Some information for Crane job seekers. 2008/08/21 15:29 (3 Months, 1 Week ago) Karma: 0
I thought I'd post what I've found out over the past 8 months.

First off I think most of the job openings at Crane are filled by the rules. However the evidence I have posted below shows that not every single job opening is filled "by the book". Unfortunately it also shows that some people will go to great lengths to cover that fact up.

This starts with the posting of job openings for "Explosives Handler WG-5" in the Times Mail back in July of 2007. The job was then posted again in November 2007. I called and was told that the hiring list from the July announcement had been "exhausted". I thought this was strange since I was on it, but hadn't been called.

So I filed a complaint with DOL-VETs. Which you can find at http://www.dol.gov/vets/. What follows is the Crane Army Ammo Activity (CAAA) CO's letter to the DOL-VETs investigator in response to my complaint.

You should also note at the end of the letter. He says that he cannot send the DOL investigator a hiring list since it is still active. The CO wrote this letter on January 24th, 2008 (see date on letter). However I'd been told the list was exhausted at the end of November 2007. So he was being less than truthful there.

And here is the relevant part of the hiring list from that first announcement.

There were a total of 69 people hired from this first list. There were 3 more announcements created for these positions. And quite a few more people hired from those 3 announcements. So it's quite possible that more violations were committed on those following 3 announcements.

Additionally they said the same thing to the Merit Service Protection Board (MSPB - Which you can find at www.mspb.gov). So this wasn't a one time deal. Or an admin mess up.

As you can see from the hiring list above only first names are listed (part of the privacy policy). I would like to find the 14 other veterans listed here. So that we can address this issue as a group.

So if you applied for this first announcement in July of 2007. And your first name matches one of the names with a 77 score on the above list. Please contact me. Even if you were eventually hired off one of the other lists. Since it's quite possible you are owed some back pay. From the point you should have actually been hired.

I would like to request that people please print this letter out and give it to friends. Or send it to people you think might be one of the 14 others who got a 77 score.

I'd also request that you post this around to other community boards. I think that all of the local communities, that Crane serves, should know about this.

I can be contacted at: passedover at yahoo.com

Thanks in advance for your help!

The economy is in bad shape, but gas prices are way down. How far will you be traveling for the Holidays?
