Evelyn Marie Myler, 73, of Springville, formerly of Paoli, passed away Friday at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford, Indiana.
She was born on May 30, 1939 to Addie “Smith” Hargis and Oakley Hargis.
She married Bryan Leroy Myler on Nov. 11, 1960, and he preceded her in death.
Evelyn worked as a sewing machine operator at The Shoe Factory in Paoli.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son Roy Lee Myler.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy Bryan Myler of Paoli; a daughter, Shirley Myler Gressel of Springville; a sister, Geneva Shelton Monterey of Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Jarrett, Jeremy and Jessy Myler, all of Paoli.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Ames Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home.

Michael Russell Pridemore, 69, Greencastle, formerly of Mitchell, died Thursday at his residence.

Jeff S. Scherschel, 46, of Bedford, died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident at 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
Born Dec. 8, 1965, in Bedford, he was the son of Phil C. and Sara C. (Towns) Scherschel.
He was a mechanical engineer with NWSC Crane.
He was a graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School with the Class of 1984 and a graduate of Purdue University with the Class of 1989. He was a member of the Purdue Alumni Association.
Survivors include his parents, Phil and Sara; Amie Scherschel, mother of his children, Jakab T. Scherschel, Tylor C. Scherschel, Harleyquin F. Scherschel and Zoee A. Scherschel, all of Bedford; his first grandchild, Gunnyr Ray Blackwell, the son of Harley Scherschel and Garrett Blackwell, who is expected in August; his companion, Patty Gilliatt and daughter Alyssa of Bedford; two sisters, Vonda Stevens and husband Ken and Andrea Hardwick and husband Jerry of Bedford; one brother, Eric Scherschel and wife Wendy of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with Pastor Jeff Nikirk officiating. Burial will follow.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

James N. Dausch
Jan. 16, 1941 — June 27, 2012
James N. “Jim” Dausch, 71, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday with his loving family at his side. He was born in Indianapolis on Jan. 16, 1941, the son of Carl and Viola (Lawson) Dausch Sr., and attended Morgantown High School, having grown up in the Brown County area.
He and his wife owned and operated the former Zephyr Service Station on S. Walnut St. and J&S Pro Station at Beck’s Crossing in Bloomington for many years. He also owned J&S Sandblasting south of Bloomington.
Next to his love of family, Jim lived and loved to fish, especially for catfish.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Sue Dausch of Bedford; his children, Deborah (husband Kerry) Latham of McCalla, Ala., James A. Dausch of Pell City, Ala., Cynthia (husband Steve) Latham of Bessemer, Ala., and Wesley Dausch of Bloomington, his stepchildren, Faron (wife Alison) Burns of Bloomington and Susan Annette Burns; one sister, Gloria Kent of Brown County; and one brother, Carl W. (wife Kay) Dausch Jr. of Martinsville, 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one stepson, Wesley Scott Burns.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37 in Bloomington with Brother Tom White officiating. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery.

Vernie Albert Terrell, 66, of Bedford, went to be with his Lord at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday at his residence.
Born August 6, 1945, in Bedford, he was the son of Erie Gobel and Knoxie Lee (Hughes) Terrell. He married Sheila Spinks on Dec. 6, 1973, and she survives.
He was a graduate of Oolitic High School with the Class of 1963.
He was a self-employed stone mason and a faithful member of Englewood Baptist Church, Bedford, since 1987, where he was a Trustee and Usher. Vernie was a stonemason by trade but a true craftsman as well.
He was a loving husband and father and a good provider. He loved all his family and didn’t meet a stranger; he wanted everybody right with the Lord.
Surviving are his wife, Sheila Ann Terrell of Bedford; one son, Christopher (Ronnetta) Terrell of Bedford; three grandchildren, Carrie, Kirsten and Spencer Terrell; six sisters, Helen Deckard, Geraldine (Ray) Gains, Sharon (Kenneth) Ratliff, Marcia Canada Connie Murphy and Rita Henderson, all of Bedford; one brother, Gary (Nancy) Terrell, Bedford; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and two brothers-in-law, Rick (Bonnie) Spinks and Jack (Brandi) Lee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Catherine Walls; and one brother, Wilbert Terrell.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will be in Dive Cemetery.

Jonathon Douglas “Doug” Peyton, 66 of Heltonville, died Tuesday while working on his farm.
Born Sept. 5, 1945, in Bedford, he was the son of Johnny and Lorene (Franklin) Peyton. He married Cheryl Gardner on April 3, 1964, and she survives.
He retired from General Motors after 45 years in various positions in diecast.
He was a member of the Community Baptist Fellowship, U.A.W. Local No. 440, Norman Conservation Gun Club and a life-time member of the NRA.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl of Heltonville; a son, Chris Peyton and wife Tina of Heltonville; two grandchildren, Britta and Brandon Stiles; four great-grandchildren, Coleson, Case, Caylee and Braxton; and one brother, Charles Peyton of St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lovetta Russell.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Community Baptist Fellowship with Pastor Eric Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Mundell Christian Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10 a.m. until the service on Friday at the Community Baptist Fellowship.

David Russell Arnold, 71, Mitchell, passed away at 2:29 p.m. Tuesday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born Sept. 11, 1940 in Mitchell, he was the son of Russell and Zimro (Price) Arnold. He married Rosetta Payton July 8, 1961.
He was a delivery route salesman and had been employed at 7-Up Bottling Company and Thompson Dairy. He attended the Mitchell Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are his wife, Rosetta Arnold of Mitchell; daughter, Terry Louise Arnold of Indianapolis; sons, David Brian Arnold of Hardinsburg and Robert Lee Arnold of Greensburg; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Arnold of Mitchell, and sisters, Janice Kimble of Mitchell and Sue Griffin of Bedford
His parents; and brothers, Bill Arnold and Robert Arnold, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. July 1 in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with the Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Sue T. Reeder
Sept. 23, 1936 — June 25, 2012
Sue T. Reeder, beloved wife and mother, passed away at home on June 25, 2012.
She was born Sept. 23, 1936, in Bedford, the daughter of Lee Paul and Ruby (Smith) Tomlinson.
She graduated from Williams High School and married Charles D. Reeder in 1955.
After devoting herself to raising her three children, she pursued an accounting degree, graduating from Butler University in 1977. She was employed at National Decorator’s Supply as Controller until retiring in 2000.
She was a long-time member of All Souls Unitarian Church.
She treasured the family vacations with their children and later the many back roads trips with Charlie in the red Miata. She was an avid reader, especially of history and biography, and was a skilled seamstress, who passed her skills onto her daughters. She was always happiest when surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Charles D. Reeder; children, Mark Reeder (Sarah Burton), Mary Reeder (Jay Hancock), and Martha Reeder (Joe Myers); grandchildren, Seth Winter (Sally Phillips Winter), Timothy Winter, Jason Winter, Charlotte Hancock, and Catherine Hancock; and brother, Brice Tomlinson.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

M. Edna Richman
Sept. 20, 1921 — June 23, 2012
Mary Edna Richman, 90, lifelong resident of Huron, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Born Sept. 20, 1921, in Huron, she was the daughter of Leonard and Cleo (Bridges) King. She was united in marriage to Robert Richman Nov. 20, 1941, at the Huron Baptist Church, and he preceded her in death Nov. 25, 1987.
In her early life she worked at RCA, Crane, and for 21 years in the superintendent’s office at Mitchell Community Schools.
For many years she was the Huron news correspondent for The Mitchell Tribune, Bedford Times Mail and the Progress Examiner in Orleans. She was widely known as the Huron Historian because of her vast interest and love of the Town of Huron and its history. For more than 70 years, Edna was a member of the Huron Baptist Church and the Huron W.T.K. Club. She was a graduate of Huron High School with the Class of 1939.
She and her late husband owned and operated Edna’s Antiques in Huron. They enjoyed traveling and spent every summer and fall camping in the Great Smoky Mountains. Her hobby was growing unique plants and flowers, and working in her booth at the Gasthof Flea Market.
Edna is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Brown and husband Farrel or Orleans, Karen Hosek of Plainfield and Evelyn “Chippy” Stewart of Huron. She will be remembered by her five grandchildren, Christopher (Molly) Hosek, Alison (Jon) Mace, Stephanie (Jeremy Davis) Stewart, Daniel (Laura) Stewart and Tim (Eileen) Brown; her great-grandchildren, Tori, Thomas, and Troy Mace, Jaxon and Quincey Hosek, Braden Stewart, Kayle and Rob Brammer and Erin and Erica Brown; and many loving cousins and wonderful friends
Her parents and husband of 46 years preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Huron Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Allender, the Rev. Larry Williams, and the Rev. Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery.

Marnice Kay Fender Prince, 61, of Bedford, died at 5:24 p.m. Monday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born May 21, 1951, she was the daughter of Charles Randall Fender and Bernice (Meadows) Fender. She married Roger Prince on June 4, 2005, and he survives.
She was in food service at Indiana University, Bloomington, and later worked for Indiana Home Health; she and her husband also delivered for the Times-Mail.
She was of the Pentecost Faith and loved to garden and can.
Surviving are her daughter, Stephanie Fender and her companion Mark Perry of Spencer; her husband, Roger Prince of Bedford; three brothers, Charles “Chub” (Carol) Fender of Bedford, and Jackie (Wanda) Fender and Rex Allen Fender, both of Heltonville; five stepchildren, Marylee Atterberry of Avoca, Sandy Hazelip of Tell City, Susan Deckard of Worthington and Brian and Brent Prince, both of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ladona May Fender; and one brother, Carl Fender.

William E. “Peewee” DeFord, 67, of 1106 ‘T’ Street, Bedford, died at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at IU Health in Indianapolis.
Born July 28, 1944, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Max and Betty Alice (Wright) DeFord.
He retired from Reynolds and was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Eric DeFord and wife Kathy of Indianapolis and Billy E. DeFord of Athens, Ohio; a daughter, Stephanie Williams and husband Buddy of South Bend; a sister, Diana P. Meadows of Bedford; and five grandchildren, Cody and Samantha Chastain, Ross, Dylan and Alec DeFord.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard L. Wright, L. Danny and Joseph S. DeFord.

Chloe E. Walker, 83 of Franklin, formerly of Bedford, died at 6:12 a.m. Saturday at Homeview Nursing Home in Franklin.
Born March 13, 1929, in Fort Ritner, Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Fred and Mattie Beavers. She married Sharron Lee Walker on June 29, 1950, and he survives.
She was of the Lutheran faith and was confirmed into the Medora Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Nov. 1947; she graduated from Vallonia High School; she was a registered nurse and held a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
Chloe was active in 4-H and had raised a calf and helped on the family farm; she was good at growing flowers and vegetables.
Surviving are her husband, Sharron Walker of Franklin; two sons, David (Debbie) Walker, Seattle, Wash., and Eric (Jennifer) Walker of Indianapolis; one daughter, Sheila McGregor of Franklin; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Jennifer, Katie, Josh and Stacy; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Silas, Junior and Riley; and six sisters, Pearl Wright, Medora, Mildred Petra, Indianapolis, Frances Dalton, Fort Ritner, Mary Foster, Seymour, Lulla Wolka, Vallonia and Ruth Silberman of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers, Thurman, Edmond, Curtis, Eugene and Thomas.

Agnes Marie Fish, 85, of 620 W Street, Bedford, died Monday at her residence.
Born March 8, 1927, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Clyde and Elsie (Goad) Wagner. She married Gordon Fish and he survives.
She retired from RCA in Bloomington and was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church and a former member of the C.B. Club.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Gordon; three daughters, Lana Wray and husband Joe, Linda Olson and husband Larry, and Diana Sego and husband Jerry, all of Bedford; one grandson who was raised in the home, Sean Benham of Chicago; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Doris Warren and Helen Reynolds; and three brothers, Clyde Wagner Jr. and wife Porshe, Jack Wagner and wife Linda and Kenneth Wagner and wife Cathy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Harvey Warren and Dale Reynolds; and a grandson, Brian Olson.

Rev. Ralph Campen
Jan. 17, 1959 — June 23, 2012
The Rev. Ralph Campen, 53, of Dewberry, passed away Saturday at his home.
He was born at Dixon, Ill., on Jan. 17, 1959, the son of Eldon and Alicia Teisort Campen. He was married to Susan Barnhardt on May 21, 1983, and she survives. Other survivors include his father, Eldon Campen of Bedford; one son, Jacob Campen and his fiancé Michelle Thomas of Milan; two daughters, Jennifer Campen and Edwina Hinderer, both of Cincinnati; granddaughters, Faith Thomas and Jada Hinderer; and one brother, Gordon (Kathy) Campen of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his son Jason.
Rev. Campen was a 1978 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School. He attended the Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Ft. Wayne and graduated from their seminary in St. Catherine, Ontario, Canada.
He had pastored St. John’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Canada and was currently pastor at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Dewberry where he had served since 2007.
He also was a 1983 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy at Plainfield and had served with the Newton County, Indiana Sheriff’s Department, the Hebron, Indiana Police Department, and was a former Town Marshal for Remington, Indiana.
Ralph was also a former employee of the Hebron, IN Public Works.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dewberry with the Rev. James Rees officiating. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Roselawn Cemetery in Roselawn.

He was retired from Styline Industries in Huntingburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Carol Harris.

Born Aug. 26, 1940, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Ernest W. and Alice (Sego) Fortner. She married Howard Lee Roberts and he preceded her in death.
She was a retired medical office manager with Dr. Kim Scherschel and was a member of Community Baptist Fellowship.
Survivors include one son, Stephen Howard Roberts of Bedford; one brother, Ernest Michael Fortner of Bedford; and two nephews, Michael Shannon Fortner and wife, Donna and Scott Fortner and wife, Jessica all of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Community Baptist Fellowship with Pastor Eric Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery.

Kathy was born in Bedford, the daughter of Albert M. Robbins and Maudie H. Connerley, who preceded her in death, along with brothers, Robert and Art; sisters, Marguerite, Mary Ellen and Geneva.
Survivors include daughters, Lynnea (Ed) Dixon of Gay, Ga., Katie Podeswa of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren, Chris, Lee, Niki, Madelyn and Melyssa; one great-grandchild, Samantha; two brothers, Rick (Debbie) Robbins of Orlando, Fla., and Stephen (Charolette) Robbins, Rantoul, Ill.
Kathy moved to Central Florida in 1980, and was employed in the automobile industry. Her last job before retirement in 2009, was the office manager with Fields Landrover.
She attended Shawswick High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and co-worker, she was loved and respected by everyone.

Connie Mathews, 67, of Bedford, died at 5 a.m. on Tuesday at her residence.
Born July 24, 1944 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Lloyd G. and Mildred Ilene (Tolliver) Davis. She married Ed Nilson on January 20, 1961. She later married Girard (Jerry) Mathews and he survives. She retired as the postmaster at the Tunnelton Post Office. She was a life-time member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsmen’s Club and an avid golfer with three hole in ones. She enjoyed learning to master the 5-string banjo with her instructor, Brian Leaver and spending time at her winter home in Florida.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry of Bedford; a daughter, Kathy Nilson-Brown and husband, Bob of Mooresville; a son, Tyrus (Ty) Mathews and wife, DeeDee of Bedford; grandchildren, Alyssa Gill, Tiffany O’Brien, Jarrid Mathews and fiancée’ Elizabeth Baldwin and Justin Mathews all of Bedford, Andy and Alex Brown of Mooresville; siblings, Lloyd D. Davis and wife, Brenda, Michael J. Davis and wife, Sheila, Louella Webb and husband, Ron all of Bedford; a half-sister, Mary Ann Jenkins and husband, Jim of Bedford; a half-brother, Charles Elkins of Bedford; a sister-in-law, Kristie D. Debbie (Brown) Hawkins, 57, Bedford, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 7:34 p.m. on Friday after a 25-year battle with a brain tumor.
She was born July 5, 1954, to George and Louise (Short) Brown. On Dec. 12, 1971, she married Jerry Hawkins and he survives.
Debbie was a member at Dive Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; two daughters, Missy Brown and husband Stacey, and Mindy Bugh, both of Bedford; four grandchildren, Jordan Snow, and Taylor, Clayton and Dalton Brown; one sister, Becky Taylor and husband Greg of Bedford; one brother, Kevin Brown and wife Ruth of Campbellsburg; stepbrother David L. She was born on Oct. 8, 1926, in Lawrence County, to Richard and Pauline “Lena” (Weinman) Lantz. Mary first married Edward “Butch” Herthel and he preceded her in death in December of 1977. She then married Robert Morgan and he preceded her in death in December of 2011.
She retired as a supervisor from Indiana Bell in 1989.
Mary was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and the Pioneer Telephone Club.
She is survived by three nieces, Sally Bullock and husband Jim of Oolitic, Sherry Underwood of Bedford and Judy Kennedy of Corydon; five great-nephews, Jim Underwood and wife Debbie of Springville, John Underwood of Bedford, Mike Bullock and wife Denise of Brownsburg, Mark Bullock and wife Rita of Brownsburg and Kevin Bullock and wife Kathleen of Oolitic; and three great-nieces, Judy Underwood of Indianapolis, Jane Root and husband Larry of Mitchell and JoAnn Underwood of Bedford; and one daughter-in-law Joann Herthel of Indianapolis.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one half-sister, Minnie Drehobl; and a son, Charles Herthel.

She retired from Ford-Visteon after 18 years.
Mary Jane was a member for over 40 years at Faith Mission Church. She was a loving wife and mother.

Born July 27, 1935, in Sparksville, he was the son of Hovey and Florence (Foster) Huffman.
Mr. Huffman served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He was retired from Crane Naval Base after several years of service as a technician.
He was a graduate of Medora High School.
His is survived by his brother, William Huffman; and sisters, Jean Akers, Marybelle Ferris and Nellie Teschner; sister-in-law Mildred Huffman; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles Huffman.

Shirley was born Aug. 10, 1938, in Monroe County and was the daughter of Otis and Flora (Wilson) Deckard.
Shirley was a member of Paynetown Pentecostal Church and had worked at Sarkes-Tarzian, RCA, Q.T. Tool and was an independent distributor for Home Interior for over 15 years. She had also worked at Kroger West in Bloomington and Victory Beauty Supply.
Shirley enjoyed shopping, eating out, gardening and flowers and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dwight Dennis Eads of Heltonville; two daughters, Teresa Stewart (Earl) of Heltonville and Vickie Frisbie (Robert) of Owensburg; son, Dennis Eads (Wendy) of Ft. Myers, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great- grandchildren, one sister, Sandra Sue Burch (Jack) of Solsberry; and three brothers James Deckard (Margaret) of Brazil, Joe Deckard (Telena) of Bloomington and Jerry Deckard of Solsberry.

Cleo G. Prince, 87, of Heltonville, passed away Thursday, at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on April 11, 1925, in Heltonville, Indiana, the daughter of Clifford and Eva (Deckard) Sipes.
Cleo married Ernest Lee Prince on July 31, 1942, and they had three children. She had worked at Sarkes Tarzian for several years and then for the U.S. Forest Service (Hardin Ridge Recreation Area). Cleo adored her children and grandchildren.
Cleo is survived by her companion, Ted Wray; three children, Garry Prince (Sue), Leon Prince (Vivian Corbin) and Beverly Martin; seven grandchildren, Robin Martin (Lisha), Tammy Miller (Bruce), Kevin Prince (Mary), Toby Prince (Sherri), Kelly Parsley (Jeff), Shelly King (Jeff) and Kyle Prince (Stacy); 12 great-grandchildren, Kasey Martin, Tyler King (Allie Quimby), Courtney Carter, Baylee Isom, Drew Miller, Cameron Prince, Ashley Martin, Collin Prince, Parris Isom, Tanner Carter, Sophie Miller and Shelby Prince; two step-grandchildren, Missy Arter and VaDonna Combs; and three step-great-grandchildren, Adam Parsley, Haylee Tatlock and Brylie Combs.

Marguerite was united in marriage to Kenneth Bayard Stevens on November 28, 1942, in Lexington, KY. She was the owner and operator of the Bedford Beauty Shop for 66 years, retiring in 1997.
She was preceded in death by her husband; both parents; and her siblings, Curtis New, Mildred L. Hardin, Opal Reed, Goldie Christy, Ernest New, Elmer New, Gilbert New, Charles New and Dallas New. Albert M. Ross, born in Bedford on Feb. 5, 1925, passed away on May 26 at Windsor Cheviot Hills Nursing Home. He had been a resident of Culver City for over 50 years.
He was a graduate of Bedford High School and had a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and a Master’s from UCLA.
He worked for 28 years for TRW and retired in 1989.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Freeda; and a brother, Jerry of Mitchell.

John Richard Ginger, 89, of Bedford, died at 1:45 p.m. on Monday at White River Lodge in Bedford.
Born Jan. 1, 1923, in Fayette County, Ill., he was the son of Ronnie E. and Eathel (Myers) Ginger.
He graduated from Herrick High School in 1942. He attended James Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., Southern Illinois and Purdue universities.
He joined Herrick Christian Church and was baptized by them in the running water in Kaskaskia River in Illinois in the fall of 1937. John became Deacon and Church Treasurer, and later became Doctor of Biblical Studies and Ordained Minister.
John worked several occupations in life. In Vandalia, Ill., he was an Architectural Assistant in Mechanical Section, City Engineer, Director of Public Works, and City Manager. After retiring, he became a registered Professional Locksmith, and conducted several seminars in Locksmithing.
He was a 67-year member of 32nd Degree Mason; 63-year Noble of Mystic Shrine; and Veteran of World War II. He was also a member of American Legion, Disabled Veterans (D.A.V.), Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R.), Elks, Moose and Rotary Clubs, and Associated Locksmiths of America, Safe and Vaults Technicians.
He married Esther Spangler in Blue Mound Christian Church on Nov. 30, 1963. Of this union no children were born. Esther passed away on Feb. 12, 2007.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Green Hill Cemetery, with burial to follow. There will be no visitation.

Born Dec. 13, 1926, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Herschel and Ruth (Robinson) Nickless. She married Norman E. Smith on June 28, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2010.
She retired from RCA.
She attended Oolitic schools and was a member of Oolitic Methodist Church. Her hobbies were knitting and camping.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Lane and Debra Szemcsak and husband Bob, all of Oolitic; one son, David Smith and wife Jerri of Judah; three sisters, Mary Ford and husband Tim and Patty Roberts, all of Bedford, and Gail Fish and husband Gary of Oolitic; one brother, Jack Nickless and wife Mary; one, sister-in-law, Betty Jo Taflinger; one brother-in-law, Charles “Bud” Jackson; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Bob Nickless; one sister, Maxine Luttrell; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Patrick and Michael Dennis Waldrip, Ryan Smith; and one great-great-grandchild, Weston Smith, at birth.

She was a member of Dive Christian Church.

Edwin “Cap” Craig, 80, of Silverville, died at 9:05 p.m. on Monday at the Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born June 4, 1932, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Forrest and Zona (West) Craig. He married Anna Dee Blake on May 26, 1952, and she survives.
He was a carpenter and school bus driver for the NLCS for about 37 years. He loved draft horses and was an avid farmer and cattle man.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a military policeman stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Dee of Silverville; one daughter, Rowena Hall and son-in-law, Charlie Wilson of Silverville; one great-grandson, Keaton Wilson; five sisters, Norma Terry and husband Bill of Silverville, Viola Waggoner and husband Loren of Silverville, Anah Hall and husband Leonard of Fayetteville, Wanda Craig of Fayetteville, and Doris Conner of Fayetteville; two brothers, Donald Craig of Needmore and Audra (Short) Craig of Silverville; one sister-in-law, Frances Craig of Bedford; one brother-in-law, Cleo Blake of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

Born June 19, 1917, in Swiss City, she was the daughter of Henry Roscoe and Bessie (Hillenburg) Parker. She married Harold Richard Anderson on Dec. 26, 1936, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1978.
She was a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith and her hobbies were gardening, her family and being outdoors.
She attended Springville School.

Maudeline Pennington Pierson, 92, Columbus, formerly of Seymour, passed away at 2:51 a.m. on Tuesday at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born June 9, 1920, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of James and Elva (Watson) Wampler.
On Dec. 19, 1940, in Jeffersonville, she married Robert Pennington who preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1989. She later married Charles H. Pierson at First Baptist Church of Seymour, he also precedes her.
Mrs. Pierson was a member of First Baptist Church, Seymour. She was employed with RCA in Bloomington for 20 years, and worked 14 years with Dr. R. E. Sawyer, an optometrist in Bedford.
Maudeline was a member of the Eastern Star.
Family she leaves behind are her children, Carolyn (Claude) Wright and Stephen (Judy) Pennington; grandchildren, Devin Baker, Noelle (Todd) DeHaven, Melissa (Kels) Conrad, Deanna Pennington Siniard, and Amy Pennington Young; and great-grandchildren, Preston and Paxton DeHaven, Jesse, Shalana, and Dillon Siniard, and Dustin and Ashley Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands; sister, Barbara Berwick; and stepmother, Beatrice Beaver Wampler.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Voss Chapel, with the Rev. Bruce Cochran and the Rev. Larry Tingle officiating. There will be a Voss Dove release after the service.

Donna Jean Helton, 76, of Bedford, died at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born July 25, 1935, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Dennie and Lillian (Thomas) Fields. She married Claude Duane Helton on Aug. 16, 1952, and he preceded her in death.
She retired from GE.
She was extremely devoted to her grandchildren, loved yardwork, cooking for friends and was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Jim Helton of Bedford; four grandchildren, Robin Bex of Bloomington, Jen Bex of Indianapolis, Caci Helton-Beyers and husband Tim of Bedford and Nate Helton of Bedford; one brother, Buddy Fields and wife Ann of Owensburg; one son-in-law, Bob Bex and wife Patty of Bedford; a sister-in-law, Beulah Helton of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

William E. Shirley
March 31, 1927 — June 11, 2012
William E. Shirley, 85, Bedford, died at 2:05 p.m. on Monday at his residence.
Born March 31, 1927, he was the son of William Edmund Shirley Sr. and Josephine E. Shirley.
He graduated from Bedford High School in 1944. He attended Purdue University on a G.I. Bill. He enlisted in the Navy in 1945. He was sent to Portsmouth, N.H., for training and then was deployed to Panama where he was a medic trained to go to Japan. The bomb on Hiro Shima saved his life. He went back to Purdue after the war and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He passed his state boards and became a Register Pharmacist. Mr. Shirley started his Pharmacy career in Danville, Ill., in 1951.
He moved back to Bedford and opened Edgewood Pharmacy. He still helped Mr. Smallwood and Mr. Howard while opening up his own pharmacy. In the late 50’s and early 60’s he opened the Edgewood Clinic and Pharmacy (then and now Bedford Medical Center). Bill sold his business after 25 years.
Appointed by Ed Whitcomb, he was a member and President of the State Board of Pharmacy from 1968-82. He was president for four years. He was also awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Orr. He finished working behind the counter for Hooks on Lincoln Avenue and Super X. He worked for Butler until 2000. Ex students waiting to get (license & graduate). After 52 years he called it quits.
He was a Charter member of Southland Church of Christ from 1958-2012. He was a Deacon for 15 years and an Elder from 1983-2005.
He was a member of the American Legion for 60 years.
Survivors include one son, William Tyree Shirley of Bedford; and two granddaughters, Felicia Lynnae Shirley and Sarah Elizabeth Shirley of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 43 years, Dorothy.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Southland Church of Christ with Brother Pat Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery with Military Rites accorded at the graveside.

Born March 19, 1917, in Bono Township, she was the daughter of Frank and Oma May (Mooney) McIntire. She married Verlin Barnes Jan. 24, 1936, and he preceded her in death March 5, 1997.
She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1934 and was a homemaker.
Ruth was a member of Mitchell First Christian Church, Dorcas Circle, Fleur de Lis, North Hills Eastern Star Chapter No. 526 in Pittsburgh, Pa., and was a charter member of Spring Mill Homemakers.
Surviving are sons, Robert Wayne Barnes of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Kenneth Edward Barnes of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Her parents; husband; daughter, Barbara Ann Albosta; son, William Franklin Barnes; and brothers, Ralph and Ray McIntire preceded her in death.

William Howard Kiefner, 74, of Orleans, died Monday at Hospice House in Bloomington.
He was born July 9, 1937, in Orleans, the son of Clarence Boyd and Anna Louise Wilson Kiefner. He married Una Mae Shaffer Kiefner on Jan. 2, 1960 and she survives.
He was a veteran and retired from the U.S. Air Force.
Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, William Michael Kiefner of California and Steven Boyd Kiefner of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Teresa Lynn Kiefner, also of Albuquerque; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Rex B. Kiefner of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard and David; and a sister, Mary.
Cremation was chosen. There will be no visitation or services.

Born July 29, 1936, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Linza and Dorothy (Weaver) Stewart. She married Grover “D.C.” Yeary on Dec. 13, 1952, in Bedford, and he survives.
She had worked at NWSC Crane for 16 years as an electronic technician and was a homemaker.
Janet was a gifted artist and painted as a hobby. She was also an avid reader.
Surviving are her husband, Grover “D.C.” Yeary of Bedford; one son, Blake (Teresa) Yeary of Leesville; two grandchildren, Heidi Yeary and Brandon Yeary, both of Bedford; and two sisters, Judy (Ralph) Zuttarelli and Linda (John) Brown, both of Bedford.

Born Feb. 12, 1932, she was the daughter of Clayton and Helen (Bartlett) Tow. She married Winfred J. “Wink” Pemberton Aug. 14, 1948, and he preceded her in death March 11, 1992.
She was a homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, playing slot machines at the casinos, and traveling with her late husband, “Wink.” They had visited 47 of our 50 states. She was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 Women’s Auxiliary.
Surviving are sons, Danny (Jonna) Pemberton of Mitchell and Steve Pemberton of Bedford; daughter, Anita (Max) Bird of Mitchell; granddaughters, Lisa Fish and Briana Bird; grandson, Alan Pemberton; three special great-granddaughters, Abby D. Fish, Ally Fish, and Ashlyn R. Pemberton; sister, Sue Steup of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

Born Jan. 26, 1964, in Marion, she was the daughter of William and Carolyn (Sowders) Perry. She married David Smale on Sept. 1, 1984, and he survives.
She was a graduate of Mitchell High School with the class of 1982. She was the co-owner of Tiffany’s Swap Shop in Bedford and had worked at the Breakfast Barn.
She loved music, horses and spending time in the sun.

Sue Ann (Hale) Bough, 66, of Bedford, died at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born Oct. 29, 1945 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Otho “Bud” Hale and Della Mae (Myers) Hale.
She attended Bedford schools until 1961. She was a graduate of Lafayette-Jefferson High School, Lafayette, with the Class of 1963. She graduated from the Bloomington Academy of Cosmetology in 1964. She was a graduate of the Ivy Tech LPN Program in 1982; and then a graduate of the University of New York Nursing Program in 1986.
She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Bedford, past member of Omega Nu Tau Sorority, American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), BRMC Red Hats, and the Hoosier Hills Association of Critical Care Nurses, of which she was past president.
She was employed as a Registered Nurse with the Bedford Regional Medical Center in Bedford for 25 years. She also had worked as a beautician.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Noelle Clouse (Wesley) of Noblesville; son, Sean “Scott” Bough (Amy) of Bedford; grandchildren, Eli Calvin and Emma Grace Clouse of Noblesville, and Makayla Robrecht of Bedford; and aunt, Betty Lou Hale of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger Eugene Hale; paternal grandparents, Bige and Shirley Hale; and maternal grandparents, Oscar and Lizzy Myers.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Steve Hale officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

William Herbert “Herb” Kinder, 88, of Mitchell, passed away at 10:03 a.m. on Wednesday at his residence.
He was born July 8, 1923, in Williams to Thomas & Maude (Stalcup) Kinder. He married Martha Gerhing Kinder in 1943 and she preceded him in death in 1990.
Herb was a veteran of the U.S. Army, member of Midtown Church of Christ in Bedford and a lifetime member of the Spring Mill F.O.P.
He was a retired self-employed businessman.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy (Jerry) Stevens of Mitchell; three grandchildren, Mark (Kelly) Stevens of South Bend, Marti (JayDee) Waggoner of Claremont, Ill., Marci (Ryan) Moutardier of Mitchell; two brothers, Marion Thomas Kinder of Mitchell and Andrew “Andy” Kinder of Bedford; six great-grandchildren, Lauren, Sydney and Grace Stevens of South Bend, Taylor Waggoner of Newburgh, and Bretta and Carson Waggoner of Claremont, Ill.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents,; wife Martha; three sisters, Isabel, Lorene “Toots” Krabbe, and Novella; and three brothers, Harold, France, & Don “Shortie.”

Pamela Mae Embree, 56, of Bedford, died at 12:57 a.m. Wednesday at her residence.
Born Nov. 22, 1955, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Austin Gene and Iris Mae (Jackson) Hubbard.
She married Thomas R. Embree on Sept. 9, 1977, and he survives.
She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the Class of 1974 and received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Vincennes University in 1992; she was a Registered Nurse having worked as an ER Nurse at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for 19 years.
She was a member of the Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene in Bedford.
Surviving are her mother, Iris Mae Hubbard of Bedford; her husband, Thomas R. Embree of Bedford; two daughters, Erica (Kevin) Stenger of Lake Orion, Mich., and Natalie (Paul) Coffman of Charlestown; one son, Ryan (fiance’ Brandi Lemons) Embree of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Charlotte and Leo Stenger; and one brother, Greg (Cheryl) Hubbard of Norman.
She was preceded in death by her father, Austin Gene Hubbard, on April 8, 2012.

Barbara Lou Cox, 81, passed away at her home in Williams on Tuesday.
She was born in Bloomington, to the late Robert H. and Margaret (Patton) Stephenson. Barbara was a city controller for the city of Bloomington for many years before retiring in 1981. She was a volunteer at “God’s Place” food pantry and was an avid square dancer and belonged to the “Good Timers” square dance group.
Barbara is survived by two daughters; Margaret (Harold) Moser and Mickey (Mike) Ellett and one son; Bob (Tracy) Cox. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband William A. Cox and an infant daughter, Mary Jane Cox.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. also in the funeral home.

James H. Anderson, 80, Bedford, died Saturday afternoon at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born April 1, 1932, in Bedford, he was the son of Howard and Zella (Hawkins) Anderson. Jim married Edna Gulbrandsen in December of 1953 and she survives.
Jim was a local realtor and real estate developer. He developed The Woods Subdivision on Highway 37, and Star View Estates in Bedford. He was also involved in the development of the Stone City Mall on 16th Street in Bedford.
Jim graduated from Bedford High School in 1949 and Indiana University in 1953.
Jim was active in local government organizations. He served as a member and president of the North Lawrence School Board, the board of LARC and the Bedford Park Board.
Jim served in the Air Force and was a long-time member of American Legion, the Association for Service of Disabled Veterans and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks No. 826, Bedford, where he served twice as Exalted Ruler.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; three sons, Steve and wife Barbara of Williams Bay, Wis., and Mike and wife Vanessa and Jim and wife Theresa, all of Palo Alto, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Isobel, Lily, Miles, Erik, Makee and Beck.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Zella Anderson; sisters, Gladys Smiley and Thelma (Anderson) Edler; and one nephew, Joseph Edler.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Dailey officiating.

Arthur Robert Eastwood, 91, of Bedford, passed away on Monday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 17, 1920, in Alden, New York, to Arthur W. and Emma (Willard) Eastwood, Art married Evalyn Shaw Eastwood on Dec. 3, 1943, and she survives.
Mr. Eastwood was the office manager for Air Work Corporation and also Wheaton Glass Company,
He was a U.S. Army Air Forces Veteran serving from Sept. 24, 1942, until Nov. 17, 1945. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant. After discharge from the service he lived in Millville, New Jersey for 60 years prior to moving to Bedford in 2006.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bedford, Member of American Legion Post No. 33 Bedford, Member of American Legion Nabb-Leslie Post, He was a member of the American Legion for 66 years. His hobbies included photography, golf, Ham Radio Club, and Millville Army Air Field Museum, Art was a charter member of the museum and spent many hours helping install electrical works and setting up computers. He spent many enjoyable hours at the museum with his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Evalyn Eastwood of Bedford; one son, Arthur Robert Eastwood Jr. (Judy) of Winter Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Linda A. Schoonmaker (William) of Bedford and Wendy E. Armington (Linc) of Millville, N.J.; his grandchildren, Debbie Schoonmaker Tolliver (Matt), Daria Schoonmaker Hall (Cody) Jason Eastwood (Michelle), Ian Eastwood (Nicole), Nick Armington, Matt Armington (Christine), and Ryan Armington; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Mohart, Jean Schneider, and Doris Brade; and two brothers Lester Eastwood and Alan Eastwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Diane at birth; one brother, Willard Eastwood; and one sister, Irene Offhaus.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Cresthaven Funeral Home, with the Rev. Beth Ann Cook officiating. Entombment will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens, with military rites by American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.

Emma Lee Williams, 89, of Mitchell, passed away at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson Christian Village in Bedford.
Born Jan. 7, 1923, in Shoals, she was the daughter of Ora W. and Millie (Sherrill) Shaw. She married Carl Wayne Williams April 11, 1944, and he preceded her in death Aug. 22, 1991.
Emma Lee was a homemaker, member of the First Baptist Church, and a charter member of Woodville Baptist Church.
She enjoyed sitting on her front porch, cooking for others and eating out with friends, travelling, and following the adventures of her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Timothy W. (Mary Wilcoxon) Williams of Mitchell; daughter, Nancy (Don) Caudell of Mitchell; grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Wilcoxon of Santa Cruz, Calif., Matthew W. (Jenny) Caudell of Madison, Miss., and Tyler S. (Laci) Caudell of Bloomington; and great-grandchildren, Natalie Redding, Kalib Redding, Wilson Caudell, Jacob Caudell, Jackson Caudell, Rhaegan Egli Caudell, Lilly Caudell, and Emma Caudell.
Her parents; husband; brothers, Bonnie Lee Shaw, Lawrence Shaw, Leland Shaw, Clair Shaw, and Ora Clay Shaw; and sisters, Violetta Shaw, Fern Duncan, Ruth Mercer, Lettie Belle Little and Ethel Elizabeth “Betty” McCammon, preceded her in death.

Gage Rumsey Lutes, 20, of Bedford died on Friday at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born June 14, 1991, in Bedford, he was the son of Shannon (Haley) and David Cobb and Joseph E. and Stacie Lutes. He married Katelyn Brammer and she survives.
Gage worked for M&F Vending and was a News Director for WBIW radio station.
He was a 2010 graduate of BNL.
Gage was active in the Little Theatre of Bedford, loved radio and his community. He also appeared on the Nancy Grace show as a contributor.

Esther Lawmaster, 91, of Bedford, passed away from this life at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The oldest daughter of John B. and Alma (Mullis) Spinks, she was born in Bloomfield. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1939 and Indiana Business College in Indianapolis.
She worked for the U.S. government in Dayton, Ohio, Baltimore, Md., and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. during WW II. She worked at Citizens National Bank for 30 years as a bookkeeper.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford for 73 years.
During retirement, she was an avid walker, enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking, greeting people on their birthdays.
Preceding her in death are her parents; sisters, Jane Callahan, Anna Gobert; and her brother, Harold Spinks of Florida.
Survivors include sons, Larry Lawmaster (Marti) of Wixom, Mich., and Richard Lawmaster (Kathy) of Bloomington; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Arthur W. “Bill” Brown, 63, of Martinsville, formerly of Bedford, died at 9:05 p.m. on Friday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Sept. 14, 1948, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Arthur C. and Pauline (Kern) Brown. He married Marla Barlow and she survives.
He was retired from the stone industry.
Surviving with his wife are his children, Angie (Ricky) Guinn of Indianapolis, Aaron King of Bloomington, Lori Brown of Huron and Jeff Atchison; grandchildren, Jessica Guinn, Ricky Guinn Jr. and Isaiah King; sisters, Linda Rainey, Becky Sargent, Carol (Bob) Kent, Ronda (Bill) Childress, and Mary Lou Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Larry; and sisters, Cathy and Martha Helen.
There will be no funeral service. Cremation was chosen at his request.

Susan Olson Murray, 61, of Dunnellon, Fla., passed away on May 30 after an unexpected short illness.
She was born in Bedford on Jan. 9, 1951, and was married to William C. Murray in 1969.
She is survived by her loving husband, William “Bill” Murray; and her daughters, Stephanie (Matthew) Price of Dunnellon, Fla., and Michelle Draper of Carlisle, Ohio; as well as her mother, Marilyn Olson of Bedford; and brother, N. Richard “Ric” (Treva) Olson, also from Bedford.
Susan loved her three grandchildren, Connor Price, Logan Michelle Price, and Kennedy Michelle Draper, and was preceded in death by her father, Norman R. Olson, Jr.
She graduated from Bedford High School and attended Louisiana State University Monroe. Most of her career she worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant for Electronic Data Systems and Crittenton Hospital in Rochester, Mich.
Susan was an avid golfer and actively involved in many activities with Rainbow Springs Ladies Golf Association, she recently was Co-Chairperson for the Susan G. Komen Foundation Annual Golf Tournament.
A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon with a Celebration of Life following.

Born April 22, 1952, in Bedford, he was the son of James Thomas and Betty Lou (McGinness) Byrd.
He was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church. He went to the LARC Center daily and was surrounded by many friends. He also worked at the Times-Mail and D&D Quick Stop.
Surviving are his three sisters, Mary Simmons, Barbara Medlock, Regina Walls, all of Bedford; four brothers, Tom and Charles Byrd of Williams, and Troy and Jerry Byrd of Bedford; two half brothers, Gary and Richard; four half sisters, Doris, Judy, Linda, Beth; also his family at the Elliott House where he had lived for the past 19 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Vicki Byrd; stepmother, Loberta Byrd.

Charlene Hawk, 93, of Orleans, died Saturday at Mitchell Manor Health Care in Mitchell.
Mrs. Hawk was born March 13, 1919, in Mitchell, the daughter of Danner Reed and Minnie Wood Brooks. She married Lester A. “Pete” Hawk and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1998.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Mitchell congregation of the Jehovah Witnesses.
She is survived by her son, Danner L. Hawk of Orleans; and her daughter, LoDema Hawk-Matteson of Bloomington; there are three sisters, Mary Rosenberger of Bedford, Carmina Tuksal of Detroit, Mich., and Betty Tanksley of Mitchell; and one grandson, Victor Matteson of Fishers.
She was preceded by her husband; one son, Richard Hawk; and four brothers.

Eva F. (Gould) Silvers, 82, passed from this life to her eternal rest at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital on Thursday.
She was born in Bedford, the daughter of Elza & Mary (Spall) Tidd. She married John William Gould on Dec. 28, 1946, who preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2001. She then married Earl Thomas Silvers on Nov. 15, 2008, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2011.
She was retired and enjoyed many happy times with her friends, her family, and her church family.
She is survived by her beloved family, daughter, Brenda K. Fiddler (Edward); and her grandchildren, Staci Hearth (Bradley), and Lisa Fiddler-Moynihan (Michael); four great-grandchildren, Brittany, Heather, Amanda, and B.J.; brother, David Tidd (Janet); sister, Virginia Wallace; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; and brothers, Paul Tidd, Raymond Tidd, Charles Tidd, and Robert Tidd.

Susan Olson Murray
Susan Olson Murray passed away in Ocala, Fla., after an unexpected short illness. She was born in Bedford.
She is survived by her loving husband William “Bill” Murray; and her daughters, Stephanie (Matthew) Price of Dunnellon, Fla., and Michelle Draper of Carlisle, Ohio; as well as her mother, Marilyn Olson of Bedford; and brother, N. Richard “Ric” (Treva) Olson, also from Bedford.
Susan loved her three grandchildren, Connor Price, Logan Michelle Price, and Kennedy Michelle Draper; and was preceded in death by her father, Norman R. Olson, Jr.
She graduated from Bedford High School and attended Louisiana State University Monroe. Most of her career she worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant for Electronic Data Systems and Crittenton Hospital in Rochester, Mich.
Susan was an avid golfer and actively involved in many activities with Rainbow Springs Ladies Golf Association, she recently was Co-Chairperson for the Susan G. Komen Foundation Annual Golf Tournament.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on June 6 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon, Fla. Arrangements by Roberts Funeral Home, 19939 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Dunnellon, FL (352) 489-2429.

Elizabeth A. Eckman

Elizabeth A. Eckman, 91, of Bedford, died at 12:23 p,m, on Thursday at the StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.
Born Dec. 2, 1920, in Elkhart, she was the daughter of Enoch Blair and Stella (Blood) Creech.
She married Dr. Richard R. Eckman on June 14, 1942; and he preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2006.
She held a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Michigan State University.
She had worked at the Bedford Public Library for many years and also taught piano to both children and adults. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and former member of the Salt Creek Power Squadron Auxiliary.
Surviving are her two daughters, Susan R. Pickens (David Borcherding ) of Columbus and Mariane K. Buker (Jan) of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Kirsten S. Venhaus, Sarah R. Pickens and Daniel H. Buker; and three great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Claire, Vivienne Buker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Marjorie C. Eckman; and one sister, Helen Cooke.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor Beth Ann Cook officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Richard Brown
May 23, 1928 — May 30, 2012
Richard L. Brown, 84, of Bedford, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Richard was born on May 23, 1928, in Bedford, to Frank and Rose (Easley) Brown, he married Ramona Grubb on June 15, 1951, in Bedford and she preceded him in death in 1995.
Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1946 to 1948, he was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge F&M No. 14, and he retired in 1988 from NWSC Crane after 40 years of service.
Survivors include, two sons, Reed Brown and wife Bonnie of Bedford and John Brown of Bloomington; five grandchildren, John Calvin Brown, Richard Daniel Brown, Emily Douglas, Elizabeth Brown, and Austin Brown; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ramona Brown; two sisters, Nancy Carrier and Judy Inman.
Friends may call from 11 a.m, until 1 p.m. on Saturday at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford. Cremation will follow.

Terry Lane Slinkard, 66, Bedford, died at 12:20 a.m. on May 24, at the Hospice House of Indiana University Health, Bloomington Hospital. Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at the First Assembly of God Church in Bedford. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the church.
