Has anyone heard anything about Iraq tours being shortened to 1 year as opposed to the 15 months they are now? If so, when does that become effective?

Yes, this is true. The Department of the Army has decided to cut the 15 month tours for all Regular Army(full time active) units back to 12 months. I am not sure of the reasoning behing it. But, I did read it in the Army Times.
