Choose Southern Indiana is a talent attraction and workforce development incentive payment initiative to attract qualified out-of-state individuals or families who relocate to the region.
The Employer Incentive Program will assist businesses in Lawrence County with attracting new talent by providing incentive payments to new, out-of-state employees hired by local businesses. Lawrence County Economic Growth Council will lead this initiative in partnership with Radius Indiana.
The employer must complete a grant application online and receive approval (www.choosesouthernindiana.com).
The employer must send a copy of the offer letter from the hiring company to verify the job offer, job title, and salary, which must be a minimum of $50,000.
The employee will receive the $5,000.00 incentive, divided into two payments of $2,500.00:
The first payment will be disbursed once the prospective employee arrives in the Radius Region.
The second payment will be disbursed one year from the date of the prospective employee’s arrival.
The prospective employee must commit to living in the Radius region for two (2) years.
Individual local economic development organizations have the right to decide if prospective employees must live in their county or anywhere within the Radius Indiana region (Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Orange or Washington County).
Radius Indiana will contribute $3,500.00 towards the $5,000.00 incentive. Participating employers of Lawrence County will contribute the other $1,500.00 to complete the incentive.
If the prospective employee chooses to leave the Radius region prior to living there for two years, they will be required to pay the $5,000.00 incentive back to Radius Indiana and the other contributing payer.
For each prospective employee, there shall be a written agreement between Radius Indiana and the hiring company identifying all the requirements above.
