Judith (Blevins) Padgett, 72, Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Lawrence County, died Thursday in Arizona.
She was retired.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Heflin and Deirdre Padgett, both of Arizona, and Pamela Ellis of California; one son, David Padgett, Arizona; two sisters, Glenda Cobb, Bedford and Martha Demaniou, Arizona; one brother, J. Carl Blevins, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Avenue, Glendale, Ariz.

Lenora P. Bauer, 84, of Bedford, died Thursday at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford.
Born Aug. 22, 1924, in Nebraska, she was the daughter of Walter and Marie (Whije) Dickman.
She was formerly married to Ted Bauer, who deserves a special thanks for all the care that he has given to Lenora.
She retired from RCA Electronics in Bloomington, and worked more than 11 years at Ford Electronics in Bedford.
She was a lifetime Member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Henry, and her husband. William. of North Carolina; two sons, Larry Bauer and Mark Bauer, both of Bedford; eight grandchildren, Tristen Bauer, Travis Bauer and Jessica Emmons, all of Bedford, Jarrid Bauer of Oregon, Ron Tow of Williams, and Scott Tow, Shane Tow and Patrick Henry of North Carolina; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steven Bauer; one daughter, Marsha Kay Bauer; and one grandchild, Stephanie Bauer, in infancy.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

James Franklin Crail Jr.

James Franklin Crail, of Bloomington, passed away at Bloomington Hospital on Thursday, June 25, 2009. He was 75 years old.
Jim was born December 22, 1933, in Indianapolis to James Franklin and Dessie Deckard Crail. Jim spent most of his professional career as a truck driver for the United States Postal Service. He spent countless hours in the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jim leaves behind a large and loving family. They are his wife Martha Elizabeth Homan Crail of Bloomington; children Cara Bulich and her husband Eric of Springville; Kathy Crail of Solsberry; David Crail of Bloomington; Dennis Crail of Springville; Pam Dibble and her husband Greg Dibble of Canandaigua, New York; Mark Crail of Bloomington; and Jimmy Crail III of Oolitic. The grandchildren Jim leaves behind are Crystal Flynn, Theresa Crail, Samantha Crail, Jeremy Crail, Joshua Crail, Nick Crail, John Crail, Mark Crail, Jr., Amber Dibble, Sara Thompson, Lindsay Dibble and Brandon Dibble. His great-grandchildren who survive are Tyler Crouch, Colton Flynn, Tommy Crail, Kenny Crail, Olivia Crail, Makayla Crail, and Caden Everett Thompson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Katherine Crail.
Funeral service for Jim will be held Monday, June 29, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 South old Highway 37. Burial will be in the Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Visitation will also be held Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Elnora J. Mitchell, 79, Thralls Road, Mitchell, died at 6:55 a.m. on Thursday at Monroe Medical Park in Bloomington.
She was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Mitchell, the daughter of Cleatys and Ruby Lee (Tillette) Richason. She married Bobby Mitchell on Dec. 13, 1971, and he survives.
She was a homemaker and she and her husband ran the office of Mitchell’s Pest Control in Monroe, Lawrence and surrounding counties.
She was a member of the American Legion in Bloomington.
Surviving with her husband, Bobby of Mitchell; are one daughter, J.L. Kelley Blair and husband John of Bloomington; one son, Randy Kelley of Mitchell; two stepsons, Jerry Mitchell and wife Janet of Fort Wayne, and Ric Mitchell and wife Barbara of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Whitney and Kasey Kelley, Temple Baralto, Cinnamon Kelley and Brittany Blair, Heather Morin and Christopher Mitchell; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley York, Orleans; one niece LeeAnn Burton of Orleans and one nephew, Robert York of Fayetteville, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arthur David “Sonny” Richason.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ferguson-Lee Haverly Chapel in Mitchell. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery.

Whitney Payton White, 46, 1500 Ridge Road, Williams, died at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday at her residence.
Born Aug. 6, 1962, in Urbana, Ill., she was the daughter of Bill and Loretta (Murrell) Berry. She married Edward White on Dec. 11, 2008, in Bedford, and he survives.
She was a homemaker and previously drove a semi truck for Don’s Trucking Company.
She attended Unity Missionary Baptist Church. She still cared deeply for her former husband Bill Payton and his mother Catherine Payton. She loved her two dogs Squirt and Buddy. Christmas was her favorite time of the year.
Surviving with her husband, Edward White of Williams; are her father and stepmother, Bill & Linda Berry of Terre Haute; two brothers, Brian Berry of Urbana, Ill., and Scott Berry of St. Louis; and one stepbrother, Brian Hughes of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her mother Loretta Berry.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cresthaven Memory Gardens where burial will follow.

George Joseph Caraway, 70, Bedford, died at 10:25 a.m. Sunday at Bedford Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 6, 1938, in Bedford, he was the son of Othel and Phyllis (Brown) Caraway. He married Cheryl Simpson Holt in 1986; and she survives.
He worked in housekeeping at Dunn Memorial Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 2000. He was a graduate of Williams High School with the class of 1959 and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving with his wife Cheryl Caraway of Bedford; are two daughters, Katherine South of Orleans, and Melissa Pittman of Mitchell; four grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Fisher of Bedford and Mary Swayze of Canby, Oregon; seven brothers, James Caraway, Tom Caraway, Steve Caraway and Charles Caraway, all of Bedford; Paul Caraway of North Vernon, Greg Caraway of Bloomington and Vincent Caraway of Omaha, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Raymond Caraway; and one sister, Cecilia Caraway.

Luther K. Miller, 89, Springville, died Sunday at the Waters Nursing Home in Greencastle.
He was a construction worker, a farmer and a minister of the Apostolic Pentecostal faith.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion in Solsberry.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice L. McLeod, Greenfield, and Linda Lou Crohn, Ellettsville; four sons, Luther A. “Butch” Miller, Bloomington, David B. Miller and Daniel R. Miller, both of Springville, and Donald P. Miller of Marlin, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford with Brother Don Lane officiating. Burial will be in the Flynn Cemetery in Greene County with graveside military rites by the Bloomfield American Legion Post.

Rev. Justus Peyton

The Rev. Justus ‘Juddie’ Peyton, 84, passed away Sunday at StoneBridge Health Campus.
Born Aug. 22, 1924, in Turkey Knob, W.Va., he was the son of Berry Mark Peyton and Sally Rupe Peyton. Juddie was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, in 1949. He later attended Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Ky., and became an ordained minister.
On Christmas Day 1952, he married the former Eunice Shelton of Dublin, Va. They have one daughter, Betty Nowling, who resides in Bloomington with her husband, Colby Nowling, and daughter Lacy Nowling. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Inez Price and Ruth Brown; and two brothers, Harry R. Peyton and Leslie Peyton.
For many years, Juddie traveled as an evangelist and singer across the United States and overseas. He pastored several churches and for 12 years was the President and Director of Evangelistic Faith Missions, an interdenominational missionary organization with an active radio ministry in several states and countries.
Juddie was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandpa and friend. His unwavering faith in God, his sweet and kind personality and keen sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Faith Mission Church with Rev. Leonard Sankey officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion.

Bob White, 78, of 27 S. Hill Drive, Bedford, died at 9 a.m. on Monday at his residence.
He was the owner of Bob White’s LP Gas and Mitchell Bottle Gas Inc., which he started in 1960 and sold in 1996. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy of Bedford; three daughters, Linda Foddrill, and Sherry Rainey, both of Bedford, and Pamela Burnette, Paoli; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delilah Taylor, Fayetteville, and Sondra Eagan, Williams; several nieces and nephews.

Joseph Patrick “Joe Pat” Mason, former mayor of Dutchtown and founder of the Dutchtown Irish Clan, died June 16.

Shirley C. Courter, 76, Bedford, died at 7:40 p.m. Friday at the Bedford Regional Medical Center in Bedford.
Born April 2, 1933, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Orval Smith and Josie (Melvin) Smith Miller. She married Aaron Courter in 1958, and he preceded her in death in May of 1985.
She was a homemaker and had attended Charity Chapel in Bedford.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Barbara Batemen, Trinity Springs; two brothers, Joe Sullivan and Billy Dean Sullivan, both of Bedford; seven sisters, Mary DeArmond, Helen Good, Lois Ritter, Rhea Hays, and Marilyn Sullivan, all of Bedford, Carol Manual of Austin, and Ruth Ann Cain of Solsberry; and many nieces and nephews.

Elmer Olin Richter, 79, 4741 State Road 54 West, Springville, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Friday at his residence.
Born May 4, 1930, in Greensburg, he was the son of Everett and Alice Blanche (Edelman) Richter. On Sept. 21, 1957, he married Ruth Moore.
He worked for Central Rubber & Supply in Indianapolis until 1978, then became the owner of Rocky Top Country Store in Springville.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from September 1948 until April 1954. He was a member of F&AM Broad Ripple Masonic Lodge No. 643, Murat Shrine, 33rd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and the Murat Mini Cycles. His memberships also included the White River Valley Antique Association, Lawrence County Rock Club, Railroadiana, Monon Railroad Society, and the American Lock Collectors Association.
Surviving with his wife, Ruth (Moore) Richter of Springville; are two sons, Maurice Richter and wife Brenda of Franklin, and Kevin Richter and wife Anna of Oolitic; two daughters, Cheryl Evans and husband Wes of Bloomington, and Dee Thomas and husband Donnie of Bedford; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Stuart and Preston; two brothers, Daniel and Wayne; and one sister, Mary Lipp.

Etta Mae Mize, 87, Bedford, died at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.
Born June 23, 1921, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Moses Fell and Ollie (George) Boofer. She married Raymond Mize on June 28, 1942, in Indianapolis, and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1997.
She was retired from General Motors.
She attended Oolitic schools, was a member of Eastern Star, Hillcrest Christian Church where she was WCG of the church, Hillcrest Senior Saints and UAW No. 440.
Survivors include one son, Larry W. Mize and his wife Beth of Martinsville; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Wilma Childers; and two brothers, Edward and Ira Boofer.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford with the Rev. Charles Scott and the Rev. Floyd Brick officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Clara M. Wagner, 69, of 1104 T Street, Bedford, died at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday at her residence.
Born Dec. 3, 1939, in Carthage, Tenn., she was the daughter of Archie W. and Zella Jared (Sullins) Bennett.
She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Art Simmons of Austin, Texas, Eddie Ratliff of Bloomington, and Jimmy Dillard of Lebanon, Tenn.; one daughter, Connie Reed of Bloomfield; one sister, June Elizabeth; two brothers, Frank and Wayne Bennett; seven grandchildren, Nikki, Danielle, Laura, Levi, Kaiti, Daniel and Mary; three great-grandchildren, Vincent, Hannah and Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ed Bennett.
As per her wishes, Clara has donated her body to the Indiana University School of Medicine. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Jackie Lee “Jack” Blackwell, 76, Bedford, died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford.
Born Aug. 23, 1932, in Mitchell, he was the son of Ernest and Lucille (Luttrell) Blackwell. He married Janice K. Smith on June 27, 1953, in Bedford, and she survives.
He was a self-employed entrepreneur.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 14 F&AM in Bedford; Scottish Rite and Shrine of Indianapolis Valley; Elks Lodge No. 826 of Bedford; and the First Baptist Church of Bedford.
Surviving with his wife, Janice K. Blackwell of Bedford; are one daughter, Julie Chase Rittenhouse and family of Bedford; two sons, Jim Blackwell and family of Atlanta, Ga., and Jeff Blackwell and family of Fishers; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Danny Blackwell of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leon and Robert Blackwell; and one sister, Shirley Sloan.

Marjorie Voorhies, 81, Mitchell, died at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday at White River Lodge in Bedford.
She was born July 28, 1927, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Charles & Ruth (Mundy) Wagoner.
She was a restaurant worker; a member of Dive Christian Church; a lifetime member of Mitchell American Legion Post No. 250 Ladies Auxiliary; and a lifetime member of the Bedford Boat Club.
Survivors include four sons, John David Voorhies and wife Leah of Mitchell, Denny Voorhies and wife LaDonna of Bedford, Danny Voorhies and wife Dianna of Bedford, and Dean “Bo” Voorhies and wife Dori of Mitchell; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy Milligan and Phyllis Hill, both of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Voorhies, two grandsons, Nathan Voorhies and K.P. Voorhies, two sisters, Gladys Nikirk and Mary Boling; and one brother, Harold Wagoner.

Peggy Rosalee Gilbert, 72, Mitchell, passed away at 10 a.m. Tuesday at her residence.
Born Jan. 27, 1937, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Edgar E. and Bertha (VanMeter) Robinson. She married Donald E. Gilbert Oct. 12, 1952, and he preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1996.
She had previously been employed at Dunn Memorial Hospital and Spring Mill Inn, and was a member of the First Christian Church.
Surviving are one son, Steven E. Gilbert and wife Angela of Mitchell; daughters, LaDonna R. Cormack and husband Harold of Mitchell, Debra Deeann Gilbert of Bedford, Misty Dawn Hartness and husband Carl of Amelia, Ohio, and Leesa Rachelle Gilbert of Franklin; one brother, Eddie Lee Robinson and wife Beverly of Mitchell; and eight grandchildren.

William F. “Bill” Henry, 84, Oolitic, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at his residence.
Born April 3, 1925, in Mitchell, he was the son of Charles and Pearl (Waggoner) Henry. He married Lois Lindley in 1946 in Shoals, and she survives.
He worked at National Gypsum and retired from NSWC Crane as a small arms repairman. He also volunteered at Bedford Regional Medical Center as a Yellow Jacket.
He attended Shoals High School and the Adams Street Chapel in Bloomington until his health failed. He was a lifetime member of the Shoals American Legion Post No. 61, a lifetime member of the Odon VFW, the National Rifle Association, AFGE and AARP. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife Lois of Oolitic; an adopted daughter, Erika Henry at home; a son, Max (Sharon) Henry of North Carolina; a daughter, Lisa (Dennie) Smith of North Carolina; a sister, Roberta (Glenn) Cave of French Lick; two brothers, Clifford and Kenneth Henry, both of North Carolina; four grandsons, Ron Tow of Williams, Shane and Scott Tow and Patrick Henry, of North Carolina; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, John and James Henry and Donald, in infancy.

Eugene Harold Foster, 81, Saginaw, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away Monday at Covenant Medical Center Cooper.
He was born Aug. 1, 1927, in Bedford, the son of the late Victor and Emma (Nagele) Foster. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1945.
Eugene served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II and received the Purple Heart. He then attended Indiana University and married Mary Lou Pitman, his loving wife of 58 years, on Aug. 26, 1950 and she survives.
Eugene was employed at General Motors Central Foundry as a financial analyst until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 4232 and American Legion Post in Bedford. Eugene belonged to the National Rifle Association and loved shooting and traveled to national matches in Ohio.
Surviving besides his wife Mary Lou are three sons, five daughters and their spouses, William and Susan Foster, Ann and John Belill, Mark Foster, Jane and Gerald Black, Mary and Lee Hill, Sister Sarah Foster, R.S.M., Patricia Bivens, Matthew and Lisa Foster; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special daughter-in-law, Debra Foster; and several nieces and nephews.
Eugene was preceded in death by a brother, Martin “Bud” Foster.
Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. John R. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery with military services by American Legion Post No. 439.

Robert M. “Bob” Mitchell, 79, of Bedford, died Saturday at his residence.
Born July 17, 1929, in Bedford, he was the son of Harlin and Mary Edna (Smith) Mitchell.
He married Hilda R. Miller on Oct. 16, 1949, and she preceded him in death.
He was a retired builder. He was the first president of the Nite Owls camping club, former president of the Bedford Home Builders Association, active in the Lawrence County Republican Party, and a supporter of the Boys Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Connie Diaz and her husband Walt of Indianapolis; one grandson, Mitch Diaz of Indianapolis; and three stepgrandchildren, Sara Diaz Darosa of Denver, Colo., Andrew Diaz of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tammy Hart of Knoxville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two sisters, Mona Merry and Irene Oliver.

He was retired from NWSC Crane Naval Base.
He was a Bedford High School graduate, and a U.S. Army Veteran of Korean War.

Ruth M. Trambaugh, 89, of Loogootee, died at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
She was born May 13, 1920, in Martin County, the daughter of William and Minnie (White) Hunt. She married Edward Trambaugh on Sept. 17, 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Loogootee. She had previously worked at Loogootee Textile and Sarkes-Tarzian in Bloomington.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Trambaugh and wife Cheryl of Jasper, Ronnie Trambaugh and wife Donna of Mitchell, and Larry Trambaugh and wife Janet of Washington; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Minnie Hunt; her husband, Edward Trambaugh; an infant grandson; and seven sisters.

Rhea Dawn HIllenburg, 83, Bedford, died at 3 p.m. Monday at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.
She was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Oolitic, the daughter of Holly and Gertrude (Thomas) Timms. She married Earl Hillenburg on Sept. 19, 1942, and he preceded her in death.
She was a factory worker, retiring from Extruded Alloys after many years of service.
She was a member of Dive Christian Church and Dive Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son, Tracy Hillenburg and wife Sue of Shoals; three daughters, Peggy Bundy of Oolitic, Marsha Horton of Bedford, and Kelly Reed of Mitchell; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several half-brothers and half-sisters in Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kevin Hillenburg; two sisters, Wanda Schmaltz and Sharon Holloway; and one brother, Marvin Timms.

He retired from RCA and was a member of the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene.
Jesse was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Jerry Eugene Slaten, 67, Mitchell, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Monday at his residence.
Born March 26, 1942, in Dubois County, he was the son of John Allen and Cora Elaine (Radcliff) Slaten. He married Henrietta Ruth Flora July 6, 1963.
He retired from Visteon and had worked at Crane.
He was a member of the Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM and the Paoli Church of the Nazarene. He also enjoyed hunting mushrooms.
Jerry served eight years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of an Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart.

Tony Rio, 90, of Oolitic, died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday at Dunn Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 21, 1919, in Altamonte, Italy, to Angelo and Angeliano (Ross) Rio. He married Eva Scofield on Dec. 8, 1943, and she survives.
He retired from NWSC (Crane) in 1974 after 30 years of service. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps as a paratrooper and medic.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, DAV and NARFE. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing and all outdoor sports.
Survivors include his wife Eva of Oolitic; one son, George D. (Susan) Rio of Oolitic; one daughter, Joyce (Donald) Robertson of Mitchell; four grandchildren; Anthony (Joanna) Rio of Albuquerque, N.M., Aaron Rio of Brooklyn, N.Y., Erika Robertson of Cambridge, Mass., and Katrina Robertson of Bloomington; and one brother, Mike Rio, Oolitic.

Gerald R. Curry, 77, 206 Shawnee Lane, Bedford, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at White River Lodge in Bedford.
He was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Danville, Ill., the son of Ivan & Thelma (Cronkhite) Curry. He married Judi Piper on July 21, 1973, in Avoca, and she survives.
He was a maintenance supervisor over large apartment complexes in Indianapolis, South Carolina and North Carolina.
He was of the United Methodist faith, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman, he also loved to help neighbors with any maintenence problems. He loved playing bridge and Euchre. Mr. Curry’s pleasant personality endeared him to everyone he met.
Surviving are his wife, Judi (Piper) Curry of Bedford; two daughters, Sally Woody of North Ogden, Utah, and Michelle Clair of Indianapolis; one son, Scott Thurley of Bloomington; one sister, Jean Shelby of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bill and Jim Curry.
Cremation was chosen. Burial at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the residence, 206 Shawnee Lane, Bedford.

He was married to Ramona Joy (Wisley) Peek for 34 years and she survives. He was a member of North Bedford Church of Christ.
He was a licensed plumber and last worked as a turkey farmer.
Timothy was born Sept. 11, 1952, in Bloomington, to Cloyd Andrew and Doris Judene (Kinser) Peek.
He leaves behind his wife; his father and wife; one daughter, Valerie Lynn Harris and husband Ty Scott Harris, and their children, Brianna, Brendan, and Braylynn, all of Greenville, S.C.; three sons, Lucas Ray Peek and wife Jana, and their children, Cloe and Cameron all of Proctorville, Ohio; and Marty Gene Peek and Samuel Joseph Peek, both of Shoals; one brother, Andy Lyle Peek and wife Pam of Bedford; two sisters, Jan Deckard and Melinda Peek, both of Bloomington; his father-in-law, Wendell Earl Wisley; one sister-in-law, Terri Pfaff and husband John; one brother-in-law, Wendell Earl Wisley II and wife Lisa, all of Bloomington; several aunts and uncles; many nieces and nephews; and a large church family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Judene (Kinser) Peek; his stepmother, Dorothy Peek; and his mother-in-law, Martha Louise (Terrell) Wisley.

A Memorial Service will be at noon on Saturday at the Harrodsburg Church of Christ. The service will be conducted by his uncle, Reggie Kinser and congregational singing will be led by Jon Roodschild.

Kim David Fleenor, 51, Orleans, died Thursday at his residence.
He was a farmer.
Survivors include his mother, Gene (Harvey) Fleenor, Orleans; two brothers, Dale Fleenor and Kevin Fleenor, both of Orleans; two nephews; and one niece.

Anah F. Lingenfelter
Jan. 22, 1916 — June 4, 2009
Anah F. Lingenfelter, 93, Monticello, died at 5 a.m. Thursday in Monticello.
She was born Jan. 22, 1916, in Bedford, the daughter of Theodore Gilbert and Francis Elizabeth (Tindle) Bell. She married Aldie Lingenfelter II in Jeffersonville and he preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1978.
Anah was born and raised in Bedford. She was a retired Registered Nurse. She served as a Director of Nurses, and as the Supervisor of Surgery, at the White County Memorial Hospital for numerous years in Monticello. After retiring from the hospital, she went to the Turtle Creek Nursing Home (now known as the Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center) in Monticello where she had served as Director of Nursing for 13 years. She was also a C.N.A Instructor at Parkeview Nursing Home in Francesville for several years.
She was a member of the Monticello Christian Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Crystal Chapter No. 165, Bunco Club and the White County Council on Aging, all of Monticello. She was also a member of the R.N. (Registered Nurses) Club, and the American Red Cross, White County Chapter, and A.A.R.P.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen (James) Goodnough of Granger; sons, Jim (Lu) Lingenfelter, and John M. (Lucy) Lingenfelter, both of Monticello, and Joe (Jan) Lingenfelter of Carmel; daughter-in-law, Kay Lingenfelter of The Villages, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy “Dottie” McClean of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, Aldie Lingenfelter III; a sister, Alma Hamilton; and brothers, Earl, Norman, Estil, and Austin Bell.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Monticello Christian Church, 1002 Airport Road, Monticello, with the Rev. Chris Dodson officiating. Burial will take place at Brookston I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Brookston.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service at the church.

Albert T. Morrison, 80, English, died Tuesday at his residence.
He was a retired machinist. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Morrison, English; one daughter, Pattie Morrison, Jacksonville, Fla.; one son, Joseph Morrison, English; two brothers, Robert Morrison, English, and George Vobroucek, Illinois; one stepsister, Stella Kroll, Chicago; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jesslyn (Owens) Pickens, 85, Bedford, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday at her residence.
Born July 23, 1923, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Leslie and Loretta (Carmichael) Owens. She married Loren Leon Pickens Sept.3, 1943, and he preceded her in death June 23, 1993.
She had been employed at RCA and was a secretary in the bursar’s office at Indiana University.
Jesslyn graduated from Oolitic High School in 1940, and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She belonged to the Monday Bridge Club.
Surviving are one son, James C. Pickens, and wife, Kathy (McCracken) Pickens, Bedford; grandson, Brendan Pickens and wife, Melissa, Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Margie Pickens, Orleans; nephew, Warren Pickens, Orleans; niece, Judy Kern, Ormond Beach, Fla.; and several grand nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Her parents; husband; brother, James Leslie Owens; sister-in-law, Doris Lamlein; brother-in-law, Coleman Pickens; uncles, Otto Carmichael and A. J. Carmichael; and nephew, Eric Lamlein, preceded her in death.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

William Paskle Johnson, 82, Mount Vernon, formerly of Bedford, went to be with the Lord on Monday.
He was born April 11, 1927, in London, Ky., the son of William Eli and Mary Jane (Lewis) Johnson. He married Ruth Marie Collier on May 7, 1952, and she survives.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a cook with the U.S. Army.
Surviving with his wife Ruth; are three sons, Robert Johnson and wife Nancy of Exeter, Calif., William R. Johnson and wife City of Southport, N.C., and Kenneth A. Johnson and wife Diane of New Harmony; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Patrick, Judy Scott and Marie Teague; four brothers, H.L., Wayne, Jimmy and Gene Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, Kensley Johnson; one great-grandchild, Kade Johnson; and three sisters, Dorothy Baugh, Irene Sosa and Betty Johnson.
Graveside services will be on 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Saltillo Cemetery in Washington County.

Madonna (Bex) Meadows, 62, Bedford, died at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday at Bloomington Hospital.
She was born April 23, 1947, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Archie and Ida Annice (Dumond) Bex. She married Harold Eugene Meadows on Nov. 11, 1988, in Lawrence County, and he survives.
She was a homemaker.
She attended school in Huron and Mitchell, graduating from Mitchell High School with the class of 1965.
She was of the Christian faith.
Surviving with her husband, Harold Eugene Meadows of Bedford; are two brothers, Dale Bex and wife Brenda and Bob Bex and wife Pam, all of Mitchell; two sisters, Susie Meek and husband Bobby, and Linda Kasey and husband Ben, all of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Archie and Annice Bex; one brother, James Daniel Bex; and one sister, Eva May Bex.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cresthaven Memory Gardens in Bedford, where burial will follow.

Marilyn A. (East) Munden, 71, Carmel, died Wednesday, March 11, in Florida.
She was born Dec. 3, 1937, in Bedford.
She was a registered medical technologist, a member of the Christian Church, and a member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Don Munden; one daughter, Dianne Parrish; a sister, Carol Bauer; and four grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers. An Eastern Star memorial service will be at 7 p.m.

She was born July 4, 1928, in Bedford, the daughter of Willis and Mary (Murphy) Coulter. She married James Eugene Duvall on Oct. 1, 1949, and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1999.
She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford.
Survivors include one son, James Vincent “Vince” Duvall and wife Debbie of Noblesville; one daughter, Jamie Maria Banks of Bedford; four grandchildren, Stephanie Gawlik and husband Carl of Indianapolis, David Dell and John Dell of Noblesville, and James Banks of Bedford; one sister, Mildred East and husband Frank of Bedford; and one brother, Dean Coulter of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Don Coulter; and one sister, Bernice “Bee” Coulter.

Plass Johnson, 85, Jeffersonville, died at 10:45 a.m. at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
He was born July 15, 1923, in Lawrence County, the son of James and Ida Mae (Crider) Johnson. He married Emma Lee Smale on July 27, 1944, in Bedford, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2004.
He was employed as an oiler at General Motors, retiring after 31 years of service.
He was a member of Fairview Community Church, UAW Local No. 440, and Masonic Lodge No. 14 F&AM. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacque Stogdill of Bedford, and Jamie Sullivan and husband Terry of Jeffersonville; five grandchildren, Blair Johnson and wife Sue of Richmond, Va., Leah Schnatmeier and husband Greg of St. Louis, Mo., Deana Allen and husband Jesse of Clarksville, Tenn., Brady Stogdill and wife Jamie of Heltonville, and Jenna Leigh Sullivan of Jeffersonville; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Morvilius of Birmingham, Ala,, and Lucille Johnson of Drexel, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son Gary on Nov. 19, 1989; six brothers; and five sisters.

Jerry L. Todd, 67, of 702 Glendale Way, Bedford, passed away at 12:01 p.m. on Friday at home with his loving wife of 20 years at his side.
Born May 26, 1942, in Bedford, he was the son of Charles and Doris (Taylor) Todd. He married Florence B. “Flo” Hancock on May 15, 1990, and she survives.
He retired as a heavy equipment operator for Rogers Group and Crider & Crider.
Surviving with his wife; are five children, Mike Todd, Deann Todd, Betty Wagner and Ed Wagner and wife Amanda, all of Bedford, and Greg Todd of Bloomington; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Charlie Paul Todd and wife Sue of Martinsville.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Donna.
As per Jerry’s wishes, no services are scheduled. Cremation was chosen.

Gerald Dean New, 74, of 1094 Erie Church Road, Bedford, passed away at his residence at 5 p.m. on Sunday, surrounded by his family.
Born Sept. 7, 1934, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Escar and Pearl (Godsey) New. He married Sue Ann Staley on June 24, 1955, and she survives.
He was a retired tool & die maker for Chrysler Corporation in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Oolitic United Methodist Church and the American Patriot Lodge No. 750 F&AM of Oolitic. He was a former member of the Stone City Squares.
Surviving with his wife, Sue Ann of Bedford; are their children Mark Alan New of Franklin, Va., Cheryl Ann Williams of Indianapolis, Gary Scott New and wife Jennifer of Bradenton, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Craig New, Lauren New, Andrew New, Bradley New, Brooke Williams, Ashley Stewart, Haley New, Kelsey New and Alex New; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Whitney Stewart; and three brothers, David New of Colorado, Larry New of Bedford and Jerry New of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ray O’Dell New and Mike New.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery.

Cecil A. Swayze

Cecil A. Swayze, 85, died peacefully Sunday morning in Mitchell.
Born April 16, 1924, in Lawrencevlle, Ill., he was the son of Isreal and Icie (Lukens) Swayze. He married Kathryn Richardson in 1941.
Mr. Swayze moved to Mitchell in 1960 to work for Mitchell Transport as a mechanic. He retired in 1988 from General Motors in Bedford as a welder.
He joined the U.S. Army in May of 1944 and earned a Silver Star medal during service with the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatre. He was honorably discharged as a technical sergeant in November 1945. He joined the Indiana National Guard in 1948, and retired as a captain in 1962.
He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion of Mitchell, and attended the Mitchell Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn of Mitchell; three sons, Don Swayze of Mitchell, Richard Swayze of Texas, and Steve Swayze of Arizona; one daughter, Cecilia Kay Swayze-Wright of Michigan; eight grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Wagonseller of Lawrenceville, Ill.
His parents preceded him in death, along with two sisters; one brother; and one granddaughter, Joni.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cresthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memorial Gardens with military services.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
