John M. Stephenson

John M. Stephenson, age 78, of Bloomington, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 27, 2021.
He was born on June 29, 1943, in Crothersville, to Carl and Faye (Batman) Stephenson. He married Karen Speer on December 25, 1963, and she survives.
John was a 1961 graduate of Tunnelton High School. He was retired and of the Christian faith.
John was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be missed greatly.
Surviving John are his wife, Karen; daughter, Teri (Bob) Awbrey; grandchildren, Natasha (fiancé Connor Peacock) and Matthew (Lexi) Awbrey; sisters, Sue Hamilton and Linda King; and one brother, Max (Sue) Stephenson.
Preceding John in death were his parents; and half-brother, Dale Ingle.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no public services. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Maxine K. Dillard, 93, passed away on October 26 at Gentry Park, assisted living facility, in Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents George L. and Loretta J. (Ford) Kendall, her husband Charles J. Dillard in 1994, and 12 brothers and sisters.
She was born in Paoli Indiana and spent most of her life raising her family in Bedford. She lived a short time in Indianapolis.
She is survived by her children; Marsha Wray (Joe) of Punta Gorda, FL and Steve Dillard of Little Rock AR. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law Roberta Barker (Walter) of Cincinnati OH and Delores Lispsky (Joe) of Georgetown TX, niece Pat Eicher of Longmont CO, and Ginger Miller of Tulsa OK and several nieces and nephews
Gravesite services will be held at Cresthaven Memory Gardens in Bedford at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2nd.

Randy W. Fisher, 64, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Randy was born in Bedford, Indiana, June 20, 1957, the son of Ellis E. and June Dalton Fisher.
Randy was currently employed with Archer Mental Health Services, and he attended the Cottonwood Christian Church in Brown County. Randy was huge into genealogy, he loved history and he always kept Brown County dear to his heart.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving children, Robert Fisher of Columbus, Rachel (Daniell) Myers of Washington, Indiana, Justin Fisher of Columbus, and Kayla (Jeremy) Kimball of Columbus; grandchildren, Kaya Fisher, Preston Myers, Felix Myers, Max Douglas, and Draven Hardin; brother, David Fisher of Nebraska, sisters, Mary Kay Shearer of Nebraska and Bonnie Fisher of Nebraska; an aunt; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike; Pastor Darrel Miller will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. The committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Pinhook Cemetery in Bedford.

Helen Chastain Hardman

Helen Chastain Hardman (Bloomington, formerly of Orleans) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 with her husband and daughters by her side.
Born June 7, 1945, Helen was the youngest daughter of Elwood Jennings and Hildred May (Cosby) Chastain. She married John Phillip Hardman on August 25, 1963 and he lovingly survives.
Helen loved spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest joy in her life were her children and grandchildren (who could do no wrong). Surviving are daughters Heather (Paul) Johnson, Holly (Chris) Johnston and Hillari Yentz. “Mam” was adored by her grandchildren Reid, Rhett and Rachel Johnson, Dane and Delaney Johnston, Conner (Jessica), Tanner, Adler and Izabella Yentz and her three great-granddaughters Thea, Beth and Hadli Yentz.
She was a florist most of her adult life and loved sharing her talents with others. She blessed many couples with beautiful wedding flowers and loved to help her friends with their celebrations. Helen was a master in the kitchen where cooking for others brought her great joy.
Helen was a graduate of Orleans High School, class of 1963, member of the Orleans United Methodist Church and the Eta chapter of Tri Kappa. She served on the Orleans Community Schools school board for many years.
Her parents, daughter Kristin Emily Hardman, sisters Jane Huffman, Mona LaFon, Rachel Henderson and Rowena Hall preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held at Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans, IN on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 3-7pm. Service will be held at the Orleans United Methodist Church (171 Second Street, Orleans, IN) on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 11am. The family will receive visitors from 10am until the time of the service.

Ward married Rhonda Gayle Byrd Harrell and she preceded him in death. He was retired and previously worked in the Medical Care.
He is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virginia R. Jenkins, 88, of Speedway, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born October 14, 1933, in Bedford, she was the daughter of William and Mary Jane (Lane) Byers. She married Charles Eugene Jenkins and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Turner, of Bedford; two sons, David Jenkins, of Speedway and Doug Jenkins, of Bedford; four grandchildren, D.J. Jenkins, Dustin Webb, Stephanie Webb, and David Robbins; two great grandchildren, Michael Holland, and Devin Webb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and seven siblings.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 29th at Green Hill Cemetery with Jimmy Johnson officiating. No visitation hours are scheduled.

Russell Mark Hiatt

Russell Mark Hiatt came into this world on a stormy evening in Lakewood, Ohio, on May 12, 1956. He was born of two proud parents, Clarence Roger and Dorothy (Roglin) Hiatt.
Russ felt grateful to have had good employment and good co-workers during his career. He felt especially blessed for the good friends, family, loving wife Clara, and his Lord Jesus.
After graduating from Buckeye High School in Medina, Ohio, in 1974, Russell held various jobs until graduating from Owens College in 1982 with a degree in Diesel Technology.
He joined the US Air Force in 1984. He served his country overseas and at home for the next 10 years. Russell began as a Propulsion Tech Jet Engines, progressed to Crew Chief, and then as Technical Training Instruction, Aerospace Propulsion Craftsman, Jet Engines for many years. Among the many medals, badges, and citations Russell earned include AF Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, served in support of Desert Shield/Storm, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship, and the AF Training Ribbon. Russell felt honored to serve his country as a peacekeeper. He truly believed in the concept of Peace Through Strength.
After honorable release from Active Duty from the Air Force, he continued to serve his community by joining the Decatur Township School Transportation Department as a bus mechanic. In charge of the School Bus Fleet, Russ was responsible for the safe and reliable operation of over 100 school busses serving over 5,000 children in the district for 12 years.
In 2007, Russ joined the NAPA organization as a Freight Delivery Truck Driver. Russ was appreciative and grateful for being totally accepted into the NAPA team upon joining as a new driver, when everyone else on the crew already had 25-30 years at NAPA.
In 1987, he married his High School Sweetheart, Linda Hall. Their love lasted less than a year, before she lost her battle with cancer.
While still in the service, he met the love of his life, Clara (Beavers). They were married in 1990 and shared a wonderful life together for 31 years.
On October 26, 2021, we rejoice that after a battle with Covid-19, Russell has joined the Church Triumphant. He left his world on a peaceful morning surrounded by family and loved ones.
Russell would like to let everyone know, that in his life, he always did his best to serve his employers, his friends, his family, and his Lord.
A very special shout out to all the hard-working caregivers and staff at Community South Hospital, for their care and compassion during his stay.
Russell is survived by his wife, Clara (Beavers) Hiatt; brother, Ronald (wife Gretchen); brother, Randall (partner Shirley Pirl); and step-son, Allen Stultz.
Russell was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Lantz, and father, Roger Hiatt.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford. Burial will follow in Proctor Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until the service hour on Saturday at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.

James “Big Jim” Thomas Wilson

James “Big Jim” Thomas Wilson, Sr., 86, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
He was born in Millwood, Kentucky, to Edward Christopher and Edie Jane (Decker) Wilson.
Jim was retired and a life-long mechanic.
Surviving are six daughters, June, Jane, Tammy, Kelly, Jenny and Anne; daughter-in-law, Cathy; 23 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James, Jr.; one granddaughter, Courtney; and 10 siblings.
The funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 31, 2021, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Pastor Reno Bates officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until the service hour, also at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.

Martha “Sue” Wininger age 83 of Shoals passed away on October 25, 2021 at 4:04 Am at her residence.
She was born on February 17, 1938 in Miami, Florida to Francis Marion George and Mabel (Bibb) George. Sue married Sherman Elmer Wininger on December 21, 1955 in Temple, Texas and he was preceded her in death 2008.
She was a homemaker and of the Protestant Faith.
Survivors include her children, Aloaha E. (Joseph) Jones of Shoals, Frank Wininger of Shoals, Sabra Sue (Terry) Bough of Shoals, Angie M. Diamond of Shoals and Sabrina “Bina” Graham of Brownsburg, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Aloaha Lynn Wininger in infancy, one son, Thomas S. Wininger in 2019.
Cremation was chosen with burial in Allbright Cemetery.

Paul Saunders, 68, of Springville, danced his way into Heaven on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Born September 13, 1953, in Bedford, he was the son of Lester and Anne (Arthur) Saunders.
Paul was a member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsman’s Club. He loved his family, friends, and dancing.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his parents, Lester and Anne Saunders; children, Leslie (Andrew) Crawford, Thomas “T.J” (Shelby Bargo) Saunders, and Josh (Robin) Holt; grandchildren, Kaydence, Olivia, and Corbin Paul Crawford, Waylon Saunders, Clara Lumpe, and Elin Holt; companion, Connie Lindsey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Saunders and his sister, Ellen Reeves.

Luther O. Fuhrman, age 89, of Shoals, passed October 26, 2021, at the Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Community in Jasper.
He was born November 10, 1931, in Jasper, Indiana to Elmer P. and Margaret (Braun) Fuhrman.
Luther was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Korea. He had a business serving local farmers for many years and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Loogootee.
Survivors include one son, Randall Fuhrman of Loogootee; one daughter, Susan Fuhrman of Mitchell; seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two sisters, Luetta Mercier of Bloomington, and Ruth Elkins of Anderson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Roger Fuhrman; two grandchildren, Matthew Fuhrman and Joey Hunt; one great granddaughter; one brother Emil Fuhrman; and one sister, Lovella Singer.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 30. 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Loogootee with Pastor Timothy Fleace officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals. Visitation will be 3:30 until 6:30 PM Friday at The Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals.

Mark E. Peters, 66, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at his residence.
Born August 5th, 1955, in Lawrence County, he was the son of James Joseph Peters and Edna Charlotte (Goens) Lewis. He had retired as a worker of Visteon, a position he had held for over 25 years.
A caring father, brother, and uncle, he was a collector of all sorts of antiques and knick-knacks over the years, often sharing his treasures with family and friends. A lover of the outdoors in his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and boating all throughout Lake Monroe here in Indiana. Always on the go and full of energy, he has now been afforded an opportunity of long-needed rest. A devout Christian and lover of God, his immeasurable faith no doubt has followed with him in his passing.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda M. Stephenson and Husband, Josh, of Mitchell; a son, Mark E. Peters II of CA; four grandchildren, Joshua Cole Stephenson, Colton Krise, Brennan Ayers, and Justice Ayers; four sisters, Kay Armstrong and husband, Larry, Polly Flynn, Brenda Watson and husband, Russell, and Patty Turner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild, Audrey Krise; two brothers, Donald Harrison, and James Harrison; two sisters, Shirley Hutchison and Wanda Busch.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Clarence Brown officiating. Nancy Delle (Cracraft) Hawkins, 77, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Golden Living Center.
Born May 2, 1944 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Rev. Rex Cracraft and Gayle (DePhue) Cracraft. Nancy was a graduate of Bloomington High School, class of 1962, before going on to earn her B.S. and M.S in Education from Indiana University.
Nancy was a teacher in Bloomington for 40 years, and spent most of her years teaching kindergarten at Rogers Elementary School. She also spent time teaching at Arlington, Templeton, Small World Preschool, and was the last teacher at the two room Phillips school before it was closed in 1967. Nancy was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Chapter in Bloomington, as well as an active member in Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her son, Troy (Clara) Hawkins; granddaughter, Leslie (Austin) Hollers; grandson, Keith Hawkins; sisters, Susan Carol (David) Floyd and Sara Beth (Henry) Hunt.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lester Hawkins.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington, Indiana 47401. Alma M. Hardesty, 100, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Community Hospital East, Indianapolis.
She was born October 13, 1921, to August and Otillia (Schulz) Zinner. She married Frank W. Hardesty on October 12, 1946, and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1992.
Alma was a homemaker and school cafeteria cook, having worked at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School, from 1960-1974, and later at Bedford-North Lawrence High School, from 1977-1987. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the St. Vincent Altar Society.
Surviving Alma are her sons, Dennis (Shannon) Hardesty of Springville and Don (Toni) Hardesty of Bedford; grandchildren, Justin Hardesty, Amy Canada and Ryan (Lindsey) Hardesty, all of Bedford; great-grandchildren, Madison, Macy, Maradyn, Ale, Tylar, Gracee, Emma, Austin and Aivah; and sister, Martha O’Hara of Louisville.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; and sisters, Rita Kaller, Vera Reichel and Marcella Coffman.
Funeral services for Alma will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2021, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Jegan Peter officiating. Jackie Leon Fender Sr., 74, of Heltonville, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born September 10, 1947, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Charles and Bernice (Meadows) Fender. He married Wanda Kinser on November 2, 1972, and she survives.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda; children, Jackie (Jodie) Fender Jr., LaDonna Fender Lee, and Lena (Jason) Gassaway; grandchildren, Dustin Fender, Evan (Kimmy) Martin, Brady Martin, Noah and Sidney Carlile and fiancé Justice Woods, Elizabeth Lee and fiancé Jathan Howe, Eli Lee, Laken Fender, Braden Baker, Samantha and Alexandra Gassaway, and Daisy May; great-grandchildren, Lucas Hopper, Elara Elaine Deckard, and Harrison and Vivien Martin; siblings, Charles (Carol) Fender and Rex Allen Fender; and several nieces and nephews.

Wanda Jean Rager, 86, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born October 23, 1935, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Clarence and Rowena (Green) Cauble. She married Walter Hulet Rager April 26, 1952, and he preceded her in death May 21, 2020.
Wanda had been employed as a switchboard operator for the telephone company and retired from Hoosier Uplands. She was a member of the Mitchell Presbyterian Church and American Legion No. 250 Auxiliary. Wanda enjoyed the Red Hat Society, Happy Travelers, the casino, and traveling. She loved her family and friends.
Surviving are her children, Monte (Pat Atkinson) Rager of Orleans, Dolores “Sissy” Jolley of Mitchell, Kim (Scott) Ferguson of Mitchell; granddaughters, Meghann Rager of Ocala, Florida, Mia Rager of Ocala, Florida, Lauren (Dustin) Wyman of Ocala, Florida, Kenia (Ty) Kirk of Bedford, Mackenzie (Anthony) Reeve of Mitchell, Aften Ferguson of Mitchell; 10 great-grandchildren; 5 extended great-grandchildren.
Her parents; husband; and son-in-law, Jeff Jolley, preceded her in death.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, at Mitchell Cemetery with Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiating.

Gary Lee White, 74, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at his residence.
Born February 21, 1947, in Bedford, he was the son of Hubert and Flora (Hoopingner) White. He married Darlene Rose Edwards October 27, 1967, and she preceded him in death February 11, 2010.
Gary retired from Dana Corporation and was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, tinkering, and loved the outdoors. Gary was an avid NASCAR collector and fan.
Surviving are his children, Tammy J. White of Bloomington, Deanna R. Uland of Mitchell, Donald E. (Debbie) White of Mitchell; grandchildren, Jennifer (Clint) Pemberton, Joseph (Sonya) Wright, Jason Richardson, Jessica Byers, Jonathan Richardson, Sarah Uland, and Bryan Fish; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda (Larry) Jaggers of Mitchell; brother, James White of Tennessee; his beloved dog, Chloe.

James D. “Howdy” Hatfield age 74 of Bedford passed went to be with Jesus and his family in Heaven on October 22, 2021 at 3:30 Am at his residence.
He was born in Oolitic on August 19, 1947 to Corida and Bob Haskett.
Howdy loved Jesus and used every opportunity to tell people how good God had been to him. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan. His joy was his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his hometown and friends from Oolitic and enjoyed eating breakfast with them every week. He loved all the waitresses that knew him by name, and how he liked his food. He enjoyed coaching his kids in baseball, and he never met a stranger. If you ever met him, you knew his life history and he knew yours.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Hatfield, his children, Tesa Hatfield Bunch, Darrin (Khanh) Hatfield, Stevie Canada, Jessie (Robb) Corbin and TJ (Carrie) Canada, 18 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cordia (Bob) Haskett, daughter, Cindy Vance, two sisters, Patty Bezy and Mary Taylor.
Cremation was chosen.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville.

He was born in Bedford on September 3, 1957, to Jim and Linda Baker.
He was a self employed truck driver.
Survivors include his son Travis Abrecka of Florida, Mother Linda Baker and Brother Ed Baker of Phoenix Az, Father Jim Baker and Sister Michele Green of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his sister Heidi.

Annabel Fields, 102, of Bedford, passed away on October 20, 2021, at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born December 19, 1918, in Clay Co., IN, she was the daughter of William and Fannie (Chastain) Taylor. She married Paul Fields on November 9, 1935, and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2003.
She had worked as a cook for 15 years for Oolitic Schools and was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, William D. Fields and wife, Wilma, of Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Judith Fields, of Oolitic; two grandsons, Scott Fields and wife, Dana, of Greenwood and Garrick Fields and wife, Marsha, of Oolitic; two granddaughters, Lisa Tran and husband, Quang, and Kristin Wintin and husband Frank, all of Bedford; six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son, Wilbur Fields, a brother, John Taylor, four sisters, Opal Dale Mullis, Imogene Crane, Vernell Rainey, and Hildred Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rick Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery. Carl Edward Malott, 68, of Bedford, passed away at 3:58 am on Monday, October 18, 2021.
Born November 20, 1952, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Carl Harvey and Ruby Bell (Nicholson) Malott. He married Marlena Kay Malott and she preceded him in death.
He retired as a director of weatherization for Hoosier Uplands. He loved fishing, music and video games. He was a GNCC ATV racing enthusiast.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Jamie); step-daughters, Lisa, Kerrie, and Misty; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kayla (Ryan), Kenneth, Kenna (Adam), Dustin, Eleesha, Cloey, Coty, Skylar, and Chance; great-grandchildren, Piper, Alexis, Sydney, Riley, Raphael, Gabriel, Dashawn, Lamontika, Sylis, and Nadilyn, the mother of his daughter, Pamela.

Joan Craig, 84, of Bloomfield, passed away at 9:30 am on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at her residence.
Born May 2, 1937, in Monroe Co., she was the daughter of Abraham “Blackie” and Ivy Hoff. She married Leland Edward Craig in 1955 and he preceded her in death in 2004.
She was a line worker at RCA for 40 years and a member of the Tunnel Hill Trinity Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include three sons, Marvin Craig and wife, Debra, and Tommy Craig, all of Bloomfield, and Marck Craig, of Linton; a daughter, Sharlet Messel and husband, Calvin, of Sandburn, IN; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Linda, Norma, and Vicki.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, four brothers, two sons, Morris and Leroy Craig, and a daughter, Sandy Lakes.

Toby Cotton Pace, 45, of Bedford, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021, as a result of a tragic accident in Raceland, Louisiana. He was born September 25, 1976, in Bedford, to Danny and Claudia (McDonald) Pace.
Toby graduated from Bedford-North Lawrence High School where he was on the Cross-Country Team, going to the State Finals four years in a row. He loved fishing and playing poker, however, his greatest love in life was for his daughter, Taylor. He was an avid I.U. fan and hated cold weather. He was a self-employed carpenter and had gone to Florida and Louisiana to help repair damages from recent hurricanes.
Surviving to cherish Toby’s memory is his mother, Claudia (Jack) Jean of Bedford; his father, Danny (Carla) Pace of Bedford; daughter, Taylor Pace of Bedford; stepson, Braxton Martin of Bedford; sister, Teressa (Rich) Amburgey of Bedford; four brothers, Daniel Pace of Edinburg, Matthew Pace of Jeffersonville, Josh (Jossi) Pace of Bedford and Justin (Kelsey) Pace of Bedford; and several aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; and nephews.
Toby was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial service for Toby will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford. Friends may be received from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, also at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.

Ronnie was born on January 23, 1949 to John and Agnes (Bex) Frost. He married Joyce Holt on July 15, 1967 and she survives.
Ronnie was the owner of Frosty’s Auto Sales and F & F Variety Store; he was a member of Tabernacle of Grace Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Frost of Mitchell, one daughter, Carol J. (Mark) Pottorff of Bedford, three sons, Ronnie D. Robert E. Bailey, 92, of Bedford, passed at 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at IU Health Bedford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 14, 1929, in Heltonville, he was the son of Loyd and Edith (Kindred) Bailey. He married Marjory Marlott on December 24, 1947, and they were married for seventy years. Marjory preceded him in death on October 20, 2018.
Bob worked on the railroad and in a stone mill during his teenage years. He graduated from Heltonville High School in 1947, where he played varsity basketball for four years. He and Marge owned and operated a restaurant in Heltonville for two years. He then worked at General Motors and for Gordon’s Potato Chips before becoming a salesman of beauty supplies for the next forty years. Bob worked the southern Indiana area for Bailey’s Beauty Supplies that was based out of Chicago. Later, he and Marge owned and operated Bo-Mar Beauty Supplies until retirement in 1997. Bob belonged to the Elks Club for many years and the Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
He was very proud of his family for their accomplishments. Bob was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a soft-spoken, kind, and gentle man. He had a good life, past and present.
Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Bailey McFadden and husband Bill of Bedford; one grandson, John (Courtney) McFadden of Bedford; one granddaughter, Emily (Barron) Compton of Floyd Knobs; four great grandchildren, Reece Compton, Mia Compton, Cooper McFadden, and Lola McFadden; two sisters, Janice (Bill) Baker, and Jeannette Norman; one brother, Leonard (Wynema) Bailey; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Jaunita Kern, and Geneva Taylor; and three brothers, Fred, Kenneth, and Rod Bailey.
Private graveside services will be conducted on Friday, October 22nd. No visitation is scheduled due to the Covid-19 virus. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Bedford.

Kenneth E. Prow
Kenneth E. Prow, 87, passed away October 12, 2021, at White River Lodge.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary Elkins of Bedford, Phyllis Kinder of Bedford and Vicky Woody and husband Jon of Bedford, a nephew, Jerry Prow a niece, Sherry Prow, a sister-in-law, Tammy Grigg and husband Dr. David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight W. and Virginia Beatrice Prow, his wife, Barbara (Stewart) Prow and a brother, Dwight F. Prow.
Ken began his early career working at a family-owned restaurant downtown Bedford, “Javy’s Sandwich Shop”; where he learned to cook and manage business. He later became a successful car salesman helping people and making many friends along the way.
He then pursued the banking industry and worked at Stone City Bank where he retired as a V.P. after 25 years, helping many get a start in life when no one else believed in them. He loved lifting people up when down and out and they would remind him of their gratitude for years to come.
He had a catering business and was a wonderful chef specializing in barbeque ribs considered the best east of the Mississippi!! He loved surprising his family and friends with a funny cake, a delicious pie or his famous ribs.
Ken was blessed with a wonderful personality and sense of humor and had a joke for everyone (although sometimes inappropriate!)
His final home was White River Lodge with his wife of 60 years Barbara, where they received wonderful care and attention. Ken loved it there and had pet names for all the staff and loved hanging out at the nurse’s station singing them a song or two or telling them a funny story. They loved him dearly and let his family know.
He loved people and loved helping them feel very special. He truly had a very big heart for others.

Deborah Ann (Adamson) Robbins

Deborah Ann (Adamson) Robbins, age 64, was called home to the Lord on Friday, September 10, 2021, in Ocoee, Florida.
Debbie was born August 24, 1957, in Bedford, Indiana. Debbie moved to Orlando, Florida after marrying her husband, Rick Robbins, in December 1975.
Debbie was an Optician for 43 years at the Navy Exchange.
Debbie was known by all her grandchildren as “Gammy”. Gammy would always tell them whenever they were faced with any challenge that she was stopping to pray and requesting that God send “An Army of Angels” to tackle their problems. And believe it or not those Angels were on assignment when her prayer went out because miracles would happen! And so, we ask you, Gammy, that as you are waiting for us in Heaven, please continue to ask God to send out His Armies of Angels to surround us and carry us through this challenge today and any more to come. We love you and will keep you alive in our hearts until we meet again.
Debbie enjoyed reading, studying the Bible, attending Real Life Church in Clermont, FL and traveling with her husband Rick and on her yearly “sisters’ trips” with her 3 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Adamson, and brothers-in-law, Mike Gould and David Walton.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Rick Robbins, her daughters Bryana (Telly) and Megan (Brian), her grandchildren, Riley (17), Allen (14), Marcus (12), Dylan (11), Wyatt (8), Aryana (3), Lilyana (2), her mother Dorothy Adamson, her sisters Susan Silver, Cassie Gould, and Evalyn Walton, and her nieces and nephews.
Her husband, daughters, and grandchildren were the love of her life. Debbie was a giver at heart, always ready and willing to take care of her grandkids. She always wanted to give more and more for celebrations like birthdays and Christmas, or even buying anything she found that reminded her of one of the loves of her life. There’s never any doubt that she loved them as hard and as much as humanly possible. She was a God-fearing woman, selfless, amazing, and a one-of-a-kind person. She is loved by everyone who met her.

Roy Dean Strunk

Roy Dean Strunk (September 27, 1936-October 1, 2021), left this world to be with Jesus and join his family who had gone before him. He was 85. We will miss this gentle man with a perpetual smile, who rarely complained or spoke an unkind word about anyone. He was born in Lawrence County and grew up in a large and close-knit family that included his parents Clarence “Bud” and Alta Strunk and eight siblings. Lots of love, laughter and tears have been shared and precious memories made down through the years. A claim to fame, during his youth, was the back to back victories shared with his brother, Tom, as winners of the Bedford Soap Box Derby in 1952-1953!
After graduation from high school (Oolitic Bearcat-1954), he signed up to serve our country, as did his two other brothers. This patriotic legacy has carried on through the generations of the family, including his son Dean (also a war veteran), two grandsons and a granddaughter.
He married Marian Ruth Resner in 1956 and they had five air force “brats”, traveling the world and all over the USA in a station wagon with 2 dogs and NO modern devices…just big imaginations! (Our parents were our biggest cheerleaders and supporters, whether encouraging us in academic excellence or cheering from the sidelines at our many extracurricular activities and events.) He was a Vietnam War Veteran and an Air Force recruiter prior to his retirement in 1976, after 22 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post 33 (Bedford), a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (Oolitic), and the Retired Enlisted Association.
But there’s more to be told! Graduating from IU School of Business, with a degree in Management and Administration in 1981, was quite an accomplishment! (Side by side, with his daughter Patty made this proud moment even more special!) He was a lifetime member of IU School of Business Alumni Association. He worked at Crane 1977-1984 and then retired from Federal Civil Service in 1993 from Headquarters US Army at Rock Island, Illinois. It was here that he met a remarkable woman, Carroll Ruth. They married in 1988 and later moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida where they lived a happy life for 33 years. Traveling the world and making many lifelong friends in the community, they spent many happy hours on the golf course. Kids and grandkids got a lot of golf cart rides whenever they came to visit! He was a member of the Methodist church and served over the years as an Usher, Elder, Deacon and Assistant Treasurer. Always willing to help a neighbor or friend with their computer problems. He had a knack for it and had always loved the latest technology and the newest gadgets! He was a talented woodworker. Forever an enthusiastic IU basketball fan, even in Florida! He loved their dogs Bear and Gina, and their newest addition Felix the cat. But most of all, he loved his family! Strong and very resilient, he survived a war, heart and health issues (including cancer) and even COVID! But he was growing weary from the battle and was ready to “go home”. He died peacefully with his wife Carroll and loving family members surrounding him.
Surviving to cherish his memory, along with his beloved wife Carroll Ruth Strunk are two sons Roy “Dean” Strunk Jr. (Rosa) and Randall E. Strunk, three daughters Kathy S. Sanders, Patty A. Bratt, and Diana L. Boike (Mark).

Stuart Schoen Richards, 70, of Mitchell, passed away at 2:43 pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Bloomington Hospital after a brief illness.
Born July 17, 1951, he was the son of Virgil and Louella (Schoen) Richards. He married Debbie Crane on September 10, 1990, and she survives.
He retired as a parts manager for Crossroads Trucking in Bedford and currently worked at Hancock Construction in Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie, of Mitchell; two daughters, Julie Hudson and husband, Bryce, and Kelly Kapanzhi and husband, Vitaly, all of Bedford; 6 grandchildren, Ray, Peyton, Kaya, Miah, Julia, and Viya; a step-grandson, Braydon; two brothers, Alan Richards and wife, Kay, of Floyds Knobs and Warren Richards and wife, Julie, of Texas.

She attended Church Anywhere by First Capital Church of Corydon. Lacey enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, canoeing, and helping children & those in need. She loved her friends and family, especially her little brother.

John Thomas Black, age 67, went into the eternal presence of Jesus October 10, 2021. He was born June 6, 1954.
John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joanne (Kyser) Black , son Jarred Black of Mooresville, daughter Jillian Wiggington of Plainfield, son Jordan and daughter-in-law Kayla (Sego) Black of Greenwood and daughter Jonalee Black of Mooresville. John was the proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren. Austin, Jacob, Jayla, Sydney, Joshua and Jase. John is also survived by a sister Barbara and her husband Tim Nawrocki, 7 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
John is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Mary (Vandeventer) Black, brother Robert Black, grandson Josiah Black, Joanne’s parents Don and Jean Kyser and her step-mother Sharon Kyser and many other loved ones.
John graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1972. John worked at Laboratory Supply, Diamond Chain, Central Rubber and Supply, Roberts Dairy, EAR/Cabot Safety and Roadway, all of Indianapolis, Heitink Veneers and Herald Times of Bloomington.
John retired in January, 2021, after 27 years as shipping manager at PRD in Springville, Indiana. John was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, Limestone Baptist Church of Bedford, Bloomington Baptist (now Redeemer) of Bloomington. He enjoyed serving in the churches, mentoring youth, teaching the Bible, partnering in prayer working with boys teaching Bible as well as practical skills. He had a heart for sharing Jesus demonstrated by his life and supported missions as well as faithfully distributing scriptures as a member of The Gideons International for about 40 years.
John enjoyed participating in activities such as softball, baseball, basketball, bowling, golfing and camping. His most treasured times were with his grandchildren playing games, blocks, building fires, 4 wheelers, paper routes, power tools and pinewood derby cars. He rarely missed any game, meet, cheerleading, or marching band of the children or grandchildren or any programs or events in which family was involved. He enjoyed hearing Joanne play and sing music. Absent from this body, present with The Lord.
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township 5463 Kentucky Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46221 from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2021.

Ray Edward Waggoner

Ray Edward Waggoner, 85, of Bedford, passed on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born March 7, 1936, in Williams, he was the son of Orville and Metta (Thomas) Waggoner. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Aliano, on May 17, 1956, and they were married for 65 years.
He worked at RCA in Bloomington for 14 years, then at Western Electric/Lucent until his retirement in May 1990. He was transferred to Chicago in 1981 and commuted on the weekends for 9 years. He made many friends in Chicago who he remained in contact with. He then worked as a contractor for Midwest Technologies for 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Oolitic Church of Christ. He loved his God and took part in church as long as he was able. He loved gardening and his horses, Moon, Sugar, Cody and Little Bit. He always had a huge garden and kept a meticulous yard. He loved his companion, a Corgi named Missy. In his later years, he and Missy would sit in the back yard and Missy would chase birds and bark at the squirrels. He loved spending time with his granddaughters, playing cards, hide and seek, camping and attending their activities, ballgames and dance recitals. He was a proud papaw. He loved fishing with his sons and hunting grouse and pheasants. He loved the vacations his family took every 5 years including Disney World, a Disney cruise and a week in the outer banks, and an Alaskan cruise.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his sons, Brad (Sally) Waggoner, and Mike (Laura) Waggoner; granddaughters, Amanda (Sean) Hunter, Audra (Jason) Dailey, Anna Waggoner, Lacy (Zach) Bailiff, and Laken (Jacek) Zapendowski; great grandchildren, Gabriella Ray Hunter, Lucy Elizabeth Hunter, Olivia Grace Dailey, Grant Lewis Dailey, Lola Jo Bailiff,and Zoey James Bailiff; siblings, Roy (Sue) Waggoner, Jane Mundy, Sharon Hillenburg (Laramie), Herb (Rita) Waggoner.
He was preceded by his parents; his brother, Bill; a brother in infancy, James.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 16th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Lois C. Flynn

Lois C. Flynn, 87, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born March 17, 1934, in Monroe Co., she was the daughter of Erna and Kathryn (Bennett) Todd. She married Darrell E. Flynn on July 12, 1952, and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2011.
She worked at RCA and later was a seamstress for 20+ years at Turner Dolls. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa (George) Sallade, of Bedford, and Kathy (Rick) Arthur, of Loogootee; a son, David A. (Patricia) Flynn, of Springville; grandchildren, Zachary (Amanda) Flynn, Ashley Flynn Shields, Jarrod Sallade, Lauren (John) Beene, and Josh (Alisha) Arthur; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon (Eugene) Thompson and Ann Sullivan, both of Kirksville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Ricky Lee Arthur, Jr.; a great-grandson, Theo Beene; a brother, Edgar (Judy) Todd; a sister, Judith Todd; and a brother-in-law, Max Sullivan.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 16th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Walker’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, October 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Alan D. Lee, 56, of Bedford, passed away at 12:23 am on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Bell Trace Rehab. Center in Bloomington surrounded by his loved ones.
Born October 26, 1964, in Bedford, he was the son of Billie J. and Brenda (Short) Lee. He loved fishing and spending time with family and friends, especially his five grandchildren.
Survivors include three children, Michael (Dezza) Lee and T.J. (Kaleigh) Lee, all of Bedford and Emily Rose Lee and fiancé, Cristhian Dob, of SC; five grandchildren, Brogan, Bryant, Brenlyn, Hadley and Harper Lee; two brothers, Troy (Vicki) Lee and Morgan W. (Rachael) Lee, all of Bedford; his mother, Brenda S. Lee, of Bedford; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Billie J. Lee; his paternal grandparents, John and Elizabeth Lee; his maternal grandparents, Morris and Gladieth Short, and his uncle, Bobbie Lee.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Danny Goens and Bro. Mike Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinhook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Friday, October 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Janet Sue (Goodman) Skinner, 80, of New Whiteland, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 in Franklin, Indiana.
Janet was born on November 5, 1940 in Needmore, Indiana to the late George Edwin and Beatrice (Jeffers) Goodman.
Janet worked as a cook for McCory’s Restaurant until her retirement. She had a strong, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and was a member of the Church of the Bible in Franklin. She was a loving friend and neighbor to all.
Janet is survived by her three sons, Mike, David, and Scott Skinner; her five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Billie Ann Chester.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Skinner, and her parents, George and Beatrice Goodman.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 1:00pm at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel with visitation from 11:00am until the funeral hour. A graveside service is to follow at 4:00pm at Pleasant Run Cemetery in Bedford, Indiana.

Priscilla Davidson

Priscilla Davidson, of Medora, passed away peacefully on the early morning of Thursday October 7, 2021 at IU Health of Bloomington. She was 80 years old.
Priscilla entered this life on April 15, 1941 in Ft. Ritner, Indiana. She was one of eleven children born to the loving parents, Merle and Gladys (Evans) Beavers.
Priscilla attended Tunnelton High School before meeting the love of her life, Dallas. Priscilla was united in marriage to Dallas Davidson on May 7, 1957 in Medora. This union of 64 years was blessed with a daughter Treasa.
She worked for the Medora Plastics Factory until the factory closed. She went to work at the Vallonia Tree Nursery and worked in Home Health taking care of the elderly.
Priscilla was a devoted wife, loving mother and Mamaw Dal. She loved spending time with her family.
Surviving to cherish her memories, husband Dallas Davidson of Medora, daughter Treasa Ray of Medora, grandchildren, Byron Ray and his wife Summer of Kurtz, Bradley Ray and his wife Tessa of Brownstown, and Wesley Ray of Medora, great-grandchildren Madison, Ellena, Kade, Remington, McCoy and Atley, sisters, Iva White of Bedford, Clara Hyatt and her husband Russell of Indianapolis, Patricia Brown and her husband Roger of Bedford, Mary Oliver of Franklin, and Sharon Pierce of Orleans and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Grace Sullivan and Carolyn Prince, three brothers, Virgil Beavers, Roy Beavers, and Clarence Beavers, and a son-in-law, Dennis Ray.
Funeral Service will be conducted at Hague Funeral Home of Medora, on Wednesday October 13, 2021 with Ron Byarlay officiating. She will be laid to rest at Proctor Cemetery-Dixon Cemetery.
Friends may call at Hague Funeral Home of Medora on Tuesday October, 12, 2021 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and on Wednesday after 10:00 am until time of the service.

Douglas J. Blackburn

Douglas J. Blackburn, 71, of Bedford, died at 7:55 am on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born December 15, 1949, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Reed M. and Hester Jane (Hawkins) Blackburn. He married Brenda Long on June 26, 2006, and she survives.
Douglas was a retired sheet metal worker. He was a US Navy Veteran and a member of the National Guard. He was a member of the 39th Street Christian Church, Oolitic Masonic Lodge #750, Outdoor Sportsman Club of Mitchell, and Sheet Metal Workers Union #20. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include his wife Brenda of Bedford;; one daughter, Amy Blackburn Romig of Indianapolis ; one son; Andy Blackburn (Amy) of Bedford; six grandchildren, Matt and Ben Romig, Bailey, Clayton and Sarah Blackburn, and Joplynn Landreth; four step-children, Tim Deckard of Fayetteville, Vivian (Steve) Flynn of Mitchell, Teresa (Scott) Chaillaux of Bedford, and Curtis (Jamie) Deckard of Bedford; nine step-grandchildren, Alysha, Ashley, Amy, Allie and Carmen Deckard, Terry and Sarah Flynn, Shelby, Morgan and Darian Cobb; eight step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Carlson and Roxanne Blackburn Enochs, of FL.; one daughter-in-law, Stacy Landreth Blackburn of Bedford; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Justin Blackburn; one daughter, Abigail Blackburn; one brother, Monty Blackburn; one sister, Andrea S. Nickless; and one grandson, Dayton Landreth.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 14th, 2021, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Michael Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday October 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Herschel Stines, Jr., 79, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born October 18, 1941, he was the son of Herschel Sr. and Dorothy (Stogdill) Stines. He married Mary Louise Harden on January 8, 1962, in Nashville, IN and she survives.
Herschel retired from RCA and Thompson Consumer Electronics in Bloomington. He was part owner along with his brother, Paul Stines, in Stines Insulation. He attended Highland Faith Assembly of God in Bloomington.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Herschel is his wife, Louise Stines of Bedford; daughter, Bonnie Stines of Bedford; son, Timothy Stines, Sr. and wife Wendi, of Bedford; son-in-law, Todd Fisher of Unionville; grandchildren, Melissa (Brent) Rodman, Robert (Tabitha) Chilton, Matthew (Nathalie) Chilton, Rebecca Jones, Timothy Jr. (Destiny) Stines, William Stines, Blaine Stillions, Hannah Williams, Haleigh Williams, and Katie Fisher; great grandchildren, Colton, Hunter, Dakota, Kaylyn, Jaxson, Emmalynn, Cody, Winsten, and Tyler; brother, David Stines of Bloomington; sister, Ellen (Jimmy) Taylor of Smithville; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lois Fisher; brothers, Glen, Paul, Russell, Art and Ralph; sister, Edith Tolliver, Darlene Hayes, and Clara in infancy.

Louis Elvis Howard, 62, of Bedford, passed away October 8, 2021, at I. U. Health Hospital, Bloomington.
He was born in Lawrence County on June 23, 1959, to Elvis and Minnie E. (Reeves) Howard.
Louis was a graduate of Bedford-North Lawrence High School and had attended Ivy Tech. He retired from Visteon and most recently had worked at Bedford Machine & Tool. He was a member of the local IUE Union.
Surviving to cherish Louis’ memory are his son, Geoff Howard; cousin, Beth Abner Gray; and special friends, Jim and Katie Floerke.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents.

Betty Jo Taflinger

Betty Jo Taflinger, 88, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at her home.
Born April 23, 1933, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Elmer and Lelia (Williamson) Smith. She married Newton Andrew “Newt” Taflinger September 30, 1981, and he preceded her in death May 24, 2011.
Betty had been a waitress in the Bloomington area and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 9107. She loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida. Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed her animals, and was an excellent seamstress and crafter.
Survivors include her children, Sherry Melski of Indianapolis, Treva Carron of Bedford, and Tammy Banks (Paul) Wilber of Bloomington; stepchildren, Rick (Leatta) Taflinger of Avoca, Cheryl (Kenny) Watterson of Granger, Tona (Anthony) Dobson of Jasper, Georgia, Beth (Ken) Compton of Venice, Florida, and Sheila (Eddy) Grubb of Orleans; grandchildren, Sandra Strunk, Teresa Voorhies (caregiver), David Carron, Chris Carron, Joni Vibbart, Jawna Banks, Janelle Banks Deckard; several step grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
Her parents; husband; son-in-law, Robert Melski; stepson, Mike Taflinger; and siblings, Louis Smith, Agnes Meadows, Alma Smith, Viola Jackson, Leslie Smith, Audrey Myers, Norman Smith, and infants, Leon Smith and Ethel Smith, preceded her in death.

Leah Jane Baker

Leah Jane Baker, 75, of Orleans, passed away at 10:35 AM on Sunday, October 10, at her childhood home in Orleans, Indiana.
She was born September 22, 1946 in Bedford, Indiana, the daughter of Karl and Ruth (Hardman) Hall.
Janie was a member of the Orleans High School Class of 1964. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Sullivan College of Technology & Design in 2009 at the age of 63.
She spent her career first working for her father at Hall Trucking Company and later as a co-owner of Baker Oil Company while raising her family. Later in life she worked for Holland Insurance Company and most recently retired from the office of the Town of Orleans where she worked for the past 11 years.
Janie was the first woman elected to the Orleans Town Council. She was Republican Precinct Committeewomen for Orleans and very active in the Republican Party. She served as a past officer of the Orange County Republican Woman’s Club, Orleans Kiwanis Club and the Eta Chapter of Tri-Kappa where she was as an active member for over 55 years. She was also a member of the Lost River Chapter of DAR for over 52 years, the Orange County Hospital Foundation Board, Orange County Historical Society and Orleans United Methodist Church organist for over 50 years and served on many church committees.
She is survived by a daughter, Shawn Baker of Crestview Hills, Kentucky; a son, Johnny Baker of Orleans; four grandsons, Johnny, Karl, Jack and Ike Baker; and brothers, Frank (Beth) Hall; and J.C. (Norma) Hall of Orleans; and several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews who she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ann Karlene Hall.
The funeral will be on Friday, October, 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Orleans United Methodist Church with Pastors Ralph Purkhiser, Thomas Bostic and Michael Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Orleans. Friends are invited to visitation at Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM- 8:00 PM. A Tri-Kappa Memorial Service will be at 7:45 PM Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Orleans United Methodist Church or to Orange County Cancer Patient Services.

George E. Mosier

George E. Mosier, 86, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Brown County Health and Living in Nashville.
Born February 19, 1935, he was the son of George Cook and Bessie Mosier. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Jot Wilson, both of whom he loved very much. He married Janice Kay Price, and she preceded him in death on April 12, 2021.
George attended Oolitic schools and quit school to start working on the railroad at the age of 15. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a truck driver most of his life.
George enjoyed buying, selling, and trading about anything. He also had a passion for horses, mules, and trail riding. He especially enjoyed riding his favorite mule, Rufus. He most enjoyed walks with his wife around Spring Mill State Park.
Surviving to remember George is his son, Michael (Kelly) Mosier; one daughter, Debbie Prince; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; his mother and stepfather; three sons, Tony, Bill and Eddie Mosier; and one son-in-law, Wayne Prince.
Funeral services for George E. Mosier will be at noon on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the Highview Baptist Church in Bedford. Burial will follow at Carmichael Cemetery in Greene County. Visitation will be from 10-noon at the Highview Baptist Church.

Leonard Ray Prince, 85, of Springville passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in Bedford at the Westview Nursing and Rehab.
He was born on September 21, 1936 in Monroe County, Indiana the son of Curtis Lloyd and Hazel Verna (Hillenburg) Prince.
Leonard was a member of the Gospel Assembly in Bloomington. He was a self-employed farmer and logger for most of his life. Leonard was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on his farm. He loved his family and enjoyed his time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Leonard is survived by his sons, Tim (Evelyn) Prince of Springville; Jeff (Joani Johnson) Prince of Bloomington; Patrick (Tammy) Prince of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Justin (Shella) Turpin; Jay (Cherise) Turpin; Tracy (Ricky) Litrell; Stacy Grubb; Timothy Prince II; Anthony Prince; Brittany Praither; Chantel (Shane) Chasten; Whitney (Mitch) King; twenty one great grandchildren; eighteen great great grandchildren; three sisters, Lois (Edgar) Kidd of Bloomington; Gledia (David) Green of Bloomington; Roberta Kelly of Ellettsville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Tony and Levi Prince; his sister, Bernice Minartz; three brothers, Robert, roger and Delbert Prince.

Janet Kay (Keith) Byrer, 80, of Bedford, passed peacefully from this world at the University of Louisville Hospital on Thursday, October 7, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Janet was born on April 13, 1941, in Daviess County to the late Elmer and Mary Keith. She was married to the late Jack Byrer for 59 years, until his passing in 2020.
Janet was an accomplished bookkeeper, as well as a nurturing homemaker and mother. She served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as a member of Leatherwood Christian Church. She was also her grandchildren’s number-one fan at baseball, basketball, football, wrestling, tennis and volleyball games and matches.
In addition to her parents and husband, Janet is preceded in death by her sister, Marsha Endsley, her brother, Verlin Keith, and an infant brother, Larry Keith.
Surviving family members include her children, Amy Garmon (Vince) of New Albany, Indiana and Brent Byrer (Tami) of Bedford; her sister, Carolyn Robertson of Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren, Evan Garmon (Mollie) of Sellersburg, Indiana, Blaine Byrer (Abby Schabel) of Bedford, Luke Garmon (fiancé Hayley Haws) of Louisville, Kentucky, Marissa Buess (Jeremy) of New Albany, Indiana, and Blaze Byrer (Sydney Stahl) of Bedford; and great grandchildren, Skylar Garmon and Brixton Buess.

Kirk Delno Kennedy, 59, of Mitchell, died at his residence Wednesday morning, October 6, 2021.
Born September 29, 1962, in Kokomo, IN, he was the son of Delno Kennedy and Marcia (Johnson) Kennedy. He married April Whitney on July 3, 1995, and she survives.
He was a supervisor through General Motors Powertrain. He was an all-around family guy that loved spending time with his family. He was always active in the kids’ sporting events. He was a hard worker and took great pride in mowing his yard and being outdoors.

Matthew Kenneth Hunter, 28, of Cullman, AL passed away on Thursday October 7, 2021, at the I.U. Methodist Hospital.
Born February 11, 1993, in Bedford, IN he was the son of Brad S. Hunter and Jenny S. (Brooking) Bailey. He worked for Clayton Homes. Matthew was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and loved fishing and Alabama football.
Survivors include: his mother and stepfather, Jenny and Shelby Bailey of Tuscumbia, AL; his father and stepmother, Brad and Jami Hunter of Bedford; two stepbrothers: Andrew and Paul Bailey of Tuscumbia, AL; two half-brothers, Jackson and Levi Hunter of Bedford; maternal grandmother, Melinda Brooking of Bedford; two aunts: Polly Miller and husband Tommy of Brown County, IN, and Beth Hughes and husband Derek of Pekin; several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Danny and Toni Hunter, maternal grandfather, Philip Brooking, and his uncle, Greg Hunter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 9th, 2021, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church Cemetery.

Mark K. Smoot, age 62, of French Lick, Indiana, entered into eternal rest on October 6th, 2021 at his residence.
He was born in Bedford, Indiana on January 25th, 1959 to Bud and Barbara (Sowders) Smoot.
Mark was preceded in death by his Parents.
He married Doloris West in 1977 and she survives.
Mark was a 1977 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School and retired from A & D Distributors after 23 years as a Route Supervisor. He had also been owner and operator of West’s IGA and Smoot’s Pizza in French Lick.
He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports (especially IU), taking care of flowers, sitting by the pool and spending time with family and friends.

Donna Sue (Speer) McPherson Pogue, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Tuesday October 5, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 78 years old.
Donna entered this life on March 15, 1943, in Jackson County, Indiana. She was the fourth daughter born to Everett and Ordella (Marsh) Speer. She was the loving sister to Wanda, Mary Lou, Lois, Hubert, Herbert, Gary Dean, And Ruth.
On September 7, 1959, at Ft. Ritner, Indiana she married the love of her life, John D. McPherson. This union of almost 40 years were blessed with three children, John, Beverly, and Penny. John preceded Donna on March 8, 1996.
Donna was able to find love again and was united in marriage to Allen D. Pogue in at Brownstown Christian Church on July 1, 2014. He preceded on January 9, 2016.
Donna was a devoted wife, loving mother, huggable Gram and Grandma. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of the Brownstown Christian Church and was an active member of the groups, Golden Wheels, and the Tuesday Card Group. Donna was a member of Medora Lion’s Club where she served actively for over 11 years. Donna was a factory worker, she worked for the Medora Plastic Factory, and then she went to work for Sylvania until she retired after eleven years. Donna wasn’t one to stay still very long and she went back to work for Schwartz Pharma and worked for another 15 years, before going to work for Family Drug of Brownstown. Donna always joked, that her career went from making drugs to selling drugs.
She leaves memories of love with her children, John D McPherson and his wife Kathryn of Muncie, Bev Davers and her husband Bob of Brownstown, and Penny Hinderlider and her husband James of Brownstown, stepson David Pogue and his wife Karen of Hope, stepdaughter Wanda Holman and her husband Bob of Brownstown, grandchildren, Joel McPherson, Josh McPherson, Jenna McPherson, Johnathon Davers and his wife Hayley, and Jennifer Anderson, Paige Hinderlider, Levi Hinderlider and his fiancé Aimee Arthur, step grandchildren, Shawn Harris, Amber Thompson, and Matt Thompson, and many great-grandchildren, a sister, Mary Lou Speer of Bedford, brothers, Herb Speer and his wife Helen of Bedford, Stoney Speer and his wife Toni of Yorktown, Indiana, and Gary Speer and his wife Linda of Centerville, Tennessee.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Wanda Piatt, Lois Speer, and Ruth Level
Funeral Services will be conducted at Brownstown Christian Church on Saturday October 9, 2021, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Doug Pogue and Pastor Mitch McIntyre officiating. She will be laid to rest at Proctor Cemetery/Dixon Chapel.

Tony Dewayne Prince 61, of Bedford passed away at 11:30 am Tuesday at IU Health Bloomington with his family by his side.
Born February 9, 1960 in Bloomington Indiana to Floyd and Lois (Hawkins) Prince. He married Sharon Lynn on April 28 1984 . Tony was a heavy equipment operator for the Operators Union for 38 years with the last 4 as an employee of E&B Paving. Tony enjoyed working with his son and brother everyday for the past 4 years but had planned to retire in November.
Tony was a hard working man with a great sense of humor who liked to tease everyone and cared deeply for others. When he wasn’t spending time with his family he enjoyed being with his closest friends riding motorcycles together. He was always willing to help those around him and loved to catch up with old friends when he ran into them. He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving to cherish Tonys’ memory are his wife Sharon, son Chad (Jeanelle) Prince, daughters Amber (Levi) Godsey, and Nicki (Cody) Baker. Grandchildren Jasmine Baker, Bracie Godsey, Brandt Godsey, Addy Godsey and Baylee Prince. Brothers Tim, Tom and Ted Prince, sister Kathy Lawmaster; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Lois (Hawkins) Prince.

Born in Lawrence County on October 18, 1938, she was the daughter of Pat Harrison Deckard and Rena E. (Flora) Deckard. She married Charlie Young on March 13, 1995 and he preceded her in death.
Mary Ann was a homemaker and was a graduate of Heltonville High School with the class of 1957. She was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church and was president of the Heltonville Alumni Banquet Committee.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Mary Ann are her two sons, Douglas W. Pete J. Stephenson, Jr., 87, of Springville passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the I.U. Health Hospice House.
Born February 1, 1934, he was the son of Simon Peter “Pete” and Lonnie (Jones) Stephenson. He married Ethel E. Lambert on April 6, 1957, and she preceded him in death on December 17, 2011.
He retired in 1995 from Otis Elevator as an Expeditor. He was of the Baptist faith. Pete served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from June 1952 until June 1956 and was discharged after achieving the rank of MMFM.
Survivors include his wife Edna Overman of Springville, one son, Paul Stephenson of Bedford; one daughter, Carolyn Johnson of Buckeye Lake, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; two brothers, David Paul Stephenson and his wife Deen of Deltona, Florida, and Dale Stephenson of Texas; two sisters, Wanda Bennett of Bloomington, and Cathy Guffey and her husband Jim.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a son Richard Bruce Stephenson, a daughter Peggy Stephenson, a brother, Charles Stephenson, a son-in-law, Clarence Johnson, and a sister-in-law.

Delores M. McAlhaney, 89, of Springville, passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at I.U. Health Hospital, Bedford.
She was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Lawrence County, to Arvel and Eva Mae (Robertson) Brinson. She married Darrel McAlhaney on Nov. 14, 1951, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 2007.
Delores was a graduate of Needmore High School. She had worked at I. U. Health, Bedford, and was a member of Avoca Baptist Church since 1950. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was very active in the Ladies Missionary Group.
Surviving to cherish Delores’ memory are her children, Alan (Judy) McAlhaney, Beverly McAlhaney and Pam (Greg) Rainey; grandchildren, Mindy Rainey and Jennie McAlhaney; great-grandchildren, Brayden Evans, Kylee Rainey and Jordan McAlhaney; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Delores in death were her parents; husband, Darrel; daughter, Denise McAlhaney; and two brothers, Eugene and Wayne Brinson.

She worked at M Fine and Sons as a seamstress. She was a member of the Midtown Church of Christ.

Edward Ray Bay, 63, of Bedford, died on October 1st at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born May 29, 1958 in Lebanon, TN, he was the son of Earl Thomas Bay and Mary Ann (Sheldon) Bay. He married Tammy Romans on March 23, 1981 and she survives.
He worked for Shoney’s for over 40 years, eventually owning several and was most recently a laborer for General Motors. He was a very passionate member of the Bedford Contingent, through which he was a NRA instructor.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy of Bedford; two sons, Caleb Thomas Bay and William Christopher Bay, both of Bedford; his mother, Mary Ann of Lebanon, TN; siblings, Mary Edna Bay, Ann Marie Clemmons, and Gail Hart and husband Tommy; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his father, Earl Bay and one brother, William “Bubba” Bay.

Lorna had been employed at Standard Oil Company, Mitchell Manor, and Wal-Mart. She was a member of the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene. She graduated from Washington High School in 1963.

Douglas M. Atchason, 70, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born April 11, 1951, at Bryantsville, he was the son of Elmer D. and Martha (Grissom) Atchason.
Doug was vice president at Overland Trucking. He loved to travel with his son and enjoyed coaching his daughter’s softball team. He was a movie and trivia buff and had a knack for meeting celebrities on his many travels. Doug enjoyed socializing and never met a stranger. He enjoyed golfing, watching the Colts, and attending the Indy 500. Doug loved to reminisce about his high school days (Mitchell High School Class of 1969) while being a member of the yearbook staff and journalism club. He was proud of his Bryantsville heritage and always has stories to tell about his youth. He grew up in the Bryantsville Church of Christ.
Survivors include his beloved companion, Joyce Chenoweth, of Mitchell; children, Chris D. Atchison of Whiteland and Laura (Will) Johnston of Carmel; grandchildren, Jarrod, Megan, Nicholas, Henry, and Mashall; sister, Dianna (Rex) Fleetwood of Bedford; and nephews, Kris Kimbley of Bedford and John Kimbley of Springville.
His parents preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death is a brother, Terry Lee Stout, a grand baby, and beloved dogs, Jackson, Sadie Rose, and Spanky.
Marvin married Phyllis Canada on October 31, 1975, and she survives, along with sons Toby Wayne Stout (Nicole), Cory Tyler Stout (Courtney), and Petey, also grandsons, Braxton Wayne Stout, and Jacob Charles Stout, and a long-time family friend Phyllis Runyon.
Marvin is a member of the New Union Christian Church, where he served as deacon and cemetery caretaker. He retired from Manchester Tank after 35 years of service. He owned and operated Stout’s Wrought Iron in which he took much pride in.
Visitation for Marvin will be Monday, October 4th at the Day & Carter Mortuary from Noon until the hour of service. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00pm on Monday, October 4th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Tom Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in the New Union Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Toby Stout, Tyler Stout, Braxton Stout, Jacob Stout, David King, and Chuck Chastain.

Olin Darrean Drew Mitchell

Olin Darrean Drew Mitchell, 19, of Springville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born Feb. 18, 2002, in Bedford, to Jena Mitchell Baker.
Darrean graduated from Bedford-North Lawrence High School, class of 2021, and was a former manager of Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant.
Surviving to cherish Darrean’s memory are his adoring mother, Jena (Brian) Baker of Springville; loving father, Brandon (Tiffany) Mounce of Mitchell; sister, Alayla Mitchell of Springville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation for Darrean will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5th, also at Ferguson-Lee Chapel, with Pastor Russell Raney officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Penny Jo Jones

Penny Jo Jones, 68, of Huron, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, at IU Heath Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born August 13, 1953, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Edmund and Margaret (Scott) Mundy. Penny married Dale Eugene Jones, Sr. August 13, 1973 and he survives. She graduated from Mitchell High School.
Penny worked for M. Fine & Sons Corporation for twelve years and Fayetastic Pizza for five years. Penny was an amazing woman that had a heart of gold, a love for God, and love her family. She enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching humming birds, spending time with her family, and she loved angels. Penny was a mother to four children, but she helped to raise many children and some adults.
Survivors include sons, Shawn Mundy, Dale (Shara) Jones, Jr., and Zesus Jones. Two daughters, Misty Jones and Stacy (Curtis) Thomas. Grandchildren, Braxton Jones, Brittany (Jordan) Tomson, James Tomson, Axcel Baker, Jessyca Thomas, and Christopher Thomas. Two great grandchildren, Oliver and Thea Wigley. Brothers, Randy Mundy, Donald Mundy, Troy (Rhonda) Mundy, and one sister, Angie (Jack) Triplett. Penny is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Timmy, and son-in-law Brandon Baker.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 1, 2021, at Port Williams Cemetery.

Malcolm Jerone Middleton

Malcolm Jerone Middleton, 71, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Mitchell Manor.
Born September 15, 1950, in Bedford, he was the son of Lloyd and Rose Ella (King) Middleton. He married Janet Gyger January 4, 1974, and she preceded him in death November 25, 2014.
Malcolm retired from Hall Brothers Trucking and was a graduate of Mitchell High School. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and several country cemeteries. Malcolm liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed the family cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He was a member of the Huron Church of God.
Surviving are his children, Michael (Kim) Middleton of Orleans, John Middleton of Mitchell, Cheryl Middleton of Bedford, Jessica (John) Hattabaugh of Mitchell; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Paul (Dayle) Middleton of Nebraska, Rhonda Baugh of Mitchell, Kevin Middleton of Bedford, Gregory (Betsy) Middleton of Springville.
His parents and sister, Denise Sergent, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be in Port William Cemetery at a later date.

Kaleb Dean Bierbaum

Kaleb Dean Bierbaum, 23, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at his residence.
Born August 29, 1998, in Bloomington, he was the son of Dean Bierbaum and Kara Kristine (Webb) Bierbaum.
He was a wastewater treatment operator at USG Gypsum. Kaleb graduated from Stone City Christian Academy in 2016 and was of the Christian faith. He loved to hunt, and enjoyed drag racing, and tractor pulling. Kaleb was very mechanical and enjoyed working on things.
Surviving are his son, Edward Wendell Dean Bierbaum of Mitchell; parents, Dean Bierbaum of Bedford, Kara Kristine Bierbaum of Mitchell; brother, Grant Leon Bierbaum of Bedford; maternal grandparents, Deborah Webb of Mitchell, Ronald Swafford of North Vernon; paternal grandmother, Jane Bierbaum of Bedford; great-maternal grandmother, Darlene Swafford of North Vernon; great-paternal grandmother, Anna Mary Mathews of Bedford; aunts, uncles, and several cousins.
His grandfather, Robert Bierbaum, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Burial will be in Tunnelton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lisa Marie Baker

Lisa Marie Baker age 41 of Williams passed away on September 26, 2021 at 5:13 Pm at IU Health in Bedford.
She was born in Bedford on February 7, 1980 to Carl Wayne and Teresa Elaine Baker.
Survivors include her husband, Chad Lee Holmes; parents, Carl Wayne and Teresa Baker; three brothers, Isaac Wayne Baker, Matthew W. McElveen and Robert Mitchum; grandmother, Lillian Wright; father-in-law, Richard Lee Holmes; several aunts, uncles and cousins; her music family, Scott Bender, Wayne Holmes, Sarah and Ann Luvienski of Euhoria, the Band and her friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Barbara L. Collins, step grandfather, William (Bill) Estes and mother-in-law; Paula Sue Holmes.
She was a talented singer and will be greatly missed. Cremation was chosen with a celebration of her life at a later date.

James “Jim” David Harris

James “Jim” David Harris, of Mitchell passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on the early morning of September 29, 2021 at IU Health of Bedford. He was 72 years old.
Jim entered this life on August 13, 1949, in Sparksville, Indiana. He was the son of John Harris and Lola (Wheeler) Sanders.
He was a loving father and Papaw to his family. Jim was an avid fisherman, and hunter. Jim loved the outdoors just as much as he loved spending time with his family. He was a Cemetery Caretaker for the Elwood City Cemetery. Jim retired after 20 years of caring for grounds of the cemetery.
Jim survivors include his children, Dawn Dauenhauer, Shawn Harris and his wife Jennifer, Shanna Harris, Shane Harris and Brannon Harris, a sister Iva Higgs and her husband Charles, eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather Leon Sanders, four brothers, Larry Harris, Mack Harris, John Harris, Jack Harris, and a sister Evelyn Harris.
As per Jim’s wishes, he will be cremated, with a memorial service to be scheduled for a later date to be announced on www.hagueandzabel.com
