Endris – Mary Jean Endris of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at her residence. Born Sept. 7, 1944, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Otto and Marie (Gates) Endris.

Surviving are one brother, Daniel “Dean” Endris, Indianapolis; one brother-in-law, Joe Johnson, Bedford, IN; three sisters-in-law: Pat Endris, Janet Endris and Joan Endris Edwards, all of Bedford, IN; nephews: Thomas Endris, Danny Endris, Stan Endris and wife Cindy, Steve Endris and wife Mary, Jon Endris, Greg Endris and wife Michelle, Mark Endris, Brad Endris and wife Shannon, Chris Johnson and wife Frances, Jim Johnson and wife Courtney and Marty Endris and wife Shannon; nieces: Jackie Robbins and husband Kevin, Donna George and husband Darin, Bev Saunders and husband Paul, Dana Sasser and husband Adam, Mindy Endris Lingo and husband Craig, Marcy Volz and husband David and Janice Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Donald Endris, Joseph Endris, John “Jack” Endris, and James Endris; and one sister, Teresa Johnson.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford and was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul School.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. today at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford. A Rosary service will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. today.

Burton – Courtney Jae Burton of Oolitic, IN, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Bloomington Hospital. Born May 24, 1978, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Danny Burton and Lee Ann (Mann) Burton. He married Darbi Hughes.

Surviving are his mother of Orleans, IN; his father of Oolitic, IN; one brother, Desi Burton, Bloomington, IN; maternal grandmother, Shirley York, Orleans, IN; paternal grandmother, Shirley Chastain, Mitchell, IN; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Burton, Mitchell, IN. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother; maternal grandfather and his maternal great-grandparents.

He worked at Indiana Limestone.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Haverly Mortuary with Pastor Don Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home

Beyers – Roxanna "Rocky" Beyers of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Born September 9, 1958, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Jesse Elmer and Wanda Jean (Grissom) Williams.

Surviving are one daughter, Jessica Leann Berk, Orleans, IN; four sons: Jeremy Dotts, Paoli, IN, Justin Dotts, Mitchell, IN, Josh Dotts, Bedford, IN, and Jerrod Dotts, Mitchell, IN; her mother, Wanda (Grissom) Pridemore; her father, Jesse Williams; her companion, Mike Cain; two sisters, Marilyn Jean Tarr and Cindy Lee, all of Mitchell, IN; and 13 grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Cemetery with Frank Ira officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday at the Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell.

Walls – Shirley A. Walls of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, April 27, 2006 at the Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born November 22, 1948, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Roy Edward and Frances (Stewart) Walls. She married Robert W. Moffatt, Sr. and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one sister, Martha Burkhart and her husband, Lee of Bedford, IN; aunts, Leona Hawkins of Springville, IN, and Mildred Hillenburg of the Chapel Hill area; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Donna Moffatt.

She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hopkins Cemetery in Needmoore. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford.

Dougherty – Michael Paul Dougherty of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at his residence. Born November 26, 1952. in Denver, CO, he was the son of Carl and Mary (Turpin) Dougherty. He married Joyce White September 22, 1996, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters: Michelle, Brandy, and Dawn, of Colorado; stepchildren: Tracy White of Mitchell, IN, Clinton, Shawn, and Joey Stannard, all of Bedford, IN; brother, Carl Lee Dougherty of Bedford, IN; sisters, Shannon Dougherty, Patty Clark, and Sheila Brinegar, all of Bedford, IN; grandson, Jordon of Colorado; 9 step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His parents; brother, James Dougherty; stepdaughter, Lena Corps and stepson, Shane Stannard, preceded him in death.

He was a cook at Hobby’s Inn for 18 years and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, at Mitchell Cemetery with Pastor Kenny Waldon officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. on Friday at Chastain Funeral Home.

Dillman – Alberta Dillman of Williams, IN, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born July 17, 1920, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Thurman and Pearl (Songer) Jones. She married Wayne Dillman on December 4, 1945, and he died on June 2, 1984.

Surviving are two sons, Keith Dillman and his wife, Cecy of Williams, IN, and Jay Dillman and his wife, Denise of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Rose Queen and Carrie Troutman both of Loogoottee, IN; five grandchildren: Lesley Deckard, Rita Dillman, John Dillman, Brett Dillman and Molly Dillman; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.

She retired as a cook for the North Lawrence School System in 1984 and was a member of the Williams Church of Christ and the WIlliams Homemakers Club.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 27th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Steve Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Williams Cemetery Association.

Ferguson – Charles "Mike" Ferguson of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at his residence. Born March 29, 1933, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Charlie Alex and Frances Mae (Dilks) Ferguson. He married Bonnie Joyce McCart February 2, 1952, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Tony Ray Ferguson and his wife, Priscilla, of Greenwood, IN, and Michael Scott Ferguson and his wife, Kim, of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Robert Ferguson of Indianapolis; grandchildren: Christopher Ferguson and Nicholas Ferguson, Kenia Ferguson and Aften Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He had been employed at Hancock Construction and retired from Carpenter Body Works. He was a 1951 graduate of Mitchell High School and of the Methodist faith. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Reverend Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Kern – John D. Kern of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 23, 2006, at the Bloomington Hospital. Born January 12, 1924, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Moses and Gladys (Byrd) Kern. He married Alma Luttrell and she preceded in death. He later married Geneva Pruett on January 12, 1990, and she also preceded him in death.

Surviving are three step-sons: Michael D. Luttrell, Dewey Luttrell and his wife, Mary and Charlie Luttrell and family, all of Indianapolis; one step-daughter, Rudeen Patton of Bedford, IN; Racquel, Travis, Zachrey and Cole Hudson, all of Bedford, IN, Charletta Luttrell and family. Gary and Patty Luttrell and family, Terry Luttrell and family, Perry and Diane Luttrell and family, Lesa and Clarance Francis and family, Rita and Jack Taylor and family, David Luttrell and family, Fran and Mike Chase and family, Shannon and Larry Newland and family, Treasa and Gary Swinson and family. Denise and Lee Taylor and family, Cathy Vanmeter and family, Greg Luttrell and family, Doug and Kay Luttrell and family, Kevin Luttrell and family, John and Terri Luttrell and family, Stormi Jackson and family; step-sons, Roy, Harley and Eddie Pruett all of Bedford and Jim Pruett of Terre Haute; one step-daughter, Joyce Pemberton of Bedford; four half-brother, Kenny, Jimmy, Louis (Corky) and Tommy Kern. He was preceded in death by his parents and both wives, four step-sons, Wayne, Cotton, Sarge and Morris Luttrell; two step-children in infancy, Patsy Sue and Edward Luttrell.

He was a retired maintenance worker at Indiana University.

Bennett – Harold Bennett of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at his residence. Born April 15, 1913, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Ebb and Edith (Stewart) Bennett. He married Virginia Rose Faris November 19, 1941, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife, are two sons, Jo Alan Bennett of Seymour, IN, and James Eric Bennet of Bedford, IN; one sister, Mary Edith Lee of Bedford, IN; four grandchildren: Stacie Ann Bennett, Eric Michael Bennett, Bryce Bennett, and Thomas Daniel Bennett; and four great-grandchildren: Brynlea Bennett, Madelyne Bennett, Kaedyn Bennett, and Carter Bennett. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann; brothers, Theron in infancy, Herschel, Lemuel, and Burl Bennett.

He retired from W. F. Meyers Company with 31 years of service, was a member of White River Baptist Church, and a 1931 graduate of Tunnelton High School. He was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a Prisoner of War in Germany for 11 1/2 months and was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and EAME service medal with two bronze stars. He was a life member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250, Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, and Disabled American Veterans.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25th, at Tunnelton Cemetery with Reverend Hugh Reynolds officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Chastain Funeral Home.

Folmer – Lois R. Folmer of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the IU Medical Center in Indianapolis. Born Feb. 14, 1926, in Woodlawn, KY, she was the daughter of Joseph and Henrietta (Torline) Schwartz. She married Bill Folmer Jr., on July 27, 1946, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one son, William Folmer, III, and his wife Rhonda of Bedford; IN; three daughters: Linda P. Edwards, Shari Mundy and her husband Sam, all of Bedford, IN, and Jo Ann McPherson and her husband James of Paoli,IN; four grandchildren: Ashea Williams and her husband Doug, William Folmer IV, all of Bedford, IN, and Kessiah and Nakia McPherson, both of Paoli, IN; one great-grandson, Robert E. Williams of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Merce Humbert of Millford, OH, and Juanita Schloemer of Erlanger, KY; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Early Schwartz.

She was the assistant auditor for the city of Newport, KY, and had taught at St. Anthony School in Kentucky. She was a homemaker, a dog groomer and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 24th, at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Fry – Mildred A. Fry of Bedford, IN, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at the White River Lodge in Bedford. Born, May 31, 1930, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Clyde and Stella (Brown) Jones. She married William Harold Ray and he died in December of 1992. She later married John Fry on May 10, 1994 and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Martha Sowders and her husband, Raymond (Bud) of Heltonville, IN; three grandchildren: Rick Sowders and his wife Krystal of Heltonville, IN, Billy Eggers, and Shelley Craig and her husband, Kevin, all of Bedford, IN; four great grandchildren: Casey Wayne Sowders, Todd , Britney and Winter Bokern; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, William; one daughter, Judith Ann Ray; four sisters: Zora Kimbrel, Charlotte Lewis, Vivian Harrison and Violet Sargent; and two brothers, Rusaw Goens and Pete Jones.

She was a homemaker.

Smallwood – Miriam Elizabeth Smallwood of Oolitic, IN, died Monday, April 17, 2006, at her residence. Born December 18, 1904 in Oolitic, IN, she was the daughter of Levi A. and Mary (Batman) Smallwood.

Surviving are three nephews: Dr. Kay Smallwood of California, Dr. Don Smallwood of Florida and Tom Smallwood of California; two nieces, Sue Hicks of Bedford, IN, and Nedra Smallwood Ward of California; nineteen great nieces and nephews and twenty-eight great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Smallwood and Dr. Robert Smallwood; and one sister, Catherine Smallwood.

She was a graduate of Indiana University. She was a schoolteacher for grade school in Lawrence County, high school in Bloomington and college professor at the University of Dayton. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Oolitic.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 22, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dan Voorhies offciating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the hour of the service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Henson – Wilma Violet Henson of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at her residence. Born on September 6, 1930 in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Charles N. and Martha Ellen (Childers) Stevens. She married Delbert W. Henson in 1949 and he died on July 25, 1992.

Surviving are four sons: Ronald Henson and his wife, Gail, Gene Henson and his wife, Debbie, Delbert Henson, Jr. and his wife, Ginger, Gary Henson and his wife, Tami all of Bedford, IN; three daughters: Darlene Bailey and Debra Jurashen and her husband, Robert all of Bedford, IN, Bonnie Chaplin and her husband, Chuck of Mitchell, IN; twenty five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Geneva Lemons and Mary Winters both of Rockville, IN, Ruby Watterson of Bedford, IN. She is preceded in death by her eight brothers: Charles, Pete, Lonnie, Albert, Franklin, Leroy, Bill and Tedrowe Stevens; and three sisters: Nettie Stevens Nelson, Louise Jones and Lula Belle Sifers.

She was a homemaker and a member of Charity Chapel.

Miller – Marvin L. Miller of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at his residence. Born December 30, 1920, in Oolitic, IN, he was the son of Marshall P. and Roberta J. (Ellis) Miller. He married Edna Hoban on December 2, 1944, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Susan Miller of Georgia and Jennifer Miller Holden and her husband, Larry Holden of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Holden who is serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. and Christopher L. Holden of Dallas, TX; one great granddaughter, Hayley Holden Etter of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Josephine Rariden and her husband, Dave.

He was a banker, financial executive and entrepreneur in Bedford and Salem. He sat on boards of several area banks and was the chairman for the Department of Financial Institutions for the State of Indiana. He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his MBA from Harvard University. He was a veteran of WW II serving as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Bex – Nola Gail Bex of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born May 29, 1906, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of William Noble and Sally Esther (Gore) Reuter. She married Wilmer E. Bex March 31, 1928, and he died March 14, 1964.

Surviving are one son, William D. Bex and wife Martha of Williams, IN; seven grandchildren: Gaylon Hatfield, Debbie Skweres, Pam Rayhill, Brad Baldwin, Donnie Bex, Brenda Davis and Stephen Bex; several great-grandchildren; three sisters: Lela Colglazier of Williams, IN, Hannah Wagoner of New Albany, IN, and Martha June Taylor of Zionsville, IN; and one brother, John Reuter of New Castle, IN. She was preceded in death by three brothers: William Shirley Reuter in infancy, Cecil Reuter and Charles Reuter; and four sisters: Helen Ritter, Dorothy Higham, Louise McFarlin and Pearl Terry.

She was a school teacher for 32 years, retiring in 1972. She taught 19 years at Williams School and eight years at Burris Elementary. She also taught at Chase School, Bridge School and Patton Hill School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Williams where she taught Sunday School and played the piano. She was a charter member of Williams Homemakers Club, a retired member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, volunteer for BRMC Auxiliary (2000 hours) and a member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Merla Craig and the Rev. Kenny Adams officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the mortuary.

Harbison – Roberta Dean Harbison of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at White River Lodge. Born Jan. 23, 1906, in Willisville, IL, she was the daughter of Francis Virgil and Ollie (Nixon) Woodall. She married Robert Harbison on Aug. 19, 1939, in Indianapolis, and he died on November 28, 1984.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one half brother, Shannon White.

She was an accountant and office manager at Asbury Hall Graves Co. in Indianapolis for many years and also at the Antlers Hotel in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Christian Church in Indianapolis and the American Business Women's Association.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford. Burial will follow. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford.

Jones – Wayne Jones of, Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, April 6, 2006, at Bloomington Hospital. Born Sept. 19, 1925, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Harley and Bessie (Phillips) Jones. He married Betty Jean McPike on April 22, 1951, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 1990.

Surviving are two daughters, Jo Ellen Welton and husband Jeff of Mitchell, IN, and LeAnne Shaw of Sharpsville, IN; three grandchildren: Joshua Shaw of Indianapolis, Lindsey Welton of Atlanta, GA, and Rachel Welton of Mitchell, IN; two brothers, Raymond and Doyle Jones, both of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Ilene Burton and Wyrtis Fitzgerald; and two brothers, Warren and Dale Jones.

He retired as a planner estimator for Crane Naval Base in 1985. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Bedford and the Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14, F& AM. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church with Larry McPike officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the church.

Kidd – Benjamin Harrison Kidd of Springville, IN, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at his residence. Born April 19, 1925, in Monticello, KY, he was the son of Walter and Lissie (Jones) Kidd. He married Zadie Foster on Oct. 27, 1951, and she died on March 5, 1989. He then married Mary Elizabeth (Harp) Kidd, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Helen Ford and her husband Daniel and Hilda Gipson and her husband James, all of Lawrence County, IN; four sons: Harold Kidd of Bloomfield, IN, Herman and Homer Kidd, both of East Oolitic, IN, and Howard Kidd of Owensburg, IN; three stepsons: Roger and Jeff Harp of Bloomington, IN, and Danny Harp of Florida; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edgar Kidd of Guthrie, IN, and Chester Kidd, Somerset, KY; five sisters: Chloe Morrow of Bedford, IN, Ora Keith, Eubank, KY, Lillie Surber, Waynesburg, KY, and Esmie Collins, Pulaski, KY. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Flonie Kidd and Lola Hall, and eight brothers, Lushen, Hulen, Hartman, Curtis, Wilburn and Albert and two in infancy.

He was a retired stone quarry worker, carpenter and worked for the City of Bedford. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Springville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Roscoe Godsey, Jim Bowman and Chet Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Springville West Cemetery. Brooks – Mary F. Brooks of Bedford, IN, formerly of Kentucky, died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on March 6, 1928, in Paoli, IN, she was the daughter of Everett and Zelma Holiday Kendall. She married Clarence Brooks and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are one sister, Rose Vernon of Paoli, IN; two sisters-in-law, Millie Kendall of Bedford, IN, and Shirley Kendall of Mitchell, IN; three nephews: Father Rommie Starks of Indianapolis, Richard Kendall of Kansas, and Mark Kendall of Louisville, KY: three nieces: Becky Behrens of KY, Carla Kacher of Mitchell, IN, and Bonnie Hardin of Campbellsville, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers: Elwood Kendall, Carl Kendall and Robert “Bobby” Kendall; and two sisters, Dorothy Fultz and Helen Starkes.

She was a retired beautician in Cincinnati, OH.

Stewart – Dorothy Faye Stewart of Bedford, IN, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born March 29, 1912 in Acton, IN, she was the daughter of Frank and Flora Bell (Jenkins) Weaver. She Married Lenza William Stewart on January 21, 1929.

Surviving are one son, Charles N. Stewart and wife Betty, Kaufman, TX, three daughters: Janet Yeary and husband, D.C., Linda Brown and husband, John and Judy Zuttarelli and husband, Ralph, all of Bedford, IN; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild; one sister, Cynthia Jane Wagner, Avon, IN, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Norma Jean; one brother, Virgil Weaver; and one step-brother, James Wyman Clark.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday, April 14, 2006 in Patton Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, April 13, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Brown – Robert Franklin Brown, Sr., of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at Dunn Memorial Hospital, Bedford. Born February 7, 1927, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Henry and Elva (Jaynes) Brown. He married Barbara June Brim.

Surviving are four sons: Bertram Brown of Kissimmee, FL, Roger Dale Brown of Live Oak, FL, Robert Franklin Brown, Jr. and Lawrence Ellis Brown, both of Mitchell, IN; two daughters, Myrna "Jeanie" Brown of Mitchell, IN, and Teresa Jo Jones of Waco, TX; two brothers, Robert "Sonny" Keynon of Mitchell, IN, and Allard Mears, Jr. of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Karen Cornett of Orleans, IN, Donna Haub of Mitchell, IN, and Patty Canada of Bedford, IN; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; adopted parents: Arvil and Ella Lewis; brother: Roger Dale Brown; sisters: Magdaline Sallee, Betty Gaddis, Sue Tincher, and Dorothy Caldwell; and grandson, Joshua Miles Johnson.

He was a former truck driver, Mitchell Police Department reserve officer, and had driven the Mitchell-Bedford bus. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a life member and past commander of Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, and a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Brother Josh Brumfield officiating. Entombment will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Evans – Eddie L. Evans of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, FL. Born on July 18, 1931, in Monroe County, IN, he was the son of Roy and Martha Bernice (Dustin) Evans. He married Mary Chilton on September 10, 1954, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are his father, Roy of Bedford, IN; his children: Susie Kern and her husband Mark, Judy Cessna, Gary Evans, Bill Evans and his wife Pam and John Evans, all of Bedford, IN, Jenny Semssar and her husband Salim of Carmel, IN; 16 grandchildren: Manessa Butler, Kylene Leonard, Diane, Phil, Emily and Kevin Cessna, Chris Evans, Amanda Walters, Winter and Chloe Evans, Dakota, Damian and Sierra Evans, Maryam, Ali and Amir Semssar; four great-grandchildren: Jackson, Fox and Ava Butler, Sanora Walters; two sisters: Iris Riggs of Greenwood, IN, and Sondra Evans of Bedford, IN; one brother: Larry Evans of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother in infancy, Gary.

He was the owner and operator of Architectural Stone Sales. After his retirement from the stone industry, he opened the Antique Auto and Race Car Museum in Bedford. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS General A.E. Anderson. He was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33. He attended the Free Methodist Church and the Englewood Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 10th, at the Free Methodist Church in Bedford with Revs. David Ferry, Reed Beard, Pastors David Colgan and Ronnie McLain all officiating. Burial will follow at the Cresthaven Memory Gardens with graveside military rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33. Friends may call from 1 until 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday at the Free Methodist Church. Memorial Contribution may be made to the Thornton Memorial Boys Club and Limestone Girls Club.

Fields – Robert Joseph Fields of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at his residence. Born on December 4, 1936, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Oma and Dorothy (Kern) Fields. He married Bonnie Thomas Fields on February 17, 1989, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Victoria Fields Jones of Indianapolis; one son, Robert Joseph Fields, Jr. of Ohio; one grandson, Adam Christopher Jones of Indianapolis; one sister, Sharon Nicholson of Bedford, IN, two brothers, Billy and Larry Fields, both of Bedford, IN, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Kay, in infancy.

He retired as a stone plainerman for Fluck Stone Company in Bloomington and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Dive Christian Church, a past member of the Eagles #654, Moose Lodge in Bedford, and the American Legion Gillen Post #33.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 12th, at the Dive Christian Church with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday, April 11th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9:00 am until service time Wednesday at the Dive Christian Church.

Long – Mildred Long of Bedford, IN, died Monday, April 3, 2006, at her residence. Born Sept. 16, 1916, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Ollie and Frances (Foster) Hodges. She married Bill Long in 1937 and he died in 1988. She married John Kimbley in 1992 and he died June 16, 2004.

Surviving are one sister, Mary Gilstrap of Bedford, IN; five brothers: Harold Hodges of McIntosh, FL, John Hodges of Bedford, IN, Gene Hodges of Franklin, IN, Harry Hodges of Starkville, MS, and Tom Hodges, Claiborn, MO.

She was a hairdresser and owned and operated Hollywood Beauty Shop. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford. Entombment will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Neideffer – Harold F. “Buck” Neideffer of Bedford, IN, died Monday, April 2, 2006, at Core Nursing Home in Bedford. Born March 25, 1928, in Martin County, IN, he was the son of Zollie and Bernadette (Brown) Neideffer. He married Ruth Tedrow and she died in 1971. He then married Anna L. Fountain on July 16, 1971, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Charles I. Neideffer and wife Cathy of Shoals, IN; one daughter, Loretta Holt of Shoals, IN; two stepsons, Gordon W. Sons and Louis R. Sons and wife Sherry, all of Bedford, IN; one stepdaughter, Judith Franklin and husband Rock of Greenwood, IN; nine grandchildren: Aaron Lee Holt, Joshua Paul Neideffer, both of Shoals, IN, Trisha Wininger of Bedford, IN, Scott Velasquez of Melbourne, FL, Shannon Watkins, of Bedford, IN, Amy Clark of Spencer, IN, Kyle Sons of Bloomington, IN, Andrew Sons and Nicole Sons, both of Bedford, IN; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

He was an Electric Driller with National Gypsum Company in Shoals, retiring in 1990. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith, a member of the War Dads of the American Legion Post No. 61 in Shoals and the Shoals Eagles.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. (Central time) Thursday at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals with Father Joseph F. Erbacher officiating. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery in Loogootee. Woody – Glenn D. Woody of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at his residence. Born August 28, 1919, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Leonard N. and Rose (Davis) Woody. He married Roberta Edwards, his high school sweetheart, on February 8, 1939, in Indianapolis, and she died February 10, 1995.

Surviving are children: James Woody, Jon Woody and wife Vicky, Joseph Woody and wife Becky, all of Bedford, IN; grandchildren, Bill and wife Robin, Jim, Tami Verbick and husband Jason, JoniSue Ryan and husband Matt, Darrin and wife Melissa, Robyn Armstrong and husband Kent, Blaine Parker and husband Miles, Jonathan and Alecia Woody; great-grandchildren: Jamie and daughter Aleia, Julia and Will Woody, Jesse and Luke Woody, Sam and Ileena Verbick, Heather Copeland, Adam, Brooke and Brianne Hill and Brooke, Owen and Jonah Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother, Robert Woody; and two sisters, Mary Wagner and Doris Umphress.

He retired from U.S. NAD Crane in 1976, with 34 years of service. He spent his retired years farming on Woody Farm Road, where he was born and raised. He was a 1939 graduate of Shawswick High School, veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre, and a member of the Leatherwood Christian Church.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford with the Rev. Sherman Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery with military rites accorded by Gillen Post No. 33 of the American Legion. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Young – Helen Young, 78, Mitchell died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born July 2, 1927, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of George and Roxie (Williams) Blackwell. She married Ralph K. Young on Dec. 29, 1945, and he died June 29, 2005.

Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Avril Young, Bedford, IN; grandsons, Randy Young and wife Robin and Brandon Senger, both of Mitchell, IN; a sister, Virginia Mongold, Mitchell, IN; one brother, Denzil G. Blackwell, Mitchell, IN; and great-grandchildren, Clayton and Chloe Young. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Monta Sue Senger; and one son, Randall Young.

She was a homemaker and a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 4th, at Chastain Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
