Godsey - Edith Godsey of Springville, IN, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at the Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born March 10, 1920 in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Rev. Earl and Mellie (Henderson) Anderson. She married Hobert T. Godsey on November 21, 1936, and he died June 27, 2003.

Surviving are one daughter, Joyce Phillips and her husband, Rev. Wendell Phillips, of Springville, IN; three sons: Earl Leroy Godsey and his wife, Mary, James H. Godsey and his wife, Roseanna, Paul W. Godsey and his wife, LuAnn, all of Springville, IN; thirteen grandchildren: Ken Phillips and his wife, Gayla, Rev. Alan Phillips and his wife, Marilyn, Kathy Wheeler, Kay Cooper and her husband, Gary, Rev. Doug Phillips and his wife, Lori, Randy Godsey, Mark Godsey and his wife, Janet, Scott Godsey and his wife, Cheryl, Kristi Rayhill and her husband, Chad, Diana Bex and her husband Aaron, Barbara Godsey and Craig Godsey and his wife, Autumn, and Susan Abel and her husband, Mike; twenty-seven great grandchildren; six great-great -randchildren; one brother, Chester Anderson of Springville, IN; and one sister, Wanda Reuter of Springville, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Donald E. Godsey; one grandson, Donald W. Godsey; one brother, Bill Anderson; four sisters: Wilma Baker, Georgia Phillips, Betty Rollins and Helen Blake.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Springville Trinity Pentecostal Mission Church.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 3rd, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Alan Phillips and Pastor Doug Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Young - Ralph K. Young of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at his residence.  Born January 16, 1913, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Elizabeth McKinney. He married Helen Blackwell on December 29, 1945, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Randy Young and wife, Avril, of Bedford, IN; grandsons, Randy Young and wife, Robin, and Brandon Senger; and great-grandchildren, Clayton and Chloe Young.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Monta Sue Senger.

He retired from Lehigh Portland Cement Company with 38 years of service, was a graduate of Tunnelton High School, and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force.  He was a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church and Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3rd, at Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis D. Williams officiating. Garland - Wilford W. Garland of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at his residence.  Born October 1, 1922, in Parkers Lake, KY, he was the son of Cornelius and Ethel (Roberts) Garland. He married Margaretta Inman on August 24, 1952 and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, David Garland and his wife, Amy, of Bedford, IN; five sisters: Opal Stephens of Whitley City, KY, Lena Duncan, Augusta Day and Lucille Rigby, all of Bedford, IN, Phyllis West of Pleasant Grove, UT; three brothers: Clifford Garland, Earl Garland and Paul Garland all of Utah; three grandchildren: Landon Garland, Lindsay Staggs and Elizabeth Garland, all of Bedford, IN; two great-grandsons, Christian Garland and Madison Staggs. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Pearl Ash and Flora Brandon; and one brother, Estel Garland.

He was a pipefitter with the Steamers and Pipefitters Union Local #136 of Bloomington, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WW II.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, July 1st at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bros. Hollis Johnson and Leon Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Haley - Francis Haley of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born March 7, 1925, in Fairfield, IL, he was the son of Isom and Dorothy (McClines) Haley, Sr.  He married Barbara Jean Bledsoe in March of 1952, and she preceded died in 1979. He married Takako (Kihara) Little on July 1, 1980, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters:  Mary Hembree and husband, Larry, of Orleans, IN, Janet Carlisle and husband, David, of Columbus, IN, and Susan Barlow and husband, Allen, of Mitchell, IN;
and three sisters: Martha Chisham of Orleans, IN, Virginia Mahan of Orleans, IN, and Annabelle McAddee of Mitchell, IN.  He was preceded in death by his first wife; two brothers, Isom Haley, Jr. and Phillip Haley; and one sister, Ruth McCoy.

He was a mechanic and had been employed 15 years at International Harvester, 20 years at Pal Deckard Ford, and retired from McArdle International.  He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30th, at Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis D. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.  Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Prosser - Marie Prosser of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born December 5, 1915, in Orange County, IN, she was the daughter of Archie and Cynthia (Moffitt) Williams. She married Leland V. Prosser July 4, 1935, and he died December 3, 1989.

Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Passmore and husband, Roy, of Orleans, IN; two grandchildren, Lydia Marie Passmore of Orleans, IN, and Charles Ray Passmore and wife, Dana, of Huron, IN; and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Ray, Fay, Roy, and Clay Williams; and one great-grandson.

She was a homemaker and a 1934 graduate of Mitchell High School. In May, she observed 76 years as a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, July 2nd, at Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis D. Williams officiating. Salvaty - Fred Salvaty Sr. of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at his residence.  Born October 28, 1953, in Union City, NJ, he was the son of Charles and Dorothy (White) Salvaty.

Surviving are five sons: Charles Salvaty Jr. of Montgomery, NY, Dustin Salvaty of Marion, IN, Vito Salvaty and Armando Salvaty, both of Bedford, IN, and Anthony Salvaty of Griffith, IN; three daughters: Tammy Smith and Renée Craig, both of Bedford, IN, and Sonda Salvaty of Tunnelton, IN; one stepson, Tony Benton of Bedford, IN; his long-time partner, Frances Benton of Bedford, IN; 11 grandchildren; three brothers: Wayne Salvaty, Danny Bartone and Charles Smith, all of New York; and three sisters, Carol Forstner of New York, Dorothy Furnish of Dupont, IN and Judy Mullen of Myrtle Beach, SC.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Collins - Ethan Tell Collins, infant, died Monday, June 27, 2005, at Bloomington Hospital.  Born on June 27, 2005, in Bloomington, IN, he was the son of Jon and Kim (Cassida) Collins.

Surviving are his parents, Jon and Kim (Cassida) Collins of Bedford, IN; one brother, Isaac Alexander Collins, at home; maternal grandfather, Ernest Cassida of Bedford, IN; paternal grandparents, Charles Collins and his wife, Judith, of Bedford, IN, and Jean Collins of Bristol, VA; several aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Hope Brooke Collins; his maternal grandmother, Wilma Cassida; maternal great-grandmother, Louise Cassida; and paternal great-grandmother, Dorotha Collins.

Private family services are planned. Burial will be in Mundell Cemetery in Lawrence County. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home of Bedford.

Maine - Aloisia Mira Maine of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born October 25, 1931, in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, she was the daughter of Otto and Josephine (Vrdoljak) Budzinski. She married Wendell Maine August 13, 1952, and he died August 29, 2001.

Surviving are one brother, Adolf and wife, Elisabeth, of Vienna, Austria; one sister, Anna Rotter, of Vienna, Austria; and caregivers, Arthur and Linda Charles, of Sellersburg, IN.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28th, at Mitchell Cemetery with Sister Joan Luerman officiating. A prayer service will be at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Friends may call from 9:00-10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Chastain Funeral Home.

Baldwin - Kenneth E. Baldwin of Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at the Westview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born on April 27, 1920, in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of James E. and Bertha M. (Murphy) Baldwin. He married Lovetta M. Mikels June 28, 1947, at the Bedford Free Methodist Church, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Linda Brooking and her husband, Eddie, of Oolitic, IN; three sons and their wives: Gary and Karen Baldwin of Bedford, IN, Dale and Sharon Baldwin and Dennis and Tina (Holley) Baldwin all of Norman, IN; one son-in-law, Alton Qualkenbush of Bedford, IN; nine grandchildren: Mike Brooking and his wife, Christie of Martinsville, Lisa Parsley and her husband, Jason, Michelle Hicks and her husband, Brian, Michael Baldwin and his wife, Megan all of Bedford, Mendy, Whitney, Elizabeth, and Tiger Baldwin, and Nathalie Holley all of Norman; four great-grandchildren: Cole and Victoria Brooking of Martinsville, Megan and Mariah Hicks of Bedford; one sister, Mildred Bailey of Heltonville, IN; a niece, Donna Carner of Oolitic, IN, and several other nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one son, Danny J. Baldwin; one daughter Trena M. Qualkenbush; one brother, Berlin Murphy; and a sister, Delphia Clements.

He retired from the Bedford Foundry and Machine Shop and then from his own trucking business. He served in the Army during WW 2 as a medical technician grade 4 in the Phillipines and Japan, Manilla and Luzon. After returning from the war he was employed by General Motors Plant in Dayton, Ohio. As a boy, he attended the Hickory Grove Church. In youth, he was with CCC Organization helping build dams at Spring Mill Park in the 30’s and shelter houses in various locations. He had been a member of the Lawrence County Rock Club.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 28th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Ronnie McClain officiating. Burial will follow in the Mundell Christian Church Cemetery with graveside military rites according by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Roberts - Louis N. "Jack" Roberts of Mitchell, IN, and a former resident of Bono, IN, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at StoneBridge Health Campus, Bedford.  Born August 29, 1911, in Bono, IN, he was the son of Walter S. and Zella (Schroyer) Roberts. He married Helen Starr April 20, 1934, and she died October 6, 1995.

Survivng are one son, Jerry D. Roberts and wife, Rosalie, of Campbellsburg, IN; two daughters, Sue Ann Boller and husband, Keith, of Logansport, IN, and Judith Miracle and husband, Robert, of Mitchell, IN; two sisters, Ruth Chastain, of Salem, IN, and Marjorie Sallee of Bedford, IN; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Kenneth Nelson Roberts; brother, John Roberts; and sister, Bessie Stewart.

He was a farmer and a graduate of Tunnelton High School. He was elected secretary-treasurer of the Lawrence County Farm Bureau at 18 years of age and was elected president two years later and served two terms. He was elected to the agriculture committee many times and in 1955 was selected chairman of the State Agriculture Committee of Indiana. Three years later he was called to Washington, D. C. to be director of the United States Department of Agriculture grain division. He came back to the farm in 1960 after an extended visit in Los Angeles, California, and served as president of W. S. Roberts and Sons for many years. He then retired and moved to be near his youngest daughter, Judith (Roberts) Miracle. He was always a farmer at heart.  He was a member of the Bono United Methodist Church and Leesville Masonic Lodge.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 27th, at Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Bell and Rev. Robert Kirkman officiating. Burial will be in Cavetown Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Monday at the funeral home.

Sego - Dorothy Sego of Bedford, IN, died  Friday, June 24, 2005, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born October 11, 1931, in Romona, IN, she was the daughter of Alex and Maggie (Morrow) Wilson. She married Floyd Sego, and he died on August 15, 2004.

Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Corey of Bedford, Theresa Bridges of Ohio, Sheila Storie of Oklahoma, Becky True of Indianapolis, one son, Danny Bridges of Bedford, two step-sons, Ernie Sego of Oklahoma, Ed Sego of Delaware, one step-daughter, Donetta Eads of Bedford, four sisters, Rosalee Crane, Zelma Crane, Emma Lou Poole, Kathy New, two brothers, Earl Dean Wilson and Floyd Wilson. Fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: parents, husband, Floyd, one son, David Bridges, one great grandson, Lincoln Allen Corey; two sisters, Doris and Thelma Wilson, four brothers, Carl, Cecil, Chester, Windle Wayne Wilson.

She was a homemaker.

Hert - Erroll Wayne Hert of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, June 23, 2005, at the Veterans Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He is survived by one brother, Phillip Hert of Bedford, IN.

Morris - Leroy M. Morris of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at his residence.  Born July 24, 1921, in Paoli, IN, he was the son of Roy Morris and Marguerite Hickman. He married Christina M. Prewitt on July 12, 1941, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters: Judy Cunnington and Linda White and her husband, Jerry, all of Bedford, IN, and Donna Dodds and her husband, Randy, of Heltonville, IN; two sons, David Morris and Allen Morris and his wife, Linda, all of Bedford, IN; fifteen grandchildren: Dean Borden of Bedford, Bill Borden and his wife, Kim of Bedford, Larry Borden and his wife, Pat of Bedford, Melinda Lewis and her husband, Jason of Oolitic, Brad Armstrong and his wife, Stephanie of Bedford, Jeremiah Anderson and his wife, Misti of Spencer, Stacey Moore and her husband, Brian of Bedford, Jerry White and his wife, Angie of Elgin, IL, Brant Morris and his wife, Stacy of Cape Coral, FL, Jonathon Morris of Bedford, Candy Schofield of Bedford, Missy Collingsworth and her husband, Shawn of Bedford, Amy Vorndran of Heltonville, Bill Morris of Bedford and Christina Hatfield of Norman; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathrine O’Brien of Bedford, IN, and Betty Parkhurst of Brownsburg, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack Taylor and Carl Morris; and three great grandchildren.

He was a life-long resident of Bedford and the owner of E & M Machine & Tool Co., Inc. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II, a member of the Free Methodist Church in Bedford and Gillen Post #33 American Legion.

Wagoner - Doris M. Wagoner of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at her residence.  Born January 5, 1913, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Fred Levi Fultz and Cona (Craig) Fultz. She married Lyman F. “Jack” Wagoner on January 30, 1932, and he died December 17, 1983.

Surviving is one daughter, Patty Stultz of Bedford, IN; one brother, Orin “Bud” Fultz of Bedford, IN; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Thomas and Ermal Fultz; and one sister, Louella Kelso.

She was a member of Delegentia Social Club and Women's Department Club since 1952. After serving many years at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church near Silverville, she became affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Bedford.  During World War II, she sewed parachutes at Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane, and later, she was an aide at Bedford Junior High School.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 24th, at the Silverville Mt. Pleasant Regular Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Merla Craig officiating. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Callahan - Gladys E. Callahan of Bedford, IN, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at Hospitality House in Bedford.  Born November 24, 1913, in Jackson County, IN, she was the daughter of Robert and Nettie (Winegar) Callahan.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Linnie Kern and Esther Jenkins; and six brothers: Clarence, Neal, Walter, Mose Lee, Orbin and Howard Callahan.

She had worked as a cook at Three Pigs Restaurant in Bedford, and Dunn Memorial Hospital, from which she retired.  She was a member of Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene in Bedford.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Beech Grove Cemetery in Bedford, with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating.  Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home of Bedford.

Watson - Roger Del Watson of Bedford, IN, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at his daughter's residence in Stinesville, IN.  Born December 1, 1938, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Robert and Marie (Lemen) Watson.

Surviving are one daughter, Melissa Barbarick and her husband, Edward, of Stinesville, IN; one son, Jeff Watson and his wife,Leanne, of Spencer, IN; three grandchildren: Jessica Watson of Spencer, IN, and Jeremy Barbarick and Casey Barbarick, both of Stinesville, IN; one brother, Robert Watson of Bloomington, IN; and one sister, Pam Evans of Bloomington, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Susan Bailey, who died in 1987.

He was an assembly worker at General Electric in Bloomington, retiring after 25 years of employment.  He graduated from Bedford High School with the class of 1957.

Smith - Herman Smith of Bedford, IN, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born March 12, 1920, in Monroe County, IN, he was the son of Perry and Etta (Glasgow) Smith. He married D. Maxine Smith on December 3, 1939, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Brenda Hillenburg and her husband, Bob, of Heltonville, IN; two sons, Bernard "Bud" Smith and his wife, Shirley, and Barry Don "Buck" Smith and his wife, Sharon, all of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren: Dedra Hawkins, Michelle Cornett and her husband Dennis, Leann Miracle and her husband Al, Lisa Daab and her husband Tim, Robin Hillenburg and his wife Lisa, Wendy Raines and her husband Dan, and Tina Brooking and her husband Jerry; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Morran and Floene Sowders, both of Bedford, IN; and one brother, Eithel Smith of Bloomington.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine; his parents; three brothers, Elbert, Delbert and Lloyd Smith; and three sisters, Velma Kinser, Elsie Deckard and Leoni Martin.

He and his wife owned Maxine's Restaurant in Bartlettsville for around 50 years. He worked in stone quarries, Heltonville Mill, and retired from Lawrence County Highway Department as the assistant superintendent, after 20 years of service. He was a charter member of the County Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22nd, at the Day & Carter Mortuary of Bedford with Pastor Barry Don "Buck" Smith and Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Bartlettsville Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the mortuary.  The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Bartlettsville Cemetery fund.

Hall - Stella E. Hall of Bedford, IN, died  Saturday, June 18, 2005 at the Hospitality House in Bedford.  Born February 8, 1913, in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of Raymond and Stella (Graff) Mills. She married Albert A. Phillips, and he preceded her in death. She later married Richard G. Hall, and he also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Donald A. Phillips of Bedford, IN, and Sherrill W. Hall of Springville, IN; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and five nieces. She was preceded in death by both husbands; one sister, Grace Zike; and one brother, Raymond Mills.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Gulletts Creek Baptist Church.

Kern - Geneva I. Pruett-Kern of Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 17, 2005, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.  She was born January 12, 1917, in Lawrence County, IN.  She married Hubert L. Pruett in June, 1935, and he died in April, 1984. She later married John D. Kern on January 12, 1990, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Joyce Pemberton of Bedford, IN; four sons: Roy Pruett and his wife, Evelyn, of Bedford, IN, James Pruett and his wife, Donna, of Terre Haute, IN, Harley Pruett and his wife, Marie, of Williams, IN, and Edward Pruett and his wife, Rose, of Bedford, IN; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kenneth Larry Pruett; and one great-grandchild, Sarah Pruett.

She worked at Kern's Restaurant and later at M. Fine & Sons Mfg. Co. in Bedford for many years. She was of the Pentecostal Faith.

Daugherty - James Michael Daugherty of Springville, IN, died Thursday, June 16, 2005, at the home of his parents.  Born February 17, 1978, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Michael and Geri (Zumhingst) Daugherty.

Surviving are his parents of Springville; two sisters, Melissa and Danielle Daugherty, both of Bedford, IN; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Daugherty of Bloomington, IN; and several aunts and uncles.

He had worked for Wal-Mart and Hoosier Hills Credit Union in Bedford and was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 18th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Kyle Witmer officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Williams. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 pm on Friday and from 9:30 am until the service time on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.  The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children, ABC Youth or the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Hunter - Pearl Ann (Wade) Hunter of Bedford, IN, died June 12, 2005.  Born July 4, 1921, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Sophia and Everett Wade. She married Hubert Hunter on July 9, 1939. at Mundell Christian Church by Rev. Claude Reuter.

Surviving are children: Patricia Atchison and her husband, Marvin, and Danny Hunter and his wife, Leah Jane, all of Bedford, IN; grandchildren: Shonja and David Miracle of Bedford, IN, Beth and David Kern of Edwardsville, IL, Becky and Troy Lutgens of Ellettsville, IN,  and Brad and Jami Hunter of Bedford, IN; great-grandchildren: Kayla and Kristen Miracle, Allison and Brandon Kern, Matthew, Jackson and Levi Hunter, and Isabella Lutgens; six step-grandchildren and seventeen step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers: Charles, Robert, Edgar Wayne and Donald Wade; two grandsons, Greg Hunter and Jamie Murphy; one daughter-in-law, Toni Rae Hunter; and two sisters, Olive Whitted and Mary Clouse.

She worked at Kresge’s for five years, was library aide at Shawswick School for five years, then ten years at the Bedford Public Library, retiring in January 1982. She then started a library at the Mundell Church, built it up for eighteen years and retired from that in 2000 for health reasons.  She was a member of the Mundell Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School classes for many years and was later the church librarian.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 16th, at the Mundell Christian Church with Bro. John Wisley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mundell Cemetery. Norman - Dwight Wayne Norman of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born on August 26, 1938, in Bartlettsville, IN, he was the son of John and Helen (Crouch) Norman.

Surviving are three brothers: Wesley Norman and his wife, Sharon, of Bedford, IN, Gerald Norman and his wife, Susan, of Heltonville, IN, and Clarence Norman and his wife, Naomi, of Greenwood, IN; and three sisters: Shirley Hearth and her husband, Lebert, and Judy Quebbeman and her husband, Ron, all of Bedford, IN, and Norma Dell Hillenburg and her husband, Lloyd, of Greenwood, IN; and two brothers-in-law, Lester Todd of Heltonville, IN, and Ed Sowders of Avoca, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Everet Norman; and two sisters, Marjorie Todd and Glenda Sowders.

He had worked in local sawmills, and he was of the Protestant Faith.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14th, at Jones Funeral Home in Heltonville with Brother Perry East officiating. Burial will follow in the Methodist Cemetery in Bartlettsville. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Robbins - Beulah Haverly Robbins of Bedford, INI, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Hospitality House in Bedford.  Born June 28, 1922, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Arch and Anna P. (Hahn) Haverly. She married Farrell Robbins on June 21, 1947, in Paoli, IN, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one son, Michael P. Robbins and his wife, Patty, of Bedford, IN; one grandson, Zachary "Zack" Robbins of Indianapolis; one granddaughter, Marcy Katherine Robbins of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Terri Lynn Robbins; one brother, Lewis Haverly; and three sisters: Isis Haverly Gilchrest, Mary Haverly Brooks and Dora Haverly Hamer.

A graduate of Mitchell High School with the class of 1940, she had worked at RCA in Bloomington for 10 years and as a proofreader at the Times-Mail of Bedford for 17 years, retiring in 1974. She was the matron of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department from 1975 to 1978.  She was a member of Crossroads Community Church of Bedford; the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 of Bedford; and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 129, where she had served as Worthy Matron in 1968.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home of Bedford with Pastor Ken Ransom officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Deckard - Harvey G. Deckard of Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 10, 2005, at his residence.  Born October 6, 1922, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Curtis and Goldie Pearl (Adams) Deckard. He married Dorothy Henderson and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are four children: Terry Deckard of Mitchell, IN, Kathy Woods and Melissa Deckard, both of Bedford, IN, and Margaret Deckard of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Herman Deckard of Heltonville, IN; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ansel and Howard "Tutor" Deckard.

He was a mechanic and had worked at Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane and Eastside Lincoln Mercury Dealership; and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.  He was a member of the Bedford Baptist Temple and American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 of Bedford.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14th, at Cresthaven Funeral Home of Bedford with the Rev. Steve Goens officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with graveside military rites accorded by members of American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 of Bedford. Flynn - Andr`ea Josette Flynn of Bloomington, IN, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at the Bloomington Hospital.  Born September 25, 1950, in Bloomington, IN, she was the daughter of Harold J. Kinser and Velma (Southern) Bagwell. She married Timothy Flynn on August 2, 1975 and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Eric Reid DeFord and his wife, Kathy, of Smithville, IN, and Ira Joseph DeFord of Miami Beach, FL; three grandchildren: Ross Alan DeFord, Dylan Reid DeFord and Jonathan Alec DeFord; and her mother, Velma Bagwell of Bloomington, IN. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Kinser; one brother, Randy Alan Kinser; and one sister, Fraun Renee` Kinser.

She was a licensed practical nurse in Bedford and Bloomington.

Wilson - John Joseph Wilson of  Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 10, 2005, at the Hospitality House in Bedford.  Born January 20, 1930, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Nannie Wilson.

Surviving are one half-sister, Marie Butterfield and her husband, Jack, of Bedford, IN; three half-brothers: Leonard Bridges and his wife, Carol, Lester "Bud" Bridges and his wife, Kay, and Dannie Bridges and his wife, JoAnn, all of the Huron, IN, area; three cousins: Ken Bell and his wife, Mary Helen, of Winter Springs, FL, Jim Bell and his wife, Sandy, of Williamsburg, VA, and Ed Bell and his wife, Karen, of Bedford, IN; and one aunt, Lucille Bell of Bedford, IN.  He was preceded in death by his mother.

He had worked at Naval Surface Warfare Systems-Crane and later as a self-employed handyman.  He was of the Protestant Faith.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14th, at Beech Grove Cemetery in Bedford. Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Bradford - Forrest E. Bradford of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the Hospitality House.  Born December 16, 1935, in Chrisman, IL, he was the son of Bruce E. and Lucille (Smith) Bradford. He married Mary Margery Sutton on May 9, 1955, and she survives.

Surviving with wife are his mother, Lucille Bradford of Hamilton, OH; three sons: Kenneth E. Bradford and his wife, Wauonna, and Robert E. Bradford, all of Bedford, IN, and George A. Bradford and his wife, Lupa, of Carlsbad, CA; one daughter, Cheryl Haueter and her husband, David, of Anderson, SC; nine grandchildren: Amber Bradford of Bedford, IN, Katrina Pate of Bloomington, IN, Lucas Bradford and William Bradford, both of Carlsbad, CA,  James Bradford, Jesse Bradford, Jon Bradford and Jay Bradford, all of Mitchell, IN,and Sara Haueter of Anderson, SC; one great-grandson, David Allen Pate of Bloomington, IN; two brothers, Orville Bradford of Ransom, IL, and Howard Bradford of Hamilton, OH; one sister, Lila Neibarger of Martinsville, IL; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter, Karen Sue Bradford.

He was a supervisor with GM Powertrain for 38 years, retiring on June 1, 1990.  He graduated from General Motors Institute in Flint, MI, with the class of 1957, receiving top honors and being among the top 10 in a class of 2,500. He was of the Protestant Faith.

Funeral and burial services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Snider - Thomas Ralph Snider of Madisonville, KY, died on June 7, 2005, at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.  Born August 4, 1978, in Mooresville, IN, he was the son of Steve Snider and Cinda (Mann) Rybak. He married Rhea Dawn Mullis on June 26, 2004, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife is his father Steve Snider and his wife, Karen, of Martinsville, IN; his mother, Cinda Rybak and her husband, Ron, of Kentucky; his father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Denise Mullis of Bedford, IN; one brother, Matt Snider of Indianapolis; his maternal grandmother; his step-mother, Terri Snider of Indianapolis; two sisters-in-law, Rachelle Mullis Brown of Brownstown, IN, and Shannon Mullis Liu of Indianapolis; and two nephews, Andrew and Caleb Brown. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

 He was a graduate of the I.U. School of Law and an attorney for the Department of Public Advocacy in Hopkinsville, KY.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 13th, at the Free Methodist Church in Bedford, IN, with the Revs. Dave Colgan and Jeff Calhoun officiating. A graveside committal service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 13th, at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville, IN. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 19th, at the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville, KY.

Winingham - Jewell Winingham of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.  Born May 26, 1918, in Butler County, MO, she was the daughter of Elza and Ruth (Cox) Deckard. She married Clyde Winingham on January 23, 1970, and he died on December 23, 1996.

Survivors include one sister, Marilyn Hirsch of Cheyenne, Wyo.; one stepdaughter, Gloria Giles and her husband Jack of Bedford; one granddaughter, Mary Dee Kern and her husband Dean of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Mary Esther Selby; and one brother, Lowell Deckard.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Avoca Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. Kyle Witmer officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Meadows - Mary B. (Easton) Meadows of Bedford, IN, died Monday, June 6, 2005,at the Capital Health Systems Fuld Campus in Trenton, N.J.  Born August 12, 1911, in Lochgelly, Scotland, she was the daughter of William and Alexandria (Buick) Easton. She married Randolph E. Meadows in 1945, and he died on August 6, 2002.

Surviving are one sister, Agnes "Nancy" Falconio and her husband, Anthony, of Hamilton, NJ; and five nieces, including Sharon Flinn of Bedford, IN.  She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Randolph G. Meadows; three brothers: James, William and Albert Easton; and two sisters, Williamine Forman and Joan Potts.

She was a graduate of St. Peter's Hospital of Nursing in New Brunswick, NJ.  She was a veteran of the U.S. Army Nurses Corps, having attained the rank of captain and serving during World War II.  She had been a registered nurse at Seymour Regional Hospital and also had worked as a nurse in New Jersey.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bedford, where she was a vocal soloist. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home of Bedford, with the Revs. Mark McDaniel and Carla Norton officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery of Bedford, with graveside military rites accorded by members of American Legion Post No. 33 of Bedford. Pruett - Mabel Pruett of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, June 5, 2005, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born on April 11, 1913, in Kankakee County, IL, she was the daughter of Charles and Ruby (Spears) Gray.  She married Lawson Pruett on December 27, 1946, at the First Christian Church in Bedford, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Eloise Trueblood of Indianapolis; and two sons; one grandson, David M. Trueblood; and two great-grandsons.  She was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; and one granddaughter, Karen Trueblood.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bedford since 1947.  She worked as a Pink Lady for many years and was a member of the Women's Department Club in Bedford.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Dailey officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Cresthaven Mausoleum.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Darlage - Lois I. Darlage of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Bedford, IN, died June 3, 2005 at her residence.  Born August 14, 1909, in Jackson County, IN, she was the daughter of Flay and Elizabeth (Tabor) Louden.  She married Virgil Darlage on November 13, 1948 and he died on November 22, 1985.

Surviving are one son, Jerry D. Wray of Port St. Lucie, FL; one brother, Doyle Louden of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren: Larry Wray, Jeff Wray, Mark Wray, Stormi Brake, Nancy S. Wray and Jerry P. Wray. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Paul Wray and Billy Wray; one grandson, Michael Wray; four brothers: Herman, Raymond, Roy and Pryce Louden; and two sisters, Edna Louden McGregor and Alma Louden.

She retired from General Motors in Bedford after twenty-two years and was a member of U.A.W. Local #440. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Bedford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 9th at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Bedford with Pastor Paul Neuman officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Mathews - Dorothy E. Mathews of Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 3, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born on June 8, 1920, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of William G. and Mabel (Hill) Embree. She married Ernest L. Mathews on November 8, 1941, and he died October 8, 1987.

Surviving are one son, William G. "Skip" Mathews and his wife, Brenda, of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Susanna Mathews of Bloomington; five grandchildren: Karen King of Greenwood, IN, Michael W. Mathews of Mitchell, IN, Joshua C. Mathews of Indianapolis, and Nicholas J. Fisher and Chanel Fisher, both of Bloomington, IN; four great-grandchildren: Nathan King, Alyssa King, Lillian Mathews and Maddox Mathews; two sisters, Frances Clark and Mary Jane Mathews, both of Bedford, IN; one brother, George Embree of Martinsville, IN; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband.

A 1938 graduate of Bedford High School, she had been a teacher's aide for the North Lawrence Head Start program, a kindergarten teacher at Parkview Primary School in Bedford, and  owner/operator of PAL Nursery School in Bedford, retiring in 1979.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bedford, where she taught Sunday Nursery School for more than 50 years. She was a charter member of Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Dunn Memorial Hospital of Bedford, had worked with Campfire Girls and Girls Scouts; and had been a Cub Scout den mother. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 6th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Pinhook Cemetery. Dorsett - Pauline V. Dorsett of Salem, IN, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Meadow View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.  Born November 2, 1916, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Fred and Nancy (Carter) Kinder. She married John Edward Dorsett October 26, 1935, and he died November 1, 1997.

Survivors include two daughters: Joyce A. Holsapple and her husband Robert and Jan Cooper and her husband Larry, all of Salem; four grandchildren: Sherri Craig and her husband Rodney, Mike Holsapple and his wife Julie, Tim Cooper and his wife Jeannean and Troy Cooper and his wife Robin; and nine great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Gloria Jean Dorsett; three sisters: Katie Walton, Lelah Moore and Eileen Spurgeon; and four brothers: Roy Kinder, Emil Kinder, Lawrence Kinder and George Kinder.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of God in Mitchell.
