09/29/04 Rainbolt – James A. Rainbolt of Bloomington, IN, died Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on January 21, 1943, he was the son of Ivan and Zelma (Godsey) Rainbolt. He married Sharon A. Wilson on September 22, 1979, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are one son, Joseph Rainbolt of Anderson, IN; one grandson, Thomas Rainbolt of Bloomington, IN; one brother, Robert Rainbolt and his wife, Bonnie of Kenton, OH; three sisters-in-law, Sue Baker and her husband, Phil of Bloomington, IN, Bobbie Littlehale of Washington, DC, and Connie Rainbolt of Oolitic, IN; one brother-in-law, Steve Wilson and his wife, Sheila of Dayton, OH; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeff Rainbolt; and one brother, Dale Rainbolt. He retired in February, 2004, from the maintenance department of Indiana University. He was a member of the Reform Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. Services for James Rainbolt will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 2nd, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Goodin of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at StoneBridge Health Campus. Born on October 28, 1915, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Alphonso X. and Martha (McAtee) Bullock. She married Edgar Goodin on April 19, 1941, in Lawrence County, IN, and he died on November 5, 1988. Surviving are four sons: Michael J. Goodin and his wife Bonita of Nashville, IN, George L. Goodin and his wife Linda, Tim Goodin and his wife Cindy and Patrick E. Goodin and his wife Cathy, all of Bedford, IN; three daughters: Martha A. Hudson and her husband Don, Mary L. Fish and her husband Bob and Susan E. Parker and her husband David, all of Bedford, IN; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson, Reid Xavier Goodin; two brothers: Ivan and James Bullock; and one sister, Bernadine Oldham. A graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1934, she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Bedford, where she sang for many years in the choir. a life member and past president of the Altar Society, a member and former secretary of Ladies of Columbus, a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society Thrift Store, and a volunteer at the Bedford Regional Medical Center since 1973, exceeding 10,000 hours of service. Services for Kathryn Goodin will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with Father John Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society. Hall – Cleo M. Hall of Bedford, IN, died at 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at White River Lodge. Born on May 9, 1902, in Paoli, IN, she was the daughter of Thomas Butler and Emma Alice (King) Gilliatt. She married Hobart G. Hall and he died in 1973. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers: Guy, Oliver and Hubert Gilliatt; and five sisters: Goldie Bates, Ada Potter, Margaret McQuery, Alice Roberts and Mary Stump. She, together with her husband, managed the Purdue Farm for 38 years. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Bedford. Sanders of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born on December 29, 1920, in Putnam County, IN, she was the daughter of Howard E. and Glydia Mae (Eversole) Burton. She married William H. Sanders October 18, 1941, and he died on March 7, 1988. Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Jill Guthrie, Mason City, IA; one son, William J. Sanders and his wife, Cheryll, of Mitchell, IN; 3 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, Howard E. Burton, Jr., of Orleans, IN; one sister, Barbara R. Rawlings of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, William Howard Sanders; four sisters: Mary Elizabeth Burton, Louise Burton, Dorothy Mae McPherson, and Marie Williams; three brothers: Claude R. Burton, William M. Burton, and Walter H. Burton. She was a member of Jacob Finger United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Born April 19, 1914, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Harry Lee and Ethel (Batchelor) Terry. On November 15, 1932, she married Carl M. Hawk and he died on February 26, 1988. Surviving are one daughter, Freida Hodges and her husband Bennie of Mitchell, IN; one grandson, Frank Hodges and his wife Carolyn of Mitchell, IN; one great-grandson, John S. Hodges of Mitchell, IN; one great-granddaughter, Erin Jo Hodges of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Maxine Wood and her husband Bob of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Glenn Terry and his wife Jeanine of Tulsa, OK; two sisters-in-law, Donna Terry of Corpus Christi, TX, and Bessie Terry of Mitchell, IN; one brother-in-law, Jesse Cochran of Fort Worth, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Wilma Joanne Hawk, in infancy; one granddaughter, Cathy Ann Hodges, infancy; one sister, Virginia Cochran; and three brothers, Lester, Chester and Roy Terry. She graduated from Mitchell High School with the class of 1932. Early in her adult life, she was employed at Reliance Manufacturing in Mitchell. She worked as a tester at RCA in Bloomington, retiring in 1974 after 27 years of service. After retiring from RCA, she worked part-time at AgriPro Seeds in Mitchell. Wood of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, September 26, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born October 5, 1918, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Will R. and Blanche (Ramsey) Wood. Surviving are one sister, Mary Hayes of Bedford, IN; one brother, Oren Wood of Bedford, IN; three nieces, Kay Wood of Indianapolis, and Gaylynn Jean and Janet Crane, both of Bedford, IN; three great-nephews, Ross, Bret and Kyle Jean, all of Bedford, IN; three great-nieces, Jennifer Crane of Indianapolis and Julie and Jill Crane, both of Bedford, IN; four great-great-nephews; and two great-great-nieces. She graduated from Shawswick High School with the class of 1936. She was the private secretary for U.S. Senator William Jenner, and then served as executive secretary for the State Board of Law Examiners. Jeffries of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, September 25, 2004, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on October 12, 1934, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of John and Dorlene (Wilcoxen) Richason. She married William Jeffries on January 27, 1955, and he died on March 23, 1994. Surviving are one son, William Mark Jeffries of Mitchell, IN; one daughter, Linda S. Bowden of Mitchell, IN; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son, John David Jeffries. She had worked as a teacher's aid at Burris and Emerson Schools in Mitchell. Born January 31, 1922, in New Castle, IN, she was the daughter of Thomas and Susie (Fritz) Worl. She married Harold Hamner on October 4, 1941, and he died on October 15, 2001. Surviving are four sons: Dean Hamner of Newnan, GA, Alan Hamner of Baycliff, TX, Mark Hamner of El Paso, TX, and John Hamner of Fort Pierce, FL; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, four sisters and one son, Michael Hamner. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ Cemetery. Moore of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born March 7, 1916, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Clifton and Priscilda Ann (Mercier) Moore. He married Alda Jean Butler on December 24, 1942, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Pat Whitted of Bedford, IN; one son, John Moore, Jr. and his wife, Deanna, of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren, Christina and Natalie Whitted, Laura Moore, Eric Moore and his wife, Jamie, Joshua Moore and his wife, Misty, and Jed Moore and his wife, Ali; two great grandsons, John and Jayson Moore; two brothers, Francis and Jean Moore both of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Priscilda Bruce of Florida and Doris Fowler of Lafayette, IN; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, George and Thomas Moore and one sister, Florence Goodin. He was retired from GM Powertrain and was a member of Pinhook Christian Church. Cooper of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at his residence. Born December 23, 1942, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of Kenneth Paul and Treva (Bostic) Cooper. He married Melva (Cornwell) Spicer August 8, 1987, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are his mother, Treva Cooper of Bedford, IN; two sons, Scott J. Cooper of Bedford, IN, and Darren Cooper, Mooresville, IN; one daughter, Lacie McFadden of Portland, TX; stepsons, Aaron Spicer of Bloomington, IN, and Brent Spicer of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Brenda Williams of Bedford, IN; and ten grandchildren. His father preceded him in death. He was a retired lineman for Public Service Indiana, a 1960 graduate of Mitchell High School, and a a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church, the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250, Bedford Elks Club No. 826, and Bedford Boat and Sportsmen's Club. Rayhill of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on December 23, 1924, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Milton and Nellie (Jenkins) Rayhill. He married Imogene (Holsapple) Wilson October 3, 1962, and she died on April 12, 1991. Surviving are three daughters: Rita Kesterson and Gail Kesterson, both of Mitchell, IN, and Margie Bowden of Bedford, IN; one stepson, Jim Wilson of Paoli, IN; his twin brother, Clyde Rayhill of Mitchell, IN; two nieces, Debrah S. Tolbert of Mitchell, IN, and Betty Redenbaugh of Bloomington, IN; three nephews: Jerry Neal of Bedford, IN, Don Neal of Fort Myers, FL., and Gary Jones of Norman, IN; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his his wife; one brother, Charles Herschel Rayhill; and two sisters, Winnie Jean Jones and Dorothy Neal. He was retired from GM Powertrain, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Born October 14, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Logan and Mannie (Terrell) Bex. Surviving are his long-time friend, Mary Guthrie; one daughter, Shirley Kay Mosier and her husband Brad; one son, Glen Eugene "Tuffy" Bex and his wife Priscilla; grandchildren, James Earl Mosier and his wife Jamie, Gerald Mosier and his fiancée Missy, David Mosier and Paula Kay Mosier, Jeff Bex and his wife Stacy, Scott Bex and his wife Nikki and Matt Bex and his wife Julie; four brothers, Raymond, Logan, Robert and Russell Bex; three sisters, Ruth Hutsell, Lucille Williams and Sarah Bright; and 10 great-grandchildren. Born November 23, 1916, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of William and Mabel (Marsh) Asbury. She married John Edward Martin, and he died on May 25, 1991. Surviving are three daughters: Janice Sue Wigley and her husband, Frank, and Connie Hall and her husband, Ernie, all of Bedford, IN, and Carol Aston of Ft. Born on July 21, 1939, in Nokomis, IL, he was the son of Edward and Viola (Daugherty) Duckett. He married Lynn Baumann on June 17, 1961, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are one son, Wesley Duckett of Bedford, IN; one grandson, Ryan Duckett of Bedford, IN; and one brother, Wesley Duckett of Elgin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. He worked at Lawrence County Complex for several years; and he was also the owner/operator of Homestead Restaurant in Bedford. He attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Fleenor – Evelyn Fleenor of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, September 18, 2004, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born on September 28, 1923, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Jake and Cora (Gilbert) Hopkins. She married Mike Fleenor on February 15, 1952, and he died on October 31, 1975. Surviving are one daughter, Teresa A. Beasley of Mitchell, IN; three grandchildren: Jeremy Jackson of Olathe, CO, Tim Fleenor of Bryantsville, IN, and Aaron Fleenor of Mesa, AZ. She was born on April 27, 1966, in Zama, Kanagawa-Ken Japan. Surviving are one daughter, Adrienne Andis of Springville, IN; one son, Douglas Saladee of Fayetteville, IN; and two granddaughters, Rileigh Andis and Lillian Andis. Fields of Bedford, IN, died Friday, July 17, 2004, at his residence. Born on August 19, 1952, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Charles (Jr) and Alta Mae (Crane) Fields. He married Debra Herod in 1975, and they were later divorced. Surviving are his parents; two sons, Jeremy Fields of Sheridan, IN, and C.J. Fields of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Jennifer Marie Fields and Elizabeth Sue Fields, both of Oklahoma; one step-son, Michael Murphy of Bedford, IN; one brother, Charles "Andy" Fields of Pierre, SD; and one sister, Joanne Spaulding and her husband, James, of Bedford, IN; maternal grandmother, Hazel Crane of Bedford, IN; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Born on July 14, 1932, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of William "Silas" and Lillie (Wilson) Patton. She married Oval Parker on May 19, 1951, and he died on January 28, 1976. Surviving are two daughters, Norma Sue Sullivan and her husband, Raymond. and Janice Lynn Earl and her husband, Tony, all of Bedford, IN; one son, Eddie O. Parker and his wife, Regina, of Springville, IN; 17 grandchildren: Reneal Hammer, who was raised in her home, Rachelle Sullivan, Brian Sullivan, Debbie Craig, Caren Craig, Eddie Parker, Amber Payton, Autumn Arnold, Michael Parker, Jimmy Parker, David Eicle, Jeffery Eicle, Anthony Earl, Nathan Earl, Joshua Earl, Lisa Earl and T.J. She was preceded in death by her parents. She retired from A.T. & T. in 1997 after serving 31 years as a telephone operator. Born on February 26, 1971, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Gene and Mary Jane (Ison) Fields. He is survived by one son, Shawn Patrick Fields of Bedford, IN; the mother of his child, Rachel (Dwyer) Fields of Bedford, IN; his parents, Gene and Mary Jane Fields of Bedford, IN; one brother, Scott Fields and his wife, Melissa, of Shoals, IN; one niece, Amber Dawn Fields of Shoals, IN; paternal grandmother, Dona Fields of Whitesburg, KY.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins. Born February 2, 1929, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Ernest H. and Janie V. (Turpin) Rogers. He married Maxine Lee in 1949, and she survives. Surviving with his wife is one son, Terry Rogers and his wife, Jill of Bedford, IN; one sister, Barbara Houtchings and her husband, Robert, of Mitchell, IN; his step-father, John Vernon Smith of Mitchell, IN; one grandson, Brandon Bevers; one granddaughter, Mandy Bevers; one niece, Cathy Shields, of Mitchell, IN, and one nephew, Carl Houtchings of Mitchell, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Rogers and Janie Rogers Smith; two daughters, Debra Bevers and Susan Rogers (in infancy). He retired from General Motors as a die cast operator. He was a member of a western band where he played the bass guitar and was of the Baptist Faith. Born on May 1, 1932, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Robert Lee and Helen Reuter. Surviving are his wife, Margot; his mother, Helen Reuter; one son Ronald D. Reuter and his wife, Linda; one daughter Mona L. Gould and her husband, Danny; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Reuter; and six grandchildren: Elizabeth Wuertz and her husband, Matt, Laura and Hannah Gould, and Alisha, Erin, and Casey Reuter. He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Raymon Earl Reuter. He served as a member of the United States Air Force for 23 years and reached the top rank of Chief Master Sergeant before retiring in 1974. He served proudly, received several medals during his enlistment and was a Vietnam Veteran. After his service to his country, he attended and received an accounting degree from Indiana University and joined the accounting firm of Marshall Hatfield, which he later acquired ownership of. At a later date, he joined the accounting firm of Sallee & Company on a part-time basis. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church and held several different offices during his long membership. He was currently the secretary of the Southern Indiana Chapter of the Air Force Association, and in the past has served as president. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Greenhill Cemetery Association, the Elks club and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Born January 20, 1906, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Henry and Ola (Bowman) McGregor. She married Bernard Brent, and he died on December 27, 1950. She later married Ira Riggs, and he preceded her in death. She then married Randall Kelley, and he also preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons: Gerald Brent of Bedford, IN, and Dean Brent of Jonesboro, AR.; one daughter, Janet Rittenhouse of Greenwood, IN; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Wagoner of Tifton, GA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three husbands; two sisters: Oma Deckard and Ruby Alexander; and three brothers: Jimmy, Ralph and Henry McGregor. Born on September 30, 1909, in Bloomington, IN, she was the daughter of Fred and Ona (Johnson) Storm. She married Dale Z. Armstrong on January 21, 1934, and he died on April 22, 1997.
