08/31/02

Hawk – Ruby Mae Hawk of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, August 31, 2002, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on December 19, 1929, in Heltonville, IN, she was the daughter of Elza and Amanda (Bowman) Robertson. She married Donald M. Hawk, and he died on October 2, 1994.

Surviving are one son, Larry M. Hawk and wife, Jennifer, of Orleans, IN; one daughter Rita Hall and husband, Thomas, of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Wayne Robertson of Orleans, IN; two grandsons, Brandon Hall and Jared Hawk; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers: Eathel, Charles, and Ray Robertson; one half-brother, Everett Robertson; and three half-sisters: Blanche Whitted, Darvel Clark, and Avis Watts.

She was a homemaker, a 1949 graduate of Mitchell High School, and had been employed in the cafeteria at Burris School and Hoosier Uplands Safer Program. She was a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church.

Services for Ruby Hawk will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 4th, at Chastain Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis D. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home.

Sutton – Alberta Arvin Sutton of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, August 31, 2002, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on May 12, 1919, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Kelly) Arvin. She married James E. Sutton on June 11, 1936, in Shoals, IN, and he died on May 23, 1992.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. James (Kay) Collins of Bedford, IN; two sons, Sgt. James D. Sutton, Retired, Indiana State Police of Scottsburg, IN, and Lt. Col. Byron K. Sutton, Retired, U.S.A.F. of Orlando, FL; three brothers: Leonard, Conrad, and Orland Arvin, all of Martin County, IN; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, and two brothers.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Psi Iota Xi Sorority.

Services for Alberta Sutton will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 3rd, at the First United Methodist Church, 1409 K St. in Bedford. Burial will follow in Truelove Cemetery in Loogootee, IN. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Monday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at the church. Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bedford.

Taylor – Robert Allen Taylor of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, August 31, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on October 5, 1930, in Columbus, OH, he was the son of Edgar A. and Florence L. (Coseo) Taylor. He married Jane Ann Garrison on September 27, 1952, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Robert A. Taylor, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Virginia; and two granddaughters, Katherine Myung and Anne Jee, both of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He served as an officer in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War in military intelligence. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was also security director at Subic Bay Naval Station, Republic of the Philippines and came to NWSC Crane in 1976, serving as security director until 1987. He was a member of the Protestant faith, a life member and treasurer of Dunn Memorial Auxiliary, a life member of National Counter Intelligence Corps Assoc, a life member of The Ohio State Alumni Association, American Legion Gillen Post #33, and the Bedford Lodge #826.

Services for Robert Taylor will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Robert Dailey officiating. Entombment will follow at Cresthaven Mausoleum with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to Dunn Memorial Auxiliary.

Hendricks – Betty Louise Hendricks of Leesville, IN, died Friday, August 30, 2002, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on May 31, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Ethel and Lois Johnson (Henson) Ramsey. She married Cecil Hendricks, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters: Gloria Myers of Inglis, FL, Sue Ann Parsons of Bloomington, IN, and Mary Grace of Bloomfield, IN; three sons: David Hendricks, Steven Michael Hendricks, and James Andrew Hendricks, all of Bloomfield, IN; one brother, Robert Ramsey of Harrodsburg, IN; one half-sister, Shirley Farmer of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and five foster sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by three sons: Danny Ray McKinney, and two in infancy; her husband, George H. McKinney; one brother, Raymond Ramsey; one half-brother, Hugh Henson; and two sisters, Eloise Eaton and Marie Deitz.

She retired from GE in Bloomington and was a member of the Fairview Community Church in Leesville.

Services for Betty Hendricks will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4th, at the Fairview Community Church in Leesville, with the Revs. Kenny Fisher and Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Lee – Atlanta Lois Lee of Bedford, IN, died Friday, August 30, 2002, at Westview Manor. Born on October 8, 1910, she was the daughter of John E. and Julia Ellen (Trueblood) Martin. She married Carl Lee on April 28, 1930, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn J. (Borders) Howell and her husband, John, of Washington, IN; two sons, Edwin D. Lee and his wife, Barbara, and Fielding J. Lee and his wife, Jeannie, all of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren: Sherre Jones and husband, Timothy, of Washington, IN, Alisha Chermak and husband, Steve, of Ellettsville, IN, Beth Ann Thralls and husband, Kenny, Michelle Jenkins and husband, Dan, Jennifer Woodward and husband, Brandon, all of Bedford, IN, and Ryan Lee, a graduate student at Purdue University at Lafayette, IN; eight great=grandchildren: Aaron, Alexis and Brady Jones, Lacy Thralls, Jesse and Matthew Jenkins, Brennan and Amery Woodward. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Damon and David Martin.

She was a homemaker and a sales clerk at S.S. Kresge Store in Bedford for fourteen years. A graduate of Medora High School, she was a member of the Central Church of Christ, where she taught four and five years olds Bible class for many years.

Hurley – Tammy J. Hurley of Solsberry, IN, died on Thursday, August 29, 2002, in Bedford, IN. Born on November 9, 1961, in Columbus, IN, she was the daughter of Loren Hannum and Peggy (Swigler) Dorsett. She married Tim Hurley, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are her mother, Peggy Dorsett and step-father, Bill of Bedford, IN; one step-son, Coy Hurley of Afghanistan; three sisters: Sherre Patton, Carole Cummings, and Billie Tumey, all of Bedford, IN; one brother, Randy Dorsett of Williams, IN; paternal grandparents, Ed and Lucille Swigler of Bedford, IN; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

She was a housewife and a member of Eagles #1085 in Bloomington.

There will be graveside services for Tammy Hurley at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3rd, at Saltillo Cemetery with Johnny Johnson officiating. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Voorhies – Mae E. Voorhies of Springville, IN, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at her residence. Born on June 20, 1919, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Estel and Dollie (Arthur) Reed. She married Arnold Voorhies on November 6, 1937, and he died September 4, 1992.

Surviving are three sons: Will Voorhies and his wife, Marie, of Belleview, FL, David Voorhies of Springville, IN, and Paul Voorhies and his wife, Bernice, of Orleans, IN; two daughters, Peggy Lane and her husband, Gary, and Phyllis Cobb and her husband, Don, both of Springville, IN; two brothers, Everett Reed of Linton, IN, and Estel Reed of Alabama; three sisters: Ola Fulk, of Worthington, IN, Alberta Allen of Bloomington, IN, and Ann Asmond of Linton, IN; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; six sisters: Ora Harris, Clara Voorhies, Maxine Easton, Roberta England, and two in infancy; two brothers, Albert and Lloyd Reed; and one great-grandson.

She had been employed at Sarkes-Tarzian, later retired from RCA in Bloomington, and had maintained a Times-Mail paper route. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Services for Mae Voorhies will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31st, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in Springville Methodist Cemetery. Chase – Regina Shelton (Pray) Chase of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on August 20, 1937, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Hazel (Chaney) Shelton.

Surviving are two sons, Scottie Joe Pray of Seymour, IN, and Benjamin Edward Pray of Bloomington, IN; two brothers, James Shelton of Florida and Orville Shelton of West Virginia; three sisters: Wanda Martin of Bedford, IN, Geneva Shelton of Bloomington, IN, and Ilena Chapman of Monticello, IN.

She was a retired salesclerk for Dollar General Store in Bedford. She was a member of the Dive Christian Church, Eagles Lodge #654, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Services for Regina Chase will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Bass Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The Eagles Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Grow – Floyd C. Grow of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, August 24, 2002, at the Hospitality House. Born on June 4, 1916, in Oolitic, IN, he was the son of Frank and Ida (Hinkle) Grow. He married Virginia Davis in Lawrence County, IN, on December 27, 1941, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Gary Grow and Allen Grow, both of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Grow of Oolitic, IN; one sister, Goldie Mahan of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Grow; one daughter, Edith Grow; three brothers, four sisters, and one great-grandchild.

He was a groundman and truck driver for Public Service Indiana serving in Bedford, and retired in 1978. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Services for Floyd Grow will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 28th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Leth officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Miller – Iva Jean Miller of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, August 24, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on March 1, 1920, in Illinois, she was the daughter of Osie and Nola Mae (Wade) Webb. She married John Miller, and he died on September 22, 1995.

Surviving are three sons: Osa Staggs of East Oolitic, Kenneth Staggs of Bedford, IN, and Timothy Hall of Williams, IN; eight grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Charles Staggs; four brothers; three sisters; and one great-grandchild.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Peerless Pentecostal Church.

Child – Alberta S. Child of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, August 24, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on July 19, 1914, in Shoals, IN, she was the daughter of Lewis and Matilda (Dawson) Stephens. She married Russell H. Child on May 9, 1931, and he died on December 8, 1967.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Ann Baker and her husband, Bill, of Bedford, IN; one son, James R. Child and his wife, Patsy, of Bedford, IN; five grandchildren: Pam Kruse, Scott Baker, Debra Child, Kimberly Child Thomas, and Bradley Child; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and three sisters.

She was retired from G.M. Powertrain. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the U.A.W. Local 440.

Holt – Lula Holt of Oolitic, IN, died Thursday, August 22, 2002, at her residence. Born on August 12, 1933, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Henry and Maggie (Taylor) Starrett. She first married Charles White and later married Francis Holt. Both husbands preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters: Mary White of Bloomington, IN, Joyce Daugherty and Shelia White, both of Bedford, IN; two sons, Charles White, Jr. of Bloomington, IN, and Gletus Starrett of Connersville, IN; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one brother, and one daughter, Debbie White.

She retired from RCA in Bloomington and wa a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, D.A.V.A., and the Eagles Lodge.

Services for Lula Holt will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 26th, at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Bernie Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Phipps – James K. Phipps of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, August 22, 2002, at the IU Medical Center in Indianapolis. Born on July 10, 1945, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Treat and Irene (Tatom) Phipps. He married Virgetta Boatman Lambert on January 1, 1993, at Hillcrest Christian Church in Bedford, IN, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Aimee Parsley and husband Dallas of Solsberry, IN; one son, Aaron Phipps and wife Jennifer of Fishers, IN; two step-sons, Allyn Lambert of Bloomington, IN, and Matt Lambert and wife Julia of Tipton, IN; four sisters: Marjorie Sherrill, Jean Tarr, and June Allen of Bedford, IN, and Janice Pittsford of Ellettsville, IN; one brother, Ronnie Phipps of Bedford, IN; and three grandchildren: Dylan, Abigael, and Alexandria Parsley. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brother, Charles Maurice and Gerald Vernon Phipps; and one sister, Maxine Allen.

He was a construction estimator, employed by Weddle Bros. Construction and formerly the Rogers Group. He was a 1963 graduate of Needmore High School and was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church.

Services for James Phipps will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 25th, at Hillcrest Christian Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. Patton – Joseph W. Patton of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at White River Lodge. He was born on May 16, 1940.

Surviving are one brother, Edward Patton of Kokomo, IN; two sisters, Linda Charles of Mitchell, IN, and Kay Garbe of Goshen, OH.

He was formerly employed at the LARC Center in Bedford.

Scheffel – Betty Miller Scheffel of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at her residence. Born on August 14, 1923, in New Albany, IN, she was the daughter of Richard DeTienne and Anna (Rodler) DeTienne Todd. She first married Don Miller and he died in 1969. She then married Carl "Bud" Scheffel, and he died in 1980.

Surviving are one son, Lonnie Joe Miller and his wife Sandra, and one daughter, Donna Sowders and her husband Danny, all of Bedford, IN; grandchildren: Wade and Tommy Miller, Tina Brazzell, Don and Bill Sowders, Jeannie Barnes and Bettie Bedan; fourteen great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Vicki Burnette of Atlanta, GA; stepsons, Ron Scheffel of Columbus, IN, and Carl Scheffel of Bedford, IN; step-grandchildren, Ronna and Derek Scheffel, Brianne and Hunter Burnette; and one step-great-grandson. She was preceded n death by her parents; her step-father, Pete Todd; both husbands; and one great-granddaughter

She was formerly employed at Sarkes-Tarzian Lab for twenty years and operated a ceramic shop from her home. She was a member of Fairview Community Church and the Erie Homemakers Club.

Aeillo – William F. Aeillo of Bedford, IN, died Monday, August 19, 2002, at the Hospitality House. Born on July 16, 1915, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Joseph E. and Beulah L. (Johnson) Aeillo. He married EmiLouise Starr on March 28, 1943, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one brother, Joseph Aeillo of Edinburg, IN, and several nieces and nephews.

He was retired from NAD Crane and was a veteran of W.W. II, serving with the U.S. Army

Reuter – Charles Dean Reuter of Oolitic, IN, died Monday, August 19, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on May 5, 1931, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Raymond C. and Helen E. (Fisher) Reuter. He married Wilma "Jeanie" Bartlett on January 1, 1953, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Denny Reuter and his wife Tammy of Bedford, IN; one daughter Susan Blythe and her husband Dennis, of Oolitic, IN; one sister, Gloria Hawkins and her husband Zelbert of Bedford, IN; and four grandchildren: Michelle Spear and her husband Gary, Kortni Blythe, Christie Reuter and Jared Reuter. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He retired in 1983 as an insurance agent with Prudential Insurance Company and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army, as well as two terms in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of the Dive Christian Church and a former Deacon/Elder at Hillcrest Christian Church for several years. He was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33, Life Underwriters, and a charter member of the Oolitic Kiwanis and Bedford Exchange Clubs.

Services for Charles Reuter will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22nd, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jimmy Johnson and Gary Spear officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery. Holmes – Audrey Helen Holmes of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, August 17, 2002, at Mitchell Manor. Born on October 18, 1913, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Howard and Anna (Barsch) Lackey. She married Lee Dale Holmes on September 5, 1936, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters: Connie Will and Marta Jo Kern, both of Bedford, IN, and Bonnie Bertram of Ft. Branch, IN; eight grandchildren: Julie Waldo, Jayma Kern, Stephen Johnson, Debbie Johnson, Laurie Ann White, Lynn Melchoir, Jennifer Terrell, and John Bertram; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Enid Mitchell.

She was retired from the Bedford Regional Medical Center and was a member of New Union Christian Church and the Bedford Medical Center Auxiliary.

Flick – James F. Flick of Owensburg, IN, died Friday, August 16, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on February 3, 1941, in Martin County, IN, he was the son of Warren R. and Dorothy (Howerton) Flick. He married Judy Whipking on August 14, 1965, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are four sons: James E. Flick, Shawn T. Flick and his wife Misty, Michael C. Flick, and Matthew F. Flick, all of Owensburg, IN; one brother, George Ralph Flick of French Lick, IN; and three grandchildren: Aaron D. Flick, Brittany L. Flick, and Shawn A. Flick. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Henry E. Flick; and one sister, Sylvia Flick.

He retired as a Q.A. Inspector at NWSC Crane and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Bay of Pigs crisis and the Vietnam Conflict.

There will be graveside funeral services for James Flick at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 19th, at the Owensburg Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Rainbolt – Jeffrey Scott Rainbolt of Bloomington, IN, died Friday, August 16, 2002, at his residence. Born on October 3, 1965, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of James Rainbolt and Joyce (Mench) Coomer.

Surviving are his father and step-mother, James and Sharon Rainbolt of Bloomington, IN; his mother, Joyce Coomer of Solsberry, IN; one son, Thomas T. Rainbolt of Bloomington, IN; one brother, Joseph Rainbolt of Anderson, IN; one step-grandmother, Gertie Wilson of Bloomington, IN; two aunts, Sarah Gwyn of Linton, IN, and Linda Sullivan of Bloomington, IN; and one uncle, Bob Rainbolt of Kenton, OH. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He was an employee of the Kroger Co. at Seminary Square in Bloomington. He was a 1984 graduate of Bloomington High School and earned a Bachelors degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Indiana University. He received his Masters degree in Environmental Science in 1991.

Stevens – Anna D. Stevens of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, August 16, 2002, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born on July 2, 1910, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Dora and Vina (Roach) Davidson. She married Shelby Cleo "Jack" Stevens on July 22, 1933, and he died on December 7, 1979.

Surviving are two sons, Shelby E. Stevens of Centerburg, OH, and Larry J. Stevens of Mitchell, IN; two daughters, Katie Earl of Mitchell, IN, and Jennie Sue Nickelson of Jasonville, IN; two brothers, Ernie Davidson of Bedford, IN, and Charles Davidson of Aransas Pass, TX; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Robert Stanley Stevens; three brothers: Dinnis, Bill, and John Davidson; and two sisters, Blanche Pridemore and Dorothy Terry.

She was a retired seamstress and had been employed at Reliance Manufacturing, J. Fine and Sons, and Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane. She was a member of the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene.

Services for Anna Stevens will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 19th, at the Chastain Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Bechtel officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the service time Monday at the Chastain Funeral Home.

Rainey – Helen L. Rainey of Williams, IN, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on March 23, 1930, in Monroe County, IN, she was the daughter of Earnest and Jessie (Smith) Moser. She married Winfred Rainey in 1950 and he died on February 6, 1986.

Surviving are two daughters, Denise Stotts and Jennifer Moody, both of Williams, IN; one brother, Richard Dick Moser of Greenville, KY; two sisters, Phyllis Cundiff of Loogoottee, IN, and Patricia Suits of Bloomington, IN; nine grandchildren: John Glenn, Chris Addison, Dennis Addison, Brittany Owens, Timothy Moody, Samantha Owens, Kindra Owens, Kyle Moody, and Kody Moody; seven great-grandchildren: Kyla Addison, Synia Hatfield, Alyssia Addison, Mackenzie Glenn, Eryn Glenn, Montana Addison, and Logan Addison; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, David Earl Moser and George Dale Moser.

She was a retired cook for Bedford North Lawrence High School and was a member of the Church of Christ in Bloomington for many years.

Bennett – Larry L. Bennett of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on August 12, 1951, in Washington County, IN, he was the son of Cletis and Virginia (Hall) Bennett.

Surviving are his companion, Bobbie Knight of Mitchell, IN; two sons, Jason and Joey Bennett, both of Mitchell, IN; one daughter, Leanna Bennett of Claysville, IN; one brother, Charles Rick Bennett of Mitchell, IN; three sisters: Diana Sue Hall of Orleans, IN, Kay Mundy and Nancy Edwards, both of Mitchell, IN; and three grandsons.

He was retired from Paoli Chair, Inc. in Paoli, IN, and he formerly was employed at Carpenter Body Works in Mitchell. He was attended the Lawrenceport United Methodist Church.

Watson – Ronald Lee Watson of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002, at Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Crossville, TN. Born on April 18, 1928, in Evansville, IN, he was the son of Joseph and Catherine (Ryan) Watson. He married Wanda Page on October 6, 1950, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters: Ronda Watson, Janis Watson, and Tammie Boone, all of Bedford, IN; one brother, Jack Watson, of Evansville, IN; four sisters: Helen Walker, Berte Jane Hasten, and Mary Ann Bagby, all of Evansville, IN, and Joan Repass of Indianapolis, IN; and three grandchildren: Jennifer Parks, Joshua Boone, and Derek Boone, all of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Donald Watson (his twin); and one sister, Vena Moore.

He was retired from ConvaCare in Bedford and was the former owner of the Mark III Motel, Satellite Restaurant, and Ye Olde Donut Shoppe, all in Bedford. A graduate of the University of Evansville with a BA degree in business and a member of the football team, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Naval Reserve. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F&AM, past president of the Bedford Parks Board, Boys Club and Optimists Club. He refereed football at the high school and college leve all over the state of Indiana.

Shelton – Lester H. Shelton of Mitchell, IN, formerly of Vienna, IL, died Sunday, August 11, 2002, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on February 12, 1920, in Johnson County, IL, he was the son of Lucien Eugene and Eunice (Harris) Shelton. He married Evelyn Holder on May 2, 1987, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife of Vienna, IL, are three sons: Larry Shelton of LaCenter, KY, Donald Shelton of Mitchell, IN, and Ron Shelton of Clarksville, IN; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ward and Walton Shelton.

He was retired from construction and was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Cox – Harold Cox. Jr. of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, August 8, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on October 17, 1942, in Orange County, IN, he was the son of Harold and Lillie E. (Neal) Cox, Sr. He married Nancy Kay Mann on May 7, 1976, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are four daughters: Cherri Lynn Young of Pekin, IN, Terri Lea Boyer of Orleans, IN, and Kelli Jo Cox and Mariah Gail Cox, both of Mitchell, IN; one son, Richard Eugene Cox of Orleans, IN; one step-son, Roger Dale McCoy II of Paoli, IN; his mother, Lillie Cox of Orleans, IN; three sisters: Linda Waldridge of Mitchell, IN, Pat Taflinger of Bedford, IN, and Becky Cox of Mitchell, IN; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson.

He was a retired employee of J.R. Hall Company and was a member of the Bedford Boat Club.

Gregory – Robert D. Gregory of Bloomington, IN, died Thursday, August 8, 2002, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on December 23, 1938, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Everett and Dorothy Gregory. He married Nancy D. Falk in 1981, in Bedford, IN, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three sons: Jeff Gregory of Bedford, IN, Patrick Cundiff and Charles Cundiff, Jr., both of Bloomington, IN; one daughter, Crystal Gregory of Indianapolis; his mother, Dorothy Gregory of Bedford, IN; two brothers, David Gregory and William Gregory, both of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Kim Parkes of Mitchell, IN, Betty Wagoner of Bedford, IN, and Mary Sue May of Plainfield, IN; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, James Floyd Gregory.

He was formerly employed at Otis Elevator. He was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, Fraternal Order of Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and American Legion, Post #18, all in Bloomington.

Services for Robert Gregory will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 12th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford. Wyatt – Peggy Wyatt of Bedford, IN, died Monday, August 5, 2002, at the Hospitality House. Born on October 2, 1929, in Owensboro, KY, she was the daughter of Guy and Peggy (Miller) Kelly. She married Benjamin Wyatt in 1948, and he died in 1978.

Surviving are two sons, Mike Wyatt of Mitchell, IN, and Steve Wyatt of Pontiac, MI; one daughter, Lynn Gilliam of Dickson, TN; one brother, Guy Kelly of Cottage City, MD; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

She was a retired teacher's aide at Bedford North Lawrence Community Schools and a former employee of W.T. Grant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Seibert – Marian Long Seibert of Gainesville, GA, died Sunday, August 4, 2002. Born on November 20, 1925, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Fred L. and Effie (Wagoner) Long. She married Douglas Byron Seibert on October 22, 1955, in Indianapolis, IN, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are one sister, Ruth Evelyn Wray of Bedford, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters, Annabell Tyree and Connie Stcherbinine.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville, where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She served as a volunteer at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Meals On Wheels, and the Chattahoochie Baptist Association's Good Samaritan ministries.

There will be graveside services for Marian Seibert at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 9th, at Cresthaven Mausoleum. There will be no visitation. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions to the Ministry of Caring of First Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Ikerd – Frank L. Ikerd of Bedford, IN, died Friday, August 2, 2002, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on October 20, 1934, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Earl and Violet (Duncan) Ikerd. He married Janet Helton on December 23, 1959, in Paoli, IN, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three sons: Steve Ikerd, Roger Ikerd, and Jeff Ikerd, all of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Sandy Mills of Bedford, IN, and Brenda Ikerd of Bloomington, IN; three brothers: Norman Ikerd of Heltonville, IN, Jerry Ikerd of Waverly, IN, and Kenny Ikerd of Bedford, IN; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Carroll Ikerd and Earl Eugene Ikerd.

He was a crane operator at Ingalls Stone Company and a concrete finisher for Willis Hawkins Construction of Bedford and Ralph Rogers Company of Bloomington. He was of Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsman's Club, Bedford Eagles Lodge, American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 of Bedford, and the Mitchell V.F.W.

Fahr – Kari Summer Fahr of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Born on July 10, 1986, in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of Kenneth J. and Brenda S. (Beaver) Fahr. Surviving are her parents; one sister, Krish Fahr at home; one brother, K. J. Fahr of Ft. Carson U.S. Army Base, Colorado Springs, CO; maternal grandparents, Don and Judy Beaver of Plainfield, IN; and maternal grandparents, Bill and Edith Fahr of Cincinnati, OH.

She was a student at BNL High School. She was a member of "I Care" Counsel, Varsity Soccer team, Beta Club, Campus Life and Letterman's Club. She attended the First Baptist Church in Bedford and attended the youth group at Mitchell Church of Christ. She worked at Paoli Peaks as a snow board instructor and was a volunteer at the Bedford Regional Medical Center and Bloomington Hospital.

Services for Kari Fahr will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3rd, at the First Assembly of God Church in Bedford with Pastor John Dodd and Bro. Gary Spear officiating. Allen – Gladys L. Allen of Bedford, IN, died July 29, 2002, at the Hospitality House. Born on March 6, 1906, in Terre Haute, IN, she was the daughter of John O. Nelson and Ida (Brown) Nelson. She married Oran Bass Chapman in 1923, and he preceded her in death. She married Raymond E. Allen in 1950, and he died in 1970.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. William (Norma) Gilstrap of Bedford, IN; one daughter-in-law, Marilou Chapman of Mitchell, IN; six grandchildren: Gaylene Layton of Greencastle, IN, Jo Ellen Brinegar of Bedford, IN, Sondra Blaschke of Martinsville, IN, Thomas Chapman, Debra Russell, and Robert Chapman, all of Mitchell, IN; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one step-daughter-in-law, Madie Allen of Bedford, IN; one step-grandson, Gary Allen; two step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and one half-brother, Paul Wheeler of Bloomfield, IN. She was preceded in death by both husbands; one son, James N. Chapman; one great-grandson; one half-brother; four half-sisters; two brothers, John Nelson and one in childhood; one sister, Daisy Russell.

She was a homemaker and had worked as a saleswoman at J.C. Penney Co. in Bedford for several years. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.

Price – Robert W. Price of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Bedford, IN. Born on January 13, 1981, in Marion County, IN, he was the son of Marshall Price and Lesa (Cassidy) George. He married Tracey Robertson on December 19, 1998, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife, Tracey, of Vincennes, IN, are three daughters, Tiana and Kiera Price, both at home, and Alexis Ping of Louisville, KY; one son, Dayton Price, at home; his father, Marshall of South Bent, IN; his mother, Lesa of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Maggie Longest of Bedford, IN, and Angela Price of Indianapolis, IN; pone brother, Marshall Price, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; and his maternal grandmother, Margaret Cassidy of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lowell and Emma Price, and his maternal grandfather, Wayne Cassidy.

He was an auto maintenance worker in Bedford and attended Charity Chapel in Bedford.

Services for Robert Price will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31st, at Charity Chapel with Sister Rebecca Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in Hopkins Cemetery in Needmore, IN.
