I am sick to know that Deb & Mike Shannon just lost their jobs at WQRK. What a shame WQRK, Dean and Holly! You have no idea what you have just done. Those two made your station. We will no longer listen to the other crap that you have on the air. It is all recorded. Deb & Mike have given their all to help that station and the community and you thank them this way. Dean you need to stand up for what you know in your heart is the right thing to do for Mike & Deb instead of allowing people that don't have any idea about the radio business to lead you around by the nose. She is running your station into the ground and I will be glad to see that happen. Just because they put something on their morning fun site to allow people to voice their opinions to both of you - you chose to let the best thing that ever happened to that station go. I pray that this community stands behind Mike & Deb and helps them get through this very difficult time. They have supported all of you and now it is your turns to step up to the plate and be there for them. They love your community. Please show your support for them by not listening to this station any more.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! How can a radio station be so dumb! Shame on you Dean Spencer. How can you do this to 2 people who so willingly gave of their time and efforts to build up your station by having a fun, family friendly morning show that made everyone laugh and feel better about themselves. They offered their time and help to community projects and social service agencies. They went way over and above whatever you paid them to do because they loved the people of BEDFORD and they loved WQRK. What a huge slap in the face. Well, I'm guessing the last laugh will be on your radio station because without Mike & Deb.....I hope your station goes belly up. I personally will encourage everyone I know to TURN THE CHANNEL. NO MORE WILL I LISTEN TO ANY DEAN SPENCER OWNED STATIONS BECAUSE HE DOES NOT KNOW THE MEANING OF LOYALTY, HONOR, AND APPRECIATION. He would rather give us canned garbage from another state, than real people from our own community - who cared about us.

I'm in shock, what is going on here? Where's Shannon and Deb? Shannon and Deb have been one of the best things that have happened to Bedford! They are two of the kindest real people that I've ever met. Their morning program is fantastic. They have done so much for this community. Is this how we thank them? I love their music, their jokes, the fact that they give us a very family oriented program, that anyone can listen to. My radio was on all the time. I don't know what has happened, but could you please put them back on the air? I don't know of another station that I can turn to. And I will not listen to WQRK, nor support any of your advertisers without them. This is so unfair! Shannon and Deb, if you read this, I'm so sorry and ashamed at how you are being treated. You have become like part of my family. I am going to pray that God will turn this around, and Bless you and your kids with such a mighty blessing that you will just praise His Name, and be overwelmed with His Love! Did you know that not only are Shannon and Deb gone but so are some of their accounts reps. I just found out that my rep is gone and no one bothered to let me know. I had to find out from a rep at another station. What is going on with this station????? Bring back Shannon and Deb!! I will be taking my advertising dollars elsewhere.

As a longtime friend and advertiser with WBIW. I have been inside the radio station many times. One particular occasion I overheard Mike cursing VERY loudly. (He didnt know I was there)

Mike was shouting obsenities in the presence of co-workers and visitors. Id consider this very inconsiderate and unprofessional behavior.
Perhaps the sales reps left WBIW because they grew tired of Mike's language and attitude?

To find the real culprits responsible for this termination, Shannon and Deb need only look in the mirror.

I have total confidence in Dean Spencer. His business will continue to serve this community as it always has.

No you know that isn't true... one, I don't act that way and two, the radio station wouldn't have that kind of thing happening. I find it amazing that people can accuse us but hide behind a screen name. If you are so positive of what you heard, let's have some names, dates and times. Two salespeople left, 1 to pursue a job outside of radio, one went to another radio station. Their leaving had nothing to do with any of the whopper you have told.

Yes it is a true story. I witnessed this in person, that is a fact.

I have chosen to remain anonymous to protect my name and business from the slanderous accusations you've made towards the radio station and its management.

I spoke with an aquaintence who was previously a sales rep there. They said this type of behavior was a regular occurrance and not a one time thing.


I only witnessed one incident, but if this frequently happened I can definitely
understand the radio station's position in dismissing Mr Shannon. Ive never dealt with Deb, so I cant comment on her.

No truth to it all. Sorry... nothing like that was ever brought up to us, becuse it never happened. Thats the bottom line, post what you want, and have that salesperson call me and tell me direct, then I will believe it... but I won't get a call because its all made up. Isn't there something better to do with your time?

HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN??!! HOW COULD WQRK be so STUPID!! When I first moved to Bedford 15 years ago, I thought your radio station sucked! It wasn't until Mike & Deb came on the air....that I even began to listen. I was devoted morning, noon and night!
This event reminds me of the 80's Coke-Cola sabotage, back when the "New Coke" was being brought out and the classic coke was no longer available.
WQRK--don't you see what happened to Coke-Cola then? HUGE MISTAKE!! What did they do? Brought back CLASSIC and it's never disappointed anyone!
You need to bring Mike & Deb back and you NEED to kiss their butts for saving your sorry radio station!

Businessman that hides. I have been in the radio station MANY times! I have been to many remotes! I have seen Shannon out and about! Shannon is a man of honesty!! trust! Even when swamped with dead lines he still has the time and the patience to say hi.. share a smile and pass you a joke. Sounds like to me you have an ax to grind. I understand freedom of speech... but why the slander? I understand why you would want no one to know who you are. I believe there are still laws out against slanding a good mans name.

As for the sales rep that left the station. I know they did what is best for them in growing their careers! I am very happy for the both of them and wish only the best! They too will be missed!

Just because you've had nice encounters with Shannon and Deb doesnt make what Im saying a lie. I believe what you are telling me. Why wouldnt I?
But on the same token, what Im saying is the absolute truth as well. Maybe Mr Shannon was having a bad day? Still there's no excuse for the language and behavior I witnessed. He was going berzerk, slamming doors and shouting. Not a good environment for the workplace at all.

The only "slander" Ive seen on this forum has been directed at Mr Spencer and Mrs Lindsay.

There's nothing wrong with friends supporting Shannon and Deb. I can respect that. But there are other people who are glad they are gone, that opinion must be respected also.

Your posting what is seen and heard ONE time as you say. That sould be kept to yourself.

Seeing you act that way would not mean that I would have the right to post it.

A person can say I am sad to see some them go. or they can say good riddins.

I like to think that the station did what they did for grownth.. a smart business move. BUT when the word gets out that you are about to loss your job and you DID NOT find that out from mangament because managemet decided to share with other.

NOT letting the people involved know FIRST and they finds out from someone that is not in mangement

Then a few people start lashing out.. that is not right!

What happens when the doors to a plant closes. Will you lash out that them too? WIll you find something rude to say? How will this effect your business?

People loss their jobs every day. NO ONE has the right to slander their there name! I feel like that is what is being done!!!
