Priscilla Ann Harrell, 78, of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 27, 2018, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born May 16, 1940, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Clyde and Laverne (Wilkerson) Grubb. She married Ronald “Max” Harrell, who preceded her in death on April 11, 2011. She was a former artwork framing specialist, and a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She loved traveling and tending to her flower garden. Her family, especially her grandchildren, brought her great joy.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Walton and husband, Dave, of Bloomington and Kelly Talbott, of Palm Harbor, FL; a son, Ronnie Harrell, and wife, Deanna, of Bedford; three grandchildren, Michael Sanders, Keri Marques and husband, Kevin, and Kasey Matthewson and husband, Kevin; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Sanders, Karsen Talbott, Kyle Marques, and Kaden Marques; nieces and nephews, Bobbi Haverly and husband, Steve, Brian Slinkard and wife, Tina, Brent Slinkard, Heidi Haverly, Holli West and husband, Gary, Rylan West and Brinley West; as well as other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Wanda Starr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, at the First Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Bill McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Anthony “Tony” Earl, 60, Springville, passed away at 12:35 p.m. July 24, 2018, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born March 30, 1958, in Lawrence County, to Frank Earl and Agnes (Tincher) Earl. Tony married Janice Parker Jan. 26, 1991, and she survives.
Tony was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He cared deeply for others and had several local ministries and traveled to minister to others. He had a street ministry and a singing ministry to the local nursing homes.
He also loved fishing.
He will be greatly missed by his family.
Tony was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Body of Christ Fellowship in Bedford.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Earl of Springville; five sons, Anthony W. Earl of Bedford, Nathan D. Earl of Bedford, Joshua Earl of Bedford, David (Rusti) Eicle Jr. of Owensburg and Jeffrey S. Eicle of Bedford; one daughter, Lisa M. Earl of Mitchell; 18 grandchildren; three sisters, Sybil Craft and Tina White, both of Texas, and Debbie Earl of Bloomington; two brothers, Jeff Del-A-Hunt of Kansas and Greg Del-A-Hunt of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his biological mother, Joyce (Boone) McFarland; and a sister, Jamie McFarland.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Body of Christ Fellowship, 3604 Washington Ave., with the Rev. John Turpin officiating. American Legion rites will be accorded by members of the Gillen Post No. 33.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Tim A. Shepherd, of Greenwich, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at his home. He was 60.
Tim was born on Feb. 4, 1958, in Willard, Ohio, son of the late Chester and Bessie Shepherd. He grew up in Greenwich and graduated from South Central High School. Tim lived in Greenwich, Shiloh and then Bedford, Indiana. He moved back to Greenwich five days before his death to fulfill his wish to come home to be with family and friends.
In 1977 Tim joined the United States Marine Corps and earned the rank of Corporal. He worked at Automotive Equipment and General Motors in Mansfield, Ohio, Marion, Indiana and then Bedford.
He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. Tim was known for being a jokester and prankster. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Tim is survived by his wife, whom he married on Sept. 7, 1991, Kathy (Baldridge) Shepherd; children, Tabatha (Chad) Schmidt of Dayton, Ohio, Sarah (Joey) Judkins of Westerville, Ohio and Amanda (Josh) Hughes of Mansfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Autumn, Anastasia, Michael, Mira, Aubrey and Aaron; in-laws, Don and Dosie Baldridge; sister, Sue Music; brother, Gene (Kathie) Shepherd; sisters-in-law, Ima Shepherd, Julia Shepherd and Andrea (Mark) Beal; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his siblings, David Shepherd, James Shepherd, Patty Uland, Sandra Conaway, Wilda Stumbo, Joanne Wise and Gerald “Jerry” Shepherd; and brothers-in-law, George and Timothy Baldridge.
Visitation will be held at the Greenwich First Baptist Church, 96 Townsend Street in Greenwich Monday, July 30, from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service with Pastor Bob Hudberg. Burial will follow with military honors in Mount Hope Cemetery in Shiloh.

Ben Dorsett Jr.
Aug. 7, 1926 — July 25, 2018
Ben Dorsett Jr., 91, died Wednesday in Venice, Florida, of heart failure. With him when he died were his beloved wife Judy and his daughter Lynn.
Ben was born in Mitchell, and graduated from Bedford High School in 1944. After marrying Marie Gyger and serving in the Army during World War II, he graduated from Indiana University.
Ben spent much of his adult life in Dayton, Ohio, where he worked for Frigidaire and for GMAC. In Dayton, he was Director of Antioch Shrine’s mounted horse patrol, and he rode with them in two Rose Bowl Parades.
Ben met the love of his life, Judy, while working as a VP for GMAC in New York City. In 1986, Ben and Judy retired to Manasota Key in Florida where they have many good friends.
A small family gathering is planned later in Huron.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children or Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Florida.

Michael “Stick” Blackwell, 64, of Bedford, died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at his residence.
Born Jan. 3, 1954, in Bedford, he was the son of Norman Russell and Anna Mary (Anderson) Blackwell. He was a retired carpenter working out of the carpenter’s union. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and loved mushroom hunting.
Survivors include a son, Barry Blackwell of Linton; grandchildren, Tyler Cliver, Jacob Blackwell and Cheyenne Rickelman; a brother, William R. Blackwell of Bedford; four sisters, Carolyn Jane Presslar of Bedford, Susan Sowders of Heltonville, Robin Silvers of Hardinsburg and Kim Greer of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pamela Blackwell.
Graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at Lowder Cemetery with Brother Tom East officiating. Burial will follow with military rites accorded by members of Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion.

Doyne “Gene” E. Jones, 71, of Bedford, died at 2:44 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born March 25, 1947, in Seymour, he was the son of Doyne C. and Iva M. (Collier) Jones. He was a high school graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He retired from General Motors as a journeyman tool and die maker and was a member of the Highview Baptist Church and United Auto Workers Union Local No. 440.
Survivors include a sister, Brenda Patton of Mitchell; three stepbrothers, Dean, Bill, and Gerald Johnson; a niece, Adonica Grissom and husband Billy of Mitchell; and two great-nephews, Josh and Ethan Grissom, both of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at the Highview Church, 60 Patton Hill Road, Bedford with Pastor Danny Goens officiating. Burial will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, in Dixon Chapel Cemetery with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion.

Preston Terry Rogers, 68, of Bedford, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2018, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
He was born in Lawrence County April 3, 1950, to Ernest D. Rogers and Viola “Maxine” (Lee) Rogers. Terry graduated from Shawswick High School with the Class of 1968. He was a member of the Spring Mill F.O.P. and served four years in the Indiana National Guard. Terry is a retired Deputy Sheriff from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
Terry married Jill Patton Rogers May 26, 1990, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife, Jill Rogers of Bedford; are his mother, Maxine Rogers of Bedford; one stepdaughter from a previous marriage, Missy Shaw of Mitchell; one aunt, Barbara Houtchings of Mitchell; one niece, Mandy Tanksley; and a nephew, Brandon Bevers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest D. Rogers and a sister, Debra Bevers.
At Terry’s request, private family service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27, at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Judith A. (Stewart) Zuttarelli, 77, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at IU Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born Oct. 13, 1940, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Lenza and Dorothy (Weaver) Stewart.
She married A. Ralph Zuttarelli on July 26, 1958; he preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2017.
Judith was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Anna Maria Matthews and her husband John of Hudson, Massachusetts.; one son, Anthony Paul Zuttarelli and his wife Sandra of Palmdale, California; one sister, Linda Brown of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Lenza Joseph Zuttarelli, in 1959; two sisters, Norma Jean Stewart and Janet Yeary; and one brother, Charles Stewart.

Janice Elaine (Phipps) Pittsford
Feb. 9, 1941 — July 22, 2018
Janice Elaine Pittsford, nee Phipps, was born at home in Lawrence County to Treat and Wilma Irene (Tatom) Phipps on Feb. 9, 1941. She passed from this life to the Life Eternal July 22, 2018, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington in the company of family and a cloud of Heavenly Witnesses. Her passing was sudden and unexpected. Despite rapid responses from those present with her and the Ellettsville Fire Department EMS staff, she never regained consciousness. It appears that she leaned back in her chair one moment and woke up in Glory the next.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, James Hattler Pittsford Jr.; three sisters, Maxine (Phipps) Allen, Margie (Phipps) Sherrill and June (Phipps) Allen; and four brothers, Gerald Vernon (in infancy), Maurice, Jimmy and Ronnie.
Surviving are one daughter, Jeannie (Pittsford) Market and husband Jim; two sons, James Hattler Pittsford III and Jerry Michael Pittsford and wife Cheryl; and one sister, Jean (Phipps) Tarr and husband, Roy. Additionally eight grandchildren survive her, Matthew (Jessica), Michael, James Tatom, Jackson Tyler Market, Claire Victoria, James Hattler IV, Alexander Michael and Harrison Glenn Pittsford. Her stepmother-in-law, Madge (Middleton) Pittsford; brother-in-law, Terry Pittsford and wife Judy; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Melancon and husband Roger, Cathy Goodman and husband Gary, Karen Phipps, Virgie Phipps and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family also survive.
Mrs. Pittsford graduated from Needmore High School with the Class of 1959. After high school, she graduated Draughn Business College in Louisville, and later attended Indiana University where she learned the bookkeeping skills that led her to employment with numerous businesses throughout Monroe County, the significant of which was Sarkes-Tarzian Company where she met Jim. They were married after a whirlwind courtship that lasted six weeks and they enjoyed their 57th wedding anniversary on Feb. 25 of this year.
Mrs. Pittsford was highly regarded for her skills, attention to detail and quick wit by all who worked with her in various places of employment. It was well known to all that Mrs. Pittsford did not suffer fools gladly. She was devoted to speaking the truth and standing on her principles and she was not much concerned with the opinions of others when acting on these core values. Because she was so highly principled and independent she left the employment of several businesses without another job waiting. Such was her faith in her skills, which were often in high demand.
Family, faith and service to others were Mrs. Pittsford’s highest priorities. She was baptized into Salvation at Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Bedford as a teenager. She was a faithful member of Ellettsville First Baptist Church for many years before transferring her membership to Bethel Baptist Church. She also attended Bible study at Ellettsville First United Methodist Church where she found friends and fellow believers to help her grow her faith and Biblical knowledge. Given the opportunity, she would tell you all about her children, grandchildren and her extended family. She was a devoted Jeopardy watcher, and her son, Jimmy would call her with his answer for the “Final Jeopardy” questions if they were not watching together.
The depth and breadth of her knowledge on many subjects was quite impressive. She was a proud member of Ellettsville Order of Eastern Star No. 454. She served the community through participation in many church activities, most notably singing in local nursing homes with the Nightingales, and as treasurer for the RBB Family Store. Among those who grew up or lived in the Ritter/Oak Street neighborhood of Ellettsville she will be forever remembered by her ability to whistle to her children a call to return home; a whistle that pretty much stopped everyone in his/her tracks.
As a mark of her faith and devotion, Mrs. Pittsford cared for her husband through his long battle with ALS. She believed firmly that “to be absent from the body,” is “to be present with the Lord.” For this reason her family and all who loved her know that she has received the gift of Eternal Life and now east of the Hidden Manna. Those who knew and loved her well will miss her dearly as the brittle thread of life was severed without warning; however, they do not “grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.”
Viewing will be held at Ellettsville United Methodist Church from 4-8 p.m. on Friday with Eastern Star services at 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be at Mount Pleasant Christian Church, 2394 Mount Pleasant Road, in Bedford at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Maurice Wright officiating. An additional viewing will be held for two hours prior to the service Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the RBB Family Store or to any agency that furthers the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Patricia A. “Patty” (Speer) Robertson, 66, of Bedford, died Sunday, July 22, 2018, after a brief illness.
Born June 19, 1952, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Dannie and Mary Speer. She married Larry Robertson on April 1, 1972, and he survives.
A graduate of Tunnelton High School, Patty received her BSW from Indiana University in 1987 and became an award-winning social worker until her retirement in 2017 from Hoosier Uplands Home Health and Hospice.
She was a member of the Williams First Baptist Church and president of Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services.
Survivors include her husband, Larry; two sons, Eric Scott Robertson of Mitchell and Kevin (Lana) Robertson of Williams; a sister, Janet (Larry) Kimbley of Bedford; four grandchildren, Shawn, Dakota, Dillon and Austin Robertson, all of Lawrence County; two foster grandchildren, Brandon and David; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Wanda “Tootie” Rout; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Robertson.

Jesse Lou (Reilly) Day passed away at StoneBridge Health Campus on July 23, 2018.
She was born May 17, 1939, in Bedford, to Howard T. and Anna Brown Reilly. She married John F. Day.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Storme Day of Bedford and cousins, Jan E. (Mary Lea) Brown, Stephen L. Brown and Jesse Brown, of Orleans. Her step-grandchildren are Phillip E. (Renee) Stackhouse of San Diego, California, Tami K. (Todd) Schnatzmeyer of Bloomington and Jeremy S. (Donita) Day, of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by three step-great-granddaughters and four step-great-grandsons.
Her parents, husband, and a stepdaughter preceded her in death.
Jesse was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, a board member and former president of the Bedford North Lawrence Scholarship Foundation, Indiana Landmarks serving as a docent at the West Baden Springs Hotel, and a member of Bedford Panhellenic. She also had served as president of the North Lawrence Education Association and Delta Pi Epsilon, Theta Chapter at Indiana University. She was a Bedford High School graduate and received a B.S. in Business and an M.S. in Education from Indiana University.
She was employed as a teacher for 40 years with the North Lawrence Community Schools at the old Needmore High School, North Lawrence Career Center, and Bedford North Lawrence High School.
There will be no calling; graveside services will be conducted at Livonia Cemetery, Livonia, (Washington County) at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 25.

Beulah Estelle Wilder Eads, 86, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018, at Paoli Health and Living Community.
Born Sept. 1, 1931, in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Grady Lawrence and Laura (Buttery) Ramsey. She married Donald W. Eads April 1992.
Beulah had been employed at Lonnie’s Grill, K-Mart and Three Pigs. She was of the Baptist faith, and loved cooking and caring for her flowers. Beulah enjoyed dancing and country music.
Survivors include her husband, Donald W. Eads of Bedford; son, David E. (Donna) Wilder of Paoli; stepchildren, Mike (Marsha) Eads of Springville, Tina Caswell of Mitchell, Greg (Vickie) Eads of Bedford, and Twila (Danny) Conley of Bedford; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jewell Taylor of Mitchell and Betty Rainey of Mitchell.
Her parents and brother, Avil “Shorty” Ramsey, preceded her in death.

Betty Joan (Wade) Fields
Feb. 4, 1932 — July 20, 2018
Joan passed away quietly in her home on July 20, 2018, surrounded by her family.
She will be greatly missed by Donald E. Fields, her husband of 68 years; by her children, Robin, Roland, Rodney and Rudy; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Wade.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leland “Doc” Wade; her mother, Vione Craig Patterson; a precious granddaughter, Jessie Fields; and a brother, Bill Wade.
Born on Feb.4, 1932, in a log cabin in Lawrence County, she attended the old, one-room Crabbe School and Owensburg High School. Mim married Dad and followed her soldier to Colorado and California. After Dad won the Korean War, they had babies and moved to Whiteland, to raise their family. Mim kept her family well fed, clean and warm. Christmas was very special to her and she made it special for us. Mim could take a couple of shot-up squirrels, make a fabulous dinner, and make a boy feel like a man providing for his family.
Joan provided a role model to her children, and their spouses and children with her love and actions. She attempted discipline with a fly swatter but was more effective by acting disappointed or hurt. She wasn’t too tough with a fly swatter, but a hurt look could get some attention. Mim did not seek the spotlight but delighted in gathering the family. We will cherish our memories of her forever.
Funeral services for Joan will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Duane Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the Owensburg Cemetery.

Edna L. Merry, 94, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.
Born Feb. 6, 1924, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Loyd and Anice (Bex) Miller Sr. She married Ray G. Merry June 17, 1944, and he preceded her in death Jan. 24, 2015.
Edna retired from the First National Bank. She had also been employed at Smith Paint and Appliances. Edna was a member of the First Baptist Church and a 1942 graduate of Mitchell High School. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family, and was proud of them. Edna had the gift of hospitality.
Survivors include her children, Eve Elaine (Ron) Neal of Anderson and Alan R. Merry of Dallas, Texas; son-in-law, Don (Sharon) Fortner of Jasper; grandchildren, Jason A. Fortner, Laura N. Burbp, Cara Elaine Schulz and Lindsey R. Campbell; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lloyd Miller Jr., Mary Graves Manske and Sue Acton, all of Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband; daughter, Susan L. Fortner; and siblings, Martha Kendall and Phillip Miller, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with the Rev. Reggie Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Betty L. Sanders, 75, of Orleans, passed away at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Paoli Health and Living Community.
She was born Nov. 13, 1942, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Robert Harley and Mary Ruth (Alexander) Cassidy. She married Kenneth Sanders on March 7, 1959, and he survives.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Mitchell and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of Orleans; four sons, Kenneth E. (Sonni) Sanders of Paoli, Marlon D. Sanders of Orleans, Roy (Dena) Sanders of Dubois and Troy Sanders of Paoli; two daughters, Debra S. (Everett) Best of Paoli and Sheila Tinkle of West Baden; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Perry, Denny and Gerald (Pat) Cassidy; five sisters, Flora Hall, Rosetta Hudson, Aggie Watson, Hazel Bush and Linda Grissom; one stepbrother, Steven Sons; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers Don and Gene Cassidy.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at the Mount Horeb Cemetery in Orleans.

John D. Tucker Sr., 95, of Indianapolis, passed away July 16, 2018.
He was born January 9, 1923, in Fairland, Indiana, to the late Fred and Claire (Conner) Tucker.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. John graduated from DePauw University in 1948, and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
John retired as the CEO of Indiana Limestone out of Bedford, Indiana. He was very proud of the work that he did, and the buildings and monuments throughout the world where Indiana Limestone was used. He was a member of the Service Club of Indianapolis and Meridian Hills Country Club. He also enjoyed playing golf, traveling, spending his summers on Lake Maxinkuckee, in Culver, IN, and his winters in Naples, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Carolyn (Costin) Tucker; children, John David (Jerilyn) Tucker Jr. and Tracy (Roy) Schrimsher; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Bryant; and Deidra Robinson, caregiver. He was preceded in death by his sister JoAnn Tucker; and great-granddaughter Callie McCoy.

Katherine Marie Edington, 63, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at her residence.
Born January 1, 1955, in East Chicago, Indiana, she was the daughter of Keith and Lillian (Gondek) Nelson.
She married Dr. Dodd E. Edington; he preceded her in death June 5, 2010.
She attended Washington High School where she graduated as the valedictorian of the class of 1973, and received her Bachelor’s in Education from Indiana University and a Master’s in Education from Indiana Wesleyan.
Katherine had taught students with learning disabilities at Oolitic Middle School and then at Bedford North Lawrence High School.
She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Edington and husband David Arp of Bedford and Amanda Edington and fiance J.T Srygley of Bloomington; several grand puppies; siblings, Ellen (Jesse) Chavez, Arnie Nelson and Jeff (Martha) Nelson; sisters-in-law, Kathy Nelson and Robin Ortega; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Dodd E. Edington; siblings, Sandra Bota, Rocky Nelson and Keith “Ronnie” Nelson.
Cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Kenneth Alan Robinson, 82, of Bedford, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital Hospice House surrounded by his family.
Kenny was born October 12, 1935, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was the son of the late John Wesley and Marjorie Robinson. Kenny graduated from University High School and retired from Indiana University, where he was an electrician. He was foreman of the electric shop. Kenny loved his family and was a member of Westside Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed sports, especially Indiana University basketball and football, along with the Colts and NASCAR. He was a craftsman and loved woodworking, gardening and antiquing with his wife.
Survivors include three daughters, Kim Nethery (Mark), Shelly Raines (Otto) and Marjorie Annette Robinson (dog — Chloe); grandchildren, Candace Clark (Andrew), Stephanie Thompson (Derrick), Heather Jordan (Jeff), Bailey Taylor (Tim VanMeter) and Jeremy Raines; 11 great-grandchildren and his beloved dog Daisy.
Kenny was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn S. Robinson in 2017, his parents, two brothers, John Robinson and Robert Robinson, and great-granddaughter Braylee Clark.
Services for Kenny will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington. Pastor Rick Owensby will officiate the service and burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Scott Evers, 54, of Mitchell, passed away July 18, 2018, at his residence.
Born June 19, 1964, in Bedford, he was the son of Lester and Betty (Verhines) Evers. He married Tammy Tanksley on May 16, 1997, and she survives. He earned an Associates degree from Louisville Technical School. He was a technician at NWSC Crane for 34 years, and a member of the Woodville Baptist Church, where he played bass guitar with the praise team. He loved cars and music.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy, of Mitchell; two children, Meghan Beyers and husband, James, of Greencastle, and Clayton Evers of Mitchell; a grandson, Cairo Beyers; two nieces, Anne Wheatley and husband, J.R., of Tacoma, Washington, and Elizabeth Hicks of Lafayette; great nieces, Kayla Hicks and Della Wheatley; aunt, Bernadine Henderson, of Williams, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Danny Evers, and a sister (in infancy).

Linda McDonald Watson, 76, of Palm Bay, Florida, lost her battle to Alzheimer’s on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.
Linda was born in Heltonville on June 4, 1942, to Forrest and Mary Helen McDonald. They were the parents of two boys, Larry and Gary McDonald, when they finally “got their girl.” Linda eventually had nine siblings, including Claudia McDonald Cazee, Debbie McDonald, Steve McDonald and Dorothy (Dottie) Sproles Hughes, Robert (Bob) Sproles, Cecil Sproles, and Ronald (Ronnie) Sproles.
Linda graduated from Heltonville School, where she attended first through 12th grade.
Linda married Jerry (Joe) Payton on June 24, 1960, which produced four children, Jera Payton Torres (John), Gina Payton Waggoner (Butch), Jeff Payton (Kathy), and Dan Payton (Becky). Linda was remarried on April 3, 1993 to James “Patches” Watson.
Linda was a loyal employee to Cummins Engine Company for 30 years. She began employment in 1972 and retired in 2003. She worked several different shifts, multiple locations and a variety of areas. She was heavily involved as a union representative for the employees at Cummins.
Linda loved to travel and had many opportunities to do so. She traveled through most of the United States, a flight to Alaska, road trips to Montana and notably a four-generation road trip west and through the Rockies in 1984. She enjoyed multiple trips to Europe, including to Germany, France, the UK and the Netherlands. Linda also traveled to Vietnam with her husband James to tour the areas where he served our country during the Vietnam War. Linda had a love for her country, all people and animals. She treated everyone with kindness and had a smile and a laugh that would fill a room. She took joy in doing for others, entertaining and had a way that would make everyone believe they were her favorite. Linda loved to be surrounded by family, which in her eyes included both blood relatives and a multitude of others that she had accepted as her own. She was known to enjoy dancing and singing and was always the life of the party. You would never leave her home hungry or without a smile.
We lovingly called our mother “Our Box of Chocolates” due to her many moods while battling Alzheimer’s. In health, she was an independent and determined woman, which translated into “wandering” often from home during her seven years of Alzheimer’s. Even during her worst days, she remained kind, graceful, appreciative, affectionate and proud of her children.
Linda was a friend to everyone that she met; although her best friend and traveling buddy was her sister Dottie Ann. Dot and Mom were partners in crime, were both incredible women, amazing friends and so much fun to be around. Their humor was contagious and their laughter can still be heard today by anyone who witnessed it.
Linda is survived by four children; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Forrest and Mary Helen McDonald; father of her four children, Joe Payton (1979); son in-law, Butch Waggoner (2010); sister, Dottie Sproles Hughes (2010); brother, Robert Sproles (2012); and husband, James Watson (2013).
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at the Heltonville Christian Church at 11 a.m. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service.

Bobby L. Wagoner, 79, of Bedford, died at 3:45 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born Nov. 24, 1938, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Henry M. and Hazel I. (Reeder) Wagoner. He married Janice D. Sears on June 23, 1963, and she survives.
He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School with the Class of 1957. He received his BA in 1962 and his Masters’ degree in 1966 from Indiana University. He enjoyed carpentry, working to put himself through college.
He retired as a teacher for Bedford North Lawrence High School in 1995 after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Southland Church of Christ, where he had previously served as a deacon and an elder. He was a member of Lawrence County Retired Teachers’ Association, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, National Education Association, retired.
He had been a member of St. Vincent Dunn Auxiliary for five years, volunteering in the gift shop, volunteered at the Community Care Center, and was a member of the Gospel Five Quartet.
Bob loved his family. He enjoyed traveling to see them and loved his dog, Tessa.
Survivors include his wife, Janice of Bedford; two daughters, Jill D. Dailey and husband Scott of Ohio, and Pamela L. Stevens and husband Kurt of Illinois; six grandchildren, Adam, Ryan, Owen and Liam Dailey, and Ben and Zach Stevens; one sister, Emma Louise Webb of Bedford; one brother, Larry D. Wagoner and wife Janelle of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lois E. Williams and a granddaughter, Abigail Stevens.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, at the Southland Church of Christ with Bud Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Ricky Lee Reynolds, 72, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Baptist Hospital Louisville, Kentucky.
Born March 30, 1946, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Thomas and Audrey (Howell) Reynolds.
Rick had been employed at Essex and McDonalds in Bedford. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.
Survivors include his daughters, Renea (Michael) Chastain of Mitchell and Michele (Bob) Herzner of Mitchell; grandchildren, Megan Reynolds, Chelsea Reynolds, Natasha Chastain, Airyona Herzner, and Bronson Herzner; and great-grandson, Eastyn Sims.
His parents preceded him in death.

Earl Ivan Jamison, 79, of Bloomington, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Ivan was born September 21, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa, and was the son of the late Ralph and Lina Bernice (Patton) Jamison.
Ivan was an army veteran and retired from Crane as an engineering technician. He was a member of Woodhaven Christian Church, where he served as an elder.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 31 years, Norma (Smith) Jamison of Bloomington; daughter, Teresa (Randy) Fluke of Bloomington; two sons, Deron Jamison of Bloomington and Philip (Micco) Cain of Japan. Also surviving are his grandson, Randall Jamison; his very special granddaughter, Sydney (Chip) Newsome, who was the apple of his eye; his great-granddaughter Morgan Newsome, who brought him such joy and brightened his days; sister, Judy (Ken) Hawkins of Oolitic; and brother, Lynne Jamison of Bedford.
Preceding Ivan in death were his parents and sister, Joan Cramer.

David Perry Hayes

David Perry Hayes, 95, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital Hospice House, surrounded by his family.
David was born February 8, 1923, in Monroe County and was the son of the late Curtis and Minnie Rachel (Robertson) Hayes.
David was a farmer and drove a school bus for MCCSC for 35 years. He had also worked at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department in the early sixties under Clifford Kinser. In 1971, he was elected Van Buren Township Trustee and, while Trustee, he helped start the Van Buren Fire Department.
David was an avid hunter and horseback rider, an army veteran of World War II, and a member of Burgoon Baptist Church. He was a previous member of the American Legion. He was proud of time spent in the service, proud of his country, but his greatest source of pride was being a husband, father and grandfather. David loved to sing “God Bless America” and often said there wasn’t anything in life he wanted to do that he didn’t accomplish. In his words, “We’ve had a great life.”
Survivors include three daughters, Marsha McMurry (Tom) of Bloomington, Mickey Duncan (Roger) of Bedford and Mary Jo Ricks of Bloomington; one son, John D. Hayes (Stacy) of Bloomington; eight grandchildren, Annette Nunn, Tommie Jo Allen, Carie Ann Zaiser, Jeremy Pitman, Chelsea Ann Hayes, Mason David Hayes, Dylan Curtis Hayes and Wilson Perry Hayes; seven great-grandchildren, Sam, Zach, Rachel, Kylan, Asa, Hannah and Whitney.
David was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Doris E. (Richardson) Hayes in 2016; his parents, Curtis and Minnie Hayes; five sisters, Oma Owen, Opha Kinser, Olive Chambers, Opal Wilson and Josephine Frame; and his brother, Lenzy Hayes.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018, from 4-8 p.m. at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN.

Born April 2, 1931, in Sullivan County, he was the son of William Harvey and Etta Mae (Bond) Jones. He married Alberta R. Conley on Nov. 21, 1951, and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta of Bedford; a daughter, Angi Jones of Bedford; two sons, Steve Jones (Gwen Weathers) of Bloomington and Robert W. Jones (Kay) of Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Annette Jones of San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren, Courtney Jones, of Hartford City, Robert W. Jones II of Houston, Texas, and Samantha Jones of Galveston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Douglas Alan Jones.
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at the Free Methodist Church in Bedford. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the Free Methodist Church.

James W. Jeffries, age 76, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2018, at the Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital Hospice House.
His life journey has ended, but those who knew him will always remember Jim as someone who lived life to the fullest, and was a loving husband and wonderful father, son and brother and high school band director.
Jim was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and moved with his parents to Bedford, Indiana, as a young student.
He developed a talent for music and playing the trumpet, and followed that passion by attending and graduating from the Indiana University School of Music.
He began his high school band director career with a year at Royal Center High School, a year at Delphi High School and the following two years at Shoals High School, and then spent 32 years directing the bands in the North Lawrence school corporation.
Jim also enjoyed his love of playing trumpet as a member of the Bloomington Brass Quintet for many years.
Jim loved the outdoors, and fishing at the lake with his father.
In his later years he developed a love of cooking, and became an excellent chef, much to his wife’s delight as she became his devoted sous chef.
Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Porter Jeffries; their daughter Jennifer Jeffries Barnhouse and husband, Phil, of Mt. Washington, Kentucky; son J.P. Jeffries and wife, Tina Cooper, of Bloomington; four grandchildren; brother Dan Jeffries; and sister Sauny Jeffries Zody.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mary Alice Jeffries; and mother-in-law Vivian Porter.
A memorial service will be held July 21, 2018, at 1 p.m. at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.

William Odis “Bill” King, 77, of rural Mitchell (Huron), has finished his journey on Earth this day, July 13, 2018.
Bill was born at Bryantsville on March 15, 1941, the oldest son of Charles William and Virginia Mae (Atchison) King. He married Sharon K. Rollman Aug. 21, 1968.
Bill grew up on Kings Ridge where he was taught the true meaning of love for family, friends and God. You would never meet a more kind or gentle man who loved people. He enjoyed a good conversation, especially about hunting and guns.
Bill was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ. He served several years on the board of the Port Williams Cemetery Association and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a graduate of Huron High school, the Class of 1959.
There wasn’t much Bill couldn’t do with his hands. He was artistic and played guitar. He retired from the City of Bedford. Through his life he has farmed and was an over the road truck driver.
He left behind his loving wife, Sharon; sons, Mark Odis King (from a previous marriage) of Mitchell, Trent William (Kimberly) King of Mitchell, and Toby Charles (Heidi) King of Mitchell; grandchildren, Master Sergeant Odis King, USAF, stationed in Spain, William Zachary Dee (Crystal) King of Bedford, Olivia Grace King of Louisville, Kentucky; step-grandchildren, Corbin and Cadie Haley; and soon to be great-grandson, William David “Liam” King; Bill’s siblings, Michael L. (Sheila) King of New Albany, Mississippi, Carolyn Sue (Fred) Lovelace of Harrisburg, Michigan, Martha L. “Boo” (Tim) Row of Huntsville, Alabama, Vonda M. King of Bonham Texas, and Vicki L. (Donnie) Lovelace of Rochester Hills, Michigan; stepsister, Arvetta Rosenbaum of Bedford; and uncle, Marvin (Patty) Atchison of Bedford.
His parents, Charles and Virginia; son, Trevor D. King; granddaughter, Crystal Nicole King; infant sister, Shirley Ann King; and brother, Hilliard W. King, preceded Bill in death.

Hettie L. Diehl, 73, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born July 30, 1944, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of William Albert and Zula (Stover) Stockton. She married Gary Diehl on April 8, 1978, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2018.
She retired as an LPN after 28 years at the Bedford Nursing Home and was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Kelly Woody and husband, Jerry of Bedford and Stephanie Creech and husband Gordon of Ellettsville; two stepsons, Stacey Diehl and wife Cathy and Barry Diehl, all of Florida; a stepdaughter, Shelly Cox and husband Rocky of Bedford; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Wells of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her parents; and a sister, Anna Johnson.

Michael Lee Chapman, 69, of Williams, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, July 11, with his loving wife at his side.
Born April 8, 1949, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Ernest and Mildred Chapman. He married the love of his life and best friend, Rose-Mary Roberts, on June 19, 1971, and she survives.
Mike and his wife Rose-Mary are owners of Riverside Printing in Bedford. He loved being a printer and it showed in his work and the attentive care he gave to his customers. He never attended schooling for his profession and was a self-taught man who could accomplish anything he set his mind to.
He was a graduate of Bedford High School and a member of Crossroads Church. He had a fun loving personality and sense of humor like no other.
He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mildred Chapman; his sister, Linda Webster; and his father-in-law, Russell Roberts, whom he dearly loved.
He is survived by his wife, Rose-Mary; mother-in-law, Reva Roberts of Bedford; sisters (in-law), Rita King (Norman) of Bedford, Sherry Cobb (Kyle) of Tennessee; brothers in-law, Ricky Roberts (Natalie) of Bedford and Russell Roberts II (Mary) of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. on Monday at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford. Pastor Ken Ransom officiating. Burial will be at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

David Mitchell, 72, of Shoals, passed away at 9:53 p.m. on July 11, 2018 at his residence.
He was born March 27, 1946, in Bedford to Robert and Ruth (Puckett) Mitchell. He married Agnes Hovis on March 8, 1968, in St. John’s Catholic Church in Loogootee and she preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 2001.
He was a member of Shoals United Methodist Church, the Sons of the American Legion and retired from the U.S. Gypsum Corporation in 2009. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and knife collector.
Survivors include, one daughter, Vicki (David) Mitchell Klyczek of Greencastle; two granddaughters, Miranda Mitchell of Shoals, Savannah Klyczek of Jamestown; two sisters, Phyllis (Donald) Witt of Shoals and Elizabeth Kay (Pete) Gibelyou of Springville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother, Phillip Mitchell.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals with Pastor Marty Evans officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the St. John Cemetery in Loogootee. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.

Lillian “Tweedle” Dwyer McCann, 92, passed away after a long illness on July 5, 2018.
She is survived by her children, Paula Mahaney, John McCann (Karen), Frank McCann (Teresa), all of Crawfordville, Florida; and Megan McCann (Len Lescosky) of Highland Park, Illinois; her brother, Lawrence (Monk) Dwyer and sister, Claris Melvin, both of Bedford; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leo Joseph McCann; her son, Patrick Abel; and her daughter, Sunny Lou Rothenhoefer.
Known affectionately her entire life as Tweedle, she was born in Martin County, on Nov. 11, 1927, to Patrick and Josephine Dwyer (nee Hill). Tweedle graduated from Shoals High School in 1945 and continued to live and raise her family in Indiana until 1979, when her job with General Motors took her to Albany, Georgia. Her husband, Leo, retired from Chrysler before their move to Georgia.
In Georgia, Tweedle became more involved in the local United Auto Workers union, serving as president in the 1980s. Upon her retirement, Tweedle and Leo moved to Fort Myers, Florida. After Leo’s death in 1992, Tweedle moved to Crawfordville to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Tweedle’s family and friends will remember her as a strong, independent, and intelligent woman with a penchant for irreverent humor. She loved playing cards (always for money), estate sales, and politics.
She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be forever missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Big Bend Hospice, Tallahassee, Florida.

He worked construction and served in the U.S. Navy. Brad was most proud of his military service and loved watching IU basketball.

Born Jan. 4, 1964, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Bob and Sandy (Cain) Young. He married Kimberly D. Gardner on April 19, 1986, and she survives.
Upon graduation from high school, Billy worked with his father at Goodyear from 1982 to 1995. He later opened and operated Kar Kwik Muffler and Brakes in Bedford in October 1997.
Billy was a member of Crossroads Community Church and N.H.R.A. He loved drag racing and working on race cars with his son. He loved his granddaughter, Gracie, who was the light of his eye.

Gloria D. (Rivers) Deckard, 93, of Bedford, died at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at her residence.
Born July 3, 1925, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Marvin and Gertrude (Holmes) Rivers. She married Oliver “Jody” Deckard in 1958 and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was a graduate of Needmore High School with the Class of 1944.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene and attended the Oolitic Baptist Church. She was an avid reader, especially Danielle Steele and John Grisham, and instilled a love of reading in her children. She loved to shop with her family.
A devout Christian, she raised her children to be honest and always do the right thing, to have a strong character and work ethic, to never give up. She loved music and Alabama was her favorite group.
Gloria worked hard to keep an orderly and tasteful household. She faced challenges in her life with grit and determination, was a great example for her children and grandchildren. A member of the greatest generation.
Survivors include two daughters, Jody Edwards and husband Pete of Bedford and Barbara Grinstead and husband Steve of Batavia, Ohio; a son, Bill Davis of Bedford; three grandchildren, Andrew Davis and wife Melissa of Astoria, Oregon, James Edwards and wife Kelsie of Bedford, Megan Bowman and husband Andrew of Brazil; two sisters, Cathy McIntyre and husband Terry and Donna Carpenter, both of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepson, Jerry Deckard.

Doris M. Logsdon, 80, of Bedford, passed away peacefully Friday, July 6, 2018.
Born Feb. 27, 1938, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Andrew and Bessie Swift. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1956. She married Marvin E. Logsdon on June 30, 1956, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2015.
Doris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a bookkeeper and secretary at Hilderbrand Motors, JCPenney, Bedford Glass, and her husband’s contracting business. She was an active room mother the years her daughters were in grade school.
She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church where she served two terms as a Deaconess, on the Music Committee and as a volunteer for her daughter’s youth group. Her friends there could always count on her sweet smile and greetings. Her thoughtful, loving gestures will be missed. She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
Playing cards with her friends was a favorite pastime. She also enjoyed reading, cross stitch crafts and her beloved cat, Gabby. Her friends enjoyed many gatherings at their house with food, fun and fellowship. Doris loved to provide food for her daughter’s friends in her home and hosting showers for special events.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Hensley of Bloomington, Bonnie McFarland (Pat) of Oolitic; five grandchildren, Daniel, Jake and Bridget McFarland, Michael Hatfield and Rhett Hensley; and a brother, Roy (Gene) Beasley of Connersville.

Rodger Lee Fish, age 83, of Bloomington, passed away June 30, 2018 at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Rodger was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Heltonville, to Everett O. and Mary Marie (Blackwell) Fish. Rodger was a member of the United States Air Force, and later of the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of the VFW Post 604, American Legion Burton Woolery Post 18, and was a past President of the Eagles Lodge.
He retired as a builder, and then began working for Bloomington Shuttle. Rodger enjoyed fishing, golfing, swinging on his front porch, racing, and meeting people, as he did not know a stranger. Rodger loved his family dearly.
Rodger is survived by his children, Rodgeann Griffin (Jim) and Chad Fish (Monica Burch); grandchildren, Brieanna Blume, Elijah Griffin, Ethan Griffin, Jackson Fish, Jameson Fish and Heather Chance; sister, Phyllis Kinser (Larry); nieces and nephews, Tanya Day, Tony Kinser, Shelle Hume and Junior Fish; and sweetheart, Edna Harlan.
Rodger was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Sue (Gibbs) Fish; stepson, James C. Bauer; brother, Herman Fish (Sally); and significant other, Betty Sales.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 6 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington.
Rodger’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Shoals.

Karen Sue Hearth, 73, of Springville, died at 12:40 pm on Friday, June 29, 2018, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born October 16, 1944, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Cloudy and Laura Ruth (Whitaker) Hatfield. She married Bobby Hearth, and he survives. She retired as a clerk from the Indiana BMV Bedford branch.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby, of Springville; one daughter, Sabrina Spradley and husband, Troy, of Houston, TX; two sons, Bobby Hearth Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Owensburg, Joel Hearth and wife, Sheila, of Bloomington; ten grandchildren, Zachary Kirkman, Dakota Hearth, Benjamin Spradley, Brooke Spradley, Hanna Hearth, Juan Kirkman, Becca Hearth, Fernando Kirkman, Laura Spradley and Gabriella Hearth; four great-grandchildren, Brentlee, Ava, Macie and Allison; one brother, Joe Hatfield; six sisters, Martha Calabrese, Clarissa Hawk, Mary Trisler, Becky Meadows, Nancy Smith and Connie Van Treese; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jennifer Szatowski; and one brother, Lewis Hatfield.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 3, at 11 a.m. in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary, with Troy Spradley officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 2, at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday. John Robert Coleman, 81, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away March 15, 2018, in Gainesville.
John was born in Bedford, Indiana, on April 30, 1936. Formerly of Bedford and Bloomington, Indiana, he retired from Otis Elevator around 1990 and Santa Fe College, Gainesville, Florida, in 2008.
He is survived by three children, Gaylon (Estel) Hatfield of Gainesville, FL, Michael (Teri) Coleman of Powell, OH, John (Kate) P. Coleman of Silt, CO; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and wife, Sylvia Coleman, of Gainesville, FL.
John is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Patsy Joan Coleman; daughter, Debra (Bex) Skweres; mother, Laura Louise (Struble) Coleman; sister, Mary Giorgio; and brothers, James and Dennis Coleman.
John served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
