Allgood – Robert Allgood of Bedford, IN, died Friday, December 31, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born May 27, 1947, in Bloomington, IN, he was the son of Robert, Sr. and Helen Mae (Thacker) Allgood. He married Maxine Prince on December 2, 1980, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are his parents of Bloomington, IN; two sons, Robert Allgood III and his wife, Cherrie, of Fresno, CA, and Nicholas Allgood of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Clarissa Allgood of Bloomington, IN; one step-son, Stephen Prince and his wife, Marie, of Heltonville, IN; two step-daughters, Kathy Halstead and her husband, Bob, of Ft. Ritner, IN, and Cheryl Norman and her husband, Tony, of Bedford, IN; one sister, Sharon Hayden and her husband, Jerry, of Bloomington, IN; one brother, Mike Allgood and his wife, Judy, of Ellettsville, IN; eleven grandchildren: Jerry Allgood, Rose Marie Allgood, Robyn Allgood, Abigail Allgood, Anna Pemberton, Tonya Cunningham, Teresa Sons, Troy Carter, Tina McIntire, Tami Carter and Tanya Price; seventeen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Vicky Raper

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 5th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Farrell Sowder and the Rev. Kendall Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow in Hanson Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00- 8:00 pm on Tuesday and from 1:00 pm until the service time Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Byrum – Maxine Byrum of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, December 31, at Bloomington Hospital. Born April 28, 1929, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Noel and Hennie (Perry) Lawrence. She married Joseph Edward Byrum on November 22, 1947, and he died on May 18, 1997.

Surviving are one son, Joseph E. Byrum II and wife, Sandra, of Mitchell, IN; one daughter, Penny Jean Steely and husband, Glen, of Milford, OH; one sister, Rachel Burnette of Alexandria, LA; one brother, Pete Moore of Scottsville, KY; five granddaughters: Julia, Jennifer, Brooke, CaSandra, and Jamie; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Elizabeth Barrick.

She was a member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church and Mitchell Senior Citizens.

Services for Maxine Byrum will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 3rd, in the Mitchell Wesleyan Church with Pastors Stephen Jones, Wes Jones, and J. D. Gaines officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at Chastain Funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Monday at the church.

Dill – William Dill of Bedford, IN, died Friday, December 31, 2004, at his residence. Born on December 15, 1940, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Albert Dill and Marie (Carter) Gearhart. He married Marilyn Ward on June 12, 1962, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three sons: Mike, Tim and Greg Dill, all of Columbus, IN; one daughter, Dana Tinkey of Goshen, IN; one brother, Kenneth Dill of Columbus, IN; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

He was employed at Golden Foundry in Columbus, IN.

Graveside services for William Dill will be conducted at 1:15 pm Tuesday, January 4th, at Dive Cemetery with Pastor Donald Andreasen officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Dossen – Lucy J. Dossen of Bedford, IN, died Friday, December 31, 2004, at Westview Manor. Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Lee – Freeman Lee, Sr. of Bedford, IN, died Friday, December 31, 2004, at Dunn Hospital. Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Born January 5, 1917, in Oolitic, IN, he was the son of Abner and Allie (Miller) Lee. He married Mavis Hardwick and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Freeman W. Lee, Jr. of Florida; one sister, June Hatfield of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren: Terri Dixon of Bedford, IN, Randy Lee of Bedford, IN, Jon Lee of Florida, Sherlynn Rach of Bedford, IN, Lori Rigger of Oolitic, IN, Alex and Patrick Lee of Florida; sixteen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frieda Ennis and Flossie Sears; and three brothers: Fred, Floyd and Farrell Lee.

He was an ordinance man at NSWC CRANE, a veteran of WW II serving with the Army Air Force and a member of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 5th, at the Cresthaven Memory Gardens with Pastor Alan Reed officiating. Burial will follow with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday and from 9:00-10:30 am on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Marchettie – Valera Marchettie, 83, of Bedford, IN, died Friday, December 31, 2005, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born December 1, 1921, she was the daughter of Hobart Wheat and Katherine (Graves) Kern. She married Milo V. Marchetti on August 2, 1941, and he died September 4, 2000.

Surviving are one daughter, Diann Burton of Bedford, IN; one grandson, Marc Burton of Houston, TX; one granddaughter, Ann Marie Burton of Bedford, IN; and three great-grandchildren: Spencer, Alex and Hollie all of Bedford, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Harold Kern.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church, the Women’s Dept. Club and served in many civic related projects throughout her lifetime.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 5th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday and from 9:00 am until the service time on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Fisher – Brian Glen Fisher of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, December 30, 2004, at his residence. Born March 3, 1967, he was the son of Glen and Anna Caraway Fisher.

Surviving are his parents, Glen and Anna Caraway Fisher of Bedford, IN; and one son, Ryan Glen Fisher of Orleans, IN.

Services will be private, and there will be no visitation. Cresthaven Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Houchin – Brenda Houchin of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, December 30, 2004, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on November 20, 1950, in Bloomington, IN, she was the daughter of Bicel and Betty (Lucas) Brand. She married Richard L. Houchin December 31, 1970, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Brandy Van Hoy of Mitchell, IN; two sons, Chance Houchin and Cam Houchin, both of Mitchell, IN; her parents, Bicel and Betty Brand of Bloomington, IN; three brothers: Kevin Brand of Michigan, Dale Brand of Bloomington, IN, and Chris Brand of Mitchell, IN; and six grandchildren: Camissa, Sidney, Sadie, Savanna, Sayer, and Seaver. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Brand.

She was a graduate of Bloomington University High School and a received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Marion College. She was a member of Crossroads Community Church.

Services for Brenda Houchin will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 4th, at Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Ransom officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Johnson – Frances R. Kirk of Greenwood, IN, died Thursday, December 30, 2004, at the Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. Born January 12, 1927, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Madl) Rodler. She married William Russell Kirk on November 8, 1946, and he died on March 31, 2001.

Surviving are two daughters, Rosanne Gillispie of Indianapolis and Patti Ragsdale and her husband, Harry, of Tennessee; one son, William Kirk and his wife, Mary, of Greenfield, IN; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Loretta Stephens of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; and two sisters.

She had been employed at RCA in Indianapolis; and she was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 3, from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary of Bedford, with Father Jonathan Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery of Bedford. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday at the mortuary.

Kirk – Frances R. Kirk of Greenwood, IN, died on Thursday, December 30, 2004, at the Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. Born January 12, 1927, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Madl) Rodler. She married William Russell Kirk on November 8, 1946, and he died on March 31, 2001.

Surviving are two daughters, Rosanne Gillispie of Indianapolis and Patti Ragsdale and her husband, Harry, of Tennessee; one son, William Kirk and his wife, Mary of Greenfield, IN; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Stephens of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.

She had been employed at RCA in Indianapolis and was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, January 3rd at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford with Father Jonathan Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 2nd and from 9:00 am until 9:45 am on Monday at The Day & Carter Mortuary. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Sunday with Sister Joan Luerman officiating.

Bottorff – Robert E. Bottorff of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at the Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born June 7, 1922, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Cecil and Flossie (Lee-Sears) Bottorff. He married Alma Godsey on May 24, 1941, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Robert Bottorff and his wife, Mary Janice, of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Carol Spaulding of Bedford, IN; four grandsons: John Spaulding II and his wife, Pam, of Albany, GA, James Spaulding and his wife, Joanne, of Bedford, IN, Tim Bottorff and his wife, Jodi, of Bloomington, IN, and Matt Bottorff and his wife, Amy, of Conroe, TX; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Sears and his wife, Marci; two sisters, Janice Wagoner and her husband, Bobby, and Betty Reuter and her husband, Don; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death one sister, Barbara Alhorn.

He was a retired supervisor at Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane and had worked for the Bedford North Lawrence School system. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of the National Guard and the Englewood Baptist Church. He had been a youth leader, trustee and a Sunday School teacher at Springville Methodist Church. He was a member of the CCC at Spring Mill State Park.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 31st, at the Day & Carter Mortuary of Bedford with the Rev. David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the service time Friday at the mortuary.

Roach – Norman M. Roach of East Oolitic, IN, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at his residence. He was born on June 9, 1955. He married Joyce Ireland, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are his mother, Ida Campbell Frank of Vero Beach, FL; two sisters, Theresa Bibo of Vero Beach, FL, and Sarah Surface of Houston.

He was currently disabled; and he had formerly worked as a truck driver.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 5th, at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norman Roach family in care of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Roberts – Olive Geneva (Brown) Roberts died Tuesday, December 28, 2004. The daughter of Walter and Grace A. (Jones) Brown, she was born May 9, 1909, at Elkinsville (Brown Co.), IN. She married Thomas Nelson Roberts on May 9, 1942, in Oolitic, IN, and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband.

She graduated from Elkinsville Grade School and Nashville High School in Brown County and a two-year Elementary course from Central Normal College in Danville, IN. She taught school in the elementary grades for eleven years in Brown, Monroe, Greene and Lawrence Counties. She was a member of Indiana Retired Teachers’ Assoc. and taught junior and adult Sunday School classes. She was a member of the Hilltop Pentecostal Church.

Services for Olive Roberts will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 31st, at the Hilltop Pentecostal Church in Avoca with the Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10:00 am until the service time Friday at the Hilltop Pentecostal Church.

Chappell – Patricia A. Chappell of Bedford, IN, died Monday, December 27, 2004, at the Stone Bridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born on August 1, 1924, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Chester and Vivian (Warner) Gould. She married John Chappell and he died in February 1997.

Surviving are one daughter, Suzanne Walker of Bedford, IN; two sons, Greg Poole of Pensacola, FL, and Steve Poole of Bedford, IN; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Lisherness of California; and one brother, Jerry Gould of Bedford, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, David Patrick Poole.

She was a homemaker and an active member of the Hillcrest Christian Church in Bedford.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 30th, at Beech Grove Cemetery with Pastor Gary Cornwell officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 am until 2:45 pm on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Fisher – Linda D. (Bridges) Fisher of Bedford, IN, died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on October 11, 1947. She married Joseph Andrew Fisher, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Tammy Thomas of Bedford, IN; four grandchildren; and one brother, Frank Walker of Mitchell, IN.

She was a homemaker.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30th, at Dive Cemetery of Bedford. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home of Bedford, and no visitation is scheduled.

Bolton – Ruth L. Bolton of Bedford, IN, died on Sunday, December 26, 2004, at the Bloomington Hospital. Born on November 1, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Charlie and Della (Edwards) Lynn. She married Emery H. Bolton on April 25, 1943, and he died February 10, 2001.

Surviving are one son, Emery “Buddy” Bolton and his wife, Kathy of Mitchell, IN; one daughter, Della Ann Jones and her husband, Marlen, of Bedford, IN; five granddaughters: Shandi Simons of Indianapolis, Tiffany Corbin of Bedford, IN, Lyndi Bolton of Indianapolis, Kathy Haile of Winchester, KY and Karen Johnson of Mitchell, IN; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clovis Lynn of Bloomington, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Lorena Spinks; and three brothers: Menlo, Ezra and Raymond Lynn.

She was retired from GM Powertrain in Bedford. She was a member of the Mitchell First Baptist Church and U.A.W. Local 440.

Services for Ruth Bolton will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 29th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Millard Jones and Joe Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Duggins – Verle Duggins of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born on July 17, 1923, in Jackson County, IN, she was the daughter of Roy E. and Ruth A. (Lutes) Davis.

Surviving are one daughter, JoAnn Powell and her husband, David, of Mitchell, IN; two grandchildren, Robert Powell and wife, Stephanie, of Loogootee, IN, and Shannon Elliott and husband, Ryan, of Indianpolis; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jewell Canada of Indianapolis; three nieces: Sheila Conder of Terre Haute, IN, Susan Vogel of Broomfield, CO, and Judy Fraps of Indianapolis; and one nephew, John Canada of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin R. Davis, and one sister, Fern Hatfield.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a retired beautician.

Yeary – Delphia Irene Yeary of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at the White River Lodge. Born on October 24, 1914, in Norman, IN, she was the daughter of John and Stella B. (Raines) Fleetwood. She married Gordon Ray Henderson on August 26, 1933, and he died on April 2, 1976. She then married Carter Yeary on July 21, 1987, and he died on February 3, 1998.

Surviving are one daughter, Roberta Thompson of Bedford, IN; one son, Larry W. Henderson and his wife, Mildred, of Mitchell, IN; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; one son: Robert Dale Henderson; one sister: Myrtle Reed.

She was a homemaker and was of the Christian Faith.

Services for Delphia Yeary will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 30th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Richard Chase officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Bundy – Robert Dale Bundy of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born December 24, 1935, in Mitchell, he was the son of Millie J. and Ethel (Ramey) Bundy. He married Mary Baker on July 27, 1954, and she died October 6, 1996.

Surviving are three sons: Larry Bundy and spouse, Sharon Howell of Mitchell, IN, Jack Bundy and spouse, Susan Jones of Mitchell, IN, and Kyle Bundy of Mitchell, IN; and one daughter, Dalenia Truesdel and spouse, and Andy Truesdel, Mitchell, IN; one sister, Susie McClain of Franklin, IN; three brothers: Jerry Bundy of Mitchell, IN, Millie Jacob Bundy, Jr. of Indianapolis, and Mervin Bundy of Ohio; one half brother, Doug Wilcoxen of Mitchell, IN; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four sisters: Wanda Jones, Marie Gilbert, Betty Bundy, and Ruby Bundy; and two brothers, Stanley and Hugh William Bundy.

He was a former employee of Roberts Brass and Regal Beloit, and had attended Woodville Baptist Church.

Eagan – Paul Franklin “Tank” Eagan of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on June 13, 1935, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Cleve and Mary Eagan. He married Sue Conolty on November 27, 1954, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are four children: Steve Eagan and his wife, Janine, Nancy Eagan; Jeff Eagan and his wife, Kelly, and April Dorsett and her husband Randy; grandchildren: Natalie and Nick Banks; Taylor, Makina and Tucker Eagan; Evan, Miranda and Carson Dorsett; one brother: William Albert Eagan and his wife, Phyllis; in laws, Larry and Wanda Conolty, Nancy Sowders, Patty Moore, Kenny and Retha Conolty, and several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: Chub, Lloyd, Clovis, Lee, Bob and Benny Ray Eagan; and one sister: Eva Mae.

He retired from GM Powertrain in Bedford and was a member of the UAW #440.

Services for Paul Eagan will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 29th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bill Raines officiating. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 1:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Johnson – Perry W. (Pete) Johnson of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at his home. Born on September 22, 1936, he was the son of Howard and Alma (Fines) Johnson. He married Carolyn Sue Hatfield on May 5, 1955, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three sons: Maj. Dale E. Johnson of Colorado, Daniel W. Johnson of Mitchell, IN, and Perry (Joe) Johnson of Bedford, IN; two grandsons, Alex Johnson of Williams, IN, and Daniel Johnson of Mitchell, IN; three granddaughters: Erin, Victoria and Holly Johnson, all of Colorado; two brothers, Gilbert Johnson of Mitchell, IN, and James Johnson of Bedford, IN; seven sisters: Dorothy Allen, Patricia Allen, and Brenda Johnson, all of Bedford, IN, Loretta Kay Milligan and Carolyn Middleton of Maryland, Judith Nichols of Oklahoma, and Debra Knoll of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond (Bud) and Russell Johnson; and one sister, Delores Fish.

He retired from military service after spending ten years in the Air Force and fifteen years in the Army National Guard. He was also a retired owner-operator trucker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 30th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by the Military Department of Indiana Ceremonial Unit. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday and from 12:00 noon until the service time on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

LaDuke – Dee K. LaDuke of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on April 29, 1939, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Leo and Josephine (Jarvis) Williams. She married Gary LaDuke on December 22, 1963, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are four daughters: Tammy Arthur of Mitchell, IN, Kimberly Fortin of Valparaiso, IN, Lisa Misuraca of O’Fallon, MO, and Dee Dee Mitchell of Rochester, IN; three grandchildren: Tyler, Kayla, and Brett Arthur, Elliott and Ellen Fortin, Dominic, Lina, Cara, and Reno Misuraca, Kacy and Garrett Winegar, and Karli Murphy; one great-granddaughter, Kori Arthur; step grandchildren, Meghan, Mallory, and Lauren Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Williams; and one sister Beatrice McLaughlin.

She was a retired employee of RCA with over 30 years of service.

Services for Dee LaDuke will be at 1:00 Wednesday, December 29th, at Chastain Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 Tuesday and from 11:00 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Julian – Ruth Winifred Julian of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, December 24, 2004, at her residence. Born on July 19, 1910, in Waverly, IN, she was the daughter of the Rev. George E. and Mayme (Wheeler) Garrison. She married Russell A. Julian of Walton, IN, on June 12, 1938, and he died on March 24, 1997.

Surviving are one son, Gary A. Julian of Aurora, CO; four daughters: Winifred A. Heuring of Hobart, IN, Joy A. Shaver of Crawfordsville, IN, Lynne M. Miller of Mitchell, IN, and Janet G. Weir of Bloomington, IN; eight grandchildren: Dr. Geoffrey Julian of Spokane, WA, Amy Hoffman of Greely, CO, Allison Heuring of South Bend, IN, Jon Heuring of Chicago, IL, Ken Shaver of Crawfordsville, IN, Jill Shaver of Fort Wayne, IN, Jacob Miller of Altus, OK, and Maura Johnson of Baker, FL; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Maurice Garrison.

She was a retired public school music teacher, having taught 28 years in Muncie, Mooreland, Kokomo, Mitchell and Bedford. She graduated from Galveston High School, Sherwood Music School in Chicago and Ball State University. She was a member of Jacob Finger United Methodist Church of Mitchell; Mitchell Tri Kappa Associate Chapter; Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma; Indiana State Teachers Association; Lawrence County Retired Teachers Association; and she was a former member of Spring Mill Squares and Hoosier Rounds Dance Clubs.

Pemberton – Norma Dell Pemberton of Bedford, IN, died Friday, December 24, 2004, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on December 17, 1931, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Harry and Lena Mary (Miller) McBrayer. She married Fred Allen Pemberton on September 4, 1948, and he died on May 16, 1983.

Surviving are three sons: Roger "Byford" Pemberton, Randy Pemberton and his wife, Melody, and Robert Pemberton and his wife, Helen, all of Bedford, IN; three daughters, Connie Terrell and her husband, Ted, of Huron, IN, Linda Sizemore and her husband, Larry, of Martinsville, IN, and Betty Sykes and her husband, Dallas, of Bedford, IN; one brother, James Mundy of Cornelius, OR; twenty-one grandchildren: Bailey Arbuckle, Shelly Bokern, Michelle Blunk, Wendy Fisher, Mike Blunk, Peggy Stinson, Jennifer Pemberton, Troy Bell and his wife Bobbie, Jerry Bell, Kevin Terrell and his wife Fran, Vickie Moore, Karen Warfield, Shannon Sizemore, Katherine Walls, Joe Walls, Wesley Walls, Stacey Roberts, Tracey Bryant, Steve Sykes, Dustin Gabhart and Desirae Gabhart; fifty-two great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lola DeTienne of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, one daughter, Peggy Jean Pemberton; two brothers, Roy Mundy and Paul Oscar McBrayer (in infancy); five sisters: Hazel Acton, Leona Ferris, Dorothy Carter, Virginia Caraway, and Mildred Jeanette McBrayer (in infancy).

She worked at Westview Manor as a CNA and laundry supervisor for 30 years, retiring in 1993. She attended Wesley Chapel Church.

Doyle – James H. Doyle of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, December 23, 2004, at his residence.

Born August 23, 1943, in Johnson County, IN, he was the son of Hurschell and Evelyn (Tearman) Doyle. He married Denise L. Hunter on December 22, 1979, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three sons: James H. Doyle, Jr. of Bloomington, IN, David Alan Doyle of Marco, IN, and Robert Edward Doyle of Douglas, GA; two daughters, Sharlet Joan Doyle of Ellettsville, IN, and Jamie Lynn Doyle of Mitchell, IN; two step-sons, Roger Joe Terrell of Mitchell, IN, and Jarrod Allen Terrell of Bloomington, IN; two brothers, Gaylord "Bud" Doyle of Columbus, IN, and Raymond Doyle of Terre Haute, IN; one sister, Susie Fulford of Bloomington, IN; 14 grandchildren, and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Opal Baker; and a brother, David H. Doyle.

He was a truck driver and a graduate of Bloomington High School.

There will be a memorial service for James Doyle at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30th, at Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Courson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bogard – Bryant Keith "Boo" Bogard, Jr. of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday morning, December 22, 2004, at his residence. Born October 29, 1985, in Louisville, KY, he was the son of Bryant Keith and Betty Jane (Edwards) Bogard, Sr.

Surviving are his parents of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Kara Bogard of Mitchell, IN; his grandmother, Nancy Bogard of Jeffersonville, IN; and his grandfather, Carl W. Edwards of Bronston, KY.

He was a senior at Mitchell High School.

There will be graveside services for Bryant Bogard at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 27th, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Chastain Funeral Home.

Eagans – George Eagans of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on November 17, 1934, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Woodrow and Lelah (Swartz) Eagan. He married Edna Pemberton on June 29, 1957, and she died on September 11, 2001.

Surviving are one son, Brian Eagans and his wife, Lisa of Bedford, IN; two grandsons, Dillon and Brant Eagans, both of Bedford, IN; Companion: Zella Rose of Bedford, IN; two sisters: Viola Cummings and Helen Couch, both of Bedford, IN; one brother, Gerald Eagan of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister, Phyllis Eagan

He was a contractor all of his life in Lawrence County, and was a member of the Mitchell American Legion Post #250 and Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis..

Trisler – Twylah F. (Jackson) Trisler of Springville, IN, died Monday, December 20, 2004, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on December 22, 1912, in Harrodsburg, IN, she was the daughtr of Aldyce and Blanche (Moore) Jackson. She married Winfred Jonathon Trisler on November 211, 1933, and he died on May 4, 1954.

Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn Blackburn of Bedford, IN; two sons, Jon M. Trisler of Bloomington, IN, and Charles William "Bill" Trisler of Oolitic, IN; three sisters: Kathleen Tousey of Bloomington, IN, Roberta Smithers of Florida, and Margaret Ann Knoop of Bedford, IN; and one brother, Chester Robert Jackson of Bloomington, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Sharon Lou Trisler; two brothers, and two sisters.

She was a homemaker and member of the First Church of God in Bedford.

Wilkerson – Ronnie Wilkerson of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, December 20, 2004, at his residence. Born on April 3, 1942, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Franklin and Kathleen (Nowling) Wilderson. He married Kathy Lawson on April 25, 1986, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are his mother, Kathleen Goen and his stepfather, Tom Goen, both of Mitchell, IN; three daughters: Ronetta Hopper and Teresa Hamilton, both of Mitchell, IN, and Yolanda Spicer of Medora, IN; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

Gaither – Pauline Gaither of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, December 19, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born Dec. 13, 1915, she was the daughter of John Henry and Visa (Lowe) Green. She married Curtis B. Gaither on March 10, 1937, and he died on July 7, 1977.

Surviving are one son, Wayne Gaither of Bedford, IN; three daughters: Bonnie Harville, Paula Gaither and Terri Hodges, all of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Aliene Stivers and Marva Baker, both of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant daughter, Patricia; one grandson, Steve Gaither; one brother, James; and two sisters, Alma and Lillian.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Central Church of Christ in Bedford.

Meadows – Lydia L. Meadows of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, December 19, 2004, at Mitchell Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. Born on March 9, 1913, at Williams, IN, she was the daughter of Joseph and Sally (Bossert) Roberts. She married Stanley Meadows on November 19, 1930, and he died November 3, 1978.

Surviving are one daughter, Phyllis Nilson of Mitchell, IN; three sons: Donald Meadows of Livingston, MT., Robert and Michael Meadows, both of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Nora Etta Wade of Bedford, IN, and Dorothy Simmerman of Adamsville, TN; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service for Lydia Meadows at 1 p.m. Jan. 8, 2005, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Mitchell, IN, with Bro. David Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery in Bedford. There will be no visitation. Haverly Mortuary in Mitchell is in charge of arrangements.

Embree – John Reed (J.R.) Embree, formerly of the Bryantsville, IN, community, died Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Core Nursing and Rehab Center where he was residing. Born on May 10, 1905, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of James C. and Ellen (Taylor) Embree. He married Cora Celia Short on April 5, 1923, and she died in 1998.

Surviving are two sons, Hollis R. Embree and his wife, Edna, of Florida, and Michael N. Embree and his wife, Christine, of Colorado; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Embree; and one sister, Annabelle Williams . He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora; and one son, Sam Embree.

He was a farmer and an iron worker having been employed at several locations throughout the U.S. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union and of the Protestant faith.

Services for John Embree will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 28th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pat Blyeth officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the service time Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Grubb – Carl "Bud" Grubb of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born July 25, 1932, in Heltonville, IN, he was the son of Ora and Bertha (Hillenburg) Grubb. He married Carolyn Pavey on February 12, 1971, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Carl Grubb and John Grubb, both of Bedford, IN; one step-son, Jerry Pavey of Mitchell, IN; one granddaughter; two sisters, Alice Folk and Bernice Inman, both of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.

He was a construction worker and ran the Arthur May horse farm.

Davis – Georgette (Peggy) Davis of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, December 16, 2004, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born September 27, 1942, in Cloverport, KY, she was the daughter of George and Rosella (Holmes) Blake. She married Merle Davis on May 24, 1963, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are three sons: Levi Allen Davis and his wife, Grace, of Mitchell, IN, James Davis and Merle Duane Davis and his wife, Gina, all of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Vanessa O’Hart of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren: Brenden Hottell, Deven Hottell, Brian O’Hart, Caitlyn O’Hart, Elisa Davis and Sydney Davis; one sister, Ann Dotts of Mitchell, IN; four brothers: Albert and Guy Blake both of Mitchell, IN, Henry Blake of Oolitic, IN, and Joe Blake of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James (Skeeter) Blake; and one sister, Barbara Jean Blake.

She was a homemaker and was of the inter-denominational faith. She was a den-mother with the Cub Scouts of America and was a gospel singer through out the area.

Wagoner – Winnie M. Wagoner of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, December 16, 2004 at Stonebridge Health Campus. Born September 14, 1908, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Seth and Lizzie (Moore) Thomas. She married Wayne Wagoner on February 16, 1925, and he died October 30. 1992.

Surviving are one son, Kenneth W. Wagoner and his wife, Ruthie, of Mitchell, IN; three daughters: Norma Laux and her husband, Jack, and Ann Nikirk and her husband, Jim, all of Bloomington, IN, and Mary Webb and her husband, Wilbur, of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Metta Waggoner of Bedford, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters: Daphne Gerkin, Vashti Purkhiser, Virginia Waggoner and Pauline Bowman; and one brother, Perry Thomas.

She was a homemaker, a seamstress and a secretary in her husband’s insurance office. She was a member of the Midtown Church of Christ.

Hatfield – Chloie C. Hatfield of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born June 17, 1920, in Somerset, KY, she was the daughter of Arthur and Claudia (Hardwick) Jones. She married Harland Hatfield and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Mardena Sons of Bedford, IN; three sons: Joel Hatfield, Estel Hatfield and Brent Hatfield, all of Bedford, IN; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church.

Hayes – Donald R. Hayes of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born December 12, 1928, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Thomas and Myrtle (Robinson) Hayes. He married Marvol Loretta Grace Wetzbarger and she died on June 22, 2002.

Surviving are one son, Michael Reed Hayes of Bedford, IN; one stepson, Ronald Dewayne Reynolds of Bedford. IN; two daughters, Bonnie Jean Moser of Bedford, IN, and Loretta Darlene Dotts of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Frank Hayes of Bedford, IN; one sister, Phyllis Clausen of Delphi, IN; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers: Thomas, Sam, Billy and Richard Hayes; and three sisters: Kathleen Judah, Geraldine Fines and Rosemary Lee.

He had been employed at GM Powertrain in Bedford, retiring in 1979, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during World War II.

Carmichael – Gordon Carmichael died December 10, 2004. Born on December 14, 1914, in Springville, IN, he was the son of Harlan and Winniferd (Hammond) Carmichael. He married Helen Lora Cathers, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Carole Ann Carmichael Mouras; one sons, Larry Dale Carmichael; six grandchildren: Lana Weekley, Goldie Mouras, Lora Hyda, Gordon Mouras, Larry Carmichael II, and Mary Helen McCutchen; seven great-grandchildren: Brandon Hyde, Josh Carmichael, Ralph J. Mouras, Amber Carmichael, Alex McCutchen, Lindsey McCutchen, and Zachary Carmichael; several nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Carmichael. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother, Frank.

A graduate of Springville High School, he was employed at General Motors for 17 years, and after moving to Louisiana he worked for Kaiser Aluminum for twenty years. After he retired he became a grounds keeper for the Destrehan Mansion. Upon returning to Lawrence County, he worked for Wal-Mart for five years. He was a lifetime member of the Solsberry Masonic Lodge.

Day – Mary Alice Day of Bedford, IN, died Friday, December 10, 2004 at White River Lodge. Born December 26, 1911, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of John and Jessie (Weir) Ehringer. She married Lloyd Day and he died on March 28, 1961.

Surviving are one daughter, Sue Ball and her husband, Kenny, of Bedford, IN; three sons: Jack Day and his wife, Mable, of Williams, IN, Kenny Day and his wife, Margaret, of Bedford, IN, and Larry Day and his wife, Bonnie, of Lexington Park, MD; ten grandchildren: Randy Hedrick, Rick Hedrick, Sheila White, Shannon Mann, Ronnie Day, Mark Day, Kenny Day, Jr., Kevin Day, Shawn Day and Michelle Day; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; five step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Cecil Day of Bedford, IN, and one sister-in-law, Jessie Day. She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Catherine Johnson.

She was retired from M. Fine & Sons Mfg. in Bedford and was a member of the First Church of God in Bedford. She was a loving mother and set a Christian example for her family and friends.

Hilgeman – Elmer (Fred) Hilgeman, Jr., of Jasper, IN, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, December 10, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Born on May 2, 1922, in Duff, IN, he was the son of Elmer F. and Minnie M. (Whitsitt) Hilgeman, Sr. He married Virginia K. Byrum on August 5, 1945, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Judith Ann Yarbrough of Jasper, IN; one son, Dennis F. Hilgeman of Aurora, IN; two sisters, Melba J. Taylor of Georgetown, IN, and Kathleen Roggenkamp of Milltown, IN; three grandchildren: Stephen Hilgeman, Scott Yarbrough, and Keri Yarbrough; and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Olivia, and Josie.

He was a retired Metropolitan Life Insurance agent, a member of Retired Insurance Association, Fraternal Order of Police, and a 1941 graduate of Milltown High School. In early life he was involved in politics. He was a US Air Force veteran of World War II and a member and past commander of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250. For 26 years he was the Santa Claus for the American Legion Christmas parties. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1166.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15th, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Bernie Cox officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Tunnel Hill Cemetery at Georgetown. Friends may call from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Chastain Funeral Home, where a Rosary service will be conducted by the Knights of Columbus at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Miller – Phillip V. Miller of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, December 10, 2004, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. Born on February 13, 1931, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of Loyd and Anice (Bex) Miller, Sr. He married Mary Ellen Cox on October 28, 1950, and she survives.

Surviving: with his wife are three sisters: Edna Merry, Mary J. Graves, and Sue Acton, all of Mitchell, IN; and one brother, Lloyd Miller, Jr., of Mitchell, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Martha Kendall.

He was a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church and a retired employee of Carpenter Body Works.

Bundy – Leo Bundy of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, December 9, 2004, at his residence. Born February 1, 1930, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of Frank and Pearl (Goldsmith) Bundy. He married Bonnie Blackerby on October 21, 1950, and she survives.

Surviving: with his wife are one daughter, Linda Lou Fleenor and husband, Joe, of Mitchell, IN; four sons, Steven Brent Bundy, Jeffrey Dale Bundy, Barry Acott Bundy and wife, Nikke, all of Mitchell, IN, and Michael Lee Bundy, Louisville, KY; one brother, Kenneth Bundy of Kentucky; nine grandchildren: Kim Mikels, Sean Fleenor, Devin Reynolds, Shandi Kimble, Casey Jordan, Scott Bundy, Emilee Bundy, Logan Bundy, and Makenzie Bundy, and six great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Walter, Bill, and Bob Bundy.

He was a retired contractor.

Southern – Lowell K. Southern of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, December 9, 2004, at his business, S & S Auto Sales in Bedford. Born December 4, 1933, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Edgar and Cloie (Turner) Southern. He married Josephine Ramsay on July 6, 1956, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Colby Southern and his wife, Carol, of Springville, IN; two daughters, Tami Sargent and Lisa Cummings and her husband, Tim, all of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren: Jason Henson and his wife, Shannon, Mindy Warren and her husband, Robbie, Corey Southern and his fiancé Audrey Bond, Shane Sargent, Matthew Southern, Colson and Clayton Cummings; one great-grandson, Garrett Eli Henson. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Audrey Southern and Jessie Covey; and two brothers, Richard and Norman Southern.

He was a life-long automobile dealer and enjoyed fishing and camping and was an avid I.U. basketball fan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Philippines where he was a member of the Navy’s pro basketball team.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, December 13th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastors David Ferry and Wes Rainey officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00-8:00 pm on Sunday and from 12:00 noon until the service time on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Allen – Virginia R. Allen of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at her residence. Born August 18, 1925, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Earl and Mary (Hopkins) Melvin. She married Walter Calvin Allen and he died October 14, 2004.

Surviving are two daughters, Celeste Blanton of Greencastle, IN, and Anita Allen of Coral Springs, FL; six grandchildren: Dr. Demetrius Patton, Derek Patton, Crystal Blanton, Wyatt Allen, Jordan Allen, and Aaron Allen; nine great-grandchildren: Chaise, Elijah, Dominic, Jalin, Madeline, Molly, Orion, Elaine and Audrey; one brother, William Melvin of Greenwood, IN; and one sister, Martha Murillo of California. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Henry “Hank” Melvin; one sister, Mary Wade; and one daughter, Elaine Allen.

She was retired from General Motors in Bedford and was a member of the Central Church of Christ. She was active in her sewing and organ club until the onset of her illness.

Services for Virginia Allen will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 11th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Wilbur Fields officiating. A graveside committal service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday at Springhill Cemetery in Shoals, IN. Williams – Janet Sue Williams of Bedford, IN, died Monday, December 6, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born September 11, 1939, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Clarence and Mary Frances (Mason) Bradford. She married Robert Clay Williams on June 8, 1956, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters: Belinda Sue Holt of Mitchell, IN, Shayne Marie Brown of New Albany, IN, and Teresa Lynn Scalf of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren: Tim Childers, Nathan Childers, Robert Holt, Jacob Scalf, Jordan Scalf, Mason Williams and Makenzie Williams; six great-grandchildren; three sisters: Patty Patton of Solsberry, IN, Betty Reynolds and Peggy Miller, both of Bedford, IN; eight nephews and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Clayton Williams; one sister, Gloria K. Bradford; one brother, Charles Edward Bradford; and one niece, Paula Kay Reynolds.

She was a retired assembly tester at Visteon in Bedford and attended Englewood Trinity Pentecostal Church in Bedford.

Services for Janet Williams will at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 9th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Revs. Charles Scalf and Vernon Thompson officiating. Ragsdale –

Arthur Ragsdale of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, December 5, 2004, at White River Lodge. Born March 18, 1915, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Harry Lee and Estella (Ikerd) Ragsdale. He married Alma Holt on August 30, 1934, in Brownstown, IN, and she died on April 2, 2003.

Surviving are one daughter, Loretta Turpin and her husband, Bill of Bedford, IN; two sons, Jack Ragsdale and his wife, Vicki, of Bedford, IN, and Don Ragsdale and his wife, Janice, of Bloomington, IN; five grandchildren: Kim Walters of Bedford, IN, Brad Ragsdale of Bloomington, IN, Shelly Hostetter of Springville, IN, Mike Turpin of Terre Haute, IN, and Deann Hawley of Westfield, IN; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother, Jefferson Ragsdale; and one sister, Juanita Lawton.

He was a retired stone worker with Ingalls Limestone and attended Shawswick High School. He was a former member of Bedford Moose and Eagles lodges.

Services for Arthur Ragsdale will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 9th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Howell – Charlene R. (Wright) Howell of Bedford, IN, formerly of Springville, IN, died Saturday, December 4, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on June 27, 1914, in Jackson County, IN, she was the daughter of Charles S. and Ruthie E. (Gallion) Wright. She married Kenneth L. Howell in August 17, 1933, and he died on April 30, 1996.

Surviving are one son, Kenneth Thomas "Tom" Howell and his wife, Mary Sue, of Seymour, IN; two daughters, Shirley Ann Cummings and her husband, John, and Rita Kay Beavers, all of Bedford, IN; one son-in-law, Austin "Pete" Pritchett of Bedford, IN; eight grandchildren: Gale Rosberg and her husband, Steve, of Greenwood, IN, Yonda Gay Darlage and her husband, Lynn, of Logansport, IN, Brian Cummings and his wife, Phyllis, of Mooresville, IN, Susan Annette Lipscomb of Bedford, IN, Darron Cummings and his wife, Stephanie, of Columbus, IN, Aaron Pritchett and his wife, Julie, of Bedford, IN, Kristin Messmore and her husband, Steve, of Bedford, IN, and Eric Howell of Seymour, IN; nine great-grandchildren: Chad, Nicholas and Jacob Darlage, Dawn Davis, McKenzie and Austin Messmore, Benjamin Pritchett, Shelby and Erica Stinson; one great-great-granddaughter, Stevie Lynn Davis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Marilyn Sue Pritchett; two granddaughters in infancy, Jana Lynette and Lisa Diane; one son-in-law, Larry Beavers; two sisters, Beachie L. Harrell and Mary Jane Howell; and one brother, David Wright.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Avoca Baptist Church.

Carter – Mable Carter of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, December 3, 2004, at Mitchell Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. Born on November 23, 1913, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Milton and Nora (Blackwell) Merry. She married Fred Carter on June 13, 1931, and he died March 30, 1979.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Jerry L. Williams of Indianapolis; one sister, Halen St. Clair of Shoals, IN; and one grandson, Gary Williams of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers, eight sisters, and one grandson.

She was employed at Travelers, Inc. in Orleans for twenty-five years, and at the NHE Nursing Home in Bedford. She was a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ and had served as a volunteer at Dunn Memorial Hospital and for the Lawrence County Red Cross Bloodmobile.

Services for Mabel Carter will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 6th, at Haverly Mortuary with Bro. Don White officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service time Monday at Haverly Mortuary.

Montavon – Mary Catherine (McKim) Montavon, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Bedford, IN, died December 2, 2004. Born in Greene County, IN, she was the daughter of Frank and Ona McKim. She married Bob E. Montavon in Bedford on September 17, 1944, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Bruce Montavon of Bedford, IN, and James Montavon of Orlando, FL, four grandchildren: Amy Fuchs of Raleigh, NC, Karen Johnson of Bedford, IN, Michael Montavon of Wichita, KS, and Melanie Erben of San Antonio, TX; and five great-grandchildren.

Prior to going to the Orlando area in 1975, Mary actively contributed to community service in the Bedford North Lawrence School system, including chairing the School Board and was later an employee of the William H. Block Department Store in Indianapolis, managing the store's bridal shop. She was active in golf, bridge, Grace United Methodist Church, Rosemont Women's Club officer, and College Park United Methodist Church and was a block captain and Neighborhood Watch coordinator.

Services for Mary Montavon will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 7th, at the Carey Hand Garden Chapel, 600 Wilkinson St. (corner of Orange Ave. and Wilkinson). Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Lake Wales Cemetery, Lake Wales, FL. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Sipes – Edward L. Sipes, Sr. of Mitchell, IN, formerly of Marion, IN, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at his residence. Born February 8, 1911, in Martin County, IN, he was the son of William Dennis and Della (Shoemaker) Sipes. He married Charlotte Kohlmorgen December 24, 1979, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Edward L. Sipes, Jr. and wife, Betsy, of Marion, IN, and Leslie Sipes and wife, Susan, of Fort Wayne, IN; four daughters: Maxine Hiatt and husband, Gary, of Marion, IN, Lynda Cunningham and husband, Sonny, of Pflugerville, TX, Letha Stanton and husband, Brian, of Muncie, IN, and Penny Hilton and husband, Troy, of Marion, IN; two stepsons, Melvin Eric Blue and wife, Betty, of Macclenny, FL, and Kevin Blue and wife, Susan, of Muncie, IN; two brothers, Richard Sipes, of Anderson, IN, and Dale Sipes, of Greenfield, IN; two sisters, Maude Dilley, of Indianapolis, and Helen Morris, of Knightstown, IN; 18 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by ten brothers, Glessner, Chauncey, Delmar, Arthur, John, Willard, Leroy, Chester, Ora, and Kenneth Sipes; two sisters, Laura Cockerham and Fern Jackson; and a grandson, Marcus.

He retired from GM Fisher Body Plant in Marion, and was a US Army veteran of World War II and also served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church, White River Masonic Lodge No. 332 F. & A. M., and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.

There will be a memorial service for Edward Sipes at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 4th, at Chastain Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at Chastain Funeral Home, where the White River Masonic Lodge No. 332 F. & A. M. will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
