Arrangements are pending at Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford June 29, 2017 Edward H. Baldwin Jan. 22, 1936 — June 27, 2017 Edward H. Baldwin, 81, of Bedford, died at 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at his residence. Born Jan. 22, 1936, in Heltonville, he was the son of James and Hester (Murphy) Baldwin. He married Sharon Fox in 1958 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 2010. He was a pipefitter for Triangle & Leahy and Harrell Mechanical. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, attended the Hillcrest Christian Church and was a member of the Pipefitter’s Union Local No. 136. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Edwards and husband Charles of Florida and Teresa Short and husband Don of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Jason, Joshua and Jacob Fish, Crystin LeFew, Brandon and Brady Short and Brandy Marsh; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jim Baldwin of Bedford and Mike Baldwin of Jamestown, N.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; and a brother, Richard Baldwin. Born Oct. 10, 1930, in Bedford, he was the son of Wayne and Lura (Nicholson) Turpin. Survivors include his former wife, Mary Ruth Turpin; two daughters, Vicki Louden and husband Brian of Houston, Texas, and Gerri DeLisle and husband Mark of Bloomington; six grandchildren and his sister, Wanda Ritchison of Indianapolis. His parents; three brothers, Harvey Turpin, Bobby Turpin and Junior Turpin; and one sister, Betty Maxine Turpin, preceded him in death. William Lee Tritle June 11, 1932 — June 27, 2017 William Lee Tritle, 85, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017. Born June 11, 1932, in Bromer and raised in Leipsic, he was the son of Earl Franklin and Bess Caroline (McCoy) Tritle. He married Jowana “Jo” Kinser Feb. 14, 1959, and she preceded him in death Oct. 9, 2009. Bill retired from Carpenter Body Works. He was a member of the Mitchell First Church of God, Orleans Masonic Lodge No. 153 F&AM, and the Orleans High School Class of 1950. Bill loved fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his children, Traci L. Tritle of Mitchell and Bill Tritle of Spencer; granddaughters, Terra Tritle and Amber Williams; and his special friend, Colleen Arnold of Mitchell. (McClain) Stewart, 92, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Garden Villa, Bedford. Born Aug. 29, 1924, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Reeve C. and Enid (Sowders) McClain. She married Doyle E. “Dean” Stewart on Nov. 29, 1946; he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1988. She was a graduate of Bedford High School. Martha worked at RCA, Bloomington, for 10 years, and was a homemaker. She attended First Church of the Nazarene and the Davis Memorial Church of Nazarene. Surviving is one daughter, Linda Stewart, of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, John David Stewart in 1953; and one brother, Max McClain. Born Sept. 20, 1947, in Bedford, he was the son of Harold and Virginia Rose (Faris) Bennett. Jo was a nurse and retired from Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. He graduated from Tunnelton High School in 1965 and received a B.A. degree from the University of Evansville. Jo was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1925. Survivors include his daughter, Stacie Ann Bennett of Ellettsville; son, Bryce (Marci) Bennett of Bedford; grandchildren, Randy Creech, Adam Creech, Aaron Creech, Brynlea Bennett and Kaedyn Bennett; and great-granddaughter, Alia Creech. His parents; wife, Vickie; and siblings, Ann Bennett and James Eric Bennett, preceded him in death. Cremation was chosen. Connie was born in Tolono, Ill., on Feb. 6, 1946, the daughter of Edward Wayne and Gladys Mae (Libka) Johnson, and was a graduate of Urbana High School in Urbana, Ill.. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Grace Tabernacle in Orleans. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Norman L. Phillips of Mitchell; a daughter, Carrie B. Augusta (husband, Michael L.) of Bainbridge; a son, Curtis L. Phillips of Bloomington; two brothers, Gene Johnson, (wife, Barb), Clermont, Fla., and Jim Johnson, (wife, Beverly), Urbana, Ill.; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Nolan Augusta, both of Bainbridge; and several nieces and nephews. Kendall March 9, 1947 — June 21, 2017 The Rev. Richard E. Kendall, 70, of Bedford, died at 6:49 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born March 9, 1947, in Glacia, Ill., he was the son of Ira and Vila Belle (Fortune) Kendall. He married Myra (Eggers) Butler on March 2, 1984, and she survives. He was a retired minister and carpenter and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Indian Creek Township. He was raised in Gospel Assembly Churches and ministered a small congregation of the church in Bedford. He had ministered in all 50 states and all over the world including Siberia, Russia, Haiti, Africa, Israel and Canada. Survivors include his wife, Myra of Bedford; a son, Chris Butler and Kelly Thompson of Bedford; a daughter, Tess Butler of Oolitic; a grandson, Andrew Butler of Bedford; his mother-in-law, Martha M. Craig of Bedford; four sisters, Virginia Downs and husband Larry, Elizabeth Zaranti and husband Anthony, Cynthia Jann and husband Chris and Linda Kendall; two brothers, Timothy Kendall and wife Susan and Leslie Kendall and wife Jennifer; and several nieces and nephews. James was a long time employee at Sipes Body Shop and was a member of Fishing Creek Chapel. He served in the Indiana National Guard and enjoyed camping with his family. June 24, 2017 Isis Josephine (Williams) Carpenter July 29, 1926 — June 23, 2017 Isis Josephine Carpenter was born on July 29, 1926, to her parents Iva Miller and Herschel Williams in Bedford. She died on June 23, 2017, at 11:35 a.m. at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford. Josephine enjoyed her life, wherever she was and whomever she was with. She loved being surrounded by family and friends where she shared her unconditional love for everyone. Through her three children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren she best expressed her love of family. During her life she lived in Indianapolis, Florida and Rochester, Indiana. After the death of her second husband, she came “home” to Bedford. Once back in Bedford, she built and decorated a home that reflected her taste and love of the color blue. Josephine loved traveling the United States and the world, often with Iva Baker. She loved the western states, Alaska and Hawaii. She never stopped reminding her family how much she enjoyed Egypt, Holland, India and Nepal. Josephine enjoyed exploring the beauty and complexity of other cultures. Josephine would describe her most important roles as being a mother and grandma. She loved and nurtured her children and grandchildren. Her example of love, integrity and compassion made all of them a better people. And wow, could she cook! Any pitch-in prepared by her, her sisters and aunts could not be missed. Many family members treasure her homemade ceramics. Not always! Her three kids and the five kids of her sister Frances had to survive two-day road trips between Indianapolis and Virginia. Josephine and Frances would stop at every ceramic shop on Highway 40 in Ohio! Whew, but the kids did have great stories as a result. Survivors include three children, Mary Jo Castle, Karen Cunningham and Lew (Terry) Mumford, all of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Erin (Daniel) Castle-Altom, Erica Cunningham, Ellis Mumford Russell (Jeff), Kyle Mumford Ham (Adam Meehan), Jesse Mumford Heide (Greg) and Brook Mumford (Nana Efua), great-grandchildren, Jeannette Mumford, Elizabeth Mumford, Shay Meehan and Liam Ham; and sisters, Frances Pfister and Linda Bishop. She was preceded in death by her parents, Iva and Herschel Williams; husband, Rufus Mumford; husband, Ira "Wally" Carpenter; sister, Roberta Bennett; and brother, James Williams. June 23, 2017 Christina M. “Chris” (Reynolds) Miller Jan. 15, 1941 — June 21, 2017 Christina M. “Chris” Miller, 76, of Springville, died at 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at StoneBridge Health Campus. Born Jan. 15, 1941, in Springville, she was the daughter of Raymond and Esther (Davis) Reynolds. She married Ron Miller on Aug. 24, 1957, and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2014. She retired as a quality controller for Cook Medical Group. She was a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church where she served on the hostess committee and was the former treasurer. Survivors include two daughters, Leslie Holtsclaw and husband David and Lisa Combs and husband Charles all of Springville; grandchildren, Stephanie Colclasure and husband Ryan of Terre Haute, Jennifer Holtsclaw of Spencer, Kim Hillenburg and husband Ryan of Springville and Nick Combs of Springville; great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Zak Colclasure, and Austin and Zane Hillenburg; a brother, Layne Reynolds and wife Julia of Springville; and a sister, Connie Jackson and husband Steve of Ellettsville. He was a life-long truck driver and owner/operator of Brewer Trucking. He was last employed by Indiana Limestone. Born Feb. 13, 1927, in Marion County, she was the daughter of Bryan and Vera (Morgan) Downham. She married the love of her life Allan Dale Clines on Jan. 19, 1945, and he survives. She had attended Highland High School and was of the Baptist Faith. She had worked at Nicholson File, in Anderson; and Coca-Cola Bottling, Bedford, NWSC Crane, was a self-employed upholsterer, and a park ranger, in Ironton, Ohio. Surviving are her husband, Allan Clines; her children, Priscella Kay (Dennis) Sproles and William Allan “Bill” (Pamela) Clines; grandchildren Bryan A. (Karen) Clines, Tony (Christy) Sproles, William Adam (Julie) Clines and Ashtan (Jason) Bean; great-grandchildren Danielle Clines, Jaylyn Sproles, Gracie Sproles, Josie Young-Clines, Kaylee Bean and Kristian Bean; brothers, Willard and Bob; sisters Lois, Cleda, Mary and Evelyn; and several nieces and nephews. Victoria Lorene Kidwell Aug. 25, 1990 — June 17, 2017 Victoria Lorene Kidwell, 26, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at her residence. Born August 25, 1990, in Greene County, she was the daughter of Jack Freddy Lewis and Christina Joy Duckworth. Victoria attended Grace Way Community Church in Bloomington. She was an assistant to the Dean of students of the School of Arts and Science at Indiana University and was a freelance photographer. Surviving relatives include her parents, Robert and Christina Friede and Jack Lewis; siblings, Nicole Berry, Jacob Friede, Bobby Friede, Steven Hubbard, Brandon Hubbard, Dale Mitchell and Sara Mitchell; grandparents, Kathy and Melvin Duckworth and Victoria and Bill Russell; and several nieces and nephews. He retired as a paver with the Lawrence County Highway Department. Survivors include his faithful and loyal companion, Jackie, whom he adored; a sister, Mary Ruth Loving of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as many good friends and neighbors. He was born on Oct. 6, 1955, to Roscoe and Mary (Bickel) Geyer. He was a 1973 Graduate of Mitchell High School and was a Missionary. He was preceded in death by his parents. Smith, 63, of Springville, died at 2:52 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at his residence. Born March 9, 1954, in Malvern, Ark., he was the son of Robert John and Rosemarie (Medina) Smith. He married Tracey Cobb and she survives. He retired in 2008 after 33 years as a truck driver for General Motors. He was a member of U.A.W. Local No. 440. Russell Paul Roberts, 86, of Bedford, slipped quietly and peacefully away at home on Sunday morning, June 18, 2017, Father’s Day with his loving family at his bedside.

Born January 31, 1931, in Greene County, he was the son of Nellie Roberts Taylor. He married Reva Joyce Miller on July 15, 1950, and she survives.

Over the years, he worked as a mechanic on heavy equipment with Triangle Construction until they closed. Afterwards, he worked at Newco Metals Processing (RSI) where he retired in 2011. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 841.

He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and Heavy Equipment schooling in Chicago.

He had a fun-loving personality and never met a stranger. He was of Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie; grandmother, Epsie Roberts; and his father-in-law, Charles (Dad) Miller, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his wife, (Reva) Joyce; and his five children, Russell II (Mary) of Missouri, Rose-Mary Chapman (Mike) of Williams, Sherry Cobb (Kyle) of Tennessee, Rita King (Norman) of Bedford and Ricky Roberts (Natalie) of Bedford. He was blessed with several grandchildren and one special one he called his ‘baby,’ Joyce Ann (King) Roberts (daughter of Rita and Norman King). He is also survived by his siblings, Judy White of Cannelburg, David Taylor and Don Taylor of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford, with funeral service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Sister Becky Ryan will officiate and sing a special song she shared with Russell.

Fellowship and food for family and friends will be held at Cresthaven in the Fellowship room during visitation, before the funeral and after graveside services.

Burial will be at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Survivors include four generations of nieces and nephews.

Davidson, of Fishers, passed away on Sunday evening, June 11, in Indianapolis. She was 88. She is survived by her sons, Mark and Scott; her two daughters-in-law; and three grandchildren. Nancy was the widow of Dr. Ernest W. Davidson. They lived in Bedford for 44 years, where she served on the staff of the public library for more than 32 years. Frederick Lee ‘Fred’ Ellison Nov. 5, 1936 — May 18, 2017 Frederick Lee “Fred” Ellison, 80, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2017, in his daughter’s home surrounded by his loved ones in Goodyear, Ariz. Fred was born in Nov. 5, 1936, in Bedford, to William and Edith Ellison. He graduated from Shawswick High School in 1954 where he participated in several sports and activities including cross country, marching band, 4-H club and agriculture. In 1955, he married Annabelle Padgett Ellison and shortly thereafter moved to Phoenix, Ariz. They raised two beautiful daughters while maintaining a career as a Teamster union member. Fred was an elite truck driver and went on to be the Teamster General Foreman at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. Fred was a devoted husband and father and was actively involved in several passions. He was a member of the Phoenix Jaycees, donated time to the Big Brothers program, Veteran Memorial of Phoenix and the Institute for the Blind Youth. Fred thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, working on motors and running construction side jobs. Known for his beautiful blue eyes, Fred was always eager to tell another joke. Fred is survived by his two daughters, Kathy Baker (Harold) of Crossville, Tenn., and Yvonne Basl (Jack) of Goodyear, Ariz.; and his second wife Shirley Ellison of Bedford. He is also survived by grandchildren, Melissa Baker, Rob Iler, Rachelle Phen and Jaclynn Basl; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Kyle, Taylor, Ashley and Tatum; and brother, Richard Ellison (Barbara) of Bedford. She was spunky, and was known to speak her mind. She loved her family, and showed repeatedly that she would do anything for them. Until it became too difficult, there was not a game that she would miss whether in the heat of the day or an all-nighter softball tournament. She ran the roads constantly to visit or lend a helping hand to family members all over. Bingo was her favorite thing, and she always had a story of a near miss. Lucy lived, worked, and raised her family in Campbellsburg. She worked for BF Goodrich for over 25 years, and later retired from Greene County General Hospital. Robbins, 79, Paoli, peacefully ended his earthly journey on June 8, 2017, at Paoli Health and Living Community. He was born Aug. 2, 1937 in French Lick. After graduating from Paoli High School, Fred joined the U.S. Air Force. He took great pride in serving his country, and remarked several times that he would do it all over again. His tours of duty included Germany and Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force as Tech. Sergeant after serving 20 years. He attended Northwood University where he received the honor of class valedictorian. He then began working at Farm Bureau Co-Op in Orleans where he was Co-Op Manager. After retiring, Fred enjoyed carpentry, yard work and volunteering at IU Health Paoli Hospital and at Throop Elementary where he would read books to students. Fred W.
