Graves – Mary (Chastain) Elliott Graves of Bedford, IN, died January 29, 2006, at her residence. Born November 23, 1945, in Edmonson Co., KY, she was the daughter of O. Jasper and Jessie (Ashley) Chastain. She married Howard “Doodad” Elliott on July 17, 1985 and he died on October 23, 1986. She married Terry Gordon Graves on November 23, 1996 and he survives.

Mary was very devoted to her family and friends and time spent with her extended family and beloved pets was precious time to her. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Ann Kopp of Greenwood, IN; one grandson, Christopher Kopp, (who resided with Mary and Terry); one granddaughter, Jessi Kopp of Bedford; step-children include Shannon Endris and her husband, Marty and Landon Graves all of Bedford; step-grandchildren are Eliza, Van and Dain Endris of Bedford and Allaina Feldman-Graves of Wichita, KS; two sisters, Phyllis Baker of Bedford and Barbara McCullough and her husband, Mack of Heltonville; one brother, Jeff Chastain of Bedford; nieces and nephews include Kelly Mynett and her husband, Rob of Muncie, Kathy Crulo, Karen Crulo-Rood and her husband, Rob all of Bedford and Sally Jackson of Franklin, IN; Shawn McCollum and her husband, Nelson, Darin McCullough and his wife, Angie all of Heltonville and Emily Chastain of Bedford; grand nieces and nephews are Jessie Mynett of Muncie, Nick and Sam Crulo, J.T. Ernst, Allie and Gracie Rood and from Bedford and Jake and Sara Jackson of Franklin, IN, Clayton and Carson McCollum and Morgan, Corbin and Conner McCullough all of Heltonville; her step-mother, Priscilla Chastain; one step-brother, Joe Greene; one step-sister, Rita Martin; sister-in-law, Sandy Arthur and her husband, Rob and nieces and nephews, Tyler and Chelsey Younger, Aimee Hirtz, Sally Cheek, Shane McFadden, Tessa Kelly and Cami Holt. Considered as part of her extended family are special friends, Warren and Sandi Hudson, Loren and Nancy Roberts and Cinda Todd. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and beloved brother-in-law, Rodney Baker.

Mary was employed at the Edgewood Clinic as an insurance supervisor for seventeen years and later worked in the office of Dr. Eugene Dmytryk. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 1st, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Milliken – Roberta Rae Millikan of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, January 29, 2006, at White River Lodge, Bedford. Born September 26, 1942, in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of Robert Royce and Reba (Reynolds) McGee. She married L. Wayne Millikan December 30, 1961, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters,Kimberly Renee Mills and husband, Steve, of Bristol, WI, and Theresa Lemons and husband, John, of Mitchell, IN; one son, Tim Millikan and wife, Shari, of Springville, IN; her mother, Reba Smothers, of Warsaw, IN; her father, Robert Royce McGee, of Merrillville, IN; two sisters, Sharon Hilton and husband, Leon, of Lansing, MI, and Judy Kalajian and husband, Chris, of Schererville, IN; grandchildren: Dustin, Jacob, and Aubrey Mills, Bert, Desirae, and Lydia Lemons, Cory and Jesse Millikan.

She had been a customer service representative for Whirlpool and was last employed as auditor at Spring Mill Inn.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1st, at Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Bundy officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Webster – R. Douglas Webster of Bedford, IN, Sunday, January 29, 2006, at his residence. Born Aug. 30, 1954 in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Rex O. and Helen M. (Moser) Webster. He married Darlene Inman on May 28, 1987, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are a stepson, Adrian Louden; one stepdaughter, Mylinda Skimehorn and husband Timmy; two step-grandchildren: Elli Chandler and Noah Skimehorn, all of Madisonville, KY; maternal grandmother, Ruth Moser, of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Treva Williams, Sharon Hensley and Susan Webster; one brother, Mark Webster; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents; and maternal grandfather.

He was the coordinator for Occupational Health & Safety Program at Bedford Regional Medical Center; worked for 18 years at Regal-Beloit in Mitchell and was an EMT at Dunn Memorial Hospital for 18 years. He was a 1972 graduate of Bedford High School, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a past member of both the Shawswick Township and Pleasant Run Township Volunteer Fire Departments, a past reserve officer for the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and a member of the Mitchell Kiwanis Club.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 2nd, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in White River Baptist Cemetery in Buddha. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford. Memorial contributions may be considered to the Lawrence County Patient Services for Cancer Patients or the Phi Beta Psi Sorority for Cancer Research.

Barlowe – Elizabeth L. Barlow of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born February 25, 1939, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Francis and Hazel (Ritchey) Daugherty. She married Herbert D. Barlow and he died in 1997.

Surviving are one son, Paul Eugene Barlow of Springville, IN; one daughter, Tracy Lynn Barlow, of Bedford, IN; one grandchild, Justin Barlow, of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Anna Mae Henderson and Mary Frances Cassidy, both of Bedford, IN; one brother, David Leonard Daugherty, of Bedford, IN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Banks and Jeanette Poff; and three brothers: Wayne and George Daugherty, and Paul Anthony, in infancy.

She retired as a Nurse Tech with Bedford Regional Medical Center after 28 years of employment. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Springville Methodist Cemetery (West). Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford.

Beavers – Rita Kay Beavers of Bedford, IN, died Monday, January 23, 2006, at her residence. Born July 21, 1940, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Kenneth L. and Charlene (Wright) Howell. She married Larry Don Beavers on July 19, 1959, and he died in 1997.

Surviving are one daughter, Susan French and her husband, Tony of Bedford, IN; one sister, Ann Cummings and her husband, John of Bedford, IN; one brother, Tom Howell and his wife, Sue of Seymour, IN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Sue Pritchett.

She was a homemaker and attended the Donica Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 26th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Kendall Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dive Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 25th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Davidson – Dr. Ernest W. Davidson, 87, Bedford, died Tuesday, January 23, 2006, at Bloomington Hospital. Born March 30, 1918, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Ernest W. Davidson Sr. and Lucille (Mercer) Davidson. He married Nancy Upham and she survives.

Surviving with his wife of 48 years are two sons, Mark Davidson and wife Teri of Los Angeles, CA, and Scott Davidson and wife, Dawn, of Fishers, IN; three grandsons: Harry Davidson, Eric Davidson and Jack Davidson; one niece and three nephews.

He was a retired dentist having practiced in Bedford and also having an Orthodontic practice in Lebanon. He was a graduate of the Indiana University School of Dentistry.

There will be no service or visitation. Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington is in charge of the arrangements.

Giles – Gloria R. Giles of Bedford, IN, died Monday, January 23, 2006, at her residence. Born September 21, 1939, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Clyde and Damaris (Humphrey) Winingham. She married Jack L. Giles on Oct. 16, 1965, in Lawrence County, IN, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Mary Dee Kern and husband, Dean, of Bedford, IN; one sister-in-law, Jill A. Smith and husband, Mike, of Bedford, IN; four nieces and one nephew.

She was a retired obstetrics nurse from Dunn Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Leatherwood Christian Church and the Leatherwood Ludeans.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 26th, at the Leatherwood Christian Church. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the church. Henderson – Helen Catherine Henderson of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, January 23, 2006, at Hospitality House, Bedford. Born September 16, 1913, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Harley J. and Dovie Mae (Phillips) Alexander. She married Stanley Henderson August 17, 1929, and he died July 17, 1986.

Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn J. Robinson and husband, Dale, of Oolitic, IN; one son, Alan "Joe" Henderson and wife, Faye, of Coshocton, OH; two sisters, Ruth Arnold, of Mitchell, IN, and Dorotha Nave, of Lexington, KY; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Lucille Alexander; and brother, Robert Alexander.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Solsberry Order of Eastern Star No. 547, White Shrine, Forty & Eight, and American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 27th, at Chastain Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Kirkman officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be conducted by Solsberry Order of Eastern Star No. 547 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Hack – Frank Hack of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, January 22, 2006, at Hospitality House, Bedford. Born September 28, 1932, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of William McKinley and Lela Mae (Mustain) Hack. He married Yvonne "Lonnie" Mullins March 8, 1953, and she died June 9, 2001.

Surviving are one son, Kinley Hack of Bedford, IN; one brother, Kenneth Hack and his wife, Sue, of Bedford, IN; nieces and nephews: Lori (Jim) Sanders, Susan (Gary) Johnson, Kevin (Julie) Hack, Anthony Hack, Don (Belinda) Fender, Patty (Wayne) Raines, Naomi (Charlie) Goodrich, Brenda (Darrell) Price, Marla Clark, Mike (Cathy) Albertson; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; sisters, Gladys Fender and Wanda Albertson; and a brother, Ralph Hack.

He retired from Mitchell Crushed Stone and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Mitchell First Church of God.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 25th, at the First Church of God with Pastors Chad McIntosh and Kenny Bundy officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Shook – Leoma (Lee) M. Shook of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, January 22, 2006, at the White River Lodge in Bedford. Born January 19, 1928 in Greene County, IN, she was the daughter of Dewey and Florence (Rose) Williams. She married Gordon W. Shook on June 26, 1949 and he died on February 26, 1982.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Jill Lee and her husband, Curt of Bedford, IN; Lee Ann Reed and her husband, Shannon of Orleans, IN; six grandchildren: Danie Norris of Blooomfield, IN, Tiffany Moody of Vincennes, IN, Brent Taylor of Bedford, IN, Kasey Franklin of Indianapolis, Brandon Taylor of Springville, IN, and Chelsea Lee of Bedford, IN; five great-grandchildren: Alexia Taylor, Jetta Norris, Maya Norris, Caleb Norris and Haley Norris; one brother, Donald Williams of Cloverdale, IN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Dean Williams.

She was a homemaker and had been employed at Mill’s Market deli dept. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Red Rose Circle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 25th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Revs. Bob and Leila Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Smith – Timothy A. Smith of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, January 22, 2006, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born August. 13, 1952, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Robert Eugene and Maxine (Connell) Smith.

Surviving are his mother, Maxine Smith Miller of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Genia King and her husband Vincent of Mitchell, IN; one nephew, Brayden King and his wife Sharon of Bedford, IN; one niece, Bethany New and her husband Bill of Mitchell, IN; and two great nephews, Landon and Leo New. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Smith, and step-father, Dennis R. Miller.

He was a 1970 graduate of Mitchell High School where he was a member of the varsity basketball team that won the sectional during the 1969-70 season. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Sons of the Legion at the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Haverly Mortuary with the Rev. Mark Pittman officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Perry – Joseph L. “Joe” Perry of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, January 21, 2006, as a result of an accident in Johnson County, IN. Born Sept. 16, 1967, in Bedford, he was the son of Richard L. and Esther Irene (Freeman) Perry. He married Lillie M. Brock Sept. 23, 1995, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Glenna Lynne Perry; a son, Andrew Christopher Perry of Bedford, IN; sisters: Anna M. Smeltzer and husband Rick, of Freedom, IN, Mary G. Jerrells and husband Laddie, of Williams, IN, Martha A. Davis and husband John, of Spencer, IN, Sarah J. Jones and husband Kevin, of Springville, IN; brothers: David L. Perry and wife Ada, of Twelve Mile, IN, Daniel R. Perry, Sam C. Perry and wife Penny, Mark S. Perry and wife Lu and Jim Perry and wife Lisa, all of Bedford, IN; his father- and mother-in-law, Hobert and Lillie Mae Brock, of Spearsville, IN; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Claborn and Grace Perry; maternal grandparents, Ben and Marie Freeman.

A 1986 graduate of Owen Valley High School in Spencer, he was employed by Indiana Limestone and was also employed by Brock Enterprises for the past 10 years. Prior to that he worked in grocery retail as a produce and dairy manager in several grocery stores. He attended Faith Mission Church in Bedford and was a member of Adams Street Chapel in Bloomington where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and usher. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 8093 in Oolitic.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 25th, at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation & Personalization Center, Morgantown, with the Rev. Leonard Sankey officiating. Watson – Richard Lee Watson of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, January 21, 2006, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on March 18, 1939, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Noble Watson and Bernice (Ward) Watson. He married Imogene (Andis) Watson and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are two brothers: Robert Watson and his wife, Ella of Clearwater, FL and Larry Watson and his wife, Judith of Bedford, IN; two sisters: Dorothy Dick and Carolyn Watson Jones, both of Bloomington, IN; nieces and nephews: Keith Dick of Columbus, IN, Steven Dick of Englewood, FL, Mary Ann Anderson of Clearwater, FL, Carrie Nash of Clearwater, FL, Reva Deckard of Bloomington, IN, Karen Watson of Bedford, IN, Kathy Gilbert of Greenwood, IN, Scott Tirey of Mitchell, IN, and Cindy Ludlow of Columbus, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters: Sara Tirey and Linda Watson.

He was a graduate of Needmore High School in the class of 1957. He worked at Publicks Auto Parts and was a member of Guthrie Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 25th from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with George Sites officiating. Burial will follow in Hays Cemetery. Phillips – Linda Kay Phillips of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, January 20, 2006, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Born May 27, 1952, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Milton "Smokey" and Gletas E. (Blackwell) Lynch. She married Steven E. Phillips November 16, 1970, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Mistee May of Mitchell, IN; twin granddaughters, Lindsey and Makenzie May, of Mitchell, IN; sisters: Margaret Brock of Bloomington, IN, Connie Phillips and her husband, Danny, of Shoals, IN; and Nancy Baker and her husband, Joe, of Mitchell, IN; brothers, John Lynch and his wife, Kim, and Brian Lynch, all of Orleans, IN; her father, Milton "Smokey" Lynch, of Bloomington, IN. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gletas E. Smith, and one sister, Matilda Lynch.

She had been employed at General Electric in Bloomington. She was a member of Carters Creek Christian Church and a 1970 graduate of Mitchell High School.

Sumpter – William H. Sumpter of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Bloomington Hospital. He was born on February 17, 1936.

Surviving are one son, Tim Sumpter of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Rhonda Carter, Letonia, AR, and Lisa Nelson of Haysville, KS; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three brothers: Sam, Eugene and Dale Sumpter, all of Arkansas; one sister, Shirley Chandler of Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.

He was a construction welder and a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Monday morning at the Clearwater Missionary Baptist Church in Searcy, AR. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery in Searcy. The Searcy McEuen Funeral home in Searcy is in charge of the arrangements in Arkansas. Local arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Bowden – Jennifer Kay Bowden of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Born November 9, 1991, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Kevin Scott and Roxanna Lee (Melton) Bowden.

Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Roxanna and Kevin Cleek of Mitchell, IN; her father and stepmother, Kevin Scott and Robin Bowden of Mitchell, IN; brothers, Justin and Timmy Bowden of Mitchell, IN; sister, Carrie Bell of Springville, IN; stepbrother, Jordan Fultz of Mitchell, IN; grandparents, Karon Archer, Cecil and Nancy Melton, Jerry and Sharon Bowden, aRussell and Connie Edmonson, all of Mitchell, IN; and great-grandmother, Blanche Bowden of Mitchell, IN.

She was a student at Englewood School and attended Tulip Street Christian Church.

Lefever – Jewell M. Lefever of Leesville,IN, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at her residence. Born Sept. 2, 1931, in Koleen (Greene County), IN, she was the daughter of Jewett and Clara (Pilk) Mullis. She married Walter Lefever Jr. Feb. 14, 1978 in Reno, NV, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one son, Darrell Brown and wife, Nancy, of Leesville, IN; a step-daughter, Nicole Carollo and husband, George, of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren: David Wesley Brown of Indianapolis, Gavin M. Brown of Oolitic, IN, Samantha S. Brown, Orlando, FL, Stephanie L. Brown of Leesville, IN, and Claire S. Carollo, Sacramento, CA; three great-grandchildren: Zachary Brown, Gunner Brown and Gracie Brown; one sister, Nina Whitaker of Somerset, KY; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Connie Hawk, Audrey Dye and Avis Mullis; two brothers: Max Mullis and Willard Mullis; and one grandchild, Rosalia Carollo.

She and her husband managed a Motel 6 in Sacramento, Calif.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 20th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford with the Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Ashcraft Chapel Cemetery at Koleen. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Mitchell – Mabel L. Mitchell of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at the Hospitality House. Born October 21, 1922 in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Hovie and Lula Mae (Baker) Kern. She married Chester C. Mitchell and he preceded her in death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Olive and Pauline; four brothers: Glen, Tommy, Wendall and Von.

She formerly was employed at Wamp’s Restaurant and Hobby’s Inn in Bedford and was a member of the Old Union Christian Church.

Clephane – Lisa Rae Clephane of Bedford, IN, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at her residence. Born December 7, 1966, in Grand Forks, SD, she was the daughter of Dearl “Dave” Runyan and Irene (Dunn) Rosenbaum. She married Mark D. Clephane on December 4, 2004 and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters: Rachelle Clephane of Clarksville, TN, Lindsey Johnson and Kirstin Clephane, both of Bedford, IN; two sons, Zachary Johnson and Ryan Clephane, both of Bedford, IN; her parents, Dearl Runyan and Irene Rosenbaum; one sister, Ashley Renee Runyan of Bedford, IN; her maternal grandmother, Betty Dunn of Michigan; her step-mother, Elaine Runyan of Bedford, IN; two step-brothers and one step-sister. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Raymond D. and Betty C. Runyan; her maternal grandfather, Hayden J. Dunn, and one sister, Leslie Runyan.

She was a licensed practical nurse and previous director of Practice Management at Dunn Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Indiana Nursing Assoc. and a published author. She co-authored the book entitled “Effects of 9/11 on Corporate America”.

Gilstrap – Doris Marie Gilstrap of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at her residence. Born May 17, 1931, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Alva and Helen (Bundy) Wagner. She married Harold G. "Monk" Gilstrap September 1, 1948, and he died February 26, 1997.

Surviving are children: Brenda Allen of Beloit, WI, Robert G. Gilstrap of Mitchell, IN, Ray E. Gilstrap of Bedford, IN, and Joe S. Gilstrap of Owensburg, IN; brothers, Robert "Bob" Wagner of Bedford, IN, and Jerry Wagner of Mitchell, IN; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Bride of Christ Fellowship.

Kopp – Lillian Margaret Kopp of Bedford, IN, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born July 27, 1915, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Henry and Stella (Hickman) Bledsoe. She was married to Louis Marvin “Pete” Kopp on July 22, 1939, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church by the Rev. Paul Utz. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2005.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda Ann Fitzpatrick of Bedford, IN; one son, Charles Edward “Bud” Kopp and wife, Vickie, of Bedford, IN; grandchildren: Mike Fitzpatrick and wife, Jody, of Floyds Knobs, IN, Kelly Blackburn and husband, Jay, of Mitchell, IN, Scott Kopp of Bedford, IN, Susan Vest and husband, Tim, of Spencer, IN, and Andrea Pemberton and husband, Paul, of Bedford, IN; great-grandchildren: Christopher Kopp, Jessi Kopp, Dalton Vest, Cody Vest, Jay Pemberton, Lane Pemberton, Ally Rae Pemberton, Shawn Fitzpatrick, Mary Ann Fitzpatrick, Jacob Blackburn and Caleb Blackburn; sisters, Imogene Jones of Bedford, IN, and Catherine Burton of Indianapolis, IN: one brother, Clint Bledsoe, Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Charles and Raymond Bledsoe; and one sister, Bernice O'Brien.

She retired from M. Fine & Company in 1981 after 35 years of employment. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bedford, the Altar Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society and the John Wallace Chapter, NSDAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).

Wood – Ruth Mundy Wood, of Bedford, IN, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born April 10, 1912, in Martin County, IN, near Huron, IN, she was the daughter of Freely and Sophia (Bridges) Mundy. She married Charles A. Wood on June 4, 1954, and he died in 1982.

Surviving are four nieces: Eleanor Mundy and Joyce Mundy of Bedford, IN, Janet Smith of Huntington, IN, and Patricia Bays of Ocala, FL; seven nephews: Douglas Mundy of Columbus, IN, Sam Mundy, Graydon Mundy and Gordon Mundy, all of Bedford, IN, Gary Mundy of Mitchell, IN, Stanley Mundy or Orleans, IN, and Martin Mundy of Williams, IN; and one sister-in-law, Evalou (Wood) Roach of Mitchell, IN. Other survivors include several cousins, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Ernest, Hilard, Elmer and Raymond.

She had worked at restaurants in Shoals and Burns City, and was a clerk at J.C. Penney’s in Bedford. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church and the Huron WTK Club. In earlier life, she was a member of the Huron Baptist Church.

Collins – Marion J. Collins of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, January 12, 2006, at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford. She was born on December 17, 1913. She married Bert Collins, and he survives.

Surviving are her husband are three daughters: Sally Collins and fiancé Bill Van Tine, Linda Raab and husband James, and Mary Ohl; and three grandchildren, Amber, Mark and Luke Ohl.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Eagan – Timothy Egan of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, January 12, 2006, at his residence. Born October 9, 1987, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Timothy and Sherrie (King) Egan, and they survive.

Surviving with his parents are one sister, Kayla Egan of Mitchell, IN; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Janice King of Mitchell; paternal grandfather and step-grandmother Claude and Frances Egan of Martinsville, IN; aunts and uncles including Rob and Gretchen King of Bloomington, IN, Dave and Teresa Jones of Bedford, IN, Debbie and David Chandler of Smithville, IN, Rick and Kay Bennett of Ellettsville, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Wilma Egan Dupee; and one aunt, Cathy Egan Spinks.

He was a Mitchell High School senior, and also worked part-time at Speedway at 37 and 50 junction. He was a member of SADD at Mitchell High School; he had also been involved with the Mitchell Varsity Singers, and was a former member of the Mitchell Wrestling team.

Harrell – Alan Harrell of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, January 12, 2006, at his residence. Born March 29, 1949, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Robert and Marcella (Armstrong) Harrell. He married Penny Beaver on Sept. 11, 1972, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters: Jessica Hunter and her husband Richard of Heltonville, IN, Jennifer Harrell, Bedford, IN, and Julie Dillman and her husband John of Williams, IN; and four grandchildren: Gage Perkins and Taylor Hunter, both of Heltonville, IN, and Colton Caraway and Alexis Dillon, both of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert “Bobby” Harrell Jr.

He was retired from Raytheon in California and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Hawkins – Sandra Kay Hawkins of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at her residence. Born on July 7, 195, she was the daughter of Harry and Roberta I. (Covey) Maddox. She married Kent Hawkins in 1971, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one son, Justin Hawkins and his wife, Shauna; one daughter, Misty Dawn Johnson and her husband, Dustin; two grandsons, Trace Allen and Lane Roger; one granddaughter, Jeslyn Kay; her mother, Roberta; one brother, Ronnie Wayne Maddox. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry; one brother, Phillip Michael; her maternal grandparents, Dras and Ollie Covey; her paternal grandparents, Cletus and Lessie Maddox.

She graduated from Shawswick High School and worked for several years with Indiana Bell Telephone. She was employed with the North Lawrence School System as a librarian for Parkview Primary for fourteen years and was appointed as the Chief Matron of the Lawrence County Security Center.

Pridemore – Roxanne Pridemore of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at her home. Born November 12, 1945, in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, IN, she was the daughter of Richard Ira and Doris Jean (Coleman) Hart. She married Robert M. Pridemore Jr. on August 9, 1980, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters: Lisa D. (Neeley) Stevens and her husband Donald of Mitchell, IN, Melanie K. (Neely) Ernst and her husband Jimmy of Bedford, IN, and Cynthia D. (Neely) Demaree and her husband Greg of Versailles, IN; one sister, Valerie G. (Hart ) Srivastava of Garland, TX; four grandchildren: Amber Hardwick of Terre Haute, IN, Katelyn Austin and J.T. Ernst, both of Bedford, IN, and Shelby Sons of Mitchell, IN; two nephews, Ajay and Shaun Srivastava, both of Garland, TX; one niece, Cheryl Moore of Seymour, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, R. Kay Silvers.

She was a valued employee with Herthel Law Office for 16 years. She graduated in 1963 from Bedford High School. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Bedford.

Freeman – Rex A. Freeman of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at Bloomington Hospital. Born August 10, 1927, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Ellis Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Chapman) Freeman. He married Roberta Jean Grimes November 25, 1950, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are sons, C. Mark Freeman and wife, Ila, of Mitchell, IN, and Randolph Albert Freeman, of Chicago, IL; one daughter, Gail Elizabeth Miller and husband, Martin, of Mitchell, IN; sisters, Vera Wagoner and Velma Dorsett, both of Bedford, IN, Virginia Atchison and Violet Bowers, both of Indianapolis; brother, John Freeman of Bedford, IN; grandchildren: Ray Sexton, Matt Miller, Eric Miller, Cody Freeman; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Roy and Robert Freeman.

He graduated from Huron High School in 1945, and retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center–Crane. He was a real estate broker and had delivered school buses for Ann Watterson and Ralph and Martha Hollars. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250. He was a member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church, and a former member of the Mitchell-Grissom Kiwanis Club.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 13, in the Mitchell Wesleyan Church with Reverend Steve Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Lively – Xavier Alan Lively, infant son of Joshua and Randi (George) Lively of Bedford, IN, was stillborn January 10, 2006, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.

Adamson – Paul David “P.D.” Adamson of Greenwood, IN, died January 7, 2006. He was born on October 19, 1937, in Fayetteville, IN. He married Judy Buck in 1960, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are his mother and stepfather, Frances and Richard Pauls of Franklin, IN; two daughters, Erin Heiling and her husband Chas of North Fond du Lac, WI, and Jill Adamson of Greenwood, IN; one brother, J. Douglas Adamson and his wife Ronda of Bethseda, MD; one sister, Deanna Yount and her husband Stewart of Greenwood, IN; two grandchildren, David and Michael Heiling of Wisconsin; two nieces and a nephew; great-nephews Colt and Dylan and great-niece, Brittani Frye, all of Bethseda, MD; special aunt, Annabelle Brinegar of Indianapolis; and uncle, Robert Adamson of Bedford.

He attended school in Bedford and graduated from Mitchell High School, with a scholarship to Franklin College from Arvin Industries. He graduated in 1958 with a degree in elementary education, later completing a master's from Indiana University. He began teaching in Franklin in 1958.

After marrying Judy Buck in 1960, they moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1962, and later returned to Franklin in 1963. He and Judy lived at the Indiana Masonic Home for three years as cottage parents for the boys' cottage.

He was a teacher at Southwest Elementary School in the Greenwood Community School Corporation, where he eventually became principal at Northeast Elementary in 1971. Except for two years (1978-1980), when he was employed at the Department of Education, he remained principal until his retirement in 1992. After retiring, he continued working for Greenwood Schools as a substitute principal. He also had returned to Franklin College as an adjunct professor, and became an instructor for Arvin in industrial training. He coached his students at Southside, as well as being assistant director, and later became a director for the Franklin Boys Club from 1957-1962. He served on the Greenwood School Board, and also chaired and co-chaired other education-related advisory boards and panels. He was also involved in the Franklin Junior Chamber of Commerce, Hillview Country Club board of directors, past president of the Greenwood Rotary Club, The Johnson County Principals Association, the National Bank of Greenwood, Community Outreach Council, the Ben Franklin Society, Franklin College Alumni council, and the National Association of Elementary School Principals. He was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 107 F. & A.M. He was also a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge No. 1818. He was a member of the Center Grove Presbyterian Church since 1999. He was a member of the choir, and was elected to the board of deacons.

There will be a memorial service in his honor at the Center Grove Presbyterian Church, 2340 South State Rod 3 35, Greenwood, on Saturday, January 14th, at 2:30 p.m. Calling for friends will take place at 1:30 p.m. Please bring along any stories or memories and be ready to share the laughter and joy that will continue to be inspired by the life of P.D. Charles – Mary F. Charles of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on March 19, 1926, in Williams, IN, she was the daughter of Wendell V. McClung and Lena (McFarlin) McClung. She married William “Ed” Charles on April 13, 1946, and he died May 18, 2005.

Surviving are two daughters: Linda Endris and her husband, Carl, of Indianapolis, and Donna Lea Kast of Oolitic, IN; four sons: John Charles and his wife, Donna of Greenwood, IN, William Charles and his wife, Denisee Stamps of Bloomington, IN, James Scott Charles and his wife, Christie and Jeffrey David Charles and his wife, Karen all of Bedford, IN; one sister: Carol Williams of Camby, IN; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband; one son: Thomas Edward Charles; and one brother: Guy McClung who died in WW. II.

She was a housewife and had worked for the North Lawrence School Administration in the Lunch Program. She was a member of the Southland Church of Christ and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Gilbert – David E. Gilbert of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, January 7, 2006, at his residence. Born January 13, 1948, in Loogootee, IN, he was the son of Elmer Leo Gilbert and Ellen Smith Blake. He married Etta Trowbridge November 15, 1969, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Samuel David Gilbert and his companion, Robbie Morgan of Springville, IN; two daughters, Ellen May and her husband Dion of Needmore, IN, and Joy Kern and her husband Dana of Bedford, IN; three brothers: Cletus Gilbert of Mitchell, IN, John Gilbert of Montgomery, IN, and Bobby Gilbert of Loogootee, IN; one sister, Hazel Pemberton of Mitchell, IN; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.

He was employed at RCA in Bloomington for 27 years, at Sunrise Greetings for five years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of SP4 during the Vietnam War.

Edwards – Betty L. Edwards of Ellettsville, IN, died Thursday, January 5, 2006, at the Bloomington Hospital. Born May 18, 1940 in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Andrew and Juanita (Lewis) Hearth. She married Donald R. Edwards on March 26, 1965, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Steven Edwards of Ellettsville, IN, and Allen Edwards of Bloomington, IN; one daughter, Kathleen Edwards of Bloomington, IN; three grandchildren: Timothy, Matthew and Heather Arthur; one brother, Larry Hearth of Bloomington, IN; one sister-in-law, Doretta Hearth of Bloomington, IN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Daniel Warren Edwards; one brother, Jerry Hearth; and one sister, Mary Hearth.

Born July 23, 1919, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Karl and Renilda (Diedreich) Scherschel. She married Jerry Phillips August 17, 1942, and he died on February 24, 1991.

She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1937. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; St. Vincent's church choir, Altar Society and Ladies of Columbus. She was a homemaker.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 5th, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic church of Bedford, with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home of Bedford, with Rosary to be prayed at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Watterson – Ann Grace Watterson of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, January 2, 2006, at her residence. Born August 16, 1925, in Mount Sterling, KY, she was the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Calvert) Curry. She married Robert O. Watterson December 21, 1941, and he died October 29, 1984.

Surviving are three children, Ronald W. Watterson and his wife Deloris of Mitchell, IN, Kenneth Lee Watterson and his wife Cheryl of Granger, IN, and Cindy G. Gilbert and her fiancé Ron Walton of Mitchell, IN; her faithful friend, Don Tolliver of Mitchell, IN; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers: Henry, Bill and Paul Curry and Eddie Wayne Stamatis; and one granddaughter, Terri Lynn Watterson.

She managed the Mitchell License Branch for 10 years, was an Avon representative, delivered school buses for Carpenter Body Works, and since 1991, had been the receptionist for Head Start. She was a member of the First Baptist church and the Lawrence County Republican Club. She was a former chairman and member of the Hoosier Uplands board of directors.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the church.
