Payton - Mary Jane Payton of Orleans, IN, died Monday, February 28, 2005, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.  Born November 24, 1925, in Crestwood, KY, she was the daughter of B. F. and Mary June (Gayle) Doty. She married George L. Payton on January 2, 1947, and he died on May 7, 1976.

Surviving are one daughter, Peggy L. Peter and husband, Merrill, of New Albany, IN; and one granddaughter, Katherine (Peter) Mitchell and husband, Aaron, of Indianapolis.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Margaret Byrns (Doty) Davis; and one son, James Paul Payton, on May 25, 1973.

She served as secretary for her husband's insurance business and clerked for Bob Allen Auction Service for 26 years.  She attended Kentucky Wesleyan College and was a graduate of Bryant and Stratton Business College. She was a member of Mitchell First Christian Church, Phi Beta Psi Sorority (47 years), Alpha Beta Chi Sorority, Order of Eastern Star No. 503, and Order of Eastern Star No. 352, Past Guardian of Bethel No. 113 International Order of Job's Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Rebekah Lodge.  She served on the Lawrence County Extension Board and as a Pink Lady at Dunn Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5th, at the Mitchell First Christian Church with Brother Josh Brumfield and Reverend Richard Welker officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2:00- 8:00 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home, Mitchell, and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time Saturday at the church.  Memorial Gifts:

Hammersley - Stella Rosella (Beasley) Hammersley of Williams, IN, died February 27, 2005.  Born February 3, 1913, in Williams, IN, she was the daughter of George and Elizabeth Ann (Yaney) Beasley.  She married Vernon Hammersley on November 11, 1933, and he died June 8, 1976. She later married Elmer Brock, and he died October 24, 1990.

Surviving are one son, Vernon "Larry" Hammersley and his wife, Sue, of Springville, IN; two grandchildren: Eric Hammersley and his wife, Sandy, of Bedford, IN, and Lisa Hammersley of Springville, IN; two great-grandchildren: Chandler and Renae Hammersley, both of Bedford, IN; and one stepson, John Hammersley of Ocala, Fla.  She was preceded in death by both her husbands; one granddaughter, Tisha Hammersley; six brothers: Noah, Richard, Edgar, Byford, Noble, and Charlie Beasley; six sisters: Liza Hopper, Cora Cobb, Dovie Winter, Mary Williams, Katie Woempner and Cordia Beasley; one stepdaughter, Mary Alice Shoemaker; and one stepson, Robert Hammersley.  She was the last of her family of 13.

Her various 55 years of employment consisted of 26 years at Naval Surface Warfare Systems-Crane, where she was the paperwork manager. She also had been employed at Fabricast, Aladdin Mantle Lamp Co. and M. Fine and Sons. She managed the Williams High School cafeteria and also operated her own lunch room. She was a travel coordinator, lecturer and escort and gave presentations of the 74 foreign countries she had traveled.  She was secretary and treasurer of the Williams Alumni Association, treasurer of the Lawrence County Extension Homemakers Building Fund, past president and treasurer of the Williams Homemakers Club, and secretary of the Lawrence County Historical Society. She was past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Bedford, had served two terms as president of the Lawrence County Extension Homemakers Club, and was the international chairman of the State Committed for the Homemakers Club.  She was a member, vice president and program chairman of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, past Secretary of the Lawrence County Historical Genealogical Society, member of the International Rose O'Neill Club, Bonniebrook Historical Society, Kewpiana Hoosiers, Williams Community Improvement Association, Inc., Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose, National Travel Club, American Automobile Association of Indiana and the Indiana Historical Society.  She published a book, "White River Memories," coordinated and published a cook book for the Williams Homemakers Club, and also volunteered for the Red Cross Bloodmobile.  She was a life-long member of the Williams Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Williams High School with the class of 1932, and she attended Bloomington Business College. She also took a nutrition course at Purdue University and a tax training course to volunteer in helping low income tax filers.

Services for Stella Hammersley will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2nd, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow in the Williams Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mason - Glenda Lou (Watson) Mason of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, February 27, 2005,at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born on February 18, 1940, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Mable C. (Gassaway) Watson and Lewis "Sam" Watson Sr. She married Leroy Mason on August 11, 1961, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are and four brothers: John W. Watson, Robert Lee Watson and Russell D. Watson, all of Bedford, IN, and Charles Eugene Watson of Oolitic, IN; and several nieces ad nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Lewis "Horseshoe" Watson Jr. and Daniel Wayne Watson.

She was a homemaker.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home of Bedford, with the Rev. Chris Perry officiating. Burial will be in Dive Cemetery. Friends my call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Vicars - Lillian “Tudie” Vicars of Bedford, IN, formerly of Indianapolis, died on Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Westview Manor Health Care Center.  Born December 31, 1912, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Robert and Agnes (Tremp) Peterman. She married Frank North, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Anne Hunter of Worthington, OH; one step-son, Robert Vicars of Indianapolis; one sister, Idah Short of Bloomington, IN; two nephews, William Short and Michael Short, both of Bedford, IN; one niece, Marjory Starnes of Bedford, IN; several great-nieces and nephews; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.

She retired as a medical secretary and was a American Red Cross Volunteer. She was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bedford.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 3rd at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis with Father Charlie Carpenter officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 2nd and from 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Thursday, March 3rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Pierce - Edith Rose Bird Pierce of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, February 26, 2005, at the Westview Manor Health Care Center.  Born May 31, 1925, in West Baden, IN, she was the daughter of Heber and Oma (Brown) Bird. She married Ralph Brosmer in 1945, and he was killed that same year in an accident at work. She married Paul Barnes, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are one brother, Donald Bird and his wife, Jean, of French Lick, IN; four children: Monta Brosmer of Mountain Home, ID, Paula Wigley of Bedford, IN, Mark Barnes of Dallas, TX, and Gregory Barnes of Garland, TX; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ralph Brosmer and Paul Barnes; one son, Kevin Pierce; and two brothers, William Bird and Heber Bird, Jr.

She was a member of the Eagles, Moose Lodge and Rebecca Lodge-Odd Fellows.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 4th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Reno Bates officiating.

Dixon - Robert M. Dixon of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 25, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born February 6, 1928, in West Baden, IN, he was the son of Marvin C. and Ruby (Leffler) Dixon. He married Joanna S. Cox on May 31, 1946, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, John Dixon and his wife, Darla, of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Susanne Denny and her husband, Mike, of Easley, SC, and Janie Boenig and her husband, Chuck, of Gulf Shores, AL; five grandchildren: Melissa Rodriguez, Michael Denny, Jackie Boenig, Shera and Ryan Dixon; two great-grandchildren, Alaina and Anthony Rodriguez; three sisters-in-law: Irene Wood of Cicero, IN, Ruth Alice Pogue of Florida and Mid Parkhurst of Carmel, IN; seven nieces and nephews: Marsha Fuson, Larry Cox, Bob Wood, Jan Wood, Joan Watson, Tom Dixon and Cindy McHale. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Joanna S. Dixon, and one brother, Jack L. Dixon.

He was the owner/operator of D & M Cleaners until he retired in 1987. He had attended Grace Methodist Church and was a member and past president of the Club 55 Bowling League. He was a past member of the Bedford Lions Club, Hoosier Hills Ham Club, Bedford Masonic Lodge, Hoosier Hills RC Flying Club and a computer enthusiast.

Harrison - Vivian V. Harrison of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 25, 2005, at her residence.  Born October 27, 1921, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Dee and Stella (Brown) Goen. She married William Harrison on May 26, 1938, and he died in 1978.

Surviving are three daughters: Marie Harrison and Carolyn Broughton and her husband, Frankie, all of Bedford, IN, and Patty Moore and her husband, Keith, of Martinsville, IN; two sons, William (Bill) and his wife, Diane, and Freddie Harrison and his wife, Carolena, all of Bedford, IN; one sister, Mildred Fry of Bedford, IN; twelve grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Betty White Wade; one son, Larry E. Harrison; and two sisters, Charlotte Lewis and Violet Sargent; one half-sister, Zora Kimbrel; and two brothers, Rusaw Goen and Pete Jones.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Englewood Baptist Church.

There will be graveside services at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 28th, at Beech Grove Cemetery with Pastor David Ferry officiating. No calling hours are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Wood - Ilene M. Wood of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 25, 2005, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born May 24, 1915, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Arthur and Pearl (Eagens) Quackenbush.  She married Howard T. Wood on December 23, 1934, and he died in May of 1975.

Surviving are one daughter, Carol Stultz and her husband, Steve, of Bedford, IN; three grandchildren: Michael Stultz, Courtney Sullivan and Patrick Stultz, all of Bedford, IN; one great-granddaughter, Emma Sullivan of Bedford, IN, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers: Orin, Ariel, Carl and Doyle Quackenbush; and two sisters, Cora Reuter and Beulah Walker.

She was an employee of M. Fine & Sons, K-Mart and S.S. Kresge’s Store in Bedford. She was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church in Bedford and the Order of the Eastern Star in Mitchell.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m.Tuesday, March 1st, at the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Gary Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Daniels - Emma Pauline Daniels of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, February 24, 2005, at her StoneBridge Health Campus.  Born June 6, 1914, in New York, she was the daughter of Edward E. and Lena Pauline (Jensen) Zipf. She married Clinton C. Daniels and he died in 1978.

Surviving are include one sister, Lillian Leahy and her husband, John, of Bedford, IN; one nephew, John E. Leahy and his wife, Phyllis. of Carmel, IN; one niece, Paula Ann Harris and her husband, William M., of Laguna Niguel, CA; two great nephews, Jake Reasoner of Carmel, IN, and Eric Pearson and his wife, Eryn of Seattle, WA; six great nieces, Jennifer Reasoner and her husband, Thomas, of Carmel, IN, Kristen Leahy of Venus, CA, Nicole Harris of Brighten, MA, Morgan M. Harris, Andraya Harris and Sawyer Harris all of Laguna Niguel, CA, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Richard Zipf.

She was a trust officer for a New York bank and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New York. She attended the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, February 28th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Father Dan Donohoo officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 am until the service time Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Glasgow - Joseph Lee "Bud" Glasgow of Bedford, IN, died February 24, 2005.  Born on October 9, 1930, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Joseph V. and Maude E. (Ooley) Glasgow.  He married Martha Mae Neely on December 20, 1948, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Rita Euhl and her husband, Bobby, and Sheila Luttrell and her husband, Terry, all of Bedford, IN; one son, Jeff Glasgow and his wife, Laura, of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren: Bryan Walls, Monica Walls, Aimee Flynn, Jamie Charles, Summer Corbin and Cinnamon Glasgow; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Walls and Victoria Charles; six sisters; and one brother.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Allen Glasgow; and one brother, Perry Glasgow.

He was a crafted metal spinner, owning Gold Star Metal Spinning in Bedford for several years.  He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Springville West Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home of Bedford, and there will be no visitation.

Hurst - Lena E. Hurst of Orleans, IN, died Thursday, February 24, 2005, at Paoli Health and Living Community.  One of triplet girls born on May 2, 1914, in Washington County, IN, she was the daughter of Willis C. and Rose (Wheeler) Lawyer. She married Clifford Eugene Hurst October 17, 1941, and he died February 11, 1975.

Surviving are the remaining two triplet sisters, Lela E. Brown and Leta A. Myers, both of Orleans, IN, and one other sister, Laura Keister of California.  She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Maude Boisen; and one brother, Lawrence Lawyer.

She was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26th, at Chastain Funeral Home with Brother Larry Alvey officiating. A private entombment will be Monday at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Woodard - Anna Pearl Woodard of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, February 24, 2005, at StoneBridge Health Campus, where she resided.  Born March 3, 1917, in Martin Co., IN, she was the daughter of William Thomas and Malinda Jane (Davis) Hardwick. She married Fred Woodard in 1969, and he died in 1999.

Surviving are three sons:  Jerry Hardwick of Bedford, IN, Robert Hardwick of Colorado, and Tom Hardwick of Florida; one daughter, Darcus Charles of Indianapolis; one step-son, Ted Woodard of Indianapolis; twelve grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Ginger Packwood; five brothers; five sisters; one grandson, Earl Wayne Charles; and one step-daughter, Reba Smith.

She was a homemaker.

There will be graveside services at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 26th, at Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca with the Rev. Rick Charles officiating. No public calling hours are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Greene - James Maurice Greene of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Louisville, KY.  Born on December 20, 1929, in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of Elmer M. and Cleo Greene.  He married Dorothy King on June 28, 1949, and she died on February 10, 2003.

Surviving are one daughter, Rita King Bundy of Mitchell, IN; one half-brother, Randall Greene of Indianapolis; three half-sisters:  Debbie and Susan Greene, both of Indianapolis, and Karen Logsdon of Pendleton, IN; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

He was a retired bricklayer, a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II and a member of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post 250 in Mitchell.

Services for James Greene will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 28th, at Haverly Mortuary with Bro. Jerry Allen officiating.  Burial will follow in Bryantsville Church of Christ Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post # 250.  Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the service time Monday at Haverly Mortuary.

Hawkins - Alyce LaVerne Hawkins of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at Hospitality House of Bedford.  Born January 28, 1918, in Lafayette, IN, she was the daughter of Mason H. and Mary (Campbell) Richardson. She married Clarence B. Hawkins on November 28, 1937, and he died in 1959.

Surviving are four daughters: Mary Ann Roach and Janie Smith, both of Bedford, IN, Karen Riggle of Indianapolis, and Sherri Lynn Emenhiser of Los Angeles, CA; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Howard Richardson of Eden, NC; one sister, Eve Selzer of Indianapolis; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Dale Richardson.

She was a registered nurse and retired from Central Foundry after 25 years of service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bedford.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26th, at Cresthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Alyce LaVerne Hawkins to the Hospitality House, 2111 Norton Lane, Bedford, IN 47421.

Gratzer - Mickey Isom Gratzer of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at StoneBridge Health Campus.  Born July 18, 1918, in French Lick, IN, she was the daughter of William and Goldie (Breedlove) Jenkins. She married Ralph H. Isom in 1936. She later married Robert J. Gratzer, and he died in December 2004.

Surviving are two sons, Tracy Isom and his wife, Bonnie, and Terry Isom and his wife, Vickie; a daughter-in-law, Jean Isom of Greenwood, IN; grandchildren, McKenzie Isom, Derek and Kirk Isom, Cody Isom, Chris Pfaff, Melissa (Pfaff) Murphy; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.  She was preceded in death by one son, Ralph E. Isom; five brothers: Lonnie Jenkins, Charlie Jenkins, Walter Jenkins, Dick Jenkins and William Jenkins; and three sisters: Carrie Jenkins, Georgie Jenkins and Katie Hanners.

She retired from General Motors in 1982 and was a member of U.A.W. Local No. 440.  She started her second career as a caregiver to homebound patients.  She retired as a caregiver at the age of 79.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 26th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Flinn - Geneva L. Flinn, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Monday, February 21, 2005, at her residence at the Hospitality House in Bloomington.   Born August 8, 1912, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Fred and Ortance (Kern) Cole. She married Arthur Flinn on December 23, 1934, and he died on November 1, 1998.

Surviving are one daughter, Judy Caswell and her husband, Jerry, of Bloomington, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson, Trent; two brothers, Fred and Wilbur Cole; four sisters: Pauline Speer, Naomi Bolton, Lois Bartley and Roberta Canada.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Central Church of Christ in Bedford.

Wagoner - Metta Marie Waggoner of Bedford, IN, died Monday, February 21, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born December 2, 1911, she was the daughter of Seth and Elizabeth (Moore) Thomas. She married Orville Waggoner on August 8, 1932, and he died on January 5, 1968.

Surviving are six children: Roy E. Waggoner and his wife, Sue, Ray E. Waggoner and his wife, Shirley, Sharon Hillenburg and her husband, Larry, Herb Waggoner and his wife, Rita all of Bedford, IN, Jane Mundy and her husband, Doug, of Columbus, IN, and Bill Waggoner and his wife, Joan, of Sebring, FL; twelve grandchildren:  Shiela Wood and her husband, Jim, Robert Waggoner, Bradley Waggoner and his wife, Sally, Michael Waggoner and his wife, Laura, John Mundy and his wife, DeAnne, Amy Cone, Cindy Alexander and her husband, Mike, Lori Waggoner, Darren Waggoner and his wife, Mindy, Deidre Deckard and her husband, Greg, Tina Hillenburg and Jim Hillenburg and his wife, Sarah; twenty great-grandchildren, Michael McCormick, Amanda Hunter and her husband, Sean, Audra and Anna Waggoner, Lacy and Laken Waggoner, Chelsea and Owen Mundy, Logan, Sarah and Olivia Cone, Kristi Schulte and her husband, Andrew, Jodie Reeves, Evan and Annie Waggoner, Jarod, Drew and Haley Deckard, Chelsea and Evan Hillenburg. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, James Waggoner (in infancy); one grandson, Rocky Waggoner; one brother, Perry Thomas; five sisters:  Vasthi Purkhiser, Daphne Gerkin, Virginia Waggoner, Pauline Bowman, and Winnie Wagoner.

She retired from Sarkes-Tarzian in Bloomington and was a member of the Mid-town Church of Christ in Bedford.

Allen - Dorothy B. Allen, 78, of Bedford, died at 7:40 pm on Sunday, February 20, 2005, at the Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.  Born January 3, 1927, in Greene County, IN, she was the daughter of Howard and Alma (Fines) Johnson. She married Lawrence Raymond Allen on January 19, 1944, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, John Allen and his wife, Sharron, of Bedford, IN, and Mike Allen and his wife, Susie, of Oolitic, IN; four grandchildren: Kelly McClure, Melissa Levine, Heather Speer and David Tatro; six great grandchildren: Curtis McClure, Allison Levine, Ashley Tatro, Shelby Tatro, Colman Speer and Tiauna Speer; six sisters: Kay Milligan and Carolyn Middleton both of Maryland, Patricia Allen and Brenda Johnson, both of Bedford, IN, Judith Nickols of Oklahoma, and Deborah Knoll of Indianapolis; two brothers, Gilbert Johnson of Mitchell, IN, and James E. Johnson of Bedford, IN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Deloris Fish; three brothers: Perry Johnson, Raymond Johnson, and Russell Johnson (in infancy).

She was a homemaker and a member of the Dive Christian Church.

Grimes - Benjamin Harrison Grimes of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, February 19, 2005, at his residence.  Born July 28, 1931, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Ben and Rosa (Nickless) Grimes.  He married Norma (Day) Grimes March 27, 1948, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two children, Benny Grimes and his wife, Regina, of Mitchell, IN, and Debbie Padgett and her husband, Dwight, of Owensburg, IN; five grandchildren:  Adam Grimes, Tracey Capps, Mistie Bishop, Josh Grimes and Raymond Grimes; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five sisters: Catherine Butler of Needmore, IN, Gertrude Wright of California, Farrell Ebert of Washington state, Dorothy Piekhart of Mitchell, IN, and Betty Summers of Columbus, IN.  He was preceded in death by two sons, Roger and Gary Grimes; one grandchild, Sarah Grimes; and two brothers, Rollie Grimes and Harold 'Curly' Grimes.

He was a carpenter in the Lawrence County area and a millwright, working on large projects all over Indiana, as well as home building.  He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Oolitic Masonic Lodge #750, and the Scottish Rites of Indianapolis.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 22nd, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mitchell Community Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Cresthaven Funeral Home and one hour before the service time Tuesday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Oolitic Patriots Lodge or Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Kern - Jessie Frances Kern of Bedford (Dive Community), IN, died Saturday, February 19, 2005. at the White River Lodge.  Born on April 16, 1910, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of James B. and Mary B. (Bluff) Jacobs. She married Robert Edward Kern in 1932, and he died December 7, 1982.

Surviving are two daughters, Roberta Sherrill and her husband, Irvin, and Rebecca Kinser and her husband, Larry, all of Bedford, IN; one son, Robert Franklin Kern and his wife, Judy, of Bedford, IN; nine grandchildren: Tim Sherrill and his wife, Debbie, George Sherrill and his wife, Paulette, Julie Keith and her husband, Lionel, Kelly Hauk and her husband, Gary, Kevin Kern, Lee Ann Hauersperger and her husband, Jeff, Debbie Vandeventer and her husband, Doug, Barry Kinser and his wife, Mary, and Tammy Alesia and her husband Steve; great grandchildren: Debra Wright and her husband, Terry, Leslie Staggs and Jeff, Jamie Magill and her husband, Josh, Beth Ann Hayes and her husband, J.D., Jennifer Denisha and her husband, Paul, Meghan Carmichael, Marci Carmichael, Brandon Umphress, Dustin Kern and his wife, Jessica, Lora Kern, Tara Kern, Robbie Kern, Nathaniel Hauersperger, Natalie Hauersperger, Evan Kinser, Jacob Alesia, Emily Alesia, Brenda Keith and Kyle Keith; great great grandchildren, Tierra Wampler, Donna Jo Wampler, Matthew Wampler, Janet Wright, Katie Voorhies, Sadie Magill, Trevor Magill, Trenadee Staggs, Landon Staggs, Briston Kern, Madelyn Kern, Noah Kern, Riley Keith, Caydon Keith, Wil Hayes, Alex Crane, Anna Hayes, Avery Denesha and Hayden Denesha. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dive Christian Church.

Mooney - Joshua Ray Mooney of Bedford died Saturday, February 19, 2005, at the home of his mother.  Born December 23, 1979, in Bedford, IN, was the son of Deborah K. DeLaney.  

Surviving are five brothers and sisters: Christopher J. Mooney and Jacqueline Mooney, both of Bedford, IN, Alexander S. Mooney of Bedford, IN (currently stationed in Iraq), Tiffany Buchanan Kristin and her husband, Jason, of Clear Creek, IN, and Katherine Haley and her husband, Zachary, of Lawrenceport, IN; two nieces, Emily Raine Haley and Kylee Kristin; his maternal great-grandmother, Lottie Pierce of Bedford, IN; and numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins; his very dear friend, Amy Pentzer; his mother's fiancé, Richard M. Buchanan and his mother and brother, Annis and Jon Buchanan of Clear Creek.  He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Betty M. Kendall; his grandfathers, Jack "Duke" DeLaney and Stanley Buchanan; and his dear friends: Kyle Davis, Jeremy Oakley and Daniel Easton.

Joshua worked at Dial America in Bloomington and he was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Bedford.

Stewart - Larry M. Stewart of Bedford, IN (Needmore community), died Saturday, February 19, 2005, at his residence.  Born March 3, 1938, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Delbert and Bernice (Watson) Stewart. He married Judith Judah on August 31, 1958, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife is one daughter, Linda Short and her husband, Brad, of Needmore, IN; two sons, Jeff Stewart and Brad Stewart, both of Needmore, IN; five grandchildren: Kristen Green and her husband, Joe, of Jeffersonville, IN, Hannah Simcoe and her husband, Denny, of Jacksonville, NC, Ashley Crenshaw and her husband, Ron, of Ft. Branch, IN, Adam and Aliza Short, both of Needmore, IN; one great-granddaughter, Kelsey Green of Jeffersonville, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Stultz.

He was the former owner of Stone City Construction Co. in Bedford and member of the operating engineers union. He was a trustee at Indiana Laborers Training Institute and a member of Gulletts Creek Baptist Church, the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM and Murat Shrine.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 23rd, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Ken Ransom officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Anderson - Abraham G. (Ham) Anderson of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 18, 2005, at the Westview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born February 27, 1906, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Blackburn) Anderson. He married Ruby Mae Mitchell on May 28, 1928, and she died April 27, 1977. He later married Louise Lively and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Dean Anderson and his wife, Myrtle, of Bedford, IN; one son in law, Bill Mapes, of Bedford, IN; one granddaughter, Libby Wilcox and her husband, Howard; three grandsons: Ricky Dean Anderson, Scott Mapes and his wife, Mary, and Doug Mapes and his wife, Julie; three great grandchildren: Chris Anderson and his wife, Michelle, Crystal Anderson, and Olivia Wilcox; one great-great granddaughter, Lauryn Michelle Anderson; two step-sons, Ed Wires and his wife, Jean, of Bedford, IN, and James Wires and his wife, Juanita, of Mitchell, IN; one step-granddaughter, Jamie Mosier; two step-grandsons, Brandon and Bradley Wires; one step-great-grandson, Jason Floyd; seven nieces: Ilene Houpt, Irene Ray, Norma Anderson, Corine Deckard, Margie Bodtker Marilyn Shull, Kathalene Garner; and one nephew, Bill Anderson. He was preceded in death by his first wife; one daughter, Rhea Dawn Mapes in September 1984; two brothers; and six sisters.

He attended Needmore High School and in 2002 received the Mr. Hilltopper Award. He worked at G.M. Central Foundry Division for thirteen years and retired from Bruce Tinsley Clothing. He was a longtime member of the Avoca Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22nd, at Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastors Kyle Witmer and Bob Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m.. at Day & Carter Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Avoca Baptist Church Building Fund.

Gosser - Osbie G. Gosser of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 18, 2005, at Bloomington Hospital.  Born February 8, 1938, in Kentucky, he was the son of Chillus and Callie (Luttrell) Gosser.

Surviving are one son, Andy Gosser of Lafayette, IN; two daughters, Rebecca Kirk of Bedford, IN, and Gaytha Martin of Lafayette, IN; six grandchildren; and three sisters:  Olean Gosser, Janet Begley and Shirley Dalton all of Bloomington, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, three brothers and one son.

He was retired from Purdue University in Lafayette.

Haverly - Charlotte A. Haverly of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 18, 2005, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born Oct. 22, 1917, in Washington County, IN, she was the daughter of Orville E. and Allie F. (Sailor) Reed.  She married Lawrence E. Haverly April 14, 1940, in Mitchell, IN. He died in 1993.

Surviving are one son, Bill Haverly and his wife, Regina, of Bedford, IN; four grandchildren: Stephen Haverly and his wife, Bobbi, of Bedford, IN; Stephanie Haverly-Koontz of Bedford, IN; Blair Johnson and his wife, Sue, of Jamestown, NY, and Leah Schnatmeier and her husband, Greg, of St. Louis, MO; five great-grandchildren: Heidi Haverly, Holli Haverly, Nicole Koontz, Nicklaus Johnson and Alexis Schnatmeier; and several nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, and one sister.

Stevens - Allen Dale Stevens of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, February 17, 2005, at his residence.

Surviving are his father and stepmother, Minford and Shirley Stevens of Bloomington, IN; two step-sisters, Beth A. Daniels Waterford and Jennifer D. Waterford, both of Bloomington, IN.

He was a truck driver.

Grabow - Barton G. (Bart) Grabow of Indianapolis, formerly of Bedford, IN, died February 16, 2005.  Born on January 1, 1928, in Big Bay, MI, he was the son of Rudolph and Edna C. Grabow.   He married Polly Cochran, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three children: Brad Grabow and his wife, Stephanie, of Carmel, IN,  Gretchen Joyce and her husband, Brien, of Jacksonville, FL, and Barton G. Grabow, Jr. and his wife, Chip of Venice, CA; two grandchildren: Kasey and Keagan Joyce; and one sister, Mary Swan-Withington, of San Jose, CA.

A 1945 graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1945 and of Indiana University where he received his bachelor of science degree in marketing in 1948. .  He was a member of Third Church of Christ Scientist, Indianapolis and The First Church of Christ Scientist, Boston.  He was a former vice president in corporate communications at PSI Energy, which he joined in 1962. He left PSI Energy in 1985 to form his own public relations consulting firm in Indianapolis.  Previous to that, he was a reporter and business editor at The Indianapolis News, from 1955 to 1959 and a reporter and columnist at The Bedford Daily Times-Mail, from 1950 to 1954. He also served as promotion director of Glendale Center 1959 to 1960.  He was past president of both the Hoosier Chapter, Public Relations Society of America, and the Indianapolis Public Relations Society.

Robbins - Mary Catherine Robbins of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born December 7, 1935, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Dudley and Avis (Taylor) Wykoff. She married Charles Robbins on November 30, 1953, in Bedford, IN, and he died in 1997.

Surviving are three sons: Charles Robbins and his wife, Holly, and Joey Robbins and his wife, Lou, all of Bedford, IN, and Ben Robbins and his wife, Sandra, of Mitchell, IN; four daughters: Terri Briscoe and her husband, Danny, Dora Robbins, and Jenny Purcell and her husband, Tony, all of Bedford, IN, and Linda Nicholson and her husband, David, of Norman, IN; 19 grandchildren: Jay and Lori Faubion, Stephanie Briscoe, Jesse Robbins, Michael Bailey, Travis Bailey, Tony Nicholson, Yvonne Doane, Trevor Robbins, Tyson Robbins, Tayla Robbins, Molly Robbins, Macy Robbins, Meagan Robbins, Lacey Robbins, Courtney Robbins, Amanda LuAllen, Dustin LuAllen and Brittany Purcell; four great-grandchildren: Katie Burton-Faubion, Sidney Faubion, Drew Bailey and Bryanne Bailey; five brothers: Dudley, Robert, Tommy, Roger and Jon Wykoff, all of Bedford, IN; and three sisters: Edna Berry and Sue Wykoff, both of Bedford, IN, and Carole Scroggins of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Don Wykoff.

She was a homemaker; and she had served as a poll worker in Lawrence County. She had served as a Red Cross volunteer and as a former pink lady at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bedford; and the Brownstown Chapter No. 264 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 19th, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Dailey and the Rev. Stephen Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.

Taylor - George R. Taylor of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at the Hospitality House in Bedford.  Born November 1, 1924, in Farraday, KY, he was the son of Harrison and Cora (Hampton) Taylor. He married Ileen Amburgey in Whitesburg, KY, on September 6, 1947, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three sons: Vincent Taylor of Westville, IN, Jerry Taylor of Bedford, IN, and Dean Taylor of Griffith, IN; one daughter, Beverly Johnson of Bedford, IN; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Herschel, Tommy and Lonnie Taylor; and one sister, Dorothy Taylor.

He retired from Ford Visteon of Bedford; and he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Southland Church of Christ in Bedford.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.

Pearson - Luella E. (Elizabeth) Pearson of Springville, IN, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at the Bloomington Hospital.   Born January 23, 1919, in Martin County, IN, on the CRANE Depot property, she was the daughter of Marlin J. and Nellie (Crane) Hert.  She married Worth T. Pearson and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Jocelyn Brooks and her husband, Don, of Springville, IN; three  granddaughters: Jennifer England and her husband, Ron, Gretchen Brooks, and Autumn Pearson;  three great grandaughters: Chelsea, Morgan and Lauren; one sister, Kathleen Mitchell and her husband, Charles, of Edinburgh, IN, and their families; one brother-in-law, James May and his family of Springville, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Nolan Hert; one sister, Joanne May; and one son, William (Bill) E. Pearson.

She was a beautician in Springville and Oolitic and had been employed at Sarkes-Tarzian in Bloomington, General Motors in Bedford and the Springville Feeder Auction. She was a member of the Springville Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 20th, at the Springville West Cemetery with Rev. Kyle Witmer officiating. Henderson - Jerry E. Henderson of Springville, IN, died Monday, February 14, 2005, at the Hospitality House in Bedford.  He was born September 9, 1937.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Louise (Mahan) Henderson of Bedford; two sons: Brad Henderson of Williams and Bob Henderson of Bedford; one daughter, Evelyn Jean Turpen of Springville; four brothers: Donald Henderson of Bedford, Gary Henderson of Indianapolis, Pat Henderson of Heltonville and Mike Henderson of Mitchell; two sisters: Dorothy Deckard of Bedford and Carol Hutchinson of Heltonville; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He had been employed at local quarries and at Bruner's in Bedford.

James - John A. James of Bedford, IN, died Monday, February 14, 2005, at the Bloomington Hospital.  Born March 10, 1923, in Waldon, IN, he was the son of Robert A. and Fairy Pearl (Huffer) James. He married Sarah Catherine Bolding in June 1948, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Stephen A. James of Bedford.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one step-daughter, Donna Jean McClain Beasley in 1964.

He was employed at General Motors, Central Foundry Division of Bedford, retiring in 1973. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served as a mechanic during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 of Bedford and VFW Post No. 1686.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 17th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pat Blyeth officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post # 33. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Lessig - Judith Elaine Lessig of Bedford, IN, died Monday, February 14, 2005, at her residence.  Born June 15, 1948 in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Orval Ray and Julie Ann (Cole) Lessig.

Surviving are one daughter, Lisa M. Stigall of Bedford, IN; three granddaughters:  Randi E. Lessig, Brittany E. Crank and Kelsey C. Crank, all of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Ruby Shelton of Bedford, IN, and Janet Miller of Illinois; two brothers, Leroy Lessig of Mitchell, IN, and Roy Lessig of Sarasota, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Richard, Perry, Harold and Mike Lessig; and two sisters, Maxine Watterson and Norma Gene Chastain.

Nolan - Moneta A. Nolan of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, February 14, 2005, at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.  Born October 5, 1911, in Jeffersonville, IN, she was the daughter of John C. and Margaret (Himebaugh) Stoner. She married Paul Earl Nolan on June 25, 1933, and he died on May 20, 1975.

Surviving are two children: Ronald E. Nolan and his wife, Janis, of Bedford, IN, and Elizabeth I. Haley and her husband, William, of Monticello, IN; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers: Marvin and Charles Stoner.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Orleans Church of Christ.

Dixon - Maggie Ellen (Wesner) Dixon of Fort Ritner, IN, Sunday, February 13, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born April 19, 1925, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Anthony and Lena (Lockman) Wesner. She married Winford Dixon on July 21, 1945, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one son, Marty Dixon of Hartford, CT; one daughter, Crystal Curren and her fiancé Mike Fidler of Bedford, IN; four grandchildren: Anna (Green) Gates and her husband, Nick, of Bloomfield, IN, April Dixon of Jupiter, FL, Lensey Dixon and Danon Dixon, both of Hartford, CT; one brother, James Wesner and his wife, Joanne, of Bedford, IN; nieces and nephews:  Alan Wesner, Amber Arthur, Angela Bond, all of Bedford, IN, Gatha Dorsey and Rex Wesner, both of Indianapolis, Roger Dixon, Virginia Ross and Linda Petro, all of Columbus, IN, Mike and Kenny Dixon, both of Florida; and her caregiver, Connie Mazer of Bedford.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Carrol Wesner; and one sister, Violet Gibson.

She was employed during World War II at Shirley Cabinet Co. in Indianapolis, where she assembled Curtis Com. C-46 airplanes.  She later was a librarian assistant at Tunnelton High School and Bedford High School.  She was a member of the Fort Ritner United Methodist Church; Ladies Auxiliary of Gillen Post No. 33, American Legion; and she was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Alhorn - Charles "Frank" Alhorn Jr. of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 11, 2005, at Mitchell Manor Nursing Home in Mitchell.  Born March 17, 1922, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Charles Frank Alhorn Sr. and Henrietta (Schmidt) Alhorn. He married Viola Soder on October 16, 1948, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Carol Alhorn of Bedford, IN; one grandson, Cody Alhorn of Bedford, IN; one brother, John Alhorn of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Mary Ellen Williams and her husband, Jack ,of Indianapolis, and Martha Wade of Bedford, IN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a driver with Greyhound Bus Co., had worked at Extruded Alloys Inc. in Bedford, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with the invasion forces in Europe during World War II..  He retired from the Bedford office of the U.S. Forest Service.  He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Bedford, Bedford Elks Lodge and American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 of Bedford.

Heinsen - Barbara H. Heinsen of Bedford, IN, died Friday, February 11, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  She was born on November 25, 1936.

Surviving are two daughters, Annette Bos of Cambridge, KS, and Linda Thompson of Ellettsville, IN; and one son, Tom Heinsen of Colorado.

She was retired from USFG Insurance Co. in Omaha, NE, where she was a transcriptionist.

Pridemore - Linda E. (Miller) Pridemore of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, February 11, 2005, at her residence.  Born January 7, 1950, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Russell E. and Marceal (Miller) Miller. She married Ermel Earl Pridemore February 14, 1998, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are four daughters: Marcy Umphress, Crystal Bragg, and Alicia Knowles, all of Mitchell, IN, and Renee Meier of Evansville, IN; stepchildren:  Dianna Pruett and David L. Pridemore, both of Evansville, IN, and Darlene Hunter of Houston, TX; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Steven Miller.

A 1968 graduate of Bedford High School, she was formerly employed at the Golden Gables Restaurant and Federal Home Health Care. She was a member of Woodville Baptist Church.

There will be a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15th, at the Chastain Funeral Home with Chaplain Merle Mullins officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.  Memorial Gifts may be directed to: Hoosier Uplands Hospice Lawrence County Patient Services in care of the funeral home.

Rainbolt - Sharon A. Rainbolt of Bloomington, IN, died Friday, February 11, 2005, at the Bloomington Hospital.  Born on September 17, 1943, in Daviess County, IN, she was the daughter of Homer and Gertrude (Shepherd) Wilson. She married James Rainbolt on September 22, 1979, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving is one son Joseph Rainbolt of Anderson, IN; one grandson: Thomas Rainbolt of Bloomington, IN; one brother: Steve Wilson of Dayton, OH; two sisters: Barbara Littlehale of Washington, DC and Sue Baker of Bloomington, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one son: Jeffery Rainbolt\

She worked for 33 years at Thompson Electronics and was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Bloomington.

Chasteen - Kimberly J. (Shirley) Chasteen of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, February 10, 2005, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Born September 7, 1969 in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Charles Chasteen and Phyllis LaDonna (Lake) Page.

Surviving are her mother of Springville, IN; her father of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Felicia Lynae Shirley and Sarah Elizabeth Shirley of Bedford, IN; one son, Eric Scott Chasteen of Bedford, IN; one sister, Melissa Nicholson and her husband, Rick, of Bedford, IN; one niece, Kyla Nicholson of Bedford, IN; three nephews: Christopher, Brandon and Michael Nicholson, all of Bedford, IN; maternal grandmother, Elma Louise Page of Springville, IN; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Catherine E. Chasteen and her maternal grandfather, Louis Dale Page.

Holland - Ruth “Waneta” Holland of Springville, IN, died Thursday, February 10, 2005, at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.  Born May 3, 1919, she was the daughter of Roy and Nellie (Cummings) Hunter. She was raised in the Zelma area where she lived most of her life.  She married Edmond Holland on September 26, 1936, and he died in 1985.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Barrett and her husband, Byron, of Bedford, IN, and Judy Johnson of Springville, IN; one sister, Evelyn Dodds and her husband, Raymond, Jr. of Arcadia, FL; grandchildren, Ed and Becky Barrett, Dee and Barry Ray and Shan Barrett, all of Bedford, IN, Lonnie Johnson of Springville, IN, Monte Johnson of Bedford, IN, Shellie and Steve Doub of Hamilton, OH; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Ray and Everett Hunter; and one sister, Eva Hunter.

She was a homemaker and a help-mate.

Cunnington - Charles Cunnington of Shoals, IN, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at Bloomington Hospital.  Born April 22, 1930, in Fort Wayne, IN, he was the son of Charles and Irene (Foster) Cunnington. He married Betty Watts on June 1, 1963, and she survives.

Survivors with his wife, Betty Cunnington of Las Vegas, NV, are children: Steve Kamphues of Fort Wayne, IN, Sherry, Shelly and David Angel, Frances Myrick, Tina Dominguez, Sue Magdaleno, Leslie Cunnington and Tanya Scott, all of Las Vegas, NV; 25 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Cunnington of Tolano, IL; and two sisters: Dolly Kellermeier of Independence, KY, and Norma Phillips of Indianapolis.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a retired Teamster in Las Vegas, Nev., and a member of the Teamster Local No. 631 and the Moose Lodge No. 1924, both of Las Vegas, NV; and he was a fireman for the Volunteer Fire Department of Williams, IN.

McMullen - Gertrude Ann "Noots" McMullen of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at her residence.  Born September 12, 1925, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Jack and Elizabeth (Mahoney) O'Brien. She married Harold McMullen on September 5, 1953.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathleen Hirons of Bloomington, IN; three sons: Paul McMullen of Bedford, IN, Greg McMullen of Fort Wayne, IN, and Kevin McMullen of Seymour, IN; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Meghan Hirons of Indianapolis; four grandsons:  Daniel Hirons and Anthony Lucas, both of Bloomington, IN, Patrick McMullen and Matthew McMullen, both of Fort Wayne, IN; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Maureen McMullen; five brothers:  John, Joseph, Gregory, William and Frank O'Brien; and one sister, Kathleen Bridwell.

A 1943 graduate of Bedford High School, she had been employed as a bookkeeper for Bedford Water Works and Public Service Indiana and later as a clerk at O'Brien's Liquor Store of Bedford, retiring in 1982.  She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Bedford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 14th, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Dan Donohoo officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Brand - William Rollin "Bill" Brand of Bedford, IN, passed away on February 8.  Born on January 1, 1966, in Bloomington, IN, he was the son of William and Janis (Hoggatt) Brand, and he had lived in Bloomington most of his life.  He married Stacy Best, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife, Stacy, of Bedford, are his son, Jake Brand, at home; his parents of Bloomington, IN; two brothers, Andrew Brand and his wife, Angi, of Fortville, IN, and Matthew Brand of Bloomington, IN; his maternal grandmother, Helen Lewis of Bloomington, IN; six aunts and uncles: John Brand of Salt Lake City, UT, Margaret Pluth of San Diego, CA, Stanley Hoggatt of Houston, TX, Ruth Stewart of Cleveland, OH, Nancy Jordan of Indianapolis and Lynn Hill of Port Isabelle, TX; and six cousins.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rollin Hoggatt, and his paternal grandparents, William and Ethel Brand.

He was graduated from Indiana University in 1999, with a degree in Kinesiology; held an EMT certificate; and was studying nursing at IVY Tech in Bloomington. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford, was formerly a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Ellettsville, and had attended St. Charles Catholic School in Bloomington.

There will be a mass of Christian Burial conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 11th, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Father Charlie Chesebrough presiding.  Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery in Bloomington.  Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home of Bloomington.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Middleway House in care of Allen Funeral Home.

Norton - Billy Joe Norton of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at his residence.  Born October 25, 1948, in Columbus, IN, he was the son of William Thomas and Rissie Pearl (Bryant) Norton. He married Helen Marie Fields on November 24, 1966, in Columbus, IN, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Kimberly Ann (Norton) Tolbert and her husband, Wesley, and Melissa Dawn Norton, all of Bedford, IN; two grandchildren, Jacob Wesley Tolbert and Hannah Marie Tolbert, both of Bedford, IN; one brother, Bobby Ray Norton and his wife, Linda Marie, of Edinburgh, IN; one nephew, Bobby Norton Jr. of Edinburgh, IN; one niece, Cassandra "Sandy" Bryant of Edinburgh, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He graduated from Edinburgh High School with the class of 1966, and he was currently employed at Visteon in Bedford as a bottle line assembler. He had previously worked at Whitney Tool Company in Bedford for 19 years.  He attended Fairview Church in Bedford and was a member of the IBEW (IUE) Union. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, February 11th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Wood - Lucille M. Wood of Orleans, IN, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at her residence.  Born September 2, 1920, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of William Henry and Sarah E. (Persinger) Reynolds. She first married Carl Cooper and he died in 1999. She next married Raymond "Spike" Wood and he also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Ron Cooper of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Louise Jeffries of Mitchell, IN; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husbands; three sons; one daughter; seven brothers; and three sisters.

She was retired from Trav-ler Radio Corp., formerly of Orleans.  She was a member of the Spice Valley Church of Jesus Christ in Mitchell.

Traywick - Shirley A. Traywick of Bedford, IN, died Monday, February 7, 2005, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born October 30, 1924, in South Dakota, she was the daughter of Leo and Susie (Starr) Gannon. She married Hollis Traywick on January 10, 1948, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Diana Prince and her husband, Jimmie, of Mitchell, IN; two grandchildren, Aleta Taylor and her husband, Gregg, of Bedford, IN, and Beth Covey and her husband, Jason, of Mitchell, IN; three great-grandchildren: Emily, Kaci and Caleb; two sisters, Margie Lee of Daingerfield, TX, and Kay Gannon of Long Beach, CA; three brothers, Dick Gannon of Rapid City, SD, Bob Gannon of Walla Walla, WA, and Ken Gannon of Summerville, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gary; and three brothers: Tommy, Frank and Bill Gannon.

Breedlove - Thelma E. (Fish) Breedlove of Norman, IN, died Sunday, February 6, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born August 2, 1919, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of James and Lena (Stipp) Cummings. She married Fred Fish in July 1934, and he died in 1967. She later married Ira Breedlove on May 6, 1972, and he died in December 1989.

Surviving are one daughter, Susie Bailey of Bedford, IN; one son, David Fish and his wife, Donna, of Bedford, IN; a daughter-in-law, Kay Fish of Springville, IN; ten grandchildren: Linda Poole and her husband, Wayne,  Sharon Montgomery and her husband, Mike, all of Columbus, IN, Clint Fish and his wife, Tonya, of Bloomington, IN, Christy Seville and her husband, Keith, of Florida, Darin Fish and his wife, Danielle, Kortni Fish, Jason Bailey and his wife, Wendy,  and Jared Bailey, all of Bedford, IN, Tonya Bunch and her husband, Kevin, of Mitchell, IN, and Tammy Martindale of Georgia; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Bob Cummings of Seymour, IN; one sister, Mabel Gulley of Winchester, IN; several nieces and nephews and her caretaker, Shirley Hamilton of Norman, IN. She was preceded in death by both husbands; two sons, Alfred and Ronn Fish; three brothers: Ralph, George and Cecil Cummings; three sisters: Alma Hughes, Gladys Jones and Mary Prewitt; one daughter-in-law, Louise Fish; one son-in-law, Denny Bailey; and one grandchild, Allen Fish.

She was a homemaker and was employed at NSWC CRANE for a short time. She was a member of the Mundell Christian Church, the Norman Conservation Club and the Flatwood Neighbors Club.

Purtlebough - Kennith Wayne (Kenny) Purtlebaugh of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, in an automobile accident south of Orleans.  Born November 29, 1977, in Bloomington, IN, he was the son of Kevin Purtlebaugh and Rebecca (Payton) Meadows.

Surviving are his father, Kevin Purtlebaugh, of Bloomington, IN; children:  Ryan, Hannah, Damian, Katilyn, Isaac, and Hunter; his girlfriend and mother of Isaac and Hunter, April Bridges; and two sisters, Jennifer Little of Orleans, IN, and Jasmine Purtlebaugh of Mitchell, IN.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Meadows.

He was employed at Stone City Products.

Kern - Aaron “Mathew” Kern of Bedford, IN, died February 3, 2005 in Bedford.  Born July 17, 1982, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of Terry and Kimberly (Hearth) Kern.

Surviving are his parents of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Tobbie and Jessica Kern, both of Bedford, IN; two step-sisters, Terri Braun of Bedford, IN, and Jennifer Class of Bloomfield, IN; three nieces: Marea Enochs, MaryAnna Barnett and Elizabeth Barnett, all of Bedford, IN; one nephew, Joseph Braun of Bedford, IN; maternal grandmother, Sue Hearth of Bedford, IN; paternal grandmother, Sue Cassidy of Bedford, IN; paternal grandfather, Merle Kern of Versailles, IN; aunts and uncles, Paula and Richard Holmes of Bedford, IN, Denise Sharp and Steve Starr of Bedford, IN, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Max Hearth; his paternal step-grandfather, Oliver Gillium; two uncles, David Hearth and Tim Kern and one aunt, Debbie Starr.

He was a construction worker in Bedford.

Williams - Virginia M. Williams of Williams, IN, died Thursday, February 3, 2005, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born April 9, 1909, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Claude and Myrtle (Sargent) Baker. She married Paul Canaan Williams on October 1, 1930, in Lawrence County, IN, and he died in 1965. 

Surviving are one son, John A. Williams and his wife, Jean, of Bedford, IN; one granddaughter, Lisa Williams Webb and her husband, Robert, of Bedford, IN; one grandson, John A. Williams Jr. and his wife,Tracy, of Bedford, IN; two great-grandsons, Robert Alexander and John Andrew Webb, both of Bedford, IN; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Mary and Margaret Ann Williams, both of Bedford, IN; and two brothers, Jack Baker of Tennessee and William Baker of Florida.  She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, George Alton Baker.

She was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Williams Church of Christ and the John Wallace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 7, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Brother Paul Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens in Bedford. Esboldt - Sharon Kay (Kocur) Esboldt of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at the Bloomington Hospital of Orange County in Paoli.  Born January 4, 1948, in Lake County, IN, she was the daughter of Walter A. and Esther (Sandor) Kocur. She married Robert W. Esboldt and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one son, Robert A. Esboldt of Mitchell, IN; one adopted son, Donald Wheatcraft of Mitchell, IN; one half-sister, Shirley Stankovich; one niece, Karen Esboldt; one nephew, Martin Esboldt; and one brother-in-law, Bernard Esboldt and his wife Elizabeth.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Esboldt, and one brother.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mitchell and Ladies of the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, February 5th, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mitchell with Father Rautenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens of Bedford. Manzenberger - Ruth Manzenberger of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford.  Born March 29, 1914, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Paris and Oma (Holsapple) May. She married William F. Manzenberger on July 2, 1931, and he died June 14, 1987.

Surviving are one son, Michael Manzenberger and his wife, Janet, of Springville, IN; three daughters: Carolyn Byrd and her husband, Preston, and Jean Sims, all of Bedford, IN, and Phyllis Root and her husband, James, of Spencer, IN; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Bill and Perry May; two sisters, Geneva Bartlett and Gladys Smith; son-in-law, Norman Sims; and one great-grandson.

She was a homemaker and seamstress, and she had worked at RCA in Bloomington.  She was a member of Guthrie Christian Church.

Mullen - Ryan G. Mullen of Bedford, IN, died February 2, 2005, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Born March 28, 1985, in New Orleans, LA, he was the son of Robert and Linda (Crank) Mullen.

Surviving are his fiancée, Amanda Stockton of Bedford, IN; his parents of Bedford, IN; one brother, John Mullen of Glen Burnie, MD; three sisters:  Rachel, Michelle and Bethany Mullen, all at home; maternal grandparents, Don and Ginia Crank of Bloomington, IN; paternal grandfather, James G. Mullen and his wife, Alma, of Dayton, OH; and several aunts and uncles.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ruth A. Mullen.

He was an automobile detailer and certified for dog training.
