Hurst – Lawrence E. "Bud" Hurst of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, November 30, 2006, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center in Bedford. Born on September 30, 1939, he married Judy Johnson, and she survives. Also surviving are three sons: Mike Smith of Florida, Mark Smith of Indianapolis, IN, and David Smith of Kansas; five daughters: Debbie Smith of Florida, Sheila Aslinger of Kansas, Rebecca Johnson of Bedford, IN, Tonya Amstutz of Williams, IN, and April Jones of Owensburg, IN; two brothers: Clifford Smith of Tennessee and Sonny Smith of Florida; one sister, Wanda Bryane of Michigan; nineteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services for the family will be private. There will be no calling hours or funeral. Memorial contributions may be considered to the Victory Life Church in Bedford, IN. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford. Smith – M. Pauline Smith of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, November 30, 2006, at the Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center in Mitchell. Born on October 5, 1918, in Orleans, IN, she was the daughter of James Albert and Minnie (Edwards) Isom. She married Gayle F. Smith on November 21, 1940, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2001. Surviving are one son, Thomas R. Smith and wife, Pam, of Mitchell, IN; two nieces: Beverly Johns and Linda Stillson; and three great-nephews: Kyle and Eric Stillson and Troy Johns. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Edward Isom, and one sister, Geneva Williams. She had been a saleswoman at the LaMode Dress Shop in Kokomo, IN. She was a member of the Class of 1937 of the Mitchell High School. She was an eighty-one year member of the First Baptist Church in Mitchell. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 352, the Mitchell Manor Red Hat Society and the bell choir. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2006, in the Memorial Chapel of the Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell, IN, with Reverend Bill Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery. Dorsett – Julia F. Tow Dorsett of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at the Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center in Mitchell, IN. Born on May 14, 1925, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Ora and Margaret (Hardesty) Melvin. She separately married Tobe Bake, Harold Lee, Cletus "Zeke" Tow and Lawrence "Cookie" Dorsett and they all preceded her in death. Surviving are three daughters: Agatha Ramey of Bloomington, IN, Anna L. "Sissi" Craig and husband, Mark, of Mitchell, IN, and Julie Tow of Mitchell, IN; one son, William Keith Baker of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Verdene McNeel of Mitchell, IN; three grandchildren: Machel Turner and husband, Tony, of Monrovia, IN, Kari Kinder Terrell of Mitchell, IN, and Jae Tolbert of Mitchell, IN; two great-grandchildren: Kristopher Kinder of Mitchell, IN, and Michael Morin of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Hazel Deibel, Velma Joan Melvin and Helen Melvin; three brothers: Ora O'Dell, Pearle and Lowell Melvin; and one grandson, Danny Melton. She was a former co-owner of Zeke's Restauant and Lounge. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary No. 9107. Henderson – Gerald Dene Henderson of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at the Mitchell Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mitchell. Born on August 3, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Clifford and Leona (Goodman) Henderson. He married Gladys Marie Grow on December 1, 1945, and she preceded him in death. Surviving are one son, Gary D. Henderson and wife, Betty, of Bedford, IN; one grandson, Jared Henderson, and one granddaughter, Amanda Jo Blake, both of Bedford, IN; and one great-granddaughter, Maraya Blake. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert D. Henderson. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II. He was a stone planerman and a member of the Laborers Union. He was a member of the Gulletts Creek Baptist Church. McBride of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at the Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born on January 25, 1928, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Ila Earl and Mary Geneva (Bennett) McBride. He married Joan Cook on April 24, 1948, in Bedford, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons: Curtis McBride and wife, Diana, and John E. McBride and wife, Nine, all of Bedford, IN; one brother, Don McBride of Bedford, IN; three grandchildren: Todd McBride and wife, Kristal, of Bedford, IN, Ryan McBride of Indianapolis, IN, and Bailey McBride of Bedford, IN; two great-grandchildren: John Henry and Tatom Lynn McBride, both of Bedford, IN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Dorothy, Vonda and Rose. He was a Lawrence County Sheriff and farmer. He was a member of the Class of 1947 of the Shawswick High School. He was a member of the Bedford F. & A.M. No. 14, the Dive Christian Church, and a life member of the Indiana State Sheriff's Association and F.O.P. Born on July 2, 1932, in Scottsville, KY, she was the daughter of Charlie W. and Letha B. (Bridges) Smith. She married William R. Tinsley on February 7, 1948, and he preceded her in death. Surviving are one son, William Joel Tinsley of Evansville, IN; one daughter, Vivian Lynn Mullinax of Bedford, IN; two sisters: Charline Giroud of Greenwood, IN, and Carolyn Sue Stone of Indianapolis, IN; two granddaughters: LaKrista Lewis of Mitchell, IN, and Natosha Guthrie of Stamping Ground, KY; seven great-grandchildren: Donavan Lewis, Conner Guthrie, Dylan Lewis-Ferry, Seth Guthrie, Dawson Ferry, Evan Guthrie and Audrianna Guthrie. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Ellon F. France. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Scottsville, KY. Hewett – Margie V. (Kern) Hewett of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at the Mitchell Manor Nursing Home in Mitchell, IN. Born on September 15, 1918, in Long Point, IL, she was the daughter of William and Nellie (Standiford) Denton. She married Paul W. Kern in Crawford County, IN, in 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1976. She then married Elbert Hewett in 1982, and he preceded her in death in 1994. Surviving are one daughter, Anita Beavers of Bedford, IN; one son, L. Joe Kern and wife, Patricia, of Mims, FL; one brother, Robert Denton of Louisville, KY; one daugher-in-law, Judy Kern of South Daytona Beach, FL; eight grandchildren: Shawn Parrish, Robin Robinson and husband, Jimmy, Stephanie Janes and husband, Mark, Danny Ingram and wife, Christy, Lori Young, Monica Katrick and husband, Mark, Joseph Kern and wife, Teri, and Brandon Kern and wife, Lisa; sixteen-great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Paul W. "Pete" Kern; three sisters: Myrtle McDaniels, Blanche Crosby and Lizzie Fromme; and brother, Charles Denton, and one great-grandchild, Jeremy Ingram. She was a homemaker. She worked for thirteen years at General Motors Central Foundry in Bedford, IN. She attended East Oolitic Community Church and was a member of the St. Gabriel Episcopal Church in Titusville, FL. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at the Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford, IN, with Brother Millard Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Knott Cemetery in Lawrence County, IN. Martin – Adam C. Martin of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, November 27, 2006, at his residence. Born on July 18, 1984, in Salem, IN, he was the son of Gary and Linda Lee (Walls) Martin. He married Andrea Raylaine Jones on October 17, 2005, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons: Levi Cain and James Henry Martin, both at home; his parents, Gary and Linda Martin of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Derrick Wayne Martin and wife, Katrina, of Salem, IN; grandparents: Bob and Marge Martin of Mitchell, IN, and Fred and Helen Walls of Campbellsburg, IN; two nieces: Kaylee and Paige Marie; and two nephews: Blake and Darion. He was employed at the Riverview Farms, Inc. in Orleans, IN. He was a member of the Crane Village Church. Rhodes – Wilma P. Rhodes of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Bloomington, IN. Born on July 18, 1916, in Salem, IN, she was the daughter of Dempsey VanBuren and Leva Violet (Hougland) Colglazier. She married Earl Wilson, Harvey Porter and Ray Rhodes, and they all preceded her in death. Surviving are seven daughters: Adrienne Clouse and husband, Henry, Jr., of Mitchell, IN, Jackie Brown of Indianapolis, IN, Wanda Hitchcox, Norma Frye, Nancy Field, and Dot Puckett, all of Bloomington, IN, and Ramona Gatewood of Poseyville, IN; one son, Robert Morgan of Winnfield, LA; one sister, Christine Johnson of Scottsburg, IN; twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren, and thirty-four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Ronnie and Bob Rhodes; four grandchildren: Robert Morgan, Jr., Robert Allan Hitchcox, Michael Bowlen and Shelly Staggs; and two great-grandchildren: Carter Hinderliter and Laura Lee Mack. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Church of God in Mitchell, IN. Schoolcraft of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born on January 23, 1928, in Morgan County, IN, she was the daughter of Nathan Thomas and Ermell M. (Haase) Ward. She married Russell Schoolcraft on April 12, 1946, and he survives. Also surviving are one son, Thomas Schoolcraft of Bloomington, IN; two daughters: Linda Jones and husband, Greg, of Panama City, FL, and Mitzi Flynn and husband, John, of Bedford, IN; one sister, Barbara Hardy and husband, Guy, of Bloomington, IN; eight grandchildren: Todd Roberts, Bret Carmichael, Thomas and Troy Schoolcraft, Mindy Schuth, Jennifer and Micah Flynn; eight great-grandchildren: Cody, Brandee, Raegan, Larissa, Thomas Lee, Jr., Amber, Blake and Shane; and one niece, Judy Deckard of Spencer, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents. She worked as a waitress for the Greystone Hotel, Rustic Inn and Jack's in Mitchell, IN. She was a member of the Eagles in Bedford and recently earned the Longest Living Eagles Couple award. Beal – Minnie Rosetta Hildum Beal of Bedford, IN, died Friday, November 24, 2006, at the Hospitality House in Bedford. Born on April 1, 1915, in Peerless Quarry, IN, she was the daughter of Leonard A. and Cora Ann (Strange) Hildum. She married Elmer Kenneth Beal on July 29, 1931, and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1968. Surviving are two daughter: Valetta Brown of Bedford, IN, and Judith Beal of Avoca, IN; three sons: Loren Beal of Nevada, Jack Beal and wife, Carolyn, of Bloomington, IN, and Tug Beal and wife, Shirley, of East Oolitic, IN; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters: Pearl Manzenberger, Hazel Duncan, Bertha Hudson and Kate Beasley; three brothers: Claude, Austin and Homer Hildum; and one great-granddaughter, Paige Dianne Beal. She was a former employee of M. Fine and Sons, Sarkes Tarzian. She retired after seventeen years of service at RCA in Bloomington, IN. She was a member of the Peerless Trinity Pentecost Church. Born on April 21, 1962, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Ronald R. "Nub" and Vickie Ann (Capien) Johnson. Surviving are one son, Ronald L. Johnson of Mitchell, IN; his mother, Vickie, of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Steven W. Johnson of Mitchell, IN; and two grandchildren: Lillian Joanne and Drew Allen Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter, Amanda S. Johnson. He had been employed at the Lehigh Cement Company. He was a member of the Class of 1980 of the Mitchell High School. King – Pauline King of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, November 23, 2006, at her residence. Born on January 15, 1932, in Ewing, VA, she was the daughter of John and Lula Mae (Wilder) Hatfield. She married Raymond E. King on May 19, 1984, and he survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Darlene Voorhies of Mitchell, IN; two sisters: Helen Fleetwood of Bedford, IN, and Wilma Cheek of Fayetteville, IN; two grandsons: Charlesn McKnight and Michael Voorhies; and four great-grandchildren: Brian and Heather Knight, and Elijah and Abigail Voorhies. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Kenny Hatfield, and one grandson, K.P. Voorhies. She was a homemaker. Also surviving are her mother, Bertha, of Springville, IN; one daughter, Tina Lynn Phillips and husband, Wesley, of Springville, IN; one son, Franklin Lee Meadows, II of Bedford, IN; four sisters: Janice Carol Kern of Bedford, IN, Janet Mae Morrow of Springville, IN, Teresa Gayle Turner and husband, Rick, of Williams, IN, and Barbara Jo Perry and husband, William, of Springville, IN; three brothers: James Curtis Andis and wife, Jan, Michael Kenneth Andis and David Allen Andis and wife, Susan; one sister-in-law, Betty Lou Meadows of Bedford, IN; one brother-in-law, Michael Meadows and wife, Mary, of Taylorsville, IN; five grandsons: Daniel Curtis and Darren Wesley Phillips, both of Springville, IN, Sean Matthew, Dylan Scott and Ethan Andrew Meadows, all of Bedford, IN; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, two daughters: Tonya Lee and Sonya Deel one sister, Linda Kay Andis; and one grandson, Christopher Lee Meadows. She was an Avon representative for over twenty-five years. She was of the Christian faith. Pruett of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, November 23, 2006, at the Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born on June 28, 1939, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Beryl J. and Frances Elizabeth (Owens) Pruett. Surviving are three sisters: Barbara Hillenburg of Bedford, IN, Mary Lou Thompson of Bedford, IN, and Marilyn Jean Conrad of Ramsey, IN; and one brother, Glen David Pruett of Cummings, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Dean Pruett. He was of the Christian faith. Born on December 17, 1943, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of John E. and Grace Ellen (Asbury) Martin. She married Ernest E. Hall on April 23, 1983, and he survives. Also surviving are two sons: Shannon Fortner and wife, Donna, of Bedford, IN, and Troy Haggard and wife, Azizah, of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Dana Martin of Bedford, IN; two sisters: Janice Wigley and husband, Frank, of Bedford, IN, and Carol Aston of Florida; five grandsons: Cody Hearth, Scott Cunnigham, Caleb and Jackson Ikerd and Harvey Haggard. Fishel – Walter Lee Fishel of Bedford, IN, died Monday, November 13, 2006, at his residence. Born on December 14, 1930, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Arnold and Craigie (Kern) Fishel. He married Vivian G. Dusard in 1953, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Vivian Ann Mylander and husband, Steve, of Blaine, MN, and Teresa Ellen Winters and husband, Austin, of Westminster, MD; three grandchildren: Andrew Mylander, of Blaine, MN, and Ryan and Kesley Winters, both of Westminster, MD; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Fishel. He was a veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1954 in the Korean War. He was a college professor of agriculture and economics, teaching at North Carolina State University, the University of Minnesota, the University of Maryland and Ohio State University, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Class of 1949 of the Monticello High School in Monticello, IN. He received his bachelor's and masters degrees from Purdue University. He received his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in 1970. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bedford, IN, and served as an elder and on the board of trustees. He was a past district governor of the Indiana Lions Club. He was a Dunn Memorial Hospital Red Coat volunteer and served as Treasurer of the Dunn Foundation until 2005. He was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33. He married Dora Belle Wray on November 12, 1942, and she preceded him in death on August 31, 1999. Born on February 6, 1916, in Tippecanoe County, IN, she was the daughter of Oliver and Alice (Brinegar) Chasteen. She married Frank W. McFadden on April 6, 1935, in Lawrence County, IN, and he preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter: Brenda K. Grogan and husband, James, of Michigan City, IN; one son, Charles N. McFadden and wife, Helen, of West Lafayette, IN; three grandchildren: Mitzi Ann McGlone of Michigan City, IN, Ellen M. McFadden of Lafayette, IN, and Patrick A. McFadden of West Lafayette, IN; great-grandchildren: Zach, Seth, Jesse, Emma Gish and TJ and Sylvia McFadden; four sisters-in-law: Oweetah Chasteen, Ruth Wright, Madalyn McFadden and Margaret McFadden; one brother-in-law, John McFadden; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Frank W. "Bill" McFadden and one brother, Charles E. Chasteen. She had been head cashier at Danners in the mall for fifteen years. She was a lifelong member of the Guthrie Christian Church in Bedford, IN, and the Happy 6 Crafters. Clemons – Ethel Clemons of Indianapolis, IN, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006. Born on June 26, 1917, in Cadiz, KY, she was the daughter of Johnnie and Hattie Greenwade. She married William L. Clemons, and he survives. Also surviving are three nieces: Ann Litzy, Lauretta Robinson and Sandra Franklin; one nephew, Richard Swarn; and several great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was owner of a beauty shop in Fort Wayne, IN. She graduated from the Madam C.J. Walker Beauty School. She was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Indianapolis and the Second Baptist Church in Bedford, IN. She married Marvin Eugene Harrell on May 28, 1977, and he survives. Guthrie – Wayne Eller Guthrie of Bedford, IN, died Monday, November 6, 2006, at the Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born on May 4, 1950, in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of John and Ilene (Stroud) Guthrie. Surviving are three sons: Adam Guthrie of Martinsville, IN, and Dane and Conner Guthrie of Coatesville, IN; three brothers: John Estell Guthrie of Florida, Jim Guthrie of Indianapolis, IN, and Kent Hawkins of Bedford, IN; and five sisters: Joan King of Noblesville, IN, Cathy Ryan of Sellersburg, IN, Judy Bachman of French Lick, IN, Janet Rainey of Bedford, IN, and Mary Hembree of Orleans, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Marjorie, Bernadine and Patsy; and two brothers: Joe and Charles David. He was a graduate from the Mitchell High School. He received a degree in radiology in St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are one daughter, Samantha Lynn Johnson of Mitchell, IN; three sons: Travis Dean, Shaun Ryan and Cody Allen East, all of Tunnelton, IN; three brothers: Dennis Ferguson of Indianapolis, IN, David Ferguson of Nebraska, and Dean Ferguson of Idaho; one sister: Sue Morton of Flat Rock; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are two daughters: Ruth Ann Medworth and husband, Bob, of Brazil, IN, and Kelly Morris of Mitchell, IN; one brother, John Knox of Mitchell, IN; one sister-in-law, Sandra King of Mitchell, IN; and three grandchildren: Whitney Medworth and Shawna and Shane Morris. She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters: Margaret Lutes, Beatrice Brown, Virginia Shacklette, Juanita Brown, Jeanette Napier and Carrie Knox; and five brothers: Don, Pete, Everett, Vivian and Edward Knox. She was co-owner of King's Automotive. She was a member of the Class of 1952 of the Mitchell High School. She was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church and the Spring Mill Stitchers. Born on November 9, 1908, in Oolitic, IN, she was the daughter of Patrick A. and Mable (Hennon) Matthews. She married Elbert O. Hubbard in 1945, and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2003. Surviving are one son, Larry E. Hubbard of Valparaiso, FL; one daughter, Patricia Gallops of Fort Wayne, IN; one step-son, David Hubbard of Bedford, IN; one step-daughter, Peggy Hubbard of Bedford, IN; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Born on May 10, 1927, in Batesville, AR, he was the son of Clarence William and Florence Geneva (Smith) Taggart. He married Helen Revere Maier on June 5, 1952, and she survives. Also surviving are one son, William James Taggart of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters: Katherine Sable Taggart of Lisle, IL, and Carolyn Delight Cron of Lexington, KY; three grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Taggart. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II. He retired as the advertising manager at the Times-Mail Newspaper in Bedford. He was a graduate of the Indiana University School of Music. He was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 and the Bedford Elks Lodge. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford, IN, with Father Charles Carpenter officiating. Hunsucker – Wanda June Hunsucker of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, November 2, 2006, at her residence. Born on December 29, 1927, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Willard and Irene (Bell) Reynolds. She married Charles Hunsucker, Jr., on December 25, 1942, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1998.

Surviving are two daughters: Charla Terrell and husband, Nelson, of Mitchell, IN, and Linda Kay Sage and husband, Fred L., of Miami, FL; one sister, Anna Mobley of Festus, MS; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Mildred Davis and Jean Armitage; one brother, Bud Reynolds; and two infant siblings.

She retired from Trav-Ler Corporation. She was a member of the Orleans United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2006, in the Memorial Chapel of the Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell, IN, with Brother Darrin Chastain officiating. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
