett, and a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Clampitt.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Ronnie McLain and Pastor Mike Courtney officiating. Burial will follow in Pinhook Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

Danny Lee Arnold of Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at his home.
Danny was born on March 7, 1949, in Sullivan to parents, the late Russell Arnold Jr. and Shirley (Barrow) Humphrey.
The family moved to Bloomington in 1957. Danny graduated from Bloomington High School, Class of 1967. He attended General Motors Institute and Franklin College before obtaining his B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan. He served seven years in the United States Army Reserves, leaving with an honorable discharge as Staff Sergeant.
Dan retired from Orange County REMC after working 42 years in the utility business. Though modest of his accomplishments, he was proud to be the first person elected to the board of Cooperatives Federal Credit Union, serving six years as president of Co-op FCU, serving 10 years on the National standing committee representing a four-state area, as well as being chosen to represent the industry at an off-peak energy symposium.
One of his proudest moments was watching his youngest daughter graduate from Air Force Basic Training as an honor graduate and seeing her commissioned as an officer one year later.
Danny loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and he even hiked in and out of the Grand Canyon with his brother Mike. He enjoyed cooking, especially being “The Grill Master” for his family and friends gatherings. When not outdoors, you could find him reading one of his Steven King novels or working a crossword puzzle.
He loved being the Official “Unofficial” score keeper for his grandsons’ baseball games and tournaments. He enjoyed most all sporting events and remained loyal to his beloved IU Football teams.
He was a member of the American Legion, Burton Woolery Post 18, NRA and A.B.A.T.E.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Tina (Beard) Arnold; daughter, Stephanie (Bo) Railey of Brownsburg; stepdaughter, Lesle (Todd) Payne of Bloomfield; stepson, Steven (Shannon) Webb of Bloomington; and brother, Mikel (Sharon) Arnold of Johnston, Iowa. Danny was proud to have nine grandchildren, Justin, Dusty and Eli Hollingsworth, Cooper and Ty Webb, Cole, Lillie, Sadie and Clay Railey.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mikel Steven Arnold; and stepfather, John D. Humphrey.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at The Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
