Dickey M. Tanksley
Dickey M. Tanksley, 84 of Heltonville passed away on Monday August 24, 2026, at Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born in Lawrence County on November 23, 1941, to Norton and Edna (Winegar) Tanksley. Dickey was a graduate of Heltonville High School, he was a Forklift Operator at Elliott Limestone Company for over 40 years.
Survivors include two children, Diana (Harrison) Collins of Springville, and Bryan Tanksley of Heltonville, five grandchildren, Jeremy Collins, Heather Collins, Michael Collins, Chris Collins, and Jossie Tanksley, 12 great grandchildren, two sisters, Sylvia Burkhart of Bedford, and Sharon (Barry Don) Smith of Bedford, one brother, Donald (Gaytha) Tanksley of Heltonville.
Dickey was preceded in death by his parents, Norton, and Edna Tanksley, one sister, Sally Fish.

Linda Kay Godbey
MITCHELL – Linda Kay Godbey, 79, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Linda fought cancer for 16 years and was one of the strongest people you could ever meet. She fought until she had no more fight left.
Born August 28, 1946, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Robert L. Davis, Sr. and Stella E. (Meadows) Davis. She married Stanley W. Godbey on December 15, 1967 and he survives.
Linda was a 1964 graduate of Bedford High School. She worked at RCA and later was a secretary in the Dean’s office in the IU School of Public Health. Linda loved her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley W. Godbey of Mitchell; children, Melissa J. (Joseph) Godsey of Mitchell and Jonathan Lee (Shannon) Godbey of Mitchell; grandchildren, Joseph Wade (Alyssa Bastin) Godsey of Bedford and Michael Lee Godbey of Mitchell; brothers, Gary A. (Brenda) Davis of Bedford, Steve (Sue) Davis of Spencer, and Thomas R. (Diane) Davis of Bedford; and sister-in-law, Linda Davis.
Her parents and brothers, Robert L. Davis, Jr. and James H. Davis, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Brian Bolton officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Sandy Arthur
Sandy Arthur, 71 of Avoca passed away on Monday August 24, 2026, at Westview Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was born in Bedford on May 4, 1955, to Maurice L. and Rosemary (Gordon) Graves. Sandy married Robert Arthur and he preceded her in death on October 29, 2013.
Sandy was a graduate of Needmore High School, she was a homemaker and previously had owned and managed a pet supply company.
Survivors include two children, Chelsea (Jeremy) Terrell of Avoca, and Tyler Younger of Martinsville, one grandson, Jake (Briana Watterson) Terrell, one brother, Terry Graves of Bedford, several nieces, and nephews.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice L. and Rosemary Graves, husband, Robert Arthur, two sisters, Shirley Carmichael, and Patsy McFadden.
Funeral services will be on Thursday August 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Cresthaven Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Williams, officiating, visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 PM until service time at 6:00 PM at the funeral home, condolences may be made at www.cresthavenfh.com.

Sylvia B. Johnson
March 28, 1935 – August 22, 2026
Sylvia B. Johnson, 91, of Bedford, passed away at Stonebridge Health Campus on Saturday, August 22, 2026. She was born on March 28, 1935, in Romania to the late Andrew Beldean and Maria (Barbu) Beldean. On September 2, 1978, she married Frank Johnson, and he preceded her in death in October 2013.
Sylvia was a faithful wife and a strong-willed woman who was proud of her Romanian heritage. She came to the US from Romania at the age of fourteen where she lived in Waynesboro, VA before moving to Indiana. She was a longtime member of 39th Street Christian Church and cherished the faith and values that were an important part of her life. She will be remembered for her strength, devotion, and the love she shared with those around her.
Those surviving to cherish her memory include her children, Kathy (Steve) Smith, Karen (Tim) Stoner, Debbie (Mike) Bennett, and Philip (Lela) Johnson; her daughter-in-law, Babs Johnson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews, Maria Beldean, Gene (Ellen) Beldean, Shannon (Joe) Curtin, Tony Beldean, Brandi (Troy) McCulley, Jenny (Timmy) Parry, Theresa, Seth and Olivia.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her brother, Eugene Beldean, as well as his wife, Eileen Beldean; and her son, Russell Johnson, who passed earlier the same morning as Sylvia.
Graveside services for Sylvia Johnson will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Dive Cemetery in Bedford, with Pastor Seth Wisley and Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating.

Randall Lee “Randy” Rodman
March 5, 1957 – August 21, 2026
Randall Lee “Randy” Rodman, 69, passed away peacefully at his home on August 21, 2026. He was born on March 5, 1957, to the late Theodore and Mary Ann Parker Rodman.
Randy was a veteran of the United States Army and attended Resurrection Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf and was a familiar and friendly face in his neighborhood, where he seemed to know everyone. Randy had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. He loved singing and especially enjoyed teasing and aggravating his family and friends in a way that always brought a smile. Those who knew Randy will remember him for his fun-loving personality, his laughter, and the joy he brought to those around him.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife, Ann Lloyd-Bunch; children, Mary Jo Rodman, Brandi Standard, Randall Lee Jr. Rodman Jr., Steve (Kristie) Bunch, and Nathan (Kylee) Bunch; grandchildren, Alissa (Michael) Carr, Kendra (Elijah) Grider, Colt Bunch, David, Tori, LeAnn, William, and Shane; great-grandchildren, Karson Bunch and Myla Grider; sisters, Anita (Jim) Horner and Barbara (Danny) Brooks; sisters-in-law, Donna (Jeff) Powell, Laquita (Kyle) Kirkman, and Frances Incollingo (Mark Arnold); cousins, Bruce Rodman and Denny Rodman; sister-in-law, Kay Rodman; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert D. “Bob” Marsh
February 16, 1944 – August 19, 2026
Robert D. “Bob” Marsh, 82, of Bedford, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Born on February 16, 1944, in Bedford, Indiana, Bob was the son of Marion and Mary (Meyers) Marsh, and they preceded him in death. He married Deidra (Riggs) Pittman on July 5, 2014, and she survives.
Bob worked for Otis Elevator and was employed as a laborer. He graduated from Bedford High School with the class of 1962 and was a long-time member of the Free Methodist Church of Bedford.
He loved dogs, going camping, his church, and the old hymns. He could do anything.
Bob is survived by his wife, Deidra Marsh; one brother-in-law, John W. Riggs; a dear family friend, Avis Ramsay, and her children, who loved him as a brother; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mary (Meyers) Marsh; one sister, Patricia Ann Marsh, in infancy; a very dear friend of the family, Harry Ramsay; and Bob’s first wife, Lois (Brooks) Marsh.
Funeral Services for Bob will be held at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with Pastors Adam Strauser and Reed Beard officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m., also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.

MITCHELL – Mary Jane Noe, 89, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, at her residence.
Born August 8, 1937, in Shoals, she was the daughter of Raymond Jones and Mary Louise (Wagoner) Eck. She married Bobbie R. Noe on December 4, 1976 and he survives.
Mary worked at RCA doing assembly. She loved her dogs and cats.
Surviving are her husband, Bobbie R. Noe of Mitchell; children, Sherry (Donald) Hagemier Miller, Vicki (Steve) Hagemier Williams, and Mike Hagemier; grandchildren, Steven Ragsdale, Quinshetta Johnson, Chelsea Guerro, Tressyn Gehl, Hugh Hagemier, Dara Hagemier, Misty Abner, Eric Miller, Kaydy Fults, Shain Mann, Desnekka Taylor, Sarah Wright, Dawn Rodriguez, Aimee McCauley, Brittany Marek, Zach Fleenor, and Chloe Kloss; and son-in-law, David Guerro.

Dorothy Jane Terrell
BEDFORD – Dorothy Jane Terrell, 88, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at her residence.
Born March 20, 1938, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Greenie and Ruby (York) Mounce. She married Robert Eugene Terrell on June 9, 1959 and he survives. They were married for 67 years.
Dorothy worked at Duckers and RCA, and retired from Dana Corporation. She loved taking care of kids – and sometimes had a whole house full. Dorothy enjoyed going to yard sales. She was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Eugene Terrell of Bedford; sons, Tony (Shelly) Terrell of Huron and Kevin (Sabrina) Terrell of Williams; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jake (Joyce) Mounce of Mitchell, Judy (Sonny) Kern of Mitchell, Betty (Leslie) Hart of Bedford, and Danny (Becky) Mounce of Mitchell.
Her parents; children, Marcella “Marcie” Powell, Donnie Spires, Connie Spires, and Bobby Terrell; and siblings, Charles Mounce, Sue Terry, Bert Mounce, and Sharon Russell, preceded her in death.

James Lee “Jimmy” Merry, Jr.
July 3, 1970 – August 4, 2026
James Lee “Jimmy” Merry, Jr., 56, of Ellettsville, IN, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his residence. Born July 3, 1970, he was the son of James and Harriet (Crouch) Merry, Sr.
“Jimmy” as he was called, (amateur radio callsign, KC9RPX), was strongly involved in amateur radio, holding positions of ARRL Indiana Section Manager, Club Coordinator, and Monroe County Emergency Communications Coordinator. He was past president of the Bloomington Amateur Radio Club. He was the voice of net control for hundreds of South-Central Indiana amateur radio nets over the years.
He was involved with the Bedford-North Lawrence Memorial website that lists the passing of past BNL graduates by their graduating class. He took pride in having this information for families and friends.
Jimmy was an IHSSA baseball and football official for many years. He officiated games at Bedford-North Lawrence High School, North Lawrence Junior High Schools, Bloomington North and South High Schools and Middle Schools, and Eastern Greene High School and Middle School as well as other schools in Indiana.
Jimmy was a baseball enthusiast and participated in the local group known as the Limestone League. He was the proud Manager of the Merry Marlins from 1993 to the present, and he is greatly missed by all his Limestone League family.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Harriet Merry, Sr.; sister, Susan Merry; and grandparents, Sherman Lee and Anah Crouch.
A graveside committal service for Jimmy will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Spice Valley Cemetery, Spice Valley Rd., Mitchell, IN.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Daniel Joseph (Joe) Kirkman
Daniel Joseph (Joe) Kirkman, 88, passed away Friday, August 14, 2026 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Joe was born in Avoca, son of Roscoe and Bernice Kirkman. He began working at age 15 at Nick’s Service Station in Oolitic, Indiana. He left for basic training in the Marine Corps the day following his high school graduation from Needmore. Joe completed basic training earning the only meritorious award in his platoon, leading to a position in the Marine Security Detachment aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific.
Following honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Joe worked as a lineman for Public Service, then joined the Bedford Police Department graduating first in his class from the Police Academy. He later went on to teach at the Law Enforcement Academy in Indiana.
While employed as a police officer, Joe served as a patrolman, a detective, and as Chief of Police. During his tenure at the police department, he attended the FBI academy in Washington, D.C. While at the police department Joe began the ‘Officer Friendly’ program and the first ‘911’ program in the state of Indiana. He served as Vice President of the Chief of Police organization in Indiana, working on a 10-person committee that was awarded millions of dollars for community improvements. Joe earned his master’s degree in community planning from the University of Louisville. After leaving the Police Department, Joe worked at the Ford Visteon plant for 20 years in a leadership position. His hobby was working on renovations for rental homes. Joe loved basketball and was a proud member of the Needmore high school team. He loved people and was a friend to many in the Bedford area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mitchell.
Surviving Joe in death are his wife Ann, his daughters Missy and Maria, grandchildren Joseph, Anna Maria and her husband Adrian, Alexandra, and Mellisa Anne. He was blessed with three great-grandchildren Roman, Lucius, and Julian.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law Opal and Helen Hall, his son-in-law Dr. Sam Hall, and his siblings Rev. Bob Kirkman, Bill Kirkman, Patsy Jackson, Carol Pennington, Tom Kirkman, and Joan Burton.

Joan Rosalie Stanley
Joan Rosalie Stanley, 88, of Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington, Indiana.
Born January 14, 1938, at home, in Knightstown, Indiana she was the daughter of Raymond Eugene and Edith Faye (Steele) Sharp. She grew up in this small town and loved telling her family stories about her childhood. She was able to walk wherever she wanted to go in Knightstown and even walked home from school for lunch daily. She maintained lifelong friendships with several girlfriends from Knightstown, visiting with those remaining as recently as last fall.
Joan was a 1956 graduate of Knightstown High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1986 from the University of San Francisco and earned her Master’s degree in 1993 in Management Science from Indiana Wesleyan University. She was a nationally certified drug and alcohol abuse counselor and worked a variety of jobs in that field. In 2003 she retired from the Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, KY where she worked in the Safe and Drug Free Schools Program. After retirement she worked as an adjunct professor for Oakland City University and Indiana Wesleyan University and thoroughly enjoyed working with those adult students well into her seventies.
She was a lifelong bridge player, most recently playing in Bedford with the Panhellenic group. They played 2 or 3 times a month and she kept that up until this past spring. Bridge was her favorite pastime.
Surviving are her children, Kim Stanley Barnay of Springville, Susan Stanley (Wendell) Wilkinson of Bedford, and Joel Roy (Debbie) Stanley of Prospect, Kentucky; grandchildren, Nicholas Allen Stanley, Seth John Barany, and Amelia Rose Wilkinson; step grandchildren, Rachelle Ahaus, Ashley Gill, and Matthew Wilkinson; great granddaughter, Jane Logan Stanley; step great grandchildren, Janeva Gill, Colton Gill, Asher Ahaus, Ruthie Ahaus, and Audyn Wilkinson; and brother, James W. Sharp of Mesa, Arizona. Joan doted on her grandchildren and spent many happy hours with all of them, their GiGi will always hold a special place in their hearts.
Her parents and brother, Garry Sharp, precede her in death.
Celebration of Life will be held at noon Friday, August 28, at Jacob Finger Methodist Church in Mitchell, Indiana, where Joan was a member for many years.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church.

Sharon Ann Russell
WASHINGTON – Sharon Ann Russell, 83, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper.
Born July 8, 1943, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Greenie and Ruby (York) Mounce. She married Charles David Craig who preceded her in death December 25, 2003, married Tom Ward who preceded her in death April 24, 2011, and married John Russell Jr. who preceded her in death August 5, 2020.
Sharon worked as a baker at Mitchell Manor, and retired from Dana Corporation as a laborer. She was a member of Higher Ground United Pentecostal Church in French Lick and loved to attend.
Surviving are her children, Deborah Lynn Bauer of Washington, Diane Early of Mitchell, Richard Craig of Brownsburg, and Sandra Guthrie of Mitchell; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dorothy Terrell of Mitchell, Jake Mounce of Mitchell, Judy Kern of Mitchell, Betty Hart of Bedford, and Danny Mounce of Mitchell.
Her parents; husbands; daughter, Kathy Turner; and siblings, Charles Mounce, Sue Terry, and Bert Mounce, preceded her in death.

David “Dave” Robert Allbright
MITCHELL – David “Dave” Robert Allbright, 75, passed away Friday, August 14, 2026, at Majestic Care of Bedford.
Born June 8, 1951, in Daviess County, he was the son of Oscar Benjamin and Betty Jacquline (Tow) Allbright. He married Carla Sue Gress on March 20, 1971 and she survives.
Dave was a 1969 graduate of Shoals High School. In 1970, he enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Vietnam era, based in Thailand. He worked for National Gypsum and retired as a supervisor. Dave was a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ. He loved to travel, particularly visiting Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountains, or going to Denver, Colorado.
Dave is survived by his wife, Carla Sue Allbright of Mitchell; children, Lynn Marie (Corey) Mooneyham of Bedford and Melissa “Missy” Sue Allbright of Mitchell; grandchildren, Kelsey (David) Kendall of Mitchell, Alex (Katie DeLawter) Saunders of Chicago, Carter Saunders of Mitchell, Macey (Dylan Daehler) McNeely of Bloomington, Brady Bauer of Mitchell, Cruze Guthrie of Mitchell, Jacob Mooneyham of Mitchell, and Emma Mooneyham of Bedford; and great-grandchildren, Luke Kendall and Levi Kendall of Mitchell;

Danny Lee “Dan” Eggersman

Danny Lee “Dan” Eggersman, 84, of Seymour, IN, passed away on August 12, 2026, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour. He was born on July 9, 1942, in Seymour to the late Bertha (Farrell) Boofer and Lawrence Eggersman.
Dan lived in Jackson County most of his life and graduated from Seymour High School in 1960. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on several boards. He was baptized on July 10, 1942, and confirmed in Christ. On August 4, 1962, he married Linda Sue Cox. They were married for 46 years until her passing in August 2008.
Danny loved to hunt, raise bird dogs, farm, haul grain, and work on cars and engines. He worked at Cordes Hardware, Cummins Engine Company, Eggersman Enterprises LLC, and various small jobs throughout his life. He always said he met some special people while growing up and working.
He loved his family and friends and always looked forward to their visits. He also loved going on a good bird hunt with his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Kevin) Davis of Seymour, IN; his son, Gregory (Paula) Eggersman of Jonesville, IN; his grandchildren, Lindsey (Kit) Venderley, Trevor Davis, and Tyler (Molly) Davis, all of Seymour, IN; Alyssa (Jimmy) Hall of Franklin, IN; great-grandchildren Easton Fleetwood, Rhett and Wrenleigh Venderley, Emilia and Sandler Davis, and soon to be Davis twins, Aubrey and Piper Hall; half-sister, Donna Bedel of Jacksonville, FL; half-brother, Garry Boofer of Seymour, IN; his siblings’ children, Troy (Maureen) Eggersman of Dallas, GA, Todd (Mary) Eggersman of Woodstock, GA, Nicole (Bill) Thompson of Alpharetta, GA, Jason Bedel of Columbus, OH, and Darby Boofer of Seymour, IN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Danny Lee “Dan” Eggersman, 84, of Seymour, IN, passed away on August 12, 2026, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour. He was born on July 9, 1942, in Seymour to the late Bertha (Farrell) Boofer and Lawrence Eggersman.
Dan lived in Jackson County most of his life and graduated from Seymour High School in 1960. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on several boards. He was baptized on July 10, 1942, and confirmed in Christ. On August 4, 1962, he married Linda Sue Cox. They were married for 46 years until her passing in August 2008.

Michael Scott Christie
FT. WAYNE – Michael Scott Christie, 63, formerly of Scottsburg, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at his residence.
Born October 5, 1962, in Brookings, South Dakota, he was the son of John “Jack” and Sue (Frakes) Christie. He married Carrie Renea Grow on October 9, 1982 and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2017.
Mike was a 1981 graduate of Mitchell High School. He worked at Scott’s Ace Hardware in Scottsburg for 30 plus years, eventually becoming manager. Mike and his siblings helped their dad farm the family farm, and he loved spending time there and at the family lake. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and family, fishing, grilling, and yard work. Mike was an avid Purdue fan and liked listening to music, especially The Eagles. Most of all, Mike loved his grandchildren, and it was always important to him that they knew that.
Surviving are his children, John Michael (Jodie) Christie of Scottsburg and Cara Sue (Emmett, IV) Dalton of Campbellsburg; grandchildren, Emmett Dalton, V, Jessalynn Dalton, Mason Dalton, and Jeffrey Michael Christie; sister-in-law, Debbie Christie of Madison; nieces, Elizabeth Christie Kennan and Haley Snelling; nephew, Ryder Snelling. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His parents; wife; brother, John Christie; sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Randy Snelling; niece, Christie Snelling; and uncle, Robert Christie, preceded him in death.

Sharon L. Quackenbush, 94, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. She was born August 24, 1931, in Bedford, to Van and Carmita (Hill) Bridwell. She married Jack Quackenbush on May 10, 1947, and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1996.
Sharon was a homemaker and a cook at Bedford-North Lawrence High School. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards, and crocheting. Sharon was a fantastic cook and a member of Hillcrest Christian Church.
Surviving to cherish Sharon’s memory are her children, Randy (Linda) Quackenbush, Beth (Steve) Blackwell and Lori (Jim) Kolzcak; grandchildren, Shellie (Gary) Ooley, Kristy Hawkins, Jason (Anna) Blackwell, Jeremy Blackwell, Janae (Travis) Snow, Jared Blackwell, Sam Kolzcak, and Sarah Kolzcak; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding Sharon in death were her parents, Van and Carmita Bridwell; husband, Jack; daughter, Terri Robbins; grandson, Jack Quackenbush; granddaughter, Jadie Blackwell; great-grandson, Dylan Duncan; sisters, Libby Hicks and Nancy Bundy; and brother, Bob Bridwell.

Janice S. Wilde, 86, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at The Lutheran Community Home, surrounded by the family who loved her. Born on October 23, 1939, in Clear Springs, IN, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Leroy and Bettie Catherine (Bacon) Martin.
She graduated from Shields High School in 1957 and received an associate degree from Purdue University School of Technology. On January 6, 1978, Jan married the love of her life, James F. Wilde. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2020. They made their home in Seymour, IN. She worked at George’s of Seymour Inc. for thirteen years and then at The Lutheran Community Home for twenty-seven years.
Jan’s faith began at a young age and was very important to her, sustaining her through life’s difficult times. She was a member of Central Christian Church for forty-five years, where she filled many roles and sang in the choir. In 1996, she joined Immanuel Lutheran Church and was involved in many groups, including the Friends Bible Study Group and the Visually Impaired Group for twelve and a half years. She also sang in the choir. She was more than a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 134, where she served as past matron and pianist.
Through the years, time took a toll on friends and family. Jan stayed in contact with her childhood friend, Amy Mullins Price, whom she met at Clear Springs Grade School and who presently resides in Louisville, KY. Jan dearly loved her parents, siblings, husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her heart adopted children of all ages, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jan is survived by her stepchildren, Don (Sue) Wilde, Dick (Debra) Wilde, and Jerri (Dave) Duchanine; five step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Bettie Martin ; her beloved husband, James; her brothers, Bob Martin and Bill Martin; and her sisters, Lorene Forgey and Laverne Burnside.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Burkholder Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut St., Seymour, IN, with the Rev. Philip Bloch officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour, IN. Corrine Burcham, 95, of Bedford, passed away on August 10, 2026, at Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington. Born at her home in Greene County on June 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Otis Lloyd and Goldie Blaker Sparks. On January 18, 1951, she married Samuel Burcham, Jr., and he preceded her in death in November of 2000.
Corrine found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending time with loved ones, and watching game shows. She also enjoyed solving Sudoku and crossword puzzles, cross-stitching, and knitting comforters for family members.
Surviving to cherish Corrine’s memory are her children, Debbie (Carey) Wood, Steven A. Linda Lou Gates, 88, of Bedford, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Indiana University Hospital in Bloomington. She was born on September 27, 1937, in Bedford, to the late Harold and Dorothy Smith Covey. On April 27, 1957, she married Kenneth Gates, and he survives.
Linda graduated from Bedford High School with the class of 1955 and later retired from JCPenney after several years of dedicated service. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and had also been a member of the American Women’s Baptist Ministry (AWBM) and the Bedford Hiking Club. Linda was an outstanding cook and took great pride in caring for her beautiful peony bushes. She remained close to many of her former coworkers throughout the years and treasured those lasting friendships. She was also a devoted supporter of her family, rarely missing an opportunity to watch her children and grandchildren play sports. She enjoyed watching sports herself and could often be found cheering on her favorite teams. Above all, Linda loved her family dearly and cherished the time spent together, creating memories that will be treasured by those who knew and loved her.
Surviving to cherish Linda’s memory is her husband, Kenneth Gates; son, Kris (Melody) Gates; and grandchildren, Kitch Gates, Keenan (Kenzi) Gates, Jacklyn (Ethan) Reynolds, Chelsey Tolbert, Zachary (Jackie) Tolbert, Candice (Adam) Blackwood, and Amanda Gates; also several great grandchildren; one brother William Covey; and several nieces and nephews.

Michael “Mick” J. Reynolds
MITCHELL – Michael “Mick” J. Reynolds, 81, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.
Born November 28, 1944, in Louisville, he was the son of Wallace E. Reynolds and Pernie (Houchin) Mesarosh. He married Linda “Sue” Morris on December 27, 1968 and she survives.
Mick was a 1962 graduate of Mitchell High School. In May of 1962, he enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Vietnam era. He worked for General Motors as a die setter for almost 35 years before retiring and was a member of the UAW Local 440. Mick was a member of the American Legion Post No. 250, Sugar Creek Sportsman Club, and White River Bowhunters – of which he volunteered many hours.
Mick truly loved the outdoors and found his greatest joy in the simple moments of life. Some of his happiest times were spent sitting on the porch with the love of his life, Sue, sharing their morning coffee and watching the birds together; or taking a country drive to look for deer or turkey. These drives often ended at one of their children’s or grandchildren’s houses for a visit. Mick cherished every moment spent with his children, and he was overwhelmingly proud of his two grandsons. Mick’s seven great-grandchildren brought an extra spark to his life, and he absolutely adored them. His legacy of love, warmth, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Mick was an avid hunter. He spent many hours in the woods throughout his life. He greatly enjoyed hunting with his son, grandsons, and friends; often boasting about who would get the biggest or most game. Mick’s passion for hunting led him to South Africa twice on big game hunts – one with his wife and the other with his very good friend Cliff Jones. He also enjoyed many deep sea fishing trips out of Mexico Beach with family and very good friends.
Mick is survived by his loving wife, Sue Reynolds of Mitchell; children, Tammy Sue Kesterson of Orleans and Michael Scott (Lisa) Reynolds of Mitchell; grandchildren, Cole Edmond (Cameryn) Reynolds of Mitchell and Ethan Michael (Jacklyn) Reynolds of Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Lilly Renee Reynolds, Charlee Elise Reynolds, Cleo Rose Reynolds, Wyatt Michael Reynolds, Brooklyn Christinne Reynolds, Creek Jackson Reynolds, and Lukas Larry Reynolds; brothers, Gary (LeeAnn) Mesarosh and David (Becky) Mesarosh; several special cousins, Jim Luttrell of Brownsville, Kentucky, Park Houchin of Mitchell, and Cynthia Peters of Bedford; and several other cousins, nephews, and nieces

Bonnie L. Ingle, 84, of Bedford, passed away on August 9, 2026, at her home. She was born in Bedford on February 24, 1942, to the late Joseph Leck Brown and Geneva Miller Brown. On March 6, 1959, she married Robert “Bob” Ingle, and he preceded her in death.
Bonnie was a homemaker who devoted much of her life to caring for her family and creating a warm and loving home. She took great pride in her family and enjoyed being surrounded by those she loved. Bonnie loved to read, crochet, sew, and travel, finding enjoyment in both her hobbies and the time she was able to spend with family and friends. In her younger years, she and Bob enjoyed going to auctions together and looked forward to the excitement of finding something special. Over the years, Bonnie created many cherished memories through the simple joys of everyday life.

Helen (Collins) Stewart

Helen Collins Stewart, 89, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the family who loved her so dearly. Helen was born on May 7, 1937, in Vardy, TN, to the late Crodell Collins and Viola Mae Gibson Collins.
On November 21, 1961, Helen married the love of her life, Marvin Edward Stewart, in Jackson County, IN. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and home. Marvin preceded her in death on October 12, 2001.
Helen was a mother of many, but to her family, she was so much more than that. Helen was comfort. Helen was home. Helen was the heart of our family. She was the person who made you feel loved simply by being near her. Her home was a place where you could always come back to, where there was always room for one more, and where love was never in short supply.
Helen devoted her life to her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and everyone fortunate enough to call her family. Her greatest joy was the family she created and the generations that came after her.
She is survived by her four daughters, Polly (Steven) Mullins of Freetown, Dianne Stewart of Brownstown, Connie (Roger) Stuckwisch of Bedford, and Janie (Tim) Newkirk of Brownstown; and her son, Rick Stewart of Texas City, TX. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, Robert Jr., Brian, Christi, Ricky, Helen, Jonathan, Angel, Adrian, Cory, Joshua, Dylan, Angela, Ryan, and David; 34 great-grandchildren, with another precious great-grandchild expected in March; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marilyn Fry Collins; along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished dearly.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Crodell Collins and Viola Mae Gibson Collins; her stepmother, Eva Bell Collins; her beloved husband, Marvin Edward Stewart; her sons, Marvin Franklin Stewart and Billy Joe Stewart; her great-great-granddaughter, Emma Isabella; her daughter-in-law, Betsy Stewart; her son-in-law, Robert; her sisters, Betty Collins and Annette Striner; and her brothers, Roland Collins and Denver Collins.
Helen knew the deepest kind of love, the love of a mother, a grandmother, and a family matriarch. She experienced the joy of watching her family grow through the generations while also carrying the heartbreak of losing those she loved along the way. Even through life's hardest moments, Helen's love remained the thread that held her family together.
There will never be another mom who is quite like her. We will miss her voice. We will miss her hugs. We will miss sitting beside her. We will miss hearing her stories and sharing the everyday moments that once seemed so ordinary but now mean everything. We will miss being able to walk through her door and know that Mom was there.
Her passing leaves a space in our family that can never be filled. But her love will continue through every child she raised, every grandchild she adored, every great-grandchild she watched grow, and every generation that carries a piece of her forward. And someday, when it is our time to make our way home, we know Mom will be there, just as she always was—with the door open, the light on, and a loving heart waiting for us. Mothers never really die. They simply keep the house up in heaven.

Julie Margaret Taylor
MITCHELL – Julie Margaret Taylor, 64, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born November 28, 1961, in Ulysses, Kansas, she was the daughter of Troy Lee and Alice (Cheich) Pyles. She married Robert Jeffrey Taylor on July 12, 1988 and he survives.
Julie was a graduate of Alva High School in Alva, Oklahoma. She was a foreman at the Oklahoma Furniture Company. Julie was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Mitchell.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Jeffrey Taylor of Mitchell, and sister, Kathy Pyles of Mitchell.
Her parents; son, Dusten Lee Taylor; and brothers, Johnny Pyles and Ronald Lee Pyles, preceded her in death.

Judith Elaine “Judy” Terry, 84, formerly of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington. Born November 8, 1941, in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of Robert Elmo Wilson and Melba Deboil Creech-Wilson. She married James Edwin “Jim” Terry on August 25, 1962, and he survives.
Judy graduated from Paoli High School in 1959, received a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana State University in 1963, and later a master’s degree from Indiana University. Retiring in 2019, Judy was an educator for 54 years. She spent 34 of those years in elementary classrooms, and 20 years traveling to elementary and middle schools teaching English as a Second Language. She also was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the First Baptist Church in Bedford.
Surviving to cherish Judy’s memory is her husband, Jim; daughter, Jama (Brad) Dale; son, Jason (Fiona) Terry; grandchildren, Kara (David) Paynter, Adam (Ella) Dale, Anna (Riley) Callahan, Nathan (Isabel) Dale, and Isadora Terry; great grandchildren, Lillian, Jeremiah, Isabella, Zachariah, Levi, Isaiah and Gideon Paynter, and Kinsley Callahan; and two brothers, Keith and David Wilson.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Melba Wilson.
Funeral services for Judy will be held at 12:00noon on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, 1515 20th St. Bedford, IN, with Pastor Jason Filler officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens, Dixie Highway, Bedford. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, and on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 11:00am until 12:00noon at the First Baptist Church.

Michael Alan Rife
BEDFORD – Michael Alan Rife, 50, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born August 9, 1975, in Logansport, he was the son of Manford and Ellen (Draper) Rife.
Mike received his Associate’s Degree from Ivy Tech and worked as a CNC Machinist. He enjoyed cars, working on computers, and shooting guns. Mike was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are his siblings, Mark (Samantha) Rife of Mitchell and Kristina (Mark) Caudill of Bedford; mother, Ellen Rife; and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
His father preceded him in death.
Cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Darrell Wayne Irwin
MITCHELL – Darrell Wayne Irwin, 77, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026, at his residence.
Born August 20, 1948, in Milan, Indiana, he was the son of Clarence Volney and Betty Jean (Chastain) Irwin. He married Viola Jo Grogan on January 1, 2016 and she survives.
Darrell was a 1966 graduate of Mitchell High School and was a Marine Corps veteran achieving the rank of Lance Corporal. He was a general contractor and owner of Irwin Construction. He enjoyed working on his farm. Darrell was a member of Huron Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Viola Jo Irwin of Mitchell; children, Lisa Grace, Kerri Barlow, and Misty Jacox; step-children, James (Betty) Brown and Candy (Gary) Williams; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dale Irwin, Jeannie Kruder, Garold (Joy) Irwin, and Harold (Alexandra) Irwin.
His parents and brother, Clarence Irwin, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, at the Huron Baptist Church with Pastor William “Skip” Mathews officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.

Timber Brooke Tarr
MITCHELL – Timber Brooke Tarr, 38, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at IU Health Methodist Hospital, following a motor vehicle accident.
Born May 27, 1988, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Randy Cohen Tarr and Ella Lynette “Lynn” (Knight) Manns.
Timber was a 2007 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School. She was a nursing aide, working in home health care. Timber was high spirited and loved to talk. She was a hard worker and being a people person helped with her love for helping others. Timber was a sponsor for people battling addition and a mentor for many. When she wasn’t helping other people, she loved to spend time with her kids.
Surviving are her children, Joslynn Chastain of Bedford, Josiah Cobb of Springville, and Madalynn Cobb of Springville; sister, Erica (Sara Tillette) Tarr of Mitchell; step-sister, Madison Gouldy Manns of Bloomington; mother, Lynn Manns of Heltonville; step-father, James Manns of Heltonville; maternal grandparents, Ron and Kay Knight of Bedford; nieces and nephews, Briley Slaughterback, Peyton Slaughterback, and McKenzi Tillette; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Randy Cohen Tarr
MITCHELL – Randy Cohen Tarr, 65, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Bedford, following a motor vehicle accident.
Born July 3, 1961, in Bedford, he was the son of Joseph Marvin Sr. and Mildred Eloise (Lindsey) Tarr.
Randy was a 1980 graduate of Mitchell High School. He retired from GE, working as an assembler and was the Union Steward. Randy was an avid fan of IU Basketball. His kids and grandkids were his world. Some of Randy’s favorite sayings were: “God came first, kids and grandkids second, family came third.” and “If it was meant to be, it will be.”
Surviving are his daughter, Erica (Sara Tillette) Tarr of Mitchell; grandchildren, Briley Slaughterback, Peyton Slaughterback, McKenzi Tillette, Joslynn Chastain, Josiah Cobb, and Madalynn Cobb; siblings, Sandy Eastridge of Mitchell, Beth (Bryan) Newlin of Orleans, Lana (Tim) Duncan of Bloomington, Gary (Tersa) Tarr of Mitchell, Joe (Tammie) Tarr of Bedford, Bob (Gloria) Tarr of Denver, Colorado, and Beverly (Todd) Chastain of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kenneth W. Ratliff
Kenneth W. Ratliff, 93 of Bedford passed away on August 1, 2026, at White River Lodge in Bedford. Kenneth was born in Bedford on October 9, 1932, to Carl Ratliff and Dorothy (Burton) Ratliff Tyree. Kenneth married Sharon Terrell on August 24, 1957, and she survives.
Kenneth retired from General Motors in Bedford, he was a veteran of the US Army, he was member of the Englewood Baptist Church and the U.A.W. Local #440 in Bedford.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ratliff of Bedford, daughter, LeAnn (Rennie) Fish of Bedford, granddaughter, Sarah (Bill) Wolfred of Carmel, great granddaughter, Emma D. Wolfred of Carmel.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Carl Ratliff, his mother and stepfather, Dorothy Tyree and Warren Tyree, son, Kenneth Ratliff, Jr., sister, Betty White, brother, Donnie Ratliff.

William Samuel Edmonson, Jr.
MITCHELL – William Samuel “Bill Bill” Edmonson, Jr., 55, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born January 8, 1971, in Bedford, he was the son of William Sr. and Connie (Helton) Edmonson. He married Hope Longest on April 9, 1999 and she survives.
Bill worked at Fibertech, Inc. as a welder and doing mechanical maintenance. He was a man of many hobbies: doing mechanic work, collecting rocks, RC cars, and coin collecting. Bill loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Hope Edmonson; children, Kenneth (Sumer) Edmonson, Nathan (Whitney) Edmonson, Kurtis Edmonson, Nicholas Edmonson, Austin Longest, Nicole (Robert) Allen, and Destiny (Cody) Garrison; 15 grandchildren; sister, Jenelle Barton; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; grandson, Samuel Edmonson; and siblings, Melissa Pemberton, Elizabeth Knight, and James Ritchison, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Cremation will follow.
