The Mr. Gatti Story

Mr. Gatti's was founded in 1964 by retired Air Force Col. James Eure.   Having accumulated ideas and collected recipes throughout his service time, he opened his first restaurant in Austin, Texas, using only the highest quality ingredients.   His store was called simply "The Pizza Place".  Its huge success resulted in expansion and a name change.  His wife's maiden name was Gatti, so he decided to become Mr. Gatti, and "Mr. Gatti's" was on its way to becoming not only The Best Pizza In Town...Honest! -- but the best pizza in the U.S.A.!

Today there are over two hundred Mr. Gatti's locations in the country.  Approximately thirty of these are company stores, and the remaining ones are franchises.  The corporate office is still based in Austin, Texas.

Mr. Gatti's arrived in Bedford, IN, in November, 1995, when a former grocery in a small strip mall was transformed into a spacious Mr. Gatti's with three dining rooms, seven party rooms, and the ever popular GattiLand.  At that time Jim Barclay was the franchise representative and helped open the Bedford store.  Two years later, in November 1997, Jim and Brenda Barclay moved their family to Bedford as they became the new owners of the now locally-owned store.  The Barclays have developed their restaurant, its menu, and the GattiLand arcade (now with its over 90 games, rides, and indoor playground) into one of Bedford's most popular family fun places!
