02/29/2000

Whitted – Hazel M. Whitted of Lebanon, IN, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 29, 2000, at Witham Hospital in Lebanon, IN. Born on June 13, 1914, in Somerset, KY, she was the daughter of James and Mary (Tucker) Hardgrove. She married William Henry Whitted in December, 1931, and he died in 1977.

Surviving are two sons: James Whitted of Virginia and Jon Michael Whitted of Brazel, IN; one daughter, Patricia Ann Gyger of Lebanon, IN; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers: James, Henry, Charles, and Sherman Hardgrove; and one sister, Betty Sullivan.

She had worked at the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane and M. Fine & Sons. She was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church.

Services for Hazel Whitted will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Dalton – Bobby Dalton of Bedford (Pinhook area), IN, died Monday, February 28, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on January 30, 1928, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of George and Roxcena (Spray) Dalton. He married Maxine Fish on June 21, 1947, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Emmett G. Dalton of Bedford, IN; three daughters, Muriel Evans, Lois Guthrie, and Abby Flynn, all of Bedford, IN; one sister, Esther Guthrie of Orleans, IN; eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Walter, Thomas Gilbert, Clarence, Woodrow, and Bud Dalton; and five sisters: Hester Simmerman, Helen Hawkins, Elma Gutwald,, Ellen Theodosa Dalton, and Thelma Christina Dalton.

He was a retired farmer, school bus driver, and construction worker, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of White River Baptist Church.

Services for Hobby Dalton will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 1st, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Pinhook Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Parker – Kenneth R. Parker of Bedford, IN, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, February 28, 2000, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on February 27, 1919, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Claude and Nellie (Blake) Parker. He married Alice Pridemore, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Ray Parker of Mitchell, IN; one step-son, Earl Pridemore of Mitchell, IN; three sisters: Lucille Lake and Helen Hazel, both of Bedford, IN, and Doris Martin of Oolitic, IN; two grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his first wife, Grace (Stewart) Parker; two brothers, Cecil Parker and Claude Parker Jr.; and one grandson.

He was a retired truck driver and a World War II Army veteran.

Services for Kenneth Parker will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1st, at Cresthaven Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Speer officiating. Entombment will follow in Chresthaven Mausoleum with military rites accorded by members of American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, Bedford. Friends may call at the mausoleum chapel from noon until the service time Wednesday. Cresthaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Grubbs – Joyce Grubbs of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, February 27, 2000, at her residence. Born on March 17, 1937, in Monticello, IN, she was the daughter of Raymond G. and Thelma Crum Grubbs.

Surviving are close friends and caregivers: Deloris Manis, Lori Sears, Pat Herzner, Norma Lee, and Heather Dickerson. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She had been registered nurse for 42 years, having worked at Dunn Memorial Hospital, Hospitality House, Westview Nursing and Rehab Center, and serving as Director of Nursing at White River Lodge. She retired in November, 1999. She was a 1955 graduate of Orleans High School and a 1958 graduate of the Norton Memorial School of Nursing in Louisville.

There will be graveside services for Joyce Grubbs at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 8th, at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Herzner officiating. Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westview Nursing & Rehab Activity Department.

Reynolds – Dennis F. Reynolds of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, February 27, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on June 18, 1936, in Oolitic, IN, he was the son of Cubie and Ilene (Cain) Reynolds.

Surviving are companion, Phyllis Patton of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Denisa Childers of Bedford, IN; and one granddaughter, Jacey Childers of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, June and Josephine Reynolds and Norma Jenkins; and three brothers, Paul, Marvin and Darius Reynolds.

He was a bus driver for the Bedford Jr. High and a custodian for BNL High School. He had served in the Air Force for three years. He was a member of Southland Church of Christ, the Moose Lodge #689, and Eagles Lodge #654.

Services for Dennis Reynolds will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 1st, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Steve Douglas and Pastor Rick Bolton officiating. Burial will follow in Patton Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded by members of Gillen Post #33, American Legion. Johnson – Dorothy L. Johnson of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 25, 2000, at the Bedford Hospitality House. Born on February 12, 1919, in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of William and Eliza (Naylor) Kloene. She married Uzal Johnson on December 4, 1938, and he survives.HN

Also surviving are one son, John W. Johnson of Franklin, IN; one daughter, Jennifer Kimbley of Mitchell, IN; and one grandson, Nick Sipes of Bedford, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Herbert Kloene, who was killed in the Battle of Coral Sea during W.W. II.

She was a homemaker and of Protestant faith. She was a founding member of the Pink Ladies of Dunn Memorial Hospital, past president of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority, and active in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire Girls, and the P.T.A. in both Bedford and Shelbyville, IN.

Services for Dorothy Johnson will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 29th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Robert Dailey officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery in Morristown with the graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. King – Lawrence A. King of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, February 22, 2000, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on January 15, 1922, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Harrison and Hazel (Keithly) King.

Surviving are one son, Rickie King of Bloomington, IN; one daughter, Leilia Thompson of Bedford, IN; one sister, Geraldine Blackwell of Bloomington, IN; six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Charlotte King; and one brother, Louis King.

He was a quarry worker in Bloomington. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Moose and Eagles Lodges.

Services for Lawrence King will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 28th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Gary Cornwell officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, Bedford. Terry – Virginia M. Terry of Mitchell (Lawrenceport area), IN, died Wednesday, February 22, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Brn on June 3, 1942, in Marengo, IN, she was the daughter of William E. and Mildred K. (Roby) Elliott. She married Ralph Terry and he survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sheila Ratliff and Janet Woolston, both of Paoli, IN; her mother of Bedford, IN; two brothers, Earl "Chigger" Elliott of Bedford, IN, and the Rev. Charles Elliott of Howard, PA; four sisters: Sharon Lawyer of Dillon, MT , Brenda Cheek of Monticello, IN, Joyce Gibson of Oolitic, IN, and Rita Elliott of Bedford, IN; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, James S. Elliott.

She was a homemaker, a caregiver, and a graduate of Paoli High School. She was a member of TOPS No. 1236, Fishing Creek Chapel, and a former member of the Salvation Army.

Services for Virginia Terry will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 26th, at the Chastain Funeral Homer with the Rev. James Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceport Cemetery. Chenault – Kirby W. Chenault of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 22, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on March 17, 1958, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Kenneth "Coke" and Ethel (Hawkins) Chenault. He married Deena Gail Pace on August 15, 1978, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Kyle and Kevin Chenault, both at home; his mother, of Lawrence County, IN; two brothers, Danny Chenault of Bloomington, IN, and Dale Chenault of Carlsbad, NM; three sisters: Faye Shaver and Bette O'Brien, both of California, and Karen McDowell of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in death by his father.

He was a self-employed truck driver and had worked in the limestone industry.

Sochia – Rita M. Sochia of Mitchell, IN, and Potsdam, NY, died Tuesday, February 22, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on July 25, 1929, in Tupper Lake, NY, she was the daughter of Hector and Marie Rose (St. John) Brier. She married Wilfred Sochia on October 26, 1946, and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Gary Sochia of Mitchell, IN, and Tommy Sochia of Gouverneur, NY; two daughters, Vickie Douglas of Mitchell, IN, and Sherryjo Blum of Lawrenceville, NY; one brother, Frank Brier of Saranac Lake, NY; fourteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Alice Bigrow.

She was a homemaker and a member of Lawrenceville, NY, Fire Department Auxiliary and Spice Valley Homemakers Club. She was a member of many Bible study groups and attended the Cornerstone Church of God in Orleans, Community Christian Church in Parishville, NY, West Side Baptist Church in Gouverneur, NY, and Bethel Assembly of God in Massena, NY.

Services for Rita Sochia will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chastain Funeral Home with the Revs. Douglas Shear, Tom Shochia, Robert Blum, Richard Grace, and Jack Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at Lawrenceville, NY. Jenkins – Byrl T. Jenkins of Williams, IN, died Monday, February 21, 2000, at the Hospitality House. Born on October 5, 1909, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Harry Thornton and Sidney Locille (Hall) Jenkins. He married Louise Frances Goodman on August 14, 1934, and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters: Anah L. Crane of Fayetteville, IN, and Elizabeth A. Hickman of Bramble, IN; five sons: David B. Jenkins of Kensington, GA, Stephen T. Jenkins of Williams, IN, Joseph C. Jenkins of Alexandria, VA, Mark T. Jenkins of Humboldt, TN, and Philip N. Jenkins of Huntsville, AL; twenty-two grandchildren, and twenty-four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Harriet C. Allen, one grandchild, and one daughter-in-law.

He had worked at RCA in Bloomington and was a self-employed television repairman, antiques dealer, and a Baptist minister. A graduate of Bedford High School, he had attended Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga. He attended the Fayetteville Baptist Church.

Services for Byrl Jenkins will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24th, at the Fayetteville Baptist Church with Bros. Kenny Walden and Kenny Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Silverville Missionary Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 11 a.m. until the service time Thursday at the church. O'Brien – Eva O'Brien of Bedford, IN, died Monday, February 21, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on January 19, 1909, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Kern) Gaines. She married Hillis O'Brien on December 27, 1932, and he survives.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters: Louva Korzen, Anna Gaines, and three in infancy; and five brothers: Herbert, Harry "Stubb", Robert, and Louie Gaines, and one in infancy.

She had worked at Alfred's Lunch Room and at S.S. Kresge's. She was a volunteer with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Dunn Memorial Hospital and was a member of the First Christian Church and a charter member of the Bedford Boat & Sportsman Club. She was the first woman to fly solo in Lawrence County.

Services for Eva O'Brien will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23rd, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Corps – Gordon K. Corps of Lake Worth, FL, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 20, 2000, at his residence. Born on February 19, 1932, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Hubert and Clella (Hourigan) Corps. He married Patricia McCarrell on April 16, 1955, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Lisa Nichols of Lake Worth, FL; one son, William Corps of Martinsville, IN; one sister, Rhea Dawn Brown of Greenwood IN; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He retired from International Harvester Co. after thirty-nine years of service. He was an Army veteran and a member of the First Christian Church in Martinsville, IN;

Lundy – Douglas G. Lundy of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, February 20, 2000, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on June 5, 1924, in Virginia, he was the son of George W. and Grace (Nichels) Lundy. He married Thelma G. Sergent on December 26, 1951, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sisters: Jennette McCoy of Alpine, CA and Mary Lou Mark of San Diego, CA; three nieces, two nephews, and one sister-in-law, Peggy Lundy of Pontiac, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Lundy, Jr. and Clarence Lundy in infancy; and two sisters, Georgia Delores and Nevada Jean Lundy, both in infancy.

He retired from General Electric in Bloomington. He had served with the Conservation Corps until 1941 and was a World War II Army veteran. He attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.

Services for Douglas Lundy will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23rd, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Jon Lineback officiating. Potter – Helen L. Potter of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 18, 2000, at Westview Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. Born on November 28, 1934, in Iowa, the was the daughter of Austin and Adele Hitch. She married Howard "Tom" Potter on December 25, 1978, and he survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Sharon Wilson of Bedford, IN; two sons, David Carter of Indianapolis and Dan Carter of Florida; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lois.

She was employed by secretarial service in Bedford and was a member of the Otis Park Ladies Club and the American Legion Auxiliary

Services for Helen Potter will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Stan Wilson officiating. The body will be cremated Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the service time Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Taylor – Chris Taylor of Mitchell, IN, died Friday February 18, 2000, at Mitchell Manor. Born on September 3, 1930, in Orange County, IN, he was the son of Dave and Odie (Moffatt) Taylor. He married Edith May Craft, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John Taylor of Houston, TX, and Scott Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Rebecca Mayabb of Springfield, MO; two step-sons, Tandy Gibson and Larry Gibson, both of Shoals, IN; four step-daughters: Mabel Scarlett of Hillsboro, OR, Mary Tackett of Huron, IN, Sabrina Terrell and Susanna Connerly, both of Mitchell, IN; two brothers, Menlo Taylor of Orange County, IN, and Bud Taylor of Nashville, TN; three sisters: Martha Whalin of Mitchell, IN, Margaret Walton of Paoli, IN, and Helen Matthews of Princeton, IN; seventeen grandchilderen, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

He was a retired employee of the Ralph Rogers Company and was a farmer. He was a member of Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church in Orleans.

Services for Chris Taylor will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22nd, at Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lewis Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Shoals. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Haverly Mortuary and from 9 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at the church.

George – Hazel Louise George of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, February 17, 2000, at the Bedford Nursing Center. Born on August 15, 1911, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Bernie and Molly (Chaney) Ritchison. She married Homer Marshall George on March 17, 1931, and he died in 1970.

Surviving are one daughter, Sandra J. Deckard of Bedford, IN; one son, Jerry C. George of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Virginia Pace and Wilma Hatfield, both of Bedford, IN; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Dewey, Bill, and Donald B. Ritchison.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Delta Sigma Kappa sorority, Women's Department Club, American Association of Retired Persons, and Pink Ladies of Dunn Memorial Hospital.

Services for Hazel George will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Jon Lineback officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Saturday and fromm noon until the service time Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The Order of Eastern Star service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday. Banta – Beulah L. Banta of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 15, 2000, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on September 10, 1927, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Cain) Mason. She married Clifford P. Banta on July 14, 1964, and he died October 1993.

Surviving are three sisters, Mildred King, Brenda Bundy, and Carolyn Butler; and three brothers, Kenneth, Leroy, and James Mason, all of Bedford, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Billy Mason; and one sister, Betty, Goodman.

She retired from RCA and was a member of the Dive Christian Church and the Bedford Medical Center Auxiliary.

Services for Beulah Banta will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19th, at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Friday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Perry – Dolores Perry of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 15, 2000, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on May 15, 1924, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Oscar and Mamie (Bailey) Cooper. She married Crit Perry on August 15, 1989, and he survives.

Also surviving are one step-son, Gerald Perry of Bedford, IN; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one step-daughter, Gardell Hackney; and nine brothers and sisters.

She retired from Kmart in Bedford and was a member of the First Christian Church.

Stivers – James Earl Stivers of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 15, 2000, at his residence. Born on March 26, 1942, in Stinesville, IN, he was the son of Raymond "Dee" and Ruby Mae (Sims) Stivers. He married Lena Evelyn Barber on May 22, 1961, and she survives.

Also surviving are three sons: Sol Wayne Stivers of Bedford; James Thomas Stivers of Jasper, IN; and Adam Troy Stivers of Otwell, IN; one daughter, Veronica Barker of Bloomington, IN; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters: June Hickman of Smithville, IN; Wanda Ludwig, Linda Stivers, and Janice Stivers, all of Bloomington, IN; five brothers: Morris Stivers of Solsberry, IN; Claude Stivers, Larry Stivers, and Mike Stivers, all of Bloomington, IN; and Raymond "Red" Stivers of Spencer, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Butcher, one sister, Dorothy Hall, one grandson, Thomas William Barker, and one granddaughter, Jessica Rose Stivers.

He had worked in area stone mills and attended the Crossroads Community Church in Lawrence County.

Services for James Earl Stivers will be at 1:00 p.m. on February 18, 2000, at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford with the Pastors Ken Ransom and Phil Thorne officiating. Norrington – Darrell R. Norrington of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, February 14, 2000, at his residence. Born on September 4, 1945, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of James M. and Ethel M. (Carter) Norrington. He married Delores Waggoner on September 6, 1969, and she survives.

He retired from General Motors Powertrain in 1998 and was a graduate of Mitchell High School, a U. S. Army veteran, a 34-year member of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion, and a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Orleans First Baptist Church.

Henderson – Lee Stanley "Stack" Henderson of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, February 13, 2000, at his residence. Born on November 27, 1929, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of Lee Claude and Ruth Ellen (Baugh) Henderson.

Surviving are one daughter, Teresa Hollars of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Mary Hutschlar of Mitchell, IN; one granddaughter, and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Martin, and four brothers: James, Vernon, Robert, and Claude Henderson.

A retired from the U. S. Army, he was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was Past Commander of the Martin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9107 and was a member of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post 250. He was a life member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsmens Club.

Johnson – Mary E. Johnson of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, February 13, 2000, at White River Lodge. Born on December 15, 1903, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Everett and Josie May (Keck) Toon. She married John A. Johnson on December 23, 1922, and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1982.

Surviving are two daughters: Betty Baker of Bedford, and Ritta Brock of Vista, CA; one sister, Thelma Hall of Bedford; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Louie Johnson; three sisters: Mabel Porter, Dorothy Meadows, and Ruth Gannon; and two brothers: Glenn and Guy Toon.

She was a housewife and a member of the First Church of God, where she was active in the Missionary Society and sang in the choir for forty years. She also sang in the all ladies civic choir. She operated a restaurant on "J" street in Bedford named "John & Mary's".

Hubbard – Crystal T. (Browning) Hubbard formerly of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, February 12, 2000, at Port Saint Lucie Medical Center in Port Saint Lucie, FL. Born on May 9, 1910, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Homer "Fred" and Lula Mae (Helton) Browning. She married Robert Harrell Hubbard on May 13, 1929, in Jasper, IN, and he preceded her in death on August 14, 1974.

Surviving are one son, Jack Harold Hubbard of Lebanon, IN; one daughter, Patsie Jackson of Port Lucie, FL; eight grandchildren, including Mrs. Shelley Kern Kenworthy of Bedford; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Myrtle Jeanette Hardesty of NJ, and Barbara Denniston of Bedford.

She was a homemaker and attended the First United Methodist Church in Bedford.

Abel – Margie Alice Abel of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, February 11, 2000, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on January 25, 1933 in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of William and Gladys (Bowden) Parsons. She married Roy L. Abel and he survives.

Also surviving are four daughters: Debbie Carol Johnson and Virginia Christine Abel-Bartlett, both of Bloomfield, IN, Karen Jean Abel of Dallas, TX, and Shannon Ann Abel of Mitchell, IN; her mother of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Mary Lois Spaulding of Indianapolis; two brothers, James Vernon Parsons of Shoals, IN, and Donald Gene Parsons of Mitchell, IN; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Christina Marie Parsons.

She was a member of the Mitchell Church of Nazarene.

Keith – Rebecca J. Beaver Keith of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 11, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on June 20, 1930, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of John Elmer and Lottie (Crawford) Beaver. She married Irvin Elwood Keith on October 20, 1983, and he preceded her in death on September 20, 1987.

Surviving are one sister, Priscilla Chastain of Bedford; three brothers: Harold, Phillip, and Ralph Beaver, all of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Louis, Frank, and one infant; and two sisters in infancy.

She worked for thirty-four years in medical services and in Diagnostic Radiology Department at M.D. Anderson Hospital & Tumor Institute in Houston, TX. She was of Protestant Faith and a graduate with the Bedford High School Class of 1948.

Magnus – James Magnus, Jr. of Bedford, IN, formerly of Oolitic, IN, died Friday, February 11, 2000, at the Westview Nursing Home. Born on April 9, 1936, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of James V. and Anna Geneva (Cain) Hughes. He married Gloria Jean Hughes on November 30, 1950, and she died November 29, 1992.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda West of Bedford, IN, and Belinda Goodwine of Dayton, TX; two sons, Jess Magnus and Greg Magnus, both of Bedford, IN; one brother, Henry Magnus of Oolitic, IN; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry, and one sister, Melinda.

He retired from Thomson Consumer Electronics in Bloomington after having worked there for twenty-seven years.

Mathews – Ralph Chester Mathews of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 11, 2000, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on August 16, 1916, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of James Delbert and Hazel May (Greene) Mathews. He married Mary Edna Skeen, and she survives.

Also surviving are three daughters: Sherri Moore of Bedford, IN, Linda Dillman and Shannon Johnson, both of Washington, IN; three brothers: Roy Clyde Mathews of Converse, IN, Vernon Mathews of New Smyma Beach, FL, and Willard Leon Mathews of Bedford, IN; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Payton Mathews in 1957; one daughter, Judy Mathews in 1988; and two sisters, Audrey Helen Holt and Bernice Illene Jenkins.

Burkhart – Bob L. Burkhart of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, February 10, 2000, at the Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, IN. Born on August 11, 1934, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Cecil and Alma (Edmondson) Burkhart. He married Sylvia Tanksley on May 27, 1955, at the First United Methodist Church in Bedford and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Chris Burkhart of Austin, TX, one daughter, Lorraine M. Ambrose of Austin, TX, four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one brother, Charles W. Burkhart of Winter Park, FL, and one sister, Jane Lyons of Orlando, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He had owned Brooking Heating Inc., in Bedford, since 1966 and had worked there since 1955. He graduated with the Bedford High School Class of 1953 and was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Bedford.

Born on June 8, 1946, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of James Matt and Mildred (Horn) Jarvis. She married Roy Cazee, Jr. on November 2, 1974, and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Timothy Cazee of Paris, CA, and Thomas M. Cazee of Bloomfield, MO; and three brothers, James M. and Gordon Jarvis, both of Spencer, IN, and Charles of San Pedro, CA; one sister, Dianna Hobs of Springville, IN; and three grandchildren.. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

She worked at the Four Winds Resort at Lake Monroe and was a member of the Lawrenceport United Methodist Church.

Dobrey – Steve Dobrey, Jr. of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on December 19, 1934, in southern Illinois, he was the son of Rosalea Odum. He married Janet M. Evetts on July 24, 1952, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Mark Dobrey of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Stephanie Dobrey Meadows of Bedford, IN; one grandson, Justin Smith of Bedford, IN; and two sisters, Dirla O'Neal of Cottage Hills, IL, and Deloris Rowland of Springfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dwayne Dobrey; and one son, Steven Dwayne Dobrey.

He retired from NBD (National Bank of Detroit) in Bedford in 1996. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills, IL, a former secretary for the Bedford Chamber of Commerce from 1986-89, a former member of the Rotary Club, Tri-County Bass Anglers, United Way, and Bedford Men's Bowling Association.

Phipps – Robert Phipps of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on October 6, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Barton and Violet (Lewis) Phipps. He married Ruth Kern in 1955, and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Gloria Owen of Deland, FL, two grandchildren, and one sister, Ruby Gail Owens of Needmore, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Phipps.

He was retired from Central Foundry Division of GM and a member of the Central Church of Christ. He was a veteran on the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 and the American Legion Gillen Post #33 of Bedford.

Brown – William Raymond Brown of Avoca, IN, died Monday, February 7, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on June 14, 1912, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Clarence J. and Nora (Tumey) Brown. He married Julia Ruth Owens on December 20, 1930, and she died February 21, 1991.

Surviving are one daughter, Bonnie R. George of Ellettsville, IN; three sons: Clarence Richard "Dick" and William "Bill" Brown, both of Bedford, IN, and Ronald "Rod" Brown of Indianapolis; ten grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Ann Armstrong; one sister, Bernice McDonald; and one grandchild.

He retired from Indiana Limestone Company and was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church and the Millworkers Union.

Surviving are three sons: Troy Blanton and Jeff Blanton, both of Bedford, IN, and Dustin Blanton of Oolitic, IN; three sisters: Ina Mack and Rose Pruett, both of Bedford, IN, and Betty Davis of Springville, IN; two brothers, Mark Way of Louisiana and Jim Way of Virginia; one grandchild and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She worked as a waitress at Golden Corral Restaurant in Bedford.

Miller – Kenneth J. Miller of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, February 5, 2000, at Westview Nursing and Rehab Center. Born on March 17, 1926, in Andrews, IN, he was the son of Odes Martin and Maude Mae (Stevens) Miller. He married Ethel Hall on August 1, 1959, and she died March 11, 1994.

Surviving are one half-sister, Vivian Garrison of Andrews, IN; six nieces, and four cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marcel Miller; one brother, Max Eugene Miller; one half-sister, Evelyn Taylor; and one nephews.

He retired in 1988 from Indiana Limestone Company. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Intrepid and was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post 33 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1586. He was also a member of Dive Christian Church and the Local Union No. 909.

Surviving are one daughter, Margaret M. Chambers of Jacksonville, FL; three nieces: Sandra Stewart of Bedford, IN, Kay Hutton of Tampa, FL, and Harriett Riley of Columbus, IN. She was preceded in death by one brother, Harry K. Thomas.

She was a homemaker and former of the Thomas Hotel in Bedford. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Order of Eastern Star, Hope Chapter #5, Lafayette, IN, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Eggers – Anna Louise Eggers of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 4, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on December 18, 1922, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Perry and Emma (York) McCart. She married Ray William Eggers on March 12, 1955, and he died August 10, 1997.

Surviving are three sisters: Bonnie Allen of Gulfport, FL, Mary Ruth Dyer of Seymour, IN, and Olive Eager of Mitchell, IN; two brothers, Bill McCart of Orleans, IN, and Lowell McCart of Bedford, IN. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janel Batchelor in 1951; three sisters, Katherine Wright, Jewell Zimmerman, and Fern Wicker; and two brothers, Chris and Otha McCart.

She was a homemaker and a member of Bedford Senior Citizens and Gospel Tabernacle.

Scherschel – Kenneth D. Scherschel of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, February 3, 2000, at the Bloomington Hospital. Born on January 23, 1944, he was the son of Roy and Gladys "Peggy" (Robbins) Scherschel. He married Carol Fish on June 8, 1964, and she survives.

Also surviving are his father, Roy Scherschel of Mitchell, IN; three daughters: Michele Cox, Jackie Moore and Kristie Scherschel, all of Bedford, IN; two brothers: Phil Scherschel of Bedford, IN, and Donnie Scherschel of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Mary Carol Jackson of Findlay, OH; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother.

He was a retired dairy farmer in northern Shawswick Township and for thirty years was a school bus driver for the North Lawrence Community Schools in the Shawswick School district. He served one term as the County Commissioner from District I. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Taylor – Robert Aden Taylor of Williams, IN, died Thursday, February 3, 2000, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on July 21, 1921, in Martin County, IN, he was the son of Henry Aden Taylor and Mayme Farrell Roberts. He married Delilah Marie White on May 7, 1949, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Stephen Mark Taylor of Williams, IN; three brothers: Lowell Taylor and Perry Taylor, both of Williams, IN, and Don Taylor of Bedford, IN; five sisters: Norma Coursey of Springville, IN, Roberta Cornelison and June Anderson, both of Bedford, IN, IN, Flora Jan Ray of Oolitic, IN, and Ada Evalene Riggle of Williams, IN; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Trella Marie Teague; one sister, Ferrell; two brothers, Chester and Karrol Taylor; and one grandson.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator with the Lawrence County Highway Department and was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving with the military police. He was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church and Airstream International (WBCCI) since 1974.

Young – Hazel Young of Norman, IN, died Thursday, February 3, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on October 31, 1938, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Irvin and Dessie (Wade) Hicks. She married Robert Young on May 17, 1955, and he survives.

She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Eva Sowders Stevens; and one brother, Russell Hicks in infancy.

She was a homemaker.

Martin – Leonard E. "Lee" Martin of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on November 10, 1924, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Leenon and Nellie (Luttrell) Martin. He married Wanda Means on May 24, 1946, and she died June 14, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Adele Martin and Carol Allen, both of Bedford, IN; two sons, Michael L. Martin of Louisville, KY, and David E. Martin of Bedford, IN; one sister, Mary Jane Tuttle of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Louise Martin; and one brother in infancy.

He retired in 1986 as a sales representative for Sears. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Oolitic, life member and past commander of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, and a member of Voiture 40&8 No. 1192. He was an avid golfer and was of Protestant faith.

Services for Leonard Martin will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Nelson – Bertha Myrtle Nelson of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000, at Hospitality House. Born on August 23, 1913, in Hart County, KY, she was the daughter of John William Harrison and America (Sandidge) Buckner Staggs. She married John Soloman Nelson on August 8, 1931, and he died March 21, 1970.

Surviving are three sisters: Renie Mae Brown, Mary Chenault, and Helen Staggs, all of Bedford, IN; one step-daughter, Virginia Miller of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by eight brothers: John W., George B., Walter, Gerald, Alfred H., Perry E., Vernon O., and Harvey B Staggs; four sisters: Pearl E. Wilcutt, Martha Staggs, Radia E. Henderson, and L. Marie Osborne; and one step-son, David Nelson.

She was a retired custodian of the Bedford schools, a former trailer court owner in Gary, and a farmer. She was of Protestant faith.

Williams – Diana Thomas Williams of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000, at the home of her daughter. Born on December 4, 1910, in Knox County, KY, she was the daughter of Millard and Delorah (Jones) Jarvis. She married Gordon Thomas on March 8, 1930, and he died August 1, 1957. She married Wiley Ray Williams on May 27, 1960, and he died November 30, 1988.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Alice Beeler of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, and Mary A. Acton of Mitchell, IN; one step-son, Lawrence O. Thomas of Indianapolis; one sister, Beatrice Williams of Bedford, IN; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Edna Compton, Josephine Williams, Alice Jarvis, and Mariah Pettit; and four brothers, Delmar, James Matt, Ishmael Pete, and Millard Jarvis Jr.

She had worked at Real Silk Hosiery Mills and J.C. Penney in Indianapolis, the Spring Mill Inn, and the Carousel Restaurant. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star No 503, Lawrence County Grandmothers Club, Spring Mill Smile Club, Birthday Bridge Club and Camelot Court Ladies Card Club.

Services for Diana Williams will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 5th, at the Chastain Funeral Home with the Revs. Raymond Bunn and Robert Kirkman officiating. Briscoe – Lorena Frances Briscoe of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on September 18, 1926, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Ora V. and Hopal V. (Matthew) Broscoe.

Surviving are seven brothers: twin Louis "Doodle" Briscoe of Bedford, IN, Robert Briscoe of Bloomington, IN, Wilbur, Walter "Bus", Leroy, Richard, and Basil Briscoe, all of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Bonnie Duncan of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruby Smith and Fern Watson; and one brother, James Briscoe.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mitchell.

Brown – Betty Lou (Neal) Brown of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at the Bloomington Hospital. Born on January 24, 1927, in Casey, IL, she was the daughter of Lester and Lois (Ritchison) Hughes. She married George W. Neal. She then married Russell Brown.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Craig of Williams, IN, and Mary Thompson of Leesville, IN; her step-mother, Ula Hughes of Lawrenceport, IN; one brother, Don Hughes of Lawrenceport, IN; one sister, Barbara Aufenburg of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Virginia Basinger; one brother, Gordon Hughes; and one great-grandchild, Jared Nikirk.

She had worked at Central Foundry and attended Charity Chapel Church.

Cornett – Walter Cornett of Williams, IN, died Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on December 19, 1927, in Diablock (Perry County), KY, he was the son of Boyd and Mary (McLemore) Cornett. He married Allene Adams on August 4, 1951, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Warren Cornett of Williams, IN; three sisters: Salley Daviess of Alabama, Hattie Bowman of Melbourne, FL, Georgia Plummer of Williams, IN; two brothers, Fred Cornett of Williams, IN, and Leonard Cornett of Shoals, IN; and one step-granddaughter, Deanna Johnson of Williams, IN; He was preceded in death by one sister, Bertie Keith, and six brothers: Lawrence, Robert, William, Johnny, Vernon, and Troy.

He retired from NAD Crane, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church of Williams, where he was a deacon and treasurer.

Services for Walter Cornett will be at 12 noon on Friday, February 4th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Dana Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery with military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33 of Bedford. Parish – Charles E. Parish of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, January 31, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on February 3, 1921, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Elmer and Elsie (Wade) Parish. He married Margaret Powell on December 23, 1939, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Charles "Butch" Parish of Mitchell, IN; four daughters: Barbara Doyle and Karen Passmore, both of Mitchell, Sondra Parish of Little Rock, AR, and Caroline McCormick of Indianapolis of Indianapolis; one brother, Carl Parish of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Oma Mae Holt of Mitchell, IN; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, one grandson, one great-grandson, and one great-great-grandson.

He retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane in 1970 and was a World War II Navy and Army veteran. He was a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ and the Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, Mitchell.

Services for Charles Parish will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 4th, at the Mitchell Church of Christ with Bro. Allen Burris officiating. Entombment will be in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Military rites will be accorded by the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Parrott – Violet Parrott of Sebree, KY, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, January 31, 2000, in Sebree. Born on September 28, 1919, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Emmons and Bessie (Hill) Parrott.

Surviving are one son, Bradley Parrott of Henderson, KY; two brothers, Elmo Parrott of La Mesa, CA, and Emmons "Buster" Parrott of Los Angeles, CA; one sister, Mary Jeanette Omarod of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother.

She retired from Essex in Orleans and also had worked at Spring Mill State Park Inn and was a beautician. She was a member of the Mitchell First Baptist Church.

Services for Violet Parrott will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3rd, at the Haverly Mortuary with the Rev. Robert Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until the service time Thursday at the mortuary.

Todd – Juanita E. Todd of Bedford, IN, died Monday, January 31, 2000, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on September 16, 1922, in Heltonville (Lawrence County), IN, she was the daughter of Sam and Flonie (Siegler) Hawkins. She married Warren Charles Kopp on June 3, 1939, and he died March 20, 1945. She married Charles P. Todd on September 4, 1946, and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Warren Charles "Chuck" Kopp of Bedford, IN, and Tim Todd of Mooresville, IN; one daughter, Carol Dianne Allen of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Mary Dodds of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Estel and Hap Hawkins; and one sister, Pauline Hanners.

She was a homemaker and was of Baptist faith.

Services for Juanita Todd will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 3rd, at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Sister Joan Luerman officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Bennett – Virginia Bennett of Lawrenceport, IN, died Sunday, January 30, 2000, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born on October 29, 1925, in Lee County, VA, she was the daughter of Henry Marshall and Nancy Emma (Sage) Hall. She married Cletis "Bud" Bennett on April 3, 1948, and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Larry L. and Charles "Rick" Bennett, both of Mitchell, IN; three daughters: Diana "Susie" Hall of Orleans, IN, Kay Mundy and Nancy Edwards, both of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Aston "Buck" Hall of Mitchell, IN; seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, five brothers, and one grandson.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Lawrenceport United Methodist Church.

Cole – Steven D. Cole of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, January 30, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on May 1, 1983, in Marion County, IN, he was the son of Steve W. and Marian Ellen Cole.

Surviving are his father, Steve of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Kelly Ryan and Susan Cole, both of Bedford, IN; and one brother, Chris Ryan of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.

McFadden –Also surviving are one daughter, Diana Allen of Bedford, IN; two sons, Lee McFadden of Anderson, IN, and Joe McFadden of Bedford, IN; two brothers, Robert and Lloyd McFadden, both of Bedford, IN; one sister, Norma Williams of Bloomington, IN; nine grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilou McFadden.

He retired from General Motors Powertrain.

Terrell – Martha M. Terrell of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, January 30, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on December 25, 1910, in Chaplin, KY, she was the daughter of William Jordan and Dorinda M. (Carey) Terrell. She married Agan Terrell in 1942, and he died in 1974.

Surviving are one daughter, Joan Voigt of Oklahoma City, OK; three sisters: Christine Thomas and Margaret Barnard, both of Mitchell, IN, and Katherine Fricke of Escondido, CA; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

She had managed the Value Dress Shop in Bedford, Effrons Dress Shop and Miracle Clothing, both in Mitchell. She was a member of the Mitchell Presbyterian Church and Order of Eastern Star.

Services for Martha Terrell will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 3rd, at the Haverly Mortuary with the Rev. Marge Braden officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until the service time Thursday at Haverly Mortuary.

Guthrie – Marguerite (Margo) Guthrie of Tunnelton, IN, died Saturday, January 29, 2000, at the Bedford Hospitality House. Born on May 6, 1914, she was the daughter of Arch E. and Marie (Ellison) Sullivan. She married John Guthrie on June 11, 1932, and he died April 18, 1996.

Surviving are one grandson, Kurt Clamp of Dallas, TX; one brother, George Sullivan of Clatskanie, OR; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Guthrie Clamp, and two brothers: Marrill and Marion Sullivan.

She was a retired bookkeeper at the Indiana School of the Deaf in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Tunnelton United Methodist Church.

Mundy – Beatrice "Bea" Mundy of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, January 29, 2000, at the Bloomington Hospital. Born on April 10, 1917, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Cecil and Priscilla (Smith) Case. She married Calvin Mundy on October 10, 1936, and he died in 1979.

Surviving are three sons: Joe M. and David Mundy, both of Mitchell, IN, and Jerry Mundy of Bedford, IN; three daughters: Linda Kay Asbery of Orleans, IN, Judy Asbery of Mitchell, IN, and Amy Beckett of Washington, IN; three sisters: Miriam Stewart of Atlanta, GA, Carol Ann Christie of Florida, and Gretchen Fishback of Ohio; one brother, Kenneth Case of Louisville, KY; eleven grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Violet May Mundy; one son, Richard Mundy; two brothers, Winfred and Richard Case; one sister, Helen Wilson; and three grandsons.

She had been employed at Trav-Lers Radio Corp. and Essex Group. She was a member of the Stonington Church of Christ.
