Bungard – James Bungard of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center in Mitchell, IN. He was born December 8, 1927. There are no survivors. He was a dedicated employee at LARC Center, Mills Market, Grandy's Restaurant and Steven's Eastside gas station. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2006, at Mitchell Cemetery with Darren Storey officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Burton – Bruce Burton of Cincinnati, OH, died Friday, May 30, 2006, in Mitchell, IN. Born on February 20, 1931, he was the son of Wheeler and Clara (Walther) Burton. Surviving are one son, Phillip Burton and wife, Elizabeth, of Austin, TX; two daughters: Amy Teboe and husband, Wendell, of Lebanon, OH, and Jody Morgan and husband, Jeff, of Loveland, OH; three granddaughters, two sisters: Mary Benter and husband, Robert, of Seabrook, TX, and Martha Jo Moores and husband, Merril, of Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, William Cordes, and one brother, Kenneth Burton. He was a retired officer with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, OH, and was currently employed with Advanced Radio Technology. He was a member of the Emery Masonic Lodge of Cincinnati, OH, and an avid photographer and cyclist. Following cremation, a memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on June 17, 2006, at the Epiphany United Methodist Church, 6635 Loveland-Miamiville Road, Loveland, OH. King of Huron, IN, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at his residence. Born on October 22, 1917, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Garfield and Hattie Ellen (Pruett) King. He married Alberta Irene Prewitt on January 2, 1945, and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters: Beverlee K. Hancock and husband, Gearry, of Mitchell, IN; Connie Lynn Lee and husband, Philip, of Campbellsburg, IN; and Carol Lee Gerkin and husband, Randy, of Mitchell, IN; one son: Gary Wendell King and wife, Nelsa, of Mitchell, IN; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Tammy Jo Grissom; two brothers: Clarence and Roy King; and two sisters: Blanche Mundy and Maggie Barlow. He retired as a supervisor on the railroad at Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane. He was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge No. 228 F & AM, and the Scottish Rite of Evansville, IN. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Brother Richard Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Huron Cemetery. Wilkinson – Pearl E. Wilkinson of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on January 19, 1917, in Spencer County, IN, she was the daughter of Henry and Cordelia (Emmick) Raven. She married Lewis Wilkinson and he preceded her in death in 1953. Surviving are one daughter, Diana Sanders of Bedford, IN; three grandchildren: Lisa Webb of Bedford, IN, Krista Sipples of Jasonville, IN, and Michael Leslie of Charlotte, NC; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Sue BenChekrun. She retired from the U.S. Census Bureau, Evansville office, where she worked on the business census. She was a graduate of Dale High School in Spencer County and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Boonville. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006, at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with burial to follow. There will be no visitation. Taflinger – Georgia M. Taflinger of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford, IN. Born on February 23, 1922, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Herschell Terrell and Alma (Pemberton) Johnson. She married Charles D. "Bud" Taflinger on December 30, 1950, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2000. Surviving are two daughters: Judy Van Hoy and husband, Bob, of Mitchell, IN; and Brenda Richason of Greencastle, IN; two grandsons: Stacy Van Hoy and Troy Fields; three great-grandchildren, Savanna and Seaver Van Hoy and Chandler Fields; two cousins: Connie Greer and husband, Bob, of Muncie, IN, and Marvin Bex and wife, Ritta, of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Scott Van Hoy. She retired from Central Foundry in Bedford, IN, in 1981. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell, IN, with Stacy Van Hoy officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Haverly Mortuary in Mitchell, IN. Todd – Michael Stephen Todd of Versailles, IN, died Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. Born on March 8, 1948, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of John Earl and Betty Jo (Bailey) Todd. He married Donna Griffin on January 31, 1997, and she survives. Also surviving are his mother of Bedford, IN; one step-daughter, Bobbie Caudill of Batesville, IN; two brothers: John Wayne Todd of Louisiana and James Eugene Todd of Texas; two step-grandchildren: Taylor Lewis and Mike Druschel, several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Jeff Watson of Bloomington, IN. He was preceded in death by his father. He retired from being a conservation officer after working in Indiana for thirty years. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War, where he served on the U.S.S. Quillback Submarine. He was a member of the National Guard, American Legion of Versailles and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and trapping. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2006, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Reverend Brent O'Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the Mundell Christian Church Cemetery. Agan – Ola Ann Agan of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, May 26, 2006, at Select Specialty Hospital in Bloomington, IN. Born on August 1, 1935, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Clayton Tow and Helen (Bartlett) Tow Johnson. Surviving are two daughters: Terri Kavel and husband, Stan, of Irwin, PA, and Lori Agan-Smith and husband, Lance, of Palm Coast, FL; a son: Mike Agan and wife, Annette, of Salem, IN; two sisters: Juanita Pemberton of Mitchell, IN; and Sue Steup of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren: John, Joseph, and Sam Kavel; Brooke and Jordan Agan; and Clayton and Lauryn Smith; nieces and nephews: Betty Briner, Roger Tow, Elaine Duncan, Leslie Brock, Danny Pemberton, Steve Pemberton, Anita Bird, and Mark Craft; several nieces and nephews, and former husband, John Agan of Livonia, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Wanda Brock, and brother, Thomas Tow. She was a homemaker and a former Avon representative. She was a member of the Mitchell First Baptist Church and National Wildlife Federation. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and had a love for birds, her artwork, needlework, and reading the Bible. Dickey – Sherry Lynn Dickey of East Oolitic, IN, died Friday, May 26, 2006 at her residence. Born on September 23, 1960, in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of Permilia "Pam" Stern Dickey. Surviving are two sisters: Shannon Faucett of Jackson, MI, and Teresa Leonard and husband, John, of Redford, MI; four nieces and nephews: Chrystal and James Faucett and John, Jessica, and Rose Leonard all of MI; four great-nieces and nephews: Carly, Kyle, Molly, and Scotty; and her faithful K-9 companions, Samantha and Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Themla and David Stern, with whom she was raised, and her companion, Carla Godsey. She was the senior case manager for the Center of Behavioral Health and was devoted to the welfare of those she provided care for. She enjoyed spending time at home with her family, friends, and two dogs. Klingermeier on August 14, 1948, and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2004. Surviving are two sons: Stephen P. Born on December 11, 1919, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Richard and Sarah Jane (Craig) Yaney. He married Demeris Ingram in 1943 and she preceded him in death in 1994. He then married Esther Purlee and she preceded him in death in 2002. Surviving are a son, Regal Yaney and wife, Mary, of Bedford, IN; two daughters: Suette Purlee and husband, Richard, of Houston, TX; and Shaneta Shelton and husband, Doug, of Bedford, IN; one sister, Alma Chastain of Bedford, IN; ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Sarita Jane Haley; a granddaughter: Angela; six sisters: Mary Greathouse, Mable Girdley, Nellie Fullen, Clara Belle, Jo Eila, and Myrtle; and one brother: Leland Yaney. He was co-founder of the South Lawrence Utilities and retired from there in 1983. He and Demeris owned and operated the Candy Kitchen in Mitchell, IN, from 1961 until 1967. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during World War II and a life member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250. He was also a member of Jacob Finger United Methodist Church. Bennett – Earl E. Bennett of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the home of his daughter in Bloomington, IN. Born on October 5, 1919, in Monroe County, IN, he was the son of Ivan and Florence (Perkins) Bennett. He married Emma Grace Skinner on July 3, 1946, and she preceded him in death on July 4, 1998. Surviving are two daughters: Judy Childers and husband, Ronnie, and Carole Bennett all of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Louise Settles of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren: Kori Childers, Kenny Childers and wife, Terra, Kandi Krothe and husband, Jason, Jamie Hancock and husband, Jeff, Shely Bennett, Joshua Bennett, Michael Bennett and wife, Stephanie; eight great-grandchildren: Denisa, Lynndsey, Emma, Grace, Mason, Lucy, Caleb and Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Emery Bennett; and two sisters: Geneva Beasley and Jeannette Hidlebaugh. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He retired from NWSC Crane, then farmed for thirty years. He was a member of the New Hope Community Church in Bedford, IN. Conley – Eugene Edward Conley of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at Hospitality House in Bedford, IN. Born on May 14, 1921, in Harrodsburg, IN, he was the son of David Edward and Nolah (Allen) Conley. He married Wilma Mae Myers on August 2, 1947, and she preceded him in death on January 3, 2000. Surviving are one daughter, Judith Conley of Bedford, IN, one nephew, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Brenda Jean Conley, and one brother, Carl Dean Conley. He worked for the City of Bedford water works for many years, then was custodian for North Lawrence Schools, retiring in 1983. He was a 1939 graduate of Paoli High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was of the Protestant faith. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Greenhill Cemetery in Bedford, IN, with burial to follow. Williams – Lloyd Williams of Danville, IN, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in Indianapolis, IN. Born on March 15, 1914, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of John N. and Delia (Johnson) Williams. He married Leola Smith Lynch on February 21, 1934, and she preceded him in death November 5, 2000. Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Quarles of Danville, IN; two sons: Jerry Williams of Indianapolis, IN, and William Lynch of Connersville, IN; one sister, Betty Chaszar of St. Petersburg, FL; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: James Ed and Stanley Williams, and an infant; three sisters: Mary Stearns, Georgia Tolbert, and Louise Williams; and two grandsons. He retired from Ford Motor Company after twenty-two years of service and was a member of Franklin Central Christian Church. He married Anna Elizabeth Tolbert on July 20, 1937, in Lawrence County, IN, and she preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, James Donald Bex and wife, Dora, of Williams, IN; a daughter, Colleen Hill and husband, Robert, of Elmhust, IL; two brothers: Robert Bex and wife, Doris, of Bedford, IN, and Russell Bex and wife, Barbara, of Columbus, IN; three sisters: Ruth Hutsell of Zionsville, IN, Lucile Williams of Bloomfield, IN, and Sarah Bright of Anderson, IN; six grandchildren: Julie Ann Whitsett and husband, Joe, of Indianapolis, IN, Janet Marie Kresser and husband, David, of Atlanta, GA, Jane Ellen Peterson of Indianapolis, Bradley Bex Hill and wife, Brenda, of Overland Park, KS, Carmen Ann Uebilhoer of Mitchell, IN, and Camella Dawn Pierce of Bedford, IN; twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Edith Reath, and her grandson, Kyle Robbins. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Barbara Ann Short; three brothers: Logan, Glen and Dennis Bex; and two sisters: Grace Doane and Ida Trueblood. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II. He attended Chase School and Williams School. He was a farmer, a member of Fort William Church of Christ, and F&AM Lodge of Mitchell, IN. Born on May 14, 1914, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Homer and Anna (Jackson) Roberts. She married Arnold J. "Doc" Bowman on September 7, 1935, and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1975. Surviving are one son: Herschel Roscoe Bowman of Freetown, IN; two daughters: Dana Hobson and husband, Ron, of Seymour, IN, and Ann Gee and husband, Duane, of Bedford, IN; one brother, David Roberts of California; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Melanie LeeAnn Hobson, and one step-great-grandchild. She retired from NAD Crane and had been employed at M. Fine & Sons for several years. She attended the First Baptist Church of Bedford, IN. Elliott – Joseph M. Elliott of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford, IN. Born on July 15, 1929, he was the son of Harry J. and Hazel (Martin) Elliott. He married Judy Wilcoxen, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Cynthia Kenworthy of Nobelsville, IN; and Kay Conklin of Muncie, IN; one son, Larry Elliott of Fishers, IN; two brothers: Carl Fred Elliott of Muncie, IN; and Paul Elliott of Gary, IN; two step-sons: Justin Wilcoxen of Mitchell, IN; and Jared Wilcoxen of Bedford, IN; one step-daughter, Jessica Mitchell of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren: Kelly Kemper, Teresa Summerville, Robin Elliott, Meagan Elliott, Todd and Jeff Conklin; three step-grandchildren: Gage, Lyric and Tanner; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He retired after forty-three years of service with GM Powertrain in Bedford, IN, as a tool and die maker. He graduated from Eaton High School and was a member of UAW Local No. 440. Services will be at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford, IN. Sanders – Sherry L. (Scoville) Sanders of Mitchell, IN, died on Saturday, May 20, 2006, at her residence. Born on December 16, 1934, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Harold and Wil-loal (Reynolds) Scoville. She married Don E. Sanders on June 20, 1954, and he survives. Also surviving are one son, Brett D. Sanders, of Mitchell, IN, and twin grand-daughters: Sherene and Cheyenne Sanders. Her parents and step-father, Leland Burton, preceded her in death. She had worked as the manager of Dale's Jewelry for several years. She was a graduate of Bedford High School and was of the Baptist faith. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, in the Memorial Chapel at Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell, IN, with Reverend Dwight Dunbar officiating. Axsom – Delmar S. Axsom of Bedford, IN died on Friday, May 19, 2006, at his residence. Born on April 8, 1940, in Jackson County, IN, he was the son of Eathel and Elsie (Croucher) Axsom. He married Dolly Howell on September 30, 1965, and she survives. Also surviving are two brothers: Kelsey Axsom of Norman, IN, and Kermith Axsom of Bloomington, IN; and two sisters: Loberta Fleetwood of Bedford, IN, and Loretta Fields of Paris Crossing; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Kenny and Howard Axsom, and one in infancy. He was a factory and limestone workers. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Leesville Methodist Church. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, in the Elmwood Chapel at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bishop Neal McCory officiating. Burial will be in Dixon Chapel Cemetery. He worked in the stone mills and was the owner/operator of Gilstrap Sunoco at 16th and M Streets in Bedford, IN. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II. He was a graduate of Tunnelton High School, a member of Fairview Community Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Hayes – Glenn G. Hayes, Jr. of Bedford, IN, died on Thursday, May 18, 2006, at Select Specialty Hospital in Bloomington, IN. Born on July 3, 1926, he was the son of Glenn Garlough, Sr. and Margaret Dorothy (Jorgeson) Hayes. He married Marilynn Jeanne Richards in 1949 and she preceded him in death. He later married Maria Elena Herlihy and she also preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters: Susan E. Hayes of Bedford, IN; and Leslie Hayes Cohan of Williams, AZ; one son, Glenn Garlough "Scott" Hayes III of Williams, AZ; two step-daughters: Shawna Leary of Santa Barbara, CA; and Brianne Leary of Florida; twin brother, Samuel G. Hayes of Aberdeen, WA; and another brother, William R. Hayes of Glenview, IL; four grandchildren: Jessica Lynn Thomas of Rohnert Park, CA; Aaron Lee Thomas of San Diego, CA; Robert Anderton Burgess II of Bloomington, IN; and Christopher Hayes Burgess of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons: Frederick Hayes and James Hayes; one sister, Judith (Hayes) Gillespie; one brother, Owen G. Hayes; and one grandson: Nicholas Hayes Burgess. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Force Cadet Pilot Program during World War II. He graduated with a degree in journalism from Grinnell College and did post-graduate work in aeronautical engineering at Purdue University. He was owner, publisher, and editor of weekly newspapers: The LuVerne Tribune, The Wright County Reporter, The Decatur Republican, and The Back Country Trader-Prospector Mountaineer. He was a member of the Michigan Press Association, the Arizona Press Club, the Tucson (Arizona) Press Club and Sigma Delta Chi, the national journalism society. He earned multiple news and photography awards from the Michigan Press Association. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a past master of the Decatur Lodge No. 99 F&AM of Decatur, MI. He was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star. He served as president of the Decatur (Michigan) Lions International chapter, was a member of the Dows, IA, and Decatur, MI, Volunteer Fire Departments, and was vice-president of the Decatur (Michigan) Village Council. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Decatur, MI. He was a licensed private pilot, an avid golfer, bridge player, outdoorsman and sailor. Following cremation, he will be buried in Mitchell Cemetery, Mitchell, IN, during a private family service at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of the Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell.

Hall – Opal D. Hall of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born May 16, 1910, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Noah and Julia (Frazier) Hall. He was married to his wife, Helen L. Hall, for seventy years, and she survives.
Also surviving are Venoa Kirkman and husband, Joe, of Bedford, IN; Marcia Ann Means and husband, Cecil, of Alabama; Mellisa Hall and husband, Sam, of Evansville, IN; Joseph Hall, Anna and Billy Guy, Alexandra and Mellisa Means; and a sister, Marjorie Cupps, of Bedford, IN.
He was the former owner of Hall Oil Company for sixty-five years and wanted to be remembered for selling gasoline for ten cents per gallon in his early days. He was a flight instructor for the U.S. Army in Indianapolis, IN, during World War II. He later built and co-owned the first airport in Bedford, where he taught flying. He made his last flight at age 85. He was of the Protestant faith and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite.

She was a graduate of Tunnelton High School and of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are his companion, Sue Hearth of Bedford, IN; three daughters: Rhonda Keene, Sheri Gilmore and Tammy Mullis, all of Bloomington, IN; one son, Enoch Richard Grubbs, Jr. of Monrovia, IN; three sisters: Sonya Kemp of Bedford, IN; Louise Lee of Oolitic, IN; and Marie Grubbs of Florida; fifteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ramona Brown; and one half-brother, John L. West. Born October 17, 1939, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Dale and Irene (Sproles) Mynatt. She was formerly married to Fred Lyons. Surviving are Leonard Prince, a life-long friend of the family; one son, Rick Lyons of Springville, IN; five daughters: Jody Root and Cindy Cummings, both of Bloomfield, IN, Fritzi Jones of Springville, IN, Jill Lutes of Bedford, IN, and Kathi Robinson of Summit Lake, IN; four brothers: Chris Shannon of Plainfield, IN, Ernie Mynatt and Sam Mynatt, both of Bedford, IN, Ralph Mynatt of Owensburg, IN; four sisters: Beth Lake, Mary Harrington, Faye Yates and Wilma Hughes, all of Bedford, IN, twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-three great-granchildren. Pederson – Barbara Geneal Pedersen of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bedford. Born July 4, 1948, in Seymour, IN, she was the daughter of David Paul and Anna Louise (Woods) Terry.
Surviving are daughters Lisa Taylor and Lydia Barchman, both of Mitchell, IN; sons Brian Taylor and Jason Taylor, both of Bedford, IN; brothers: Daniel Terry of Mitchell, IN, David Terry of Seymour, IN, and Kenneth Terry, of Reddington, IN; sisters: Rita Palmer of Oklahoma, Sandy Tolbert of Williams, IN, and Rose Woods of Campbellsburg, IN; and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Morris – Thomas Scott Morris, 35, 108 Mason, Bedford, died Sunday evening at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born Jan. 26, 1971, in Florence, SC, he was the son of Thomas Clifford and Juanita (Blake) Morris. He married Sharon “Niki” Perkins April 12, 1994, in Bedford, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two sons: Austin Morris and Michael Morris, both of Bedford, IN; three daughters: Ariana Morris, Amanda Morris and Ashlee Little, all of Bedford, IN; his parents, Thomas C. and Juanita Morris of Bedford, IN; three brothers: Tim Baker, Mark Blake, both of Bedford, IN, and Bobby Joe Morris of Avoca, IN; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was a tree trimmer for Morris and Sons and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bedford.

Morrison – Carroll C. Morrison of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Hospitality House in Bedford. Born Nov. 14, 1917, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Carroll A. and Pansy (Cooper) Morrison. He married Ruth E. Fish in 1941 in Indianapolis, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Radonna “Jeannie” Holmes and husband Gary of Springville, IN; one son, Jed Henry Morrison and wife Jane Anne, Bedford, IN; daughter-in-law, Susan Morrison, Bloomington, IN; and son-in-law, Andrew “Andy” Bair, Bedford, IN; eight grandchildren: Jamie Day and husband Tim, Williams, IN, Trent Holmes and wife Carrie, Bedford, IN, Charles E. “Chuck” Bair and wife Ava, Bedford, IN, Michelle Hicks and husband Matt, Madison, IN, Patrick Morrison, San Diego, CA, Carrie Heironimus and husband Brandon, Kailua, Hawaii, Cassie Spires and husband Justin, Bedford, IN, and Christopher “Chris” Morrison, Bedford, IN; 12 great-grandchildren, Braxton and Tristan Day, Williams, IN, Libbie and Cooper Holmes, Bedford, IN, Sam, Jacob and Alice Bair, Bedford, IN, Ben Hicks, Madison, IN, Brittany and Bella Heironimus, Kailua, Hawaii, and Colton and Chloe Spires, Bedford, IN; two sisters, Frances Stultz, North Vernon, IN, and Emily Batman, Clearwater, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Janice Kay Bair, April 16, 1998; son, Jay Carroll Morrison, Sept. 6, 2005; grandson, Joseph Jay Morrison, Aug. 12, 2005; brother Glenn Morrison, July 4, 2002.
He graduated from Bedford High School in 1936 and went to David Rankin Trade School, St. Louis, Mo. He returned to work in his father's sporting goods store. Carroll, along with his wife Ruth, owned and operated Morrison's Business Supply, Bedford, from 1965 to 1985. He was a well-known locksmith in the Bedford area for over 50 years, as well as being employed at NWSC Crane as a locksmith and a draftsman. He retired from NWSC Crane in 1980. Carroll served with the U.S. Army in World War II for three years, serving with the 11th Armored Division Headquarters. His unit was assigned to the European Theater and he served as a draftsman and topographer. Carroll was a 48-year member of the Grace United Methodist Church in which he took an active part until his illness in 2002. He was active in the Methodist Men for many years, as well as serving on the Official Board of the church. He also ran the tape ministry, taping the Sunday morning service and delivering copies to the shut-ins of the church and mailing copies to out-of-town members. Carroll was a member of American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, Bedford, Bedford Elks Club, AARP and NARFE.
Funeral services for Carroll C. Morrison will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10th, at the Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Brinegar and Dr. Ted Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded at the grave by American Legion Post No. 33 of Bedford. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford and from 10 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the church. Parish – Helen M. Parish of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Bloomington Hospital. Born April 28, 1928, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of William and Hazel (Wagoner) Streete. She married Carl L. Parish June 29, 1946, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband of Mitchell are two sons, Carl W. Parish and his wife Carol of Bedford, IN, and Michael Parish and wife Sharon of Orleans, IN; three daughters: Lana Williams and husband Steve of Mitchell, IN, Wilma Jeannie Jones and husband Paul of Bloomington, IN, and Tammy King and husband Henry of Corydon, IN; five grandchildren: Tangela McClelland, Dustin Williams, Lucas Jones, Zachary Jones and Kyle Parish; two great-grandchildren, Ariel Taillon and Abigail McClelland. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 10th, at the Haverly Mortuary in Mitchell with Brother Allen Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the mortuary.

Phillips – Bobby Joe Phillips of Springville, IN, died May 5, 2006, at Bloomington Hospital. Born in Delta (Wayne Co.), KY, he was the son of Owen William and Lela Ann (Jones) Phillips. He married Nancy Sue Summitt on June 19, 1970, in Kirksville (Monroe Co.) IN, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife is one son, Jeffrey Wayne Phillips, at home. Also surviving is one brother, Rev. Ray Phillips and his wife, Brenda, Mitchell, IN; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Bell and her husband, Preston, and Mrs. Zula Bell and her husband, Roy, all of Springville, IN., and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Delmar, Arthur and Junior Phillips; two sisters, Develda Phillips and Mary Velma Egger.
Bobby Joe Phillips was employed at many area stone quarries, including Victor Oolitic, Dark Hollow, Elliott Stone Quarry, and the last 14 years with Indiana Limestone Co., Oolitic, IN, where he was a drill runner. He was a member of Local 741 Laborers and Hodcarriers.
Funeral services will be on Monday, May 8, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford, IN, with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Scherschel – Karl E. Scherschel of Bedford, IN, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. Born November 17, 1943, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Edward W. and A. Pauline (Crabb) Scherschel. He married Carol Ann Lewis on June 18, 1966, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Eric B. Scherschel and wife Sherry, of Needmore, IN; one daughter, Kristiane M. Baumgart and husband Jason, of Bedford, IN; his mother, A. Pauline Scherschel, of Bedford, IN; four brothers: Harold Scherschel of Indianapolis, IN, Benjamin "Benny" Scherschel of Syracuse, Bernard "Bernie" Scherschel of Bedford, IN, and Gary Scherschel of Bedford, IN; one sister, Ann Scherschel of Caramel, IN; five grandchildren: Garrett Scherschel, Gavin Scherschel and Michaella Scherschel, all of Needmore, IN, Emma Baumgart and Katie Baumgart, both of Bedford, IN; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Timothy Scherschel.
He retired from the Bedford North Lawrence High School Science Department after twenty-seven years and was also a farmer. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and his education degree from Indiana University. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, ISTA. He was formerly a 4-H Fair Board member, 4-H Leader, and member of the Junior High Coaching Staff at Oolitic.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2006, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford, IN, with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Medlock – Marion M. (Smith) Medlock, 77, of #9 Hillcrest Circle, Bedford, died on Wednesday night at her residence, surrounded by her family. Born May 11, 1928, in Dearborn, MI, she was the youngest daughter of Howard Smith and Pearl (Richardson) Smith. She married Walter Medlock Jr., on April 17, 1949, and he died on May 8, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Martie Medlock Spaulding of Bedford, IN, and Michelle “Missy” Medlock Adams of Fort Worth, TX; one son, Rob Medlock of Strongsville, OH; two sons-in-law, Jan Spaulding of Bedford, IN, and Jeff Adams of Fort Worth, TX; one daughter-in-law, Barb Medlock of Strongsville, OH; eight grandchildren: Mandy Ward, Bedford, IN, Autumn Bailey, Southpoint, OH, Meghan Medlock, Jay Medlock, Mindy Medlock and Jon Medlock, all of Strongsville, OH, Abby Leigh Adams and Allyson Michelle Adams, both of Fort Worth, TX; four great-grandchildren, Addyson Leigh Bailey, Alec Kade Bailey and Ashton Kole Bailey, all of Southpoint, OH, and Christopher Walker Ward, Bedford, IN; and one sister, Marjorie Biggers of Clearwater, FL. Marion was preceded in death by her husband; and one sister, Muriel Barnes.
Following graduation from Odon High School, she worked at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane for several years. Marion and Walter were part owners of Hale's Carriage House Furniture before retiring in 1990. They were also active members of the Bedford Free Methodist Church for many years, teaching the senior high school Sunday school class for more than a decade. Marion also was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Bedford before she and Walter moved to Fort Worth, Texas, in late 1998. While in Texas, Marion worked in the television department of Kenneth Copeland Ministries (KCM) and later as a sales associate in the KCM bookstores. She and Walter were members of Eagle Mountain International Church while living in Texas. After Walter's death in May 2004, Marion to Bedford. At the time of her death, she was an active member of Stonegate Faith Center, pastored by her son-in-law Jan Spaulding and daughter Martie Spaulding. She was a member of the Hoosier 100 Club. A former Women's City Golf Tournament Champion, Marion was a member of the Otis Park Ladies Club and volunteered at the Bedford Regional Medical Center Gift Shop during the 1990s and recently worked tirelessly for Angel Food Ministries at Stonegate Faith Center in Lawrence County.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday at Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastors Jan and Martie Spaulding officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the mortuary.

Binkley – James C. Binkley of Hendersonville, NC, died Monday, May 1, 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Bennett Binkley; daughters, Mary Beth Fendley of Hendersonville and Susan Weisenburger of Plano, TX; six grandchildren, Kimberly Fendley Durden of Harrisonburg, VA., Kara Fendley Kilpatrick, Laura Fendley King and Timothy Carlton Fendley, all of Hendersonville, and Rachel and James Weisenburger of Plano, TX, five great-grandchildren, Kathryn Fendley Kilpatrick, Jakob and Hannah Durden and Emma and Julia King; sons-in-law, the Rev. Kenneth (Skip) Fendley of Hendersonville, and Dr. Steven Weisenburger of Plano, TX, as well as grandsons-in-law, Jeff Durden, Steve Kilpatrick and Jeremy King. He was preceded in death by twin children, Rebecca Jane and Timothy Carlton Binkley.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, he also served several churches in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky as both deacon and minister of music. Graduating from Georgetown College in 1956, he devoted more than 35 years of service as a high school English teacher in Kentucky and Ohio.
He was a World War II veteran of the European theater, serving as a combat engineer with the 253rd Combat Engineer Battalion. He was awarded two battle stars for his service.
After his discharge he married Vivian Bennett, daughter of Rex and Lucy Bennett of Oolitic, and worked several years for the Indiana Limestone Quarry. During this time he was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Oolitic.
He also loved his family dearly, especially Vivian, with whom he spent 60 glorious years. His children, grandchildren and other family were dear to him.
A funeral service will be held at l:00 pm, Friday at Day & Carter Mortuary, 1133 Lincoln Avenue in Bedford. The Rev. Kenneth C. (Skip) Fendley will officiate. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Bedford. Friends may call from 12 noon to the service hour Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
Kautz – Betty Louise Kautz of Homosassa, FL, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, Florida. Born September 1, 1930, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Jesse and Mary Frances (Cole) Lane. She married Robert F. Kautz in 1973, and he preceded her in death August 13, 1994.
Surviving are children: Mike McLaughlin and wife, Lisa, of Shoals, IN, Marsha Higdon and husband, Ron, Robert McLaughlin and wife, Cheryl, Mary Hughett and husband, Michael, all of Mitchell, IN, Thomas McLaughlin and wife, Betty, of Tennessee, and Billy Joe McLaughlin and wife, Page, of Florida; a very dear friend, Jim; sisters: Lettie Coffman of Bedford, IN, and Nancy Burlington of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Jesse B. Lane of Mitchell, IN; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and three brothers: Herschel, Roy and Elwood Lane.
She had been employed at RCA and was a cook at Jones' Restaurant. She was of the Baptist faith.

Radcliff – Emmalee Grace Radcliff of Bedford, IN, died at 6:49 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2006, at her residence. Born Dec. 19, 2005, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Charles R. and Jamie L. (Birchfield) Radcliff.
