AT&T, Human-I-T to Donate 100 Laptops to Lawrence County Families and Provide Fiber Update

 

Company to also announce that it’s completed two of three public-private projects in rural Lawrence County and launched AT&T Fiber in the City of Bedford.


WHAT: At an event Wednesday, AT&T will announce the donation of 100 refurbished laptops to pre-selected organizations that support Lawrence County families and provide an update on its projects to build AT&T Fiber in the county. 

 

AT&T and Human-I-T are providing 100 laptops to the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council to distribute to organizations that assist local families. The computers, funded by an AT&T contribution, will be made available to recipients in need who have digital divide barriers.

 

AT&T will also announce that it has launched AT&T Fiber in the City of Bedford and completed two of the three public-private projects with Lawrence County to build AT&T Fiber in rural portions of the county.

WHY: According to U.S. Census Bureau data, millions nationwide, including in Indiana, still don’t have access to the internet or connected devices needed to fully participate in the online world – an issue known as the digital divide.

 

This effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address this divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
