Lynn – Kathryn L. Lynn of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at the Hospitality House in Bloomington. Born on April 10, 1921, in Mitchelville, TN, she was the daughter of William Ross and Grace O'Dell (Worley) Summers. She married Clovis Lynn, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Mrs. James (Brenda) Moyna of Ellettsville; two sisters, Ova Christine Baxter of Shoals, IN, and Mabel R. Hyatt of Lexington, IN; two brothers, George Summers of Columbus, IN, and Bill Summers of Bedford, IN; one granddaughter, and three grandsons. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda L. Weaver; and two brothers, Jack W. Summers and William Edward Summers.
She was a homemaker and a member of Englewood Baptist Church.

Wade – Marjorie L. (Payton) Wade of Bedford, IN, formerly of Williams, IN, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 12, 1915.
Surviving are two sons, Paul Wade and Carl Wade, both of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Barbara Morris of Bedford, IN; one sister, Dorothy Grissom of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.

Clark – William Gerald Clark of Springville, IN, formerly of Wabash, IN, died Thursday, April 26, 2001 at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on February 4, 1919, in Martin County, IN, he was the son of John Q. and Mary B. (Cobb) Clark.
Surviving are his caretaker and niece, Nancy Clark Bolton; four brothers: Joseph Clark, James Clark, Marvin Clark, all of Bedford, IN, and Clarence "Sandy" Clark of Bloomington, IN; and one sister, Helen Dininger of Sullivan, IN. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Clark and John Clark; and one sister, Edith Benge.
He retired from General Tire in Wabash, IN, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Wabash, IN.
There will be graveside services for William Clark at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1st, at Ames Chapel Cemetery in Paoli, IN, with graveside military rites accorded by members of American Legion Post #33. There will be no visitation. Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangments.

Grove – Russell Dow Grove of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on April 19, 1917, in Shelburn, IN, he was the son of William Elijah and Addie Iola (Dow) Grove. He married Mary Helen Lewis on February 11, 1940, and she preceded him in death. He married Ronda Bough on January 27, 1989, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Suzanne Flowers of Indianapolis; one son, Jon Howard Grove of Bloomington, IN; one brother Willis Grove of Washington state; one step-daughter, Karina Dusard of Bedford, IN; three step-sons: Brad Bough of Peru, IN, Trent Bough of Cicero, IN, and J.J. Bough of Bedford, IN; three grandchildren.
He was a co-founder of Keach & Grove Real Estate Agency, which eventually included the Keach & Grove Insurance Agency, and he served as president of that corporation until his retirement on January 1, 1984. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 313th Infantry with the 29th Cross of Lorraine Division in Germany and France during World War II. He was a member and had served as president of the Bedford Rotary Club and had served as Southern Indiana Rotary District governor in 1964-65. He served on the Bedford School Board from 1953-56, and the Board of Directors of the Bedford Boys Club, Citizens National Bank, United Fund, and the Bedford Chamber of Commerce. He was a past member of the Bedford Association of Insurance Agents and the Bedford Real Estate Board. He was a past member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge and the Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 and the Church of God, where he ad served as secretary/treasurer, on church boards, and as a Sunday school teacher.
Services for Russell D. Grove will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 27th, at the First Church of God with the Revs. Jerry D. Lewis, Roland Holtsclaw, and Kay Pruett officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33. Hawk – Homer Leon Hawk of Lafayette, IN, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at the Indiana Veterans Home in Lafayette. He was born on October 23, 1926.
Surviving are one son, Larry Hawk of Champaign, IL; one daughter, Carol Ann Neal of Mitchell, IN; two sisters, Barbara Pridemore of Greenwood, IN, and Rosemary Parton of Palm Coast, FL; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Gehring – Paul W. Gehring of Williams, IN, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 14, 1933.
Surviving are three sisters: Mildred Dover of Indianapolis, and Beverly Craycraft and Reba Flinchum, both of Evansville, IN.
He was retired from Naval Surface Warfare Systems, Craqne and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Lorean Conflict.

Moore – Steven J. Moore of Bedford, IN, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on May 17, 1948, in Kentland, IN, he was the son of Donald and Betty (Rees) Moore. He married Evelyn "Evie" King, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one son, Robin E. Drake of Bedford, IN; three daughters: Amy Lee Brown and Elizabeth Ann Moore, both of Bedford, IN, and Holli Jo Beavers of Mitchell, IN; two brothers, Richard E. Moore of Golden, CO, and Thomas A. Moore of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren.
He was a self-employed financial planner and had previously been general manager for Kankakee Valley REMC. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970 from Indiana University. He was a member of the American Legion, Bedford Elks Lodge and the Mitchell V.F.W.

Box – Mary Maydean (Gosser) Box of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on May 13, 1929, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Chillis and Callie Gosser. She married Robert E. Box on June 16, 1956, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one brother, Osbie Gosser of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Olean Gosser of Bedford, IN, and Janet Bagby and Shirley Dalton, both of Bloomington, IN; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Charles Webb and Jimmy Joe Box; one sister, Matrice Turner; and two brothers, Louie Gosser and Aubrey Gosser.
She was a homemaker and a member of American Legion Auxiliary.

Lewis – Walter G. Lewis of Bedford, IN, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 4, 1914. He married Deloris Parker, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two brothers, Russell M. Lewis of French Lick, IN, and Merle "Gene" Lewis of Owensburg, IN.
He was a retired farmer.

Wagner – Betty R. Wagner of Bedford, IN, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. Born on July 12, 1924, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Herman and Hattie (Mathews) Girdley. She married Warren Wagner on May 9, 1943, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Sally G. Cook of Bedford, IN; one son, David B. Wagner of Vermont; one sister, Carol Jean Chitty of Bloomington, IN; one grandson, one granddaughter, and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leland Girdley and Bob Girdley.
She retired as a secretary in the North Lawrence schools, with eighteen years of service, and she had also worked as a medical secretary for five years. A local artist, she was a member of the Lawrence County Art Association, Brown County Art Gallery, Brown County Art Guild, Indiana Heritage Art, and the Hoosier Salon. She was a member of First Baptist Church, a volunteer for Community Concerts, a former Cub Scout and Brownie Scout leader PTA president, chairman of the Women's Division of the Chamber of Commerce of Bedford, and had served on the board of directors of the Limestone Girls Club.
There will be a memorial service for Betty Wagner at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24th, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jon Lineback officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 p.m. until the service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Livingston – Alexis Ann Livingston was stillborn on April 19, 2001, in Cincinnati, OH. She was the daughter of Tim and Candy (Brown) Livingston.
Surviving are her parents of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Ashley Livingston, at home; her paternal grandfather, Bob Livingston of Orleans, IN; her paternal grandmother, Kathy Livingston of Bedford, IN; and her maternal grandmother, Viola Brown of Mitchell, IN. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jim Brown, in 1997.
There will be a graveside service for Alexis Livingston at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16th, at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Bolton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
Moffatt – Clinton S. Moffatt of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on October 28, 1928, in Orange County, IN, he was the son of Harley and Cynthia (Cottengain) Moffatt. He married Patricia Dorsett on November 2,2 1951, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one son, Larry Moffatt of Mitchell, IN; one daughter, Lana Sue Smith of Mitchell; three brothers: Lloyd Moffatt of Lafayette, IN, Arthur Moffatt of Soper, OK, and Robert Holsapple of Salem, IN; three sisters: Sarah Banton and Dorothy Moffatt, both of Lafayette, IN, and Sally Rodriguez of California; one grandson and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Clarence Moffatt, Lester Moffatt, and Jesse Moffatt; one sister, Doris Moffatt; and one son in infancy, Lloyd Moffatt.
He retired from GM Powertrain in 1981, with 30 years of service, had also been employed at Keane Farm for many years, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War 33. He attended the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 350, the Marvin R. Davis V.F.W. Post No. 9107, and was a 50-year member of U.A.W. Local 440.

York – Helen "Marie" York, formerly of Orleans and Bedford, IN, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at the home of her daughter in Mitchell, IN. Born on September 13, 1920, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Elmer and Effie (Knuckles) McKinney. She married John H. York on December 25, 1939, and he died December 27, 1981.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William (Donna) Sharp of Mitchell, IN, and Mrs. John (Patricia) Holsapple of Campbellsburg, IN; five sisters: Faye Hicks, Violet Skeen, Wilma McPike, and Bessie Whitted, all of Bedford, IN, and Margie Patton of Zephyrhills, FL; one brother, Robert McKinney of Martinsville, IN; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son in infancy, four brothers, and three sisters.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Orleans Christian Church.

Deckert – Nancy Lee Deckert of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at her residence. Born on December 30, 1934, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Raoy and Sarah Viola (Wagner) Trueblood.
Surviving are two sons, Mike Deckert and his wife, Linda, of Milford, CT, and Tim Deckerd and his wife, Holly, of Madison, IN: one daughter, Lisa K. Deckert of Bedford, IN; one sister, Mary Kay Schnuck and her husband, Tom, of Muncie, IN; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was retired, having been employed at the Day & Carter Mortuary and the Bedford Regional Medical Center. She was active in the community, having served on the Red Cross Board and the Lawrence County Substance Abuse Task Force.. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she served on various boards and committees.

White – Muriel E. White of Bedford, IN, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on January 14, 1930, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Charles Harry and Edra Zena (Jackson) White. He married Betty Ratliff on January 29, 1949, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters: Jacqualin Clark of Orleans, IN, Trudy J. White of Solsberry, IN, and Jody Manning of Oolitic, IN; one sister, Dava Daniels of Odon, IN; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. H was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Monty White; one brother, Ollan White; and two sisters, Anna Powell and Helen Sons.
He was a truck driver for Standish Farm Supply. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church, where he sang in the the choir and was an original member of the Englewood Baptist Men's Choir.

Oliver – Betty R. Oliver of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Westview Nursing Home. She was born on April 16, 1936. She married Paul Oliver, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are six sons: Jim Oliver of Texas, Bob Oliver, John Oliver, and Sunny Oliver, all of Bedford, IN, Dennis Oliver of Bloomington, IN, and Kevin Oliver of Loogootee, IN; two brothers, Russell Ishmael and Orville Ishmael, both of Iloinois; and one sister, Ina Norris of Illinois. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
She was a homemaker and attended Hillcrest Christian Church.

Owens – Emma Lorene Owens of Franklin, IN, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at the Franklin United Methodist Home in Franklin. Born on March 10, 1915, Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Virgil and Nellie (Pritchett) Owens.
Surviving are one sister, Nina Tatom of McCordsville; one sister-in-law, Ruby Gail Owens of Needmore, IN; four nephews, and three nieces. She was preceded in death by one sister, MarthaTumey; and two brothers, Claude and George Owens.
She retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis and was a member of Bullett's Creek Baptist Church.

Fanger – Norman E. "Gene" Fanger of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Vencor Hospital in Greenwood, IN. Born on January 31, 1935, in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Norman and Mary (Smallwood) Fanger. He married Shirley M. Donelon, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one son, Michael M. Fanger of Bedford, IN; four daughters: Noreen C. Fanger, Mollie K. Watson, and Kattie M. Fanger, all of Bedford, IN, and Mary Beth Heatherly of Springville, IN; two brothers, Robert B. Kelly and Mark S. Kelly, both of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Carole Fanger Giese of St. Louis, MO; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
He retired from Crane in 1997, with ten years of service. He previously retired in 1987 from the United States Navy after serving 30 years of his 34 1/2/ military career years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mitchell and was a member of the American Legion Post 33 and Knights of Columbus.

Grafton – Roger Grafton of Indianapolis, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, April 11, 2001, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. Born on June 9, 1914, in Bedford, IN, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters: Marthanne McDowell of Fishers, IN, Virginia Sue Humphrey of Kentland, IN, Margaret Ellison of Houston, TX, and Merrilou Luse of Scottsburg; one son, Robert O. Grafton of Indian Springs, IN; one brother, John Robert Grafton of Ocala, FL; one sister, Martha Louis Crouch of Bedford, IN; seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
For several years he was the owner of the Army Surplus Store in Bedford, Grafton's Bicycle Shop and Dues Indiana, Inc. and retired in 1981. He was a 30-year member of Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14, F&AM.
There will be graveside services for Roger Grafton at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14th, Lowder Cemetery near Springville. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home in Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the Popcorn Christian Church.

Hemphill – Edith M. Hemphill of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on November 23, 1912, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Oliver and Addie (Smith) Rayburn. She married David Hardin on September 8, 1928, and he died in 1944. She married James Hemphill on June 2, 1946, and he died in 1973.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara J. Bunch of Bedford, IN; one sister, Ruth Jennings of Kokomo, IN; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by both husands and one bruther, Harold Rayburn.
She was a homemaker and had worked in the Lawrence County Treasurer's office.

Surviving with his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law: Carl and Linda Lynn of Mitchell, IN, and David and Janet Lynn of Bedford, IN; one brother, Clovis Lynn of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Ruth Bolton of Bedford, IN; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Menlo and Raymond Lynn; and one sister, Lorena Spinks.
He was a retired farmer. He attended White River Baptist Church.

Meadows – Virgil R. Meadows of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on June 28, 1933, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Ray and Lottie Goodman. He married Marilyn Sue Inman, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Robbie Meadows of Needmore, IN, and Dennis Meadows of Mitchell, IN; one grandchild, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Bryan Meadows and Jim Meadows; and one brother.
He worked as a truck driver for several years with Schwerman Trucking Company and was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict . He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the American Legion.

Root – Patty Bernice Root of Bedford, IN, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on October 4, 1909, in Lawrence county, IN, she was the duaghter of Howard and Faye (Jackson) Buher. She married Fred P. Root, and he died on September 11, 1997.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth E. and Joan Smith Buher of Mitchell, IN; two brothers, Albert Buher of New Castle, IN, and Charles O. and wife Louise Buher of California; one sister, Audrey Day of Bedford, IN; one granddaughter, three grandsons, several great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters, and cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Ivan, Claude, and Loren Buher.
She retired after working thirty-four years as Receiving, Ordering, Book and Inventory Clerk at Reliance Manufacturing Co. (M. Fine & Sons). She attended the First United Methodist Church and was a member of Naomi Rebekah Lodge, White Shrine of Jerusalem, American Legion Auxiliary, Bedford Elks Auxiliary, and AARP.

Byers – Wilma Jean (Hensley) Byers of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at her residence. Born on August 29, 1930, in Jonesville, VA, she was the daughter of Nova T. and Ruby (Hines) Hensley. She married Claude R. Byers on August 20, 1949, and he died on June 8, 1981.
Surviving are her companion, Karl F. Klumpp, Jr. of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Robin Bailey of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Wendell Hensley of Oolitic, IN; and three sisters, Norma Bagby and Janice Hedrick, both of Bedford, IN, and Irene Murray of Muncie, IN; two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren.
She was retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center at Crane and was currently employed at WalMart in Bedford. She was a member of Oolitic Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority.

Lewis – Robert D. Lewis of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born July 23, 1925, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Jerry and Lola (Daughtery) Lewis. He married Marva Jean Goodin on July 24, 1943, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Jan Lewis of Paoli, IN, and Jerry Lewis of Indianapolis; one daughter, Marlyn Parker of Plainfield, IN; two grandsons, three granddaughters, one step-grandson, one step-granddaughter, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
He was retired as Vice-President of First National Bank of Mitchell. He was a member of the First Church of God.

Eisele – Jerry W. Eisele of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at his residence. He was born July 29, 1958.
Surviving are his mother, Sarah Eisele of Bedford, IN; four brothers: John Eisele of Haddock, GA, Jim Eisele and Jack Eisele, both of Bedford, IN, and Bill Eisele of Loogootee, IN; and three sisters, Frances Leatherman and Patty Eisele, both of Bedford, IN, and Sue Eisele of Mitchell, IN.
He was employed at Patty White's Silhouette in Bedford.

Elliott – Oren G. Elliott of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at his residence. Born on May 14, 1920, in Washington County, IN, he was the son of John and Ida (Lowery) Elliott. He married Carolyn Hauger on April 6, 1947, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Ronnie Elliott of Mitchell, IN, and Greg Elliott of Carmel, IN; one daughter, Chieta Rightley of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Helen Mylott of Mitchell, IN; seven grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
He was a truck driver for Hall Trucking in Orleans, retiring after thirty-five years of service.

Fish – Sallie R. Fish of Norman, IN, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at her residence. Born on September 15, 1939, in Heltonville, IN, she was the daughter of Norton and Edna (Winegar) Tanksley. She married Herman Fish, Sr., and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one son, Herman Fish, Jr. of Norman, IN; one daughter, Shellie Hume of Norman, IN; her mother; two brothers, Donald Tanksley and Dickey Tanksley, both of Heltonville, IN; two sisters, Sylvia Burkhart and Sharon Smith, both of Bedford, IN; five grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Gail Phillips. She was preceded in death by her father.

Strother – Lena Ragsdale Strother of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Mitchell Manor. Born on June 11, 1908 in Orange County, Indiana, she was the daughter of David and Laura (Gerkin) Logan. She married Edward Strother in January, 1947, and he died in April, 1978.
Surviving are one son, Leroy L. Ragsdale of Bedford, IN; two granddaughters, Linda Goodin of Bedford, IN, and Rita Mathews of Ocala, FL; one grandson, Maurice Ragsdale of Linton, IN; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Claude Harris, Everett Harris, Roscoe Harris, and Austin Harris; and one sister, Lela Phillips.
She was retired from the Greystone Hotel, where she had served as head cook for thirty-six years. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Wagoner – Kenneth (Ken) L. Wagoner of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on January 21, 1919, in Jefferson, IN, he was the son of Todd Douglas and Emma Catherine (Hagest) Wagoner. He married Mary Louise Woody on December 19, 1942, in Lawrence County, IN, and she died January 9, 1986.
Surviving are one son, Danny L. Wagoner of Bloomington, IN; one daughter, Mrs. David (Dava) R. Baker of Greenwood, IN; one brother, Gene A. Wagoner of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Mrs. Sam (Doris ) Farmer of Montrose, CO, Mrs. Jerry (Gwen) Cooper of Indianapolis, and Mrs. William (Ellen ) Lutes of Savannah, GA; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He was a journeyman electrician, having worked at Indiana Limestone Company and with construction companies. He was a 1939 graduate of Bedford High School and a member of Local No. 16 I.B.E.W., NE.B.F., a life member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsmen's Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 654, and the Leatherwood Christian Church.
Services for Kenneth Wagoner will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Wright – Nora E. Wright of Bedford, IN died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on May 20, 1933, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Sylvia (Holt) Tincher. She married George E. Wright on July 6, 1951, and he died on April 15, 1992.
Surviving are one son, Casey Wright of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Sally Lewis and Judy Todd, both of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Evelyn Gerkin of Gary, IN, Janet Mundy of Chester, WY, and Pat Maxwell of Bradenton, FL; four brothers: Laverne Tincher of Terre Haute, IN, Calvin Tincher of Bedford, IN, Frank Tincher of Bloomington, IN, and Lloyd Tincher of Suisua, CA; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
She was retired from Thomson Electronics in Bloomington and was a member of the Women's Group of Huron.

Chase – Evelyn Chase of Bedford, IN died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at Hospitality House. She was born on February 23, 1938. She married John Chase, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Cheryl Endris of Bedford, IN, and Lisa Schroeder of New Mexico; three brothers: John and James Nelson, both of Bedford, IN, and Donald Nelson of Indianapolis; two sisters, Jean Brady of Evanston, IL, and Judy Lacey of Florida.

Johnson – Villa L. (Monday) Johnson of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on January 13, 1905, in Adair County, KY, she was the daughter of the Rev. M.A. and Mary Lee (Beard) Monday.
Surviving are three daughters: Rose Cummings and Vera Quackenbush, both of Bedford, IN, and May Newkirk of Indianapolis; five sons: Jack Johnson and Russell Johnson, both of Bedford, IN, Ken Johnson of Lynden, WA, Ben Johnson of Vancouver, WA, and Jim Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; one brother, Lee Monday of Arkansas; one sister, Joyce Swan of Virginia; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three children in infancy, and five brothers.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of God, where she sang in the choir for 61 years, taught Sunday school for several years, and was a member of the Johnson Quartet for 30 years. She was a member of the Church Missionary Society and a caretaker of Camp Challenge for six years, a member of AARP, local home demonstration club and the Farm Bureau.
Services for Villa Johnson will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at First Church of God with the Revs. Alan Reed and Floyd Brick officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Lewis – The Rev. David W. Lewis died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 12, 1918.
Surviving are his wife, Marjory Lewis; two sons, David Lewis of Bedford, IN, and Jerry Lewis of Wilkes-Barre, PA; and one daughter, Sharon Sims of Neoga, IL.
He had worked at GM Powertrain, retiring in 1974. He was a pastor and had served as evangelist in the Bedford area.

Bartlett – Betty Landreth Bartlett of Littleton, CO, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at St. John's Hospice in Littleton. She was born on February 7, 1931, in Mitchell, IN. She married William H. Bartlett, former Lawrence County Recorder, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one son, Stephen Bartlett; two grandsons; and two cousins. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Billy, in 1955, and by her parents.
She was a 1949 graduate of Mitchell High School. She had worked at the Stone City Bank in Bedford and at the Winters National Bank in Dayton, OH. She was a vocalist for many years and became director of an International Jazz Festival in Colorado.
The remains were cremated. A memorial service for Betty Bartlett will be Tuesday, April 10th, at the South Suburban Christian Church in Littleton, CO, and interment and memorial services will be conducted later in Beech Grove Cemetery in Bedford, IN.
Childers – Richard W. Childers of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 1, 2001. Born on July 23, 1944, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Pullas and Nancie Childers.
Surviving are his wife, Diane; one daughter, Natalie; one son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Denise Childers; one step-son, Jeremey Walker; two sisters, Vonda Baker and Marcella Pancoast; one granddaughter, Jacey, and many nieces and nephews. He preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Richard Childers.
He was manager of Garden Hill Mobile Home Park for the past 17 years and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with Special Forces as a Green Beret. He was a member of American Legion of Bloomington, Bedford Boat & Sportsman Club, and House of Prayer in Bloomington, and attended First Assembly of God in Bedford.
Services for Richard Childers will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 5th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions are being accepted at the mortuary for Les and Charlene Milton, missionaries in Honduras for the Pentecostal Church of God.
