German American Bank, SOAR and Forever Gold have teamed up to create both a fund raiser for SOAR and good entertainment for the community. On Saturday, November 3, at 7 p.m., Forever Gold will perform their “Remember Then” concert at Schafer Auditorium inside the Bedford Middle School. The popular group will be singing top hits from the 50′s, 60′s and 70′s with their signature costumes and “shtick”.
“At German American we feel the opportunity to Host the Forever Gold Concert to benefit SOAR is a special “God WinK”. Lawrence County and Bedford is such a caring community and we know how important it is to do everything we can to ”Unmask Illiteracy”. Wonderful things happen when intentions are genuine, ” says Kenny Frye – Executive Officer of German American Bank. “As far as “Forever Gold” – I’m a Fan – HUGE FAN!! And won’t it be great to see them back home again!”
Gene McCracken states, “As a Board Member of SOAR it gives me great pride to see this type of fundraiser featuring “Forever Gold.” Their reputation and varied selections of music will offer great entertainment to the crowd; and the ticket sales will help to fund our current literacy operations, as well as open up new opportunities for our organization and the many areas of adult literacy that it touches.” “My sincere thanks go to German American Banking|Insurance|investments, North Lawrence Community Schools, and the City of Bedford, for their sponsorships and to Forever Gold for entertaining us with their wonderful music.”
“I’m amazed and delighted at the response we still get to our shows,” reflects band leader Jim Stevens. “I believe the continued popularity of Forever Gold can be attributed to the selection of songs we perform. The group as a whole picks the songs, and each one has been selected because it evokes memories of what we were doing when we heard them on the radio, whether it was hanging out on the square on a Saturday night, quilling the Hub or kicking back at home listening to the transistor. This music is more that just a bunch of songs… they’re a part of our lives and we sure enjoy doing them.”
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at Copy Trolley, German American Bank, the Bedford Chamber, Lawrence County Tourism office in Mitchell and at the 12 Days of Christmas. Tickets will also be available at the door.
