Just wondering how many of you think Obama is bad for small business? I know that many of my business associates (other sm biz owners) are really worried of the potential changes and tax increases during a time of extreme strain on the economy. Many are making contingency plans (looking at layoffs, cutting expenses, etc.) right now.

How are you all feeling?

Honestly I don't know what to think. All I know is that we need a change. I REALLY wish we had a viable 3rd party in the US (or heck even more than that, but I'd settle for one more).

The Republicans (who we normally count on to be fiscally responsible) have spent us into the poor house these last 8 years. And despite the tax breaks given out, our economy has tanked. Mainly due to out of control spending. By consumers and government both. But job loss can be factored in there as well. If your "average Joe" is only making half what he used to in his new job. You can bet he isn't spending as much as he used to.

The Dems don't have a good track record on spending and/or taxes. And from what I've seen they are the worse of the two when it comes to "playing nice with others". The Dem controlled congress hasn't gotten much done over the past 2 years.

One thing to keep in mind is this. It doesn't matter what they promise in the pre-election days. It matters what they do once they are in office. As most know a lot of the promises made will vanish. Either due to political fighting blocking it. Or "at the moment" circumstances making it impossible. One of the most famous of these was George Bush Sr. "Read my lips, no new taxes.". Of course once he got into office, he realized he couldn't keep that promise.

What I want in a president is pretty simple. I want someone who is ethical, honest, and who isn't afraid to tell me bad news (I need the truth, not sugar coating). Unfortunately in the political realm of our nation today those 3 qualities actually seem to hurt your political career. Crazy world isn't it?
