The Fourth Annual Mark Starr Cutter Classic will take place on Saturday, January 24, in the Quarry at Bedford Middle School. The tournament features eighth-grade boys and girls basketball teams from across the area, with all proceeds helping to fund a scholarship given in the memory of Mark Starr, a beloved Bedford Middle School coach and teacher who passed away in 2021.
In addition to the tournament games, a silent auction will once again take place in the gym. Added last year, the auction was a tremendous success, and organizers promise even more items available for bidding this year.
Games will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at approximately 7:00 p.m. Admission for the day is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Participating boys teams include Bedford Middle School, Mitchell, Springs Valley, and Washington. Participating girls teams include Bedford Middle School, Mitchell, Springs Valley, and Edgewood.
Anyone interested in making a contribution to the silent auction or offering a monetary gift toward the Mark Starr Memorial Scholarship is encouraged to contact:

This year’s event is proudly sponsored by Crowder’s Pharmacy and Whole Living Medical, two locally owned healthcare businesses committed to supporting youth, education, and community causes in Bedford. Organizers hope other local businesses will join them in sponsoring this special event to help grow the scholarship fund and continue honoring Mark’s legacy.
