Lee Ann Flynn

Nov. 20, 1956 — June 10, 2021

Lee Ann Flynn age 64 of Bedford passed away on June 10, 2021 at 8:12 Pm at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

She was born in Bedford on November 20, 1956 to Lee Thompson and Phyllis (Lundy) Thompson. Lee Ann married William “Bill” Flynn on November 25, 1977 and he survives, she was retired and previously worked at Dunn Hospital in Bedford.

Survivors include her husband, William “Bill’ Flynn of Bedford, two sons, David (Kim) Flynn of Noblesville, Daniel (Veronica) Flynn of Bedford, one daughter, Jennifer Flynn-McCormick and husband Eric of Greenwood, five grandchildren, Christopher Holman, Gabriel Holman, Riley Flynn, Gavin Flynn and Violet Flynn, three sisters, Rena Jackson of Bedford, Lyn McPike of Bedford and Penny Hutchens of Bedford.

Lee Ann was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Phyllis Jo Hanners, one brother, Gary Brown, and one grandchild, Marshall Flynn.

In addition to her immediate family, LeeAnn was very close with many other friends and extended family members, acting as a stand-in mom for anyone who needed one. She was even given the special designation of Aunt Gee by her great-nieces and great-nephews, who she loved like grandchildren.

LeeAnn was a person who loved children her whole life, especially babies. She was exactly the person who you would call for advice whenever you needed help with a sick baby, a childcare question, or really for any practical advice. She was always ready to give out a bit of pragmatic wisdom, a good recipe, or just tell you not to bathe the kids until you were a little bit calmer.

She also loved to travel, whether it was across the country or just for a day in Nashville or French Lick. When she couldn’t travel in-person, she loved going places through stories. It didn’t matter if it was books, movies, plays, or just a good yarn; she relished a good story. She was a lifelong reader who thought there was something to be learned from any book, and loved sharing her books and love of reading with her loved ones.

More than maybe anything, LeeAnn was known for her sense of humor in any situation. She loved puzzles and games and was a formidable opponent in most card or board games; but would have everyone laughing the whole time she was beating them. Her laugh and her sense of humor were present in even the hardest situations, and right up to the end of her time here with us.

In planning for this time, it was her request that everyone “skip the funeral, and go straight to the wake”. As such, the family would like to invite family and friends to drop in and share stories and memories at a celebration of life gathering on Saturday June 19th, 2021 from 1:00 until 4:00 Pm at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford.

Ann was an angel here on earth. She cared for her mother-in-law, then her own mother, all while caring for all those named above. Ann loved unconditionally and always looked for the good in people. She was fiercely caring, loyal, and giving. Her smile and laugh were contagious, she always made you feel welcome and as if you were the only person in the room. She knew not only about you but about your friends and family and would always ask about them. Ann never missed a birthday and loved to sing the birthday song first thing in the morning on our special day. Ann was the “rock” of our family, she was the glue that kept us all together. You never said I’m leaving You never said goodbye. You were gone before I knew it, And only God knew why. A million times I needed you, A million times I cried. If love alone could have saved you, You never would have died. In life I loved you dearly, In death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place, That no one could ever fill. It broke my heart to lose you, But you didn’t go alone For part of me went with you, The day God took you home.

Flowers are welcome. brownliemaxwell.com
