“Water is the driving force of all nature.“
- Leonardo da Vinci
There’s something about bodies of water that are wondrous, inspiring. I’ve been magically attracted to them since I was knee high to a duck. From ponds, to lakes, to rivers to oceans, I’ve developed this mysteriously magnetic pull.
I fished ponds, swam in lakes, explored rivers and sat seaside experiencing many a sunset. They always enliven my spirit and help bring balance to my domain.
I’ve journeyed north, south, east and west. Almost always I eventually wind up in water. Whether in Miami, Minneapolis, Mesa or Missoula, I’ve felt that unquenchable urge to submerge. It’s just so cleansing, refreshing.
My favorite body of water?
The Gulf of Mexico. Although, Maui also ranks high on my list of valued venues.
The Gulf’s allure is indefinable, timeless. It makes me feel at one with the universe. It’s a soothing bliss indescribable via words.
There’s nothing comparable to falling asleep to the soft rippling surf. Such a peaceful, easy feeling.
The water splashes and flows, yet it is always there. A constant in a wavering world.
Perhaps someday I’ll be fortunate enough to reside by the sea. Until then, I’ll seek solitude aside the cement pond. A guy must do what a guy must do.
My favorite song is James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain.” Yes, I’ve seen fire and I have seen rain. I have also witnessed a powerful hurricane up close and personal.
Water is wonderful, but hurricanes are horrible, almost beyond description.
Don’t toy with one. I’ve never been tempted to see another.
Be safe.
