Green — Joan L. (Terry) Green, 63, Mitchell, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday at her residence. Born Aug. 25, 1943, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of John Lester and Thelma Mae (Jenkins) Terry. She married Ronald Newton Green July 1, 1960. She had been employed at Paoli Desk Inc. and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Ron Green Sr. of Mitchell; a daughter, Kathy Jo Baker and husband Tim of League City, Texas; a son, Ronnie Green Jr. of Orleans; grandchildren, Dakota Bryan Baker, Kendall Jo Baker, Logan Brooke Baker, Dawson Cole Baker, Macii Lynn Green and Ava Elizabeth Rose Green; and three sisters: Eva Kellams of Mitchell, Dorothy Hamilton of Columbus, and Pat Jones of Martinsville. Her parents; brother, Harry “Bud” Terry; and sister, Linda Clipp, preceded her in death. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Memorial Chapel of the Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell with the Rev. Carl Brown and Morris Chastain officiating. Burial will be in Saltillo Cemetery. Terrell — James Christopher Terrell – At 11:45 p.m. June 27, surrounded by his family, church family and beloved and dearest friends, Chris won his battle with cancer with a complete healing from God. He was a courageous and mighty warrior and inspired many of us to never give up. Born Aug. 11, 1962, in Lawrence County, he was the son of James Terrell and Diane (Reynolds) Miller. He married Debbie Briscoe on March 20, 1993, and she survives. He was a retired Plastic Technician at Visteon in Bedford, a member of Fairview Community Church and a former member of IUE/CWA Union. Surviving with his wife, Debbie; is one daughter, Samantha Jo Terrell at home; his parents, James and Pam Terrell and Diane and Darrell Miller; and two stepbrothers, Christopher Terrell and wife Ronnetta of Bedford and Michael Lee Miller of Shepherdsville, Ky.; one stepsister, Dana Dolan and husband Mike of Shepherdsville, Ky., and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by grandmothers, Edna Terrell of Mitchell and Helen Reynolds of Bedford; and aunt Susie Reynolds, who was like a second mother. Preceded by grandfathers, Floyd Terrell and James Reynolds. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Lindy Hopkins officiating. Stogdill — Cecil D. Stogdill , 99, of 2318 30th Street passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 24 in Bedford. Born January 27, 1908, he was the son of Sherman and Lully (Nelson) Stogdill. He married Emma M. Adams on September 14, 1940. He was a retired bricklayer/contractor. He was a member of the Lovingway Apostolic Church in Bedford. Survivors include his wife Emma of Bedford, one son, David Ray Stogdill of Bedford; three daughters: Leona Wilkerson of Columbus, Mary Lewis of Columbus, and Catherine Sue Stephenson and her husband Max of Bedford; seven grandchildren: Stacey Barksdale, Rev. Wesley Stephenson, Debbie Pridemore, Dana Anderson, Cindy Ward, Deana Johnson and Brady Stogdill, and nine great-grandchildren: Megan Pridemore, Marissa and Madison Anderson, Connor and Chloe Ward, Wesley Stephenson II, Troi Dawn and Derrike Barksdale and Braden Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Harold Dean Stogdill, three brothers, and seven sisters, and one daughter-in-law, Diana Stogdill. Holt — Oma Mae Holt, 88, 1020 Stevens Street, Mitchell, died at 5:09 p.m. Saturday at Mitchell Manor Nursing Center in Mitchell. Born May 11, 1919, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Elmer R. and Elsie (Wade) Parish. She married Ernest D. Holt on Aug. 15, 1935, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Mitchell. Survivors include two daughters: Kathleen Massey and husband Carl of Mitchell and Joyce Frost and husband Ronnie of Bedford; one son, Roy Holt and wife Belinda of Mitchell; 23 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters: Charlotte J. Passmore and Margaret J. Tanksley; one son, Kenneth F. Holt; three grandsons: John Elrod, Greg Massey and Darren Tanksley; one great-granddaughter, Kimberly Henritz; and four brothers: Lloyd, Lowell Dean, Charles and Carl Parish. Phillips — Boyd Edward Phillips, 58, 164 Phillips Lane, Springville, passed away at 9:09 a.m. Sunday at Bloomington Hospital. Born October 22, 1948, in Wayne County, Ky., he was the son of Lee Wesley Phillips and Ottie Mae (Thompson) Phillips. He married Mary Phillips on October 14, 1967 and she survives. He retired from General Electric. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Theresa Phillips of Bloomington and Denise Haggard of Monrovia; one son, Kyle Phillips of Guthrie; four grandchildren, Jared Haggard, Blake Davis, Silas Phillips and Liam Phillips; two brothers, Wendell Phillips and Danny Phillips, both of Springville; three sisters, Loretta Keseric of Ellettsville, Joyce Godsey of Guthrie, and Sue Keithley of Springville. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers Hobart, Goldie, Rufus and William Phillips; and four sisters, Mossie Martin, Evalee Phillips, Claire Phillips and Pauline Phillips. Flynn — Ronald Flynn, 65, of Oolitic, died at 2:40 p.m. Thursday at Westview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford. Born August 25, 1941, in Henryville, he was the son of Bennie J. and Ethel M. (Smith) Flynn. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Evening Light Gospel Singers. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include one son, Ronald Dean Flynn of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Rhonda Mikel of Noblesville; one grandson, Phillip Mikel of Noblesville; four sisters, Elayne Kimmel and husband Steve, Mary Frances Phillips and husband Robert, Delores Phillips and husband Homer and Doris Harris all of Springville; two brothers, Dwayne Flynn and wife Diana of Springville, Kenneth Flynn and wife Beulah of Solsberry; a sister-in-law Shirley Flynn and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bennie L. Flynn; his maternal grandparents, Albert and Amanda Smith; his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Sarah Flynn. Ritchie — Betty Jean Ritchie, 75, 727 Columbus Avenue, Bedford, died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday at Westview Nursing & Rehab Center in Bedford. Born Sept. 19, 1931, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Leslie A. and Priscilla A. (Curts) Sears. She married Fred J. Ritchie on March 17, 1956, in Martin County, and he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Union Christian Church. Surviving with her husband, Fred J. Ritchie of Bedford; are one daughter, Jamie L. Kirkman and husband Jerry D. of Avoca; one son, John “Doug” Ritchie and wife Mary B. of Bedford; four grandchildren: Jennifer Kirkman, Jessica Pruett and husband Curtis, Jerrin Kirkman, and Laura Montgomery and husband Bryan; one great-grandson, Riley Pruett; one brother, David Sears and wife, Becky of Bedford; one sister, Clara Noel of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jona Sears; and two brothers: Leslie A. Sears Jr. and Ronnie Sears. Graveside services will follow the visitation Thursday at the Old Union Christian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Chase officiating. Burial will follow. Stonestreet — Grace B. Stonestreet, 89, 32 Spencer Pike Road, Springville, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 19 at 6:54 p.m. Born Aug. 17, 1917, in Owenton, Ky., she was the daughter of John Thomas and Lula Belle (Parker) Duvall. She married Charles Thomas Stonestreet Nov. 23, 1939, and he died April 1, 1968. They had one daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) Stonestreet Bartley. A niece, Betty (Duvall) West, also lived in their home. She was a homemaker, as well as a member of the First Wesleyan Church of Bedford, where she passionately served as missionary director for over 32 years. Two granddaughters, Grace Flynn and husband William of Springville (with whom she lived), and Beth Wykoff and her fiance´ Tim Buente of Bedford survive her. There is one grandson, Robert N. Wykoff Jr. and his wife Susan of Bedford. There are 12 great-grandchildren: Heide, Chad, Luke, Michael, and Emily Flynn; Justin Canfield, Jared Canfield and his wife Amy, Stacie (Canfield) Deckard and her husband Tyler, Samantha and John Canfield; Robin (Wykoff) Seibe and her husband Jonathon, and Brandi (Wykoff) Puckett and her husband Mike. There are seven great-great-grandchildren: Austin Pemberton, Taylor and Ian Canfield, Olivia Newlin, Elodie Canfield, and Hayden and Carson Puckett. Three brothers also survive her: John P., Hugh J. and Melvin Duvall, as well as, two sisters: Adele Bowyer and Thelma Spaulding. There are several nieces and nephews surviving that will greatly miss “Aunt B.” Preceding her in death are her husband; daughter; parents; and two brothers: Morris and Elmo (who died in infancy); and a sister, Sybil Lusby. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the First Wesleyan Church on 24th and H streets in Bedford, with Pastor Gordon Tilley conducting the funeral services.
Logsdon — Christine Logsdon, 73, 131 Green Hill Addition Road, Bedford, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born January 27, 1934, in Hart County, Ky., she was the daughter of Orion and Mary (Obannon) McKinney. She married William “Bill” H. Logsdon on March 13, 1948 and he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Bill of Bedford; three children: Julia Tow and husband David, Joyce Inman and husband Jack and Sam Logsdon and wife Sharon all of Bedford; six grandchildren: Toby Tow and wife Teresa of Bedford, Jeff Tow and wife Joyce of Ninevah, Melissa Kusturin and husband Joe of Bedford, Marla Eltrevoog and husband Jason of Seneca, Ill., Jessica Soules and husband Brian of Union, Ky., and Jeremy Logsdon of Terre Haute; nine great-grandchildren: Codi, Brittani, Cherith, Tanner Tow, Kacy Inman, Emily, Eli and Addie Eltrevoog and Kendall Soules; and one sister, Norma Jean Church of Horse Cave, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Randall McKinney. Bloyd — Jean Bloyd, 83, 302 Eastwood Drive, Bedford, died at 12:36 p.m. Tuesday at the Bloomington Hospital. Born September 19, 1923, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Fred and Arlie Bridwell. She married James Ellsworth Bloyd and he preceded her in death. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include two loving children: Terry Bloyd and wife Sandra of Jasper, Ga. and Debbie Blanchet and husband Charles of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren: Christopher, Alicia, Ryan, and Neil; one great-grandchild, Dylan. Holt — Robert S. Holt, Scott, was born May 18, 1962, in Lawrence County to Robert Leo and Sarah Bryant. He wed Rita Suzann Baker on Sept. 26, 1986, at Otis Park. He was employed at Manchester Tank in Bedford, where he enjoyed being a welder. Scott is survived by his wife, Suzann; one daughter, Sarita, two sons: Ricky Holmes and wife Robin of Springville and Eric Holmes and fiancee´ Cherie Garza of Springville; two grandchildren: Tyler Holmes and Cruz Holmes. He is also survived by his mother, Sarah Bryant of Oolitic; his father, Bobby Holt and stepmother, Elaine Holt, both of Bedford; one brother, Aaron Bryant and wife Tracey of Cicero; three sisters: Adriane Beasely and husband Eric of Chicago, Tricia and husband John Terrell of Huron, and Debby Taylor and husband Ernie of Bedford; many nieces and nephews; his maternal grandmother, Mary Zuttarelli of Oolitic; and his in-laws, Kenneth E. Sr. and Wanda Baker. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Tony Zuttarelli; and his paternal grandparents, Leo and Celia (Covey) Holt. Scott loved his Grandma Zutarelli and his Mamaw Holt. Scotty was a wonderful Christian husband and father. He was a great son, papaw, brother, nephew, grandson, cousin and friend to many. He loved Suzann with his whole heart, they were truly soul mates. He enjoyed being a daddy and “papaw.” He loved his dog Sheba, his Harleys and Choppers, being with loved ones and cruising. Scott will be deeply missed by all of the family and friends who knew and loved him. He was kind and considerate beyond what words can express. Rainey — Patricia A. (Ronk) Rainey, 71, 299 Red Hill Addition, Springville, died at 7:08 a.m. Wednesday at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born March 21, 1936, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of William E. and Louise (Rosemeyer) Ronk. She married Richard Dale Rainey on Nov. 26, 1971, and he survives. She was a homemaker and employed at LARC as an ADA program manager. Her compassion in life was working with the handicapped. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford. Surviving with her husband, Richard Rainey of Springville, are three sons: Ronnie Rainey of Springville and Jimmy Duzan and Scott Duzan, both of Mississippi; two grandchildren: Julie Carter and Jessica Jones; two great-grandchildren: Jocelyn Carter and Samantha Jones; one brother, Willima Ronk and wife Carrole of Panama City, Fla.; two aunts: Jean Trumpey and Ruth Rady, both of Indianapolis; three nieces: Lynette Shields and husband Bill of Panama City, Fla., Carle Mase and husband Tracy of Naples, Italy, and Theresa Marvin and husband Eric of Bossier City, La.; and one nephew, Billy Ronk and wife Ashley of Homestead, Fla. Duncan — Lori Ann Duncan, 34, 184 Middle Leesville Road, Bedford, entered into the loving arms of Jesus for her eternal rest on Monday at her residence. Born Feb. 7, 1973, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Rick and Patsy (Adams) Duncan. She attended Lincoln Elementary School, Shawswick Middle School and Bedford North Lawrence High School. Lori had modeled and was a caregiver at Stone Belt and White River Lodge. She attended Fairview Community Church; enjoyed Fit for Life; painting and drawing; spending time with her dogs; and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, who were the joy of her life. Survivors include her parents, Rick and Patty Duncan of Bedford; one sister, Lisa K. Hignite of Bedford; one brother, Jonathan M. Coe of Bedford; her maternal grandparents, Larry and Patsy Clark of Bedford; her paternal grandparents, Laverne and Rozella Duncan of Bedford; nieces and nephews: Thessaney K. Duncan and Joshua M. Reynolds — George Thomas Reynolds, 82, Mitchell, died Monday at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born March 31, 1925, in Oolitic, he was the son of James and Minnie (Patton) Reynolds. He married Mildred Ruth Bush Nov. 18, 1966 and she survives. He worked at Indiana Limestone in Oolitic and retired from Hancock Construction in Mitchell. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. He was a member and past commander of the Mitchell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, and a member of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion and Mitchell Senior Citizens. Surviving with his wife, Mildred Ruth Reynolds, Mitchell; are two sons, Adrian Pridemore and Dennis Pridemore, both of Mitchell; grandchildren, Samantha Neir, Kyle Dunn, and Karla DuChamp; brother, Noble Reynolds, Oolitic; four sisters, Dolly Gaddy, Charlotte, N.C., Ruby Reynolds, Oolitic, Dorothy Philpot, Judah, and Lina Beth McPherson, Williams; and several nieces and nephews. His parents; brothers, Morris and James Reynolds and an infant brother; sisters, Juanita Atterbury, Mildred Wood, and Josephine Farris and Marie Beck; and granddaughter, Sherrie Lynn Pridemore, preceded him in death. Armstrong — Kenneth L. Armstrong, 72, entered into the joy of his Lord at 7:52 p.m. on Friday at his home. He was born October 14, 1934, in Bedford. He served as a missile tech in the United States Navy from 1952 through 1971. He then worked as an engineering tech GS10 with the Fleet Ballistic Missile Program at Crane Naval Weapons Center from 1972 through 1994. His hobbies included raising calves on his Guthrie farm, dancing and volunteer work with organizations such as Christ Reaching Asia Missions. He was a member of Avoca Baptist Church from 1965 through 2000, when he joined Popcorn Christian Church. He also belonged to the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Fleet Reserve, and had been a member of the Stone City Squares. He married Judith Ann Brown on June 20, 1965, and she passed away on March 13, 1997. He married Marilyn (Petersen) Crane on May 21, 2000, and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mary Ruth (Armstrong) Fisher of Bedford, her husband Steve, and their daughters Josie and Katie; and one son, Kenneth Brian Armstrong of Bloomington. He is also survived by two nieces, Natalie Brewington of Bloomington, IN, and Debbie Armstrong; two nephews, Monty and Perry Fowler, both of Bloomington. He also had six stepchildren, Gabriel Crane and Joanna Crane at home, Benjamin Crane, Adam Crane and Liana Crane and son, Josh Earl, of Bloomington and Meredith Thacker, her husband Jason, and children Julia, Katie, Mia and Heidi of Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Armstrong Sr., his mother Cora (Hutton) Armstrong, a brother, Robert Armstrong and his sister, Margie Fowler. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12th, from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary, with Jerry Wisley, Bob Craig and Steve Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted. Sabatier — Doris “Betty” Sabatier, 87, Bedford, formerly of Bloomington and Loogootee, died at 6:25 a.m. Saturday at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born Jan. 14, 1920, in Brown County, she was the daughter of Albert F. and Lillian Louise (Fiegel) Long. She married Maurice Sabatier on July 13, 1937, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1999. She had been a cook at several Indiana University fraternities and at MCL Cafeteria in Bloomington. She last cooked at the Arrow Cafe in Loogootee. She attended the Friendly Bible Church in Bedford. Survivors include two sons, David Sabatier of Bedford and Michael Sabatier of Falls Church, Va.; two daughters, Carmelita Emberton of Morgantown and Ramona Byrd of Martinsville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Finley H. Long and Lacell Long. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Needmore Cemetery in Brown County with Pastor Tim Cash officiating. Runyan — Rose Elaine Runyan, 58, of Bedford, passed into the loving hands of God at 10:37 p.m. at her residence on Wednesday. Born April 28, 1949, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Ray and Pauline Allen. She married Dearl David Runyan and he survives. She was a member and employee of the Bedford Boat and Sportsmans’ Club and a member of the American Legion. She loved golf, NASCAR, travel and being with good friends. Surviving with her husband, Dearl David Runyan; are two daughters, Ashley Runyan of Bedford and Tracey (Beasley) Connaughton of Bloomington; one daughter-in-law, Heather Beasley of Bedford; two sons, Troy Beasley of Bedford and Trent Beasley of Bloomington; one son-in-law, Paul Connaughton of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Lindsey Johnson, Zachary Johnson and Clara Beasley. She was preceded in death by her parents, two step-daughters, Lisa and Leslie Runyan; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Betty Runyan; aunt and uncle, Chet and Wilma Gould; and other extended family members. Magner — Arminta Sue Magner, 67, Bedford, died Sunday at her residence. She was born Dec. 6, 1939, the daughter of James and Alice Kellam Wells. She retired from Indiana University Food Services in Bloomington. She had previously owned several Dairy Queen franchises in northern Indiana. She had also worked at the former Trav-Ler/Cortron in Orleans and the former Hook’s Drug Store in Paoli. She is survived by her son, Christian Ramsey of Orleans; her daughter, Cynthia Rowland of Orleans; six grandchildren: Caleb Rowland, Annie Rowland, and Alyssa Rowland Breeden, Nicole Kirk, Arley Ramsey and Addie Ramsey; and one sister, Betty Blackerby. The funeral will be private at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Hall — Robert Eugene Hall, 85, of 613 N. 14th Street, Mitchell, went to be with the Lord at 7:38 p.m. on Tuesday at his residence. Born July 11, 1921, in Lawrence County, he was the son of John and Blanche (Enochs) Hall. He married Sara E. Earl in 1950 and she survives. He was a retired inspector for General Motors and a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mitchell where he served as Chairman of the Trustees for 18 years. He was a member of U.A.W. Local No. 440, Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14 F & AM, the York Rites of Bedford and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. Surviving with his wife, Sara, are: one daughter, Susan Kay Wagner and husband Everett of Bedford; two grandchildren: Becky Sue Condra and husband Brad of Paoli and Leslie Aaron Wagner of Lincoln, Ill.; two great-grandchildren: Emily Sue Condra and Nicole Ann Condra; two brothers: Vertis and Delmont Hall; and one sister, Loretta Arnold. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Pittman; and one brother, Lloyd Hall. Combs — Marilou Combs, 73, 421 Wade Street, Mitchell, died at 2:21 a.m. Monday at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born Aug. 23, 1933, in Judah, she was the daughter of Jesse Williamd and Gladys Leona (Covey) Flynn. She married David Lee “Red” Combs Nov. 13, 1982, and he survives. She had worked at Sarkes-Tarzian in Bloomington, Pay N Pakit IGA and AAA Realty in Bedford, and Crane Ammunition Depot. She was a member of Bedford Baptist Temple and was a volunteer at Mitchell Manor. Surviving with her husband, David Lee “Red” Combs of Mitchell are two sons: Timothy W. Stillman and wife Debra of Bedford and Neal C. Stillman and wife Jackie of Mitchell; one stepson, Martin Lee “Marty” Combs and wife Shellie of Terre Haute; one stepdaughter, Kelly George and husband Garry of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren: Jeremy and Heather Stillman, McKenzi Stillman, Mandi Dersch, Brandon Combs, Kelly Combs and Josh Combs; six great-grandchildren; four brothers: James Monte Flynn, Joseph Michael Flynn, Lanny Mack Flynn, and Hubert Randal Flynn. Tirey — Benjamin Wayne Tirey, 20, 1298 Kings Ridge Road, Mitchell, passed away at 9:44 p.m. Saturday at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born March 20, 1987, in Bedford, he was the son of Monte C. and Teresa J. (Woodford) Tirey. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 2005 and was studying conservation law at Vincennes University. He was currently employed at Spice Valley Landscaping. Benjamin was a fine Christian man who believed in Jesus Christ as his savior. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church and loved to play his guitar in the Praise Band. He enjoyed life and demonstrated the motto, “Live, love and laugh.” He was a hunter and belonged to Waterfowler.com Association, and was also a member of Vincennes Campus Ministries. He loved to spend his time playing guitar, hunting, golfing, and most of all, he loved spending time with the love of his life, Kerri. Survivors include his parents, Monte and Teresa Tirey, Mitchell; sisters: April Saliba and husband Jimmy of Mitchell, and Sarah Tirey of Indianapolis; his fiancée, Kerri Sizemore of Mitchell; a niece, Lily Saliba; grandparents, Ronald and Wanda Woodford of Mitchell; and step-grandmother, Dottie Esslinger, Valley, Wash. His grandparents, Wayne and Nina Tirey, preceded him in death. Gabbert — Caroline M. Gabbert, 93, Mitchell, formerly of Detroit, Mich., passed away at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center. Born Dec. 1, 1913, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Carlo and Angeline (Merlo) Merlo. She married John H. Gabbert, April 10, 1937, and he preceded her in death, Oct. 25, 1987. She was a sales associate at Hudson’s Department Store for 20 years. She was a member of Mitchell First Baptist Chruch and had served three terms as worthy matron of Lakepoint East, Mich., Order of Eastern Star No. 420. Surviving are daughters: Virginia “Ginny” Kroeckel and husband Rod of Grand Rapids, Mich., Margaret Vinsant and husband Gene of Clinton Township, Mich., Carol Chambers and husband Dan of Mitchell, and Shirley Herbey, Clinton Township, Mich.; sons: Wayne Gabbert and wife Helen of Colton, S.D, and Henry Gabbert and wife Diana of Sterling Heights, Mich.; a sister, Louise Hughes (age 97) of Clinton Township, Mich.; brother-in-law Max Gabbert and wife Ruth of Michigan City; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Harp — Allen L. Harp, retired Senior Master Sergeant, 71, of 109 Lafayette Ave., Oolitic, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington. Born Sept. 29, 1935, in Martin County, he was the son of E. Ward and Mary M. (Baker) Harp. He married Sara Robertson on September 12, 1953, and she survives. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the Air Force after serving for 26 years, including one year in Vietnam. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church, American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, V.F.W. and the Air Force Sergeants Association. Surviving with his wife, Sara, are one daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Jones and husband Douglas of Arkansas; one son, Gregory Harp and wife Maggie of Minnesota; five grandchildren: Heather Teague of North Carolina, Weston Jones of Arkansas, Libbey, Sara and Eric Harp all of Minnesota; one brother, George W. Harp and wife Jane of East Oolitic; one sister, Marie Medley and husband William “Bill” of Williams; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruby Bray. Webb — Eddie Everett Webb, 46, of Springville, died at 1:46 p.m. Thursday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born Sept. 13, 1960, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Everett Dale and Elsie Mae (Nikirk) Webb. He married JoAnn Morrow on October 17, 1987, and she survives. He was a laborer for Whaley Construction Co. in Bloomington. He attended Cornerstone Worship Center (formerly the First Pentecostal Church of God) where he was dedicated and baptized. He was a member of the Laborer’s International Union Local 741 in Bloomington. Eddie was an avid hunter and loved to play and coach baseball. He had a desire to teach his own children and others to play ball to the best of their ability and to strive to reach their full potential. He enjoyed fishing and picnicking and being in the middle of any mischief and fun of family functions. He will be immeasurably missed by his family. Surviving with his wife, JoAnn, are two sons: Tyler Thomas and Colton Bryce both of Springville; his mother, Elsie of Oolitic; three brothers: Gary Webb and wife Jolene of Wichita, Kan., Davie Webb of Bedford and Danny Webb and wife Jenafer of Oolitic; two sisters: Karen Barger and husband Joe of Needmore, Jeanna Flynn and husband Gregory of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett and his sister-in-law, Teresa Webb. Mathis — Robert E. Mathis, 80, 13th Street, Bedford, died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday at White River Lodge in Bedford. Born April 15, 1927, in Monroe County, he was the son of John Wesley and Grace Idella (Clay) Mathis. He married Waynola Fisher and Marilyn Turpin and was last married to Rose Walls, who preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 2006. He was a concrete worker. He attended Bloomington High School and was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church and Mitchell American Legion Post No. 250, and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mary Lee Hughes, Bedford; stepsons, Richard Walls and wife Patty of Silverville, Bruce Walls and wife Vondalee of Silverville and Leslie Walls and wife Sara of Bedford; step-grandchildren, Tyra Kennedy and husband Randy of Silverville; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sisters, Peggy Etter and husband Richard of Bloomington, Betty Helms and husband Leonard of Bloomington, and Ester Slaughter and husband Lee of Lavoya, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; one stepson, Bruce Cobb; three brothers, and six sisters. Local No. 440; American Legion; and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Merchant Marines.
