Rose - Jason E. Rose of Mitchell of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born June 25, 1984, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of James Harmon and Jill Ann (Hackney) Rose.
Surviving are his mother, Jill Ann Rose of
Mitchell, IN; one sister, Angela Marie Rose of Oolitic, IN; his grandparents,
Carson and Lela Hackney of Bedford, IN; great grandparents, Joe and Roxie Eggers
of Bedford, IN; one niece, Shelby Pruett; and several aunts, uncles, and
cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Red and
Dottie Rose.
He was employed in customer service at Wal-Mart in Bedford and was a member of
Orleans Christian Church and Suit Hanki Car Club. He was a 2003 graduate of
Mitchell High School and was attending Ivy Tech State College.
Services for Jason Rose will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4th, at
Chastain Funeral Home with Bro.Tom Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in
Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and
from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Saturday at the Chastain Funeral Home.

Sorrells - Ronald L. Sorrells of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, August 30, 2004, at his residence. Born June 17, 1942, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Laverne and Helen Louise (Stroud) Sorrells. He married Regina F. Deckard March 18, 1961, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Connie Blanton of
Mitchell, IN; three brothers: Richard L. Sorrells of Florida, Steven M.
Sorrells, and Terry G. Sorrells, both of Bedford, IN; and one grandson, Anthony
Lee Blanton of Mitchell, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; one
son, Anthony Duane Sorrells; and one brother, Jerry D. Sorrells.
A 1960 graduate of Huron High School, he had been employed at Roberts Brass and
Extruded Alloys.
There will be graveside services for Ronald Sorrells at 10:00 a.m. Thursday,
September 2nd, at Mitchell Cemetery with Bro. Larry Brown officiating.

Wood - Chester Wood of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, August 30, 2004, at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born on January 16, 1922, in Mitchell, IN, he was the daughter of Robert B. and Edna (Clouse) Wood. He married Rosa Nell Chastain on May 16, 1941, and she died on February 3, 2004.
Surviving are one daughter, Charlene Stromatt of Norman, IN; two sons, Roy W. Wood of Orleans, IN, and Carey D. Wood of Mitchell, IN; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandchild, four brothers, and one sister.
He retired from Central Foundry in 1980 and was an Army veteran of WW II. He was a member of the Mitchell Nazarene Church and the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post 250.
Services for Chester Wood will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 3rd, at Haverly Mortuary with Pastor Alan Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. until the service time Friday at Haverly Mortuary.

Robert E. Armstrong of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, August 29, 2004,
at Hospitality House. He was born on February 12, 1933. He was
disabled.
There are no known survivors.

September 2nd, at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Friends may call from 11

Kline - Mary Kline of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, August 29, 2004, at her residence. Born February 24, 1925, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Marlin and Belle (Brewer) Redyard. She married William D. Kline on December 14, 1945, and he died in 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Marsha Canada and her husband, Nathan, of Indianapolis, and Dorothea McCullough and her husband, Robert, of Ft. Wayne, IN; one son, William B. Kline and his wife, Jennifer, of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren: Benjamin Anderson and his wife, Lauren, of Austin, TX, Eric Canada and his wife, Kim, of Indianapolis, Haley Fausett and her husband, Shawn, of Ft. Benning, GA, Abby Kline, William R, Kline, Jordan Kline and Jacob Kline all of Bedford, IN; one great grandchild, Cameron Neal of Bedford, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1989; one son, Robert M. Kline in 1991; and two sisters, Jane Worman and Marie Weaver.
She retired from Crane in 1985. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for seventy years where she had been a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group Leader.
Services for Mary Kline will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 1st, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Chaplain Karla Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the service time on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Lintz - Mary Lou Ella Lintz of Orleans, IN, died Thursday, August 26, 2004, at the Bloomington Hospital of Orange County in Paoli. Born on April 19, 1941, in Celina, TN, she was the daughter of Grover and Anna (Maxwell) Johnson. She married Robert G. Lintz on September 23, 1967, in Tennessee, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one son, Robert E.
Lintz of Bedford, IN; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two brothers,
Paul Johnson and Eugene Johnson, both of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Louise
Garrison and Rhonda Collins and her husband, Mike, all of Tennessee; and several
nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one
brother; and one sister.
She was a homemaker.
Services for Mary Lintz will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 30th, at Ferguson-Lee

Hughes - George Hughes Jr., of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born June 2, 1924, in Jackson County, IN, he was the son of George and Janie (Butler) Hughes. He married Elta Mae Spray on July 13, 1945, in Lawrence County, IN, and she died on November, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters: Penny Bundy and her
husband, Frank, and Debra Deckard and her husband, Richard, all of Bedford, IN;
five grandchildren: Shannon Bundy, Tiffany Grogan, Stacey Moore, Kelley Graves
and Shad Deckard; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters: Genevieve "Jenny"
Flynn, Woneda Sullivan and Charlotte Miller, all of Bedford, IN; and four
brothers: Sam Hughes of Arizona, Stanley Hughes of Brazil, IN, and Robert Ray
Hughes and Ollie Thomas Hughes, both of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in
death by his wife and two sisters: Carolyn Sue Chaney and Nancy Hughes.
He retired from McMillen Mill of Indiana Limestone Co., after having worked at
several area limestone companies. He attended First Assembly of God Church and
the Friendly Bible Church, both of Bedford.
Services for George Hughes will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 28th, at
Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Hughes officiating. Burial will
follow in Erie Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at
Ferguson-Lee funeral home.
Mills - Ruth A. Mills of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at Mitchell Manor. Born on September 30, 1918, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Melvin and Ester (Sowders) Bagwell. She married Dewey Winford Mills on July 13, 1935, and he died on October 8, 1958.
Surviving are one son, Sam Mills and his wife, Marie of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Rita Mills Flynn of Bedford, IN, and Doris Morrow and her husband, Harvey of Muncie, IN; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Dewey, Jr. (Bud) Mills and Robert Howard Mills; three sisters: Dorothy Clements, Ethel Wampler and Helen Brown; three brothers: Onis, Ivan and Jim Bagwell and one grandchild, Deborah Mills.
She was a homemaker and farmer. She attended the Grace United Methodist Church and was a member of the Limestone Walking Club.
There will be graveside services for Ruth Mills at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 27th at Pinhook Cemetery with Bro. Tom East officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Robbins - Alexander James Maurice Robbins, 3 months, of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born May 10, 2004, in Orange County, IN, he was the infant son of Jonathan and Kisha (Smith) Robbins.
Surviving are his parents,
Jonathan and Kisha Robbins of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Jeremy Cooper, at home;
paternal grandparents, Daniel and Anita Robbins of Mitchell, IN; maternal
grandparents, James and Leanne Smith of Salem, IN; paternal great-grandparents,
John and Kay Silverthorn of Mitchell, IN; paternal great-grandmother, Janet
Brown of English, IN; maternal great-grandparents, Terry and Virginia Embry of
Salem, IN; paternal great-great-grandmother, Doris Reynolds of Orleans, IN; and
maternal great-great-grandmother, Mary Dillman of Brownstown, IN.
He attended Liberty Christian Church of Orleans with his parents.

Saturday, August 28th, at Liberty Christian Church Cemetery in Orleans, with

Hackney - Edith Mae (Webb) Hackney of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at her residence. She was born in 1931. She married John G. Hackney, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are three daughters: Joy Zoelzer of Bedford, IN, Jeanne Shepherd of Columbus, IN, and Jody Flynn of Bloomington, IN; one son, Jon Mark Hackney of Little Rock, AR; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Leland Webb of Bedford, IN, and Carl Webb of Oolitic, IN.
She had been employed in the radiology department of Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford.
There were private graveside services for Edith Hackney at Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Arrangements were under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
Lynn - Lena Fern Lynn of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at White River Lodge. Born on May 7, 1917, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of E. Morton and Mary A. (Kindred) Holland. She married William "Bill" Lynn on December 22, 1938, in Lawrence County, IN, and he died on December 19, 1999.
Surviving are one nephew, Fred East and his wife
Connie, of Bedford, IN; five nieces: Moneta Bush and her husband, Robert,
of Clarksville, IN, Rosalie Brangers and her husband, Joe, of Louisville, KY,
Phyllis Elliott and Linda Runyon, both of Bedford, IN, and Martha Beeman of
Arizona; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her husband; one brother, Charles Holland; two sisters, Bertha East and Zoe
Rolston; and two nephews, Mike East and Charles Les Holland.
She had been employed as a clerk at JayC Stores.
Services for Lena Lynn will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 28th, at

Cureton - Eleanor Barbara Cureton of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born on April 11, 1915, in LaGrange County, IN, she was the daughter of Ray and Maude (Culver) Dickinson. She married Charles Frederick Cureton on June 8, 1940, and he died on January 30, 1990.
Surviving are one daughter, Candace B. Groh and
her husband, Gale, of Mitchell, IN; grandchildren, Meegan Eubacher and her
husband, Jon, of Coatesville, IN, and Brandon Groh and his wife, Jenny, of
Norman, OK.; one great-grandson, James Eubacher; one brother, Lewis Dickinson of
Wolcottville, IN; and one sister, Lucille Skinner of LaGrange. She was
preceded in death by her husband.
She graduated from Wolcottville High School in 1933 and was a 1935 graduate of
Methodist School of Nursing in Fort Wayne. She worked at the Irene Byron
Sanitarium and was an employee of EconoMart in Wolcottville prior to moving to
Mitchell in 1979. She was a member of Jacob Finger United Methodist Church.
Services for Eleanor Cureton will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 26th, in the
Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Margaret Pruden
officiating. Entombment will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Friends

Sears - Donald Lee Sears of Bedford, IN, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at his residence. Born on June 10, 1936, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Wayne and Margerie (Mollatt) Sears. He married Dora Hopper and she survives.

Donald Sears and his wife, Lori, of Bloomington, IN, and Dennis Sears of New
York; stepchildren, Rebecca Mitchell and her husband, Woody, of Indianapolis,
and Dwight Warren of Bloomfield, IN; brothers, Gerald Dean Sears of Leesville,
IN, and Mike Sears and his wife ,Clara, of Medora, IN; two sisters, Geneva
Underwood of Shoals. IN, and Mary Abner and her husband, David, of Norman, IN;
four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by his parents and his first wife, Nancy Sears.
He was a truck driver for Yellow Freight in Indianapolis.
Services for Donald Sears will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 26th, at
Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Todd - Terry L. Todd of Heltonville, IN, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at his residence. Born on June 11, 1948, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Harry and Helen (Lee) Todd. He married Cinda Wade, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are stepchildren: Monica
Drumb and her husband, Dave, Maria Foddrill and her husband, Shannon, Wade
Miller and his wife, Debbie, all of Heltonville, IN, and David Bailey and his
wife, Shirley, of Bedford, IN; his mother, Helen Todd; and one sister, Treva
Moore, both of Bedford, IN; two brothers: Toby Todd and his wife, Debbie ,and
Tony Todd and his wife, Sherry, all of Heltonville, IN; step-grandchildren:
Ashley, Kyle and Taylor Miller, Breanna and Joshua Patton, David, Daniel,
Leandrea and Todd Bailey and Lynnsie Foddrill; one step-great-granddaughter,
Madison Jean; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
his father, Harry Todd, in September, 1972; and by his first wife, Judy
(Nicholson) Todd in March, 1994.
He was a 1966 graduate of Heltonville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran,
served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired from General
Motors in 1997, and was a self-employed truck driver and farmer.
Services for Terry Todd will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 26th, at Jones
Funeral Home, with Brother Richard Chase officiating. Burial will follow
in Mundell Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to
Bloomington Hospice.

Hose - Lois Marie (Teters) Hose, 61, of Bedford, went to be with the Lord on August 22 in Indianapolis.
Born May 29, 1943, in Caldwell,
Ohio, she was the daughter of Doyle and Elizabeth Teeters. She married Kenneth
L. Hose of Bellaire, Ohio, on May 22, 1965 and he survives.
She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. She had worked at J.C. Penney
Store for 15 years. She had lived near Scotland for 11 years and volunteered at
the Bloomfield School.
She was very active in 4-H while she attended the Brookfield and Belle Valley
High School in Noble County, Ohio. She loved serving the Lord, reading the
Bible, cooking, hiking, photography and traveling. She enjoyed people,
especially children. She was outgoing, encouraging, caring and hospitable to
all.
Surviving with her husband, Kenneth Hose of Bedford, are one son, Stephen Hose
and his wife Lori of Springville; her mother, Elizabeth Teeters of Caldwell,
Ohio; two sisters: Violet Elaine Anderson and her husband Clyde of Oak Island,
N.C., and Helen Roberta Maxwell and her husband William of Zanesville, Ohio; one
niece and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and one son, Dennis L. Hose.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, from the Elmwood
Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary of Bedford, with Brother David Ferry and
Brother Kenny Roberson officiating. A graveside committal service will be
conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, at Ragan's Chapel Cemetery in
Hoskinsville, Ohio, with Brother Kenny Roberson officiating. Friends may call
from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Grace - Kenneth Gene Grace of Orleans, IN, died Friday, August 20, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on April 10, 1939, in Dryden, VA., he was the son of Roy and Lola (Babbs) Grace. He married Marilyn Rose Taylor on July 30, 1959, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Richard
Eugene Grace and Ken Leon Grace, both of Orleans, IN; one daughter, Shelly Renee
Grace-Johnson of Orleans, IN; three brothers: James W. Grace of Mitchell, IN,
Glenn Grace of Saltillo, IN, and Marshall Grace of Pennington Gap, VA; seven
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
his parents; one sister, Shirley Burgin; and three brothers, Roy Grace Jr. and
two in infancy.
He was a former employee of Indiana Limestone Company and a veteran of the U.S.
Army. He was a member of Cornerstone Ministries Church of God and the
Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 of Mitchell.
Services for Kenneth Grace will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, August 23rd, at the
Living Waters Church of God of Mitchell, with the Rev. A. Jay Bennett
officiating. Burial will follow in Tunnelton Cemetery with graveside military
rites accorded by members of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and
Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from
2-8 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Ministries Church of God in Orleans, and from 10
a.m. until the service time Monday at Living Waters Church of God in Mitchell.

Mundy - (Orpha) Christine Burton Mundy of Bedford, IN, died Friday, August 20, 2004, at her home. Born on November 10, 1910, in Orange County, IN, near Orangeville, she was the daughter of Samuel O. and Lena A. (Burton) Burton. She was a descendant of John Pleasant Burton, an early settler of Lawrence County. She married Raymond Mundy on September 10, 1932, and he died in 1998, after 65 years of marriage.
Surviving are seven children: Eleanor J. and L. Joyce Mundy, both of Bedford, IN, Stanley H. of Casper, WY, Graydon and Gordon of Bedford, IN, Gary L. of Mitchell, IN, and Martin E. of Williams, IN; nine grandchildren: Stan Lee Mundy of Evansville, WY, Kent W. Mundy of Casper, WY, Troy D. Mundy of Bedford and Jerrie Sailor Schofield, both of Bedford, IN, Justin C. Mundy of Mitchell, IN, Nathan L. Mundy and Owen C. Mundy, both of Bloomington, IN, Reed E. Mundy of Williams, IN, and Sara Christine Mundy of Bloomington, IN; eight great-grandchildren: Crystal, Zachary, Skylar, and Lacy Schofield of Bedford, IN, Kerstin, Keaton, and Klarissa Mundy of Evansville, WY, and Mahala Mundy of Bloomington, IN; daughters-in-law: Jean, Barbara, Dolores, and Becky; granddaughters-in-law, Veronica and Rasma; two brothers, Milton Burton of Chino Valley, AZ, and Nelson Burton of New Concord, KY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Edna Ruth Jaynes; and two brothers, Philip and Morris Burton.
She attended Ashery, a one room school in her
neighborhood, and graduated from Orleans High School with the class of 1928. She
graduated from Ball State Teacher's College, and taught elementary grades at
Williams, Huron, Trinity Springs, Shoals, Leipsic, and Mitchell. She was a
member of the Huron Baptist Church, a member and past president of the WTK Club
of Huron, and a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association.
Services for Christine Mundy will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 23rd, in the
Huron Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will
follow in Clark Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at
Chastain Funeral Home and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time Monday at the
church.
Wagner - Edward Glen "Eddie" Wagner of Columbus, GA., formerly of Bedford, IN, died Friday, August 20, 2004, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Columbus, GA. Born on July 16, 1945, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Lois Maxine Pruett.
Surviving are one daughter, Betty Wagner of
Bedford, IN; one son, Ed Wagner of Bedford, IN; two grandchildren: Darian and
Dakkota; his companion, Chang "Sukie" Wang; four brothers: Howard and Randy
Pruett, Ronnie Wagner and Bobby McGill; and two sisters: Jean Beavers and Jyle
Mohler. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Edna
Spicer.
He was a retired truck driver for Dolly Madison Bakery; and he was a veteran of
the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 27th, at Beech
Grove Cemetery in Bedford. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service time
Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Graveside military rites will be accorded
by members of Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion.

Jackson - Cloyce Jackson of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Bedford, IN, and Seymour, IN, died suddenly on Wednesday, August 18, 2004, in Tampa, Fla. Born May 26, 1931, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Sherman and Frowe (Duke) Jackson. He married Helen Embree on May 21, 1950, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Dianna
of Tampa, FL., and Denise of Lutz, FL; five grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; three brothers: Gary Jackson of Bedford, IN, Wilford
Jackson of Oolitic, IN, and Emery Dean Jackson and his wife, Ollie, of
Columbus, IN; and four sisters: Dora B. Knight of Needmore, IN, Myra Shipman of
Bedford, IN, Jewell Sweeney and her husband, David, of Salem, IN, and Gloria Ann
Kruchten and her husband, Albert, of Columbus, IN. He was preceded in
death by one brother, Tunis Paul Jackson; and his parents.
He was the assistant director for the Bedford Boys Club in the early 1950s. He
then became the assistant director for the Seymour Boys club. He was the unit
director of Ybor City Boys Club of Tampa, FL., and later the assistant director
of the Miami, FL, Boys Club. Most recently, he was the courier for the Lutz
School System in Tampa, FL. He was a member of the Boys Club Professional
Association and he was of the Church of Christ Faith.
Services for Cloyce Jackson will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 23rd, at the Day

Burks - Dorothy Alice Riggle Burks of Bedford, IN, died Monday, August 16, 2004, at the Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on January 2, 1922, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Harry O. and Mattie (Beck) Riggle. She married James M. Burks on April 8, 1942, and he died on October 9, 1997.
Surviving are one daughter, Ann Baker of Bedford,
IN; one son, John Burks of Galveston, IN; two sisters, Helen Mahorney of
Seymour, IN, and Velma Thomas of North Vernon, IN; one brother, Ray Riggle of
Port St. Lucie, FL; three grandchildren, Michael Baker of North Vernon, IN,
Kelly Sage of Orleans, IN, and Karen Burks of Fishers, IN; two
great-grandchildren, Danielle and Hannah Sage, both of Orleans, IN; and several
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband;
two brothers, Charles Thomas Riggle, in infancy and Walter Riggle; one sister,
Mary Becker; and one grandson, Mark Baker.
She worked as a retail cashier for Loudens/Scot Lad Grocery for 25 years.
Services for Dorothy Burks will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 20th, at

Gollinger - Margaret Rose Gollinger of Mitchell, IN, formerly of Massena, NY, died Monday, August 16, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born November 28, 1930, in Norwood, NY, she was the daughter of George and Louise (Narrow) Gollinger. After her father passed away, she was raised by her mother and step-father, Robert Davis. She married Joseph Francis Aldona Meyre August 15, 1948, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one son, Robert F.
Meyre; three daughters: Deborah (Meyre) Deon and husband, Clyde, of
Mitchell, IN, Betty A. (Meyre) Fillmore and husband, Thomas, of Sodus, NY, and
Tina L. (Meyre) Delisle and husband, Timothy, Louisville, NY; four brothers,
Francis Gollinger, Massena, NY, Carroll Davis of New York, Bernard Davis of
Malone, NY, and John Davis of Massena, NY; two sisters, Nora Davis of Massena,
NY, and
Mary Davis of Winthroy, NY; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David L. Meyre, twin brother
of Deborah Deon; brother, Bill Davis; and sisters, Betty Gollinger and Evalyn
Gollinger.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Mitchell
Senior Citizens.
A Funeral Mass for Margaret Gollinger will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday,
August 19th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Bernie Cox officiating.
The body will be cremated following the service. Friends may call from
5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, with scripture service at 7:00 p.m. in the Memorial

Jones - Jennie Rose Jones of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, August 16, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born February 21, 1922, in Orange County, IN, she was the daughter of Lester and Fannie Mae (Sears) Trinkle. She married John E. Jones October 12, 1940, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are three sons: Darwin
Lee Jones and wife, Donna, of Linton, IN, Randal Jones and wife, Sherry, of
Mitchell, IN, and Ken Jones and wife, Brenda, of Sellersburg, IN; three sisters:
Dorothy Langford of Vincennes, IN, Marjorie Moore and Helen Crouch, both of
Bedford, IN; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her parents
preceded her in death.
She was a 1940 graduate of Orleans High School. She worked for many years at
Mitchell City Drug Store and Mitchell Community Schools. She was a member of
Jacob Finger United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Russell - Oscar Eugene Russell of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004,at his residence. Born December 9, 1929, in Orange County, IN, he was the son of Paul and Ida Mae (Moffatt) Russell. He married Mary Alice Greene May 2, 1953, and she survives.

Russell, Orleans, IN; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Russell of Mitchell, IN,
Marcella Elliott, Bedford, IN, and Donna Bruns of Arizona, who was raised in the
home; two sisters, Catherine Compton of Gary, IN, and Ruth Burlington of
Orleans, IN; one brother, William Russell of Loogootee; 6 grandchildren, 1 great
grandchild; and close friends: Kenneth Brinkworth, Warren King, and Henry
Osborne. His parents preceded him in death.
He was a retired employee of Roberts Brass and Carpenter Body Works. He was a
member of the Bride of Christ Fellowship.

Cooper - Adina “Dina” Cooper of Phoenix, AZ, died Sunday, August 15, 2004, in Scottsdale, AZ. Born June 28, 1951, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Perry and Annabelle Jenkins. She married Ronald Cooper on July 29, 1989, in Leitchfield Park, AZ, and he survives.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald of Phoenix, AZ; her parents; one brother, Christopher Jenkins; several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by one brother, Jeffrey Scott Jenkins.
She was a salesperson at the Old Clock Shop in Phoenix, AZ. She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1968.

Sego - Floyd E. Sego of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, August 15, 2004, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on September 6, 1923, in Grayson County, KY, he was the son of Ben and Grace (Powell) Sego. He married Dorothy Wilson on June 10, 1972, and she survives. He was a machine operator for NWSC Crane.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Donetta Eads of Bedford, IN; two sons, Ed Sego of Dover, DE, and Ernie Sego of Oklahoma City, OK; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chestine and Carlos Sego of Kentucky; two step-sons, Danny and David Bridges both of Bedford, IN; four step-daughters, Brenda Corey of Bedford, IN, Becky True of Indianapolis, Sheila Storie of Oklahoma, and Theresa Bridges of Ohio. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Butler and Ulla Fualkerson; four brothers, Elzie, Alvie,Charlie and Orval Sego.

Lake - Ruth Esther (Jackson) Lake of Bedford, IN, died Friday, August 13, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born February 22, 1914 in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Elza and Bertha M. (Fish) Jackson. She married Andrew H. Lake on September 17, 1932, and he died December 17, 1982.
Surviving are one daughter, Phyllis Ann Wise of Kokomo, IN; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Bedford.
There will be graveside services for Ruth Lake at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, August 17th, at Green Hill Cemetery with Pat Blyeth officiating. No calling hours are scheduled. Morris - Harry Morris of Bedford, IN, died Friday, August 13, 2004, at his residence. Born February 6, 1947, in Tulsa, OK, he was the son of Herman and Margaret (Cox) Morris.
Surviving are one son, Damon Morris of Texas; one brother, Harold Morris of Texas; one half-sister, Darlene Griffith of California; his former wife, Sue Murphy and her children, Scott, Kenny and Jackie Murphy and her niece, Kimberly Watson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Herman Morris.
He was a veteran and served honorably in the Vietnam War earning the National Defense Service Medal as an expert rifleman. He was honorably discharged in 1970. Following his military career, he was an electrical engineer working for several large utility companies including PSI and Gilberts Electrical. He was also employed as a dispatcher for the Lawrence County Sheriffs Dept. in the late 80s. He was a volunteer for the V.A. Medical Center. He had been ill for several years and was loved and cared for by his former wife, Sue Murphy. He was a member of East Oolitic Church.

Pipher - James Ermal "Fuzz" Pipher of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, August 13, 2004, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born February 22, 1924, in Cale, IN, he was the son of James Roy and Hazel (Taylor) Pipher. He married Barbara J. Shipman January 6, 1956, and she died on July 13, 2001.
Surviving are three daughters: Sandra L.
Neal and husband, John, of Orleans, IN, Lana J. Woods and husband, Dennis,
Indianapolis, and Janis Kay Sherfick, Myrtle Beach, SC; three sisters:
Beulah Lema and husband, Leo, Bedford, IN, Sue Bevill and husband, Norris, and
Betty Echols, all of Niles, MI; three grandchildren, Mitchell J. Neal, Anna C.
Neal, and Eric P. Woods, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great
nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korean War, retiring in 1969
after serving 30 years in the European-African, Asiatic-Pacific, American,
China, and Korean areas and receiving a good conduct medal. He was a member of
Shoals American Legion Post No. 61 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post No. 9107. Following his military career, he worked at Crane Naval
Weapons and Support Center from which he retired. He was a graduate of Trinity
Springs High School and was a member of White River Masonic Lodge No. 332
F.&A.M., Order of Kentucky Colonels, and American Association of Retired
Persons.

Elliott - Mildred Kathleen Elliott of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on March 26, 1925, in Marengo, IN, she was the daughter of Charles and Clara (Sprinkle) Roby. She married William Edward Elliott on December 4, 1941, and he died on December 31, 1987.

Oolitic, IN, and Charles Lloyd Elliott and his wife Darlene of Pennsylvania;
four daughters: Sharon Kay Lawyer of Montana, Brenda Faye Cheek and her husband
Dale of Monticello, IN, Joyce Maraye Gibson of Oolitic, IN, and Rita Ann Elliott
of Bedford, IN; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; one son, James Steven Elliott; one daughter, Virginia Mae Terry; one
sister, Fern Williams; two brothers: Earl and James Roby; one granddaughter,
Donna Bagwell; and one grandson, Nathaniel Elliott.

Grissom - Norman E. "Gene" Grissom of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born August 12, 1927, in Mitchell, he was the son of Lavere and Mary Francis (Grissom) Terrell. He married Nova Belle Alvey and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Susan Berk of Mitchell, IN; three sons, Jeff L. Grissom and Michael E. Grissom, both of Mitchell, IN, and Gary W. Grissom of West Baden Springs, IN; two sisters; and three brothers. His mother and one son preceded him in death.
He was a retired truck driver;
and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a medic during World War
II.
There will be graveside services for Norman Grissom at 1 p.m. Friday, August
13th, at Bonds Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Chastain Funeral Home.

Morrel R. Bartley of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at Dunn
Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born on August 18, 1916, in Bedford, IN, he
was the son of Ernest and Mayme (Ash) Bartley. He married Lois Cole and she
preceded him in death. He later married Doris Craig and she also preceded him in
death.
Surviving are one daughter, Nancy Alexander of Blue Springs, MO.; one grandson,
Michael Alexander; one stepdaughter, Terri Miller of Bedford, IN; two stepsons,
Mike and Pat Craig, both of Mitchell, IN; four step-grandchildren, Brandon and
Brian Miller and Matthew and Dusty Craig; and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both wives; two brothers, Morris and Glen Bartley;
and one sister, Elizabeth.
He retired from Naval Surface Warfare
Center-Crane as a warehouseman and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having
received a Purple Heart during World War II. He was a member of Gillen Post No.
33, American Legion, of Bedford. He was of the Protestant Faith.

Craig - Michael Don Craig of Needmore, IN, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at his residence. Born on March 29, 1948, in Needmore, IN, at the home of his Grandparents (Gyger), he was the son of Donald Keith and Mary Esther (Gyger) Craig. He married Martha Jeanne Holtsclaw on November 26, 1966 at the Avoca Baptist Church, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are his parents; one daughter, Sherry Jean Scherschel and her husband, Eric of Needmore, IN; two sons, Kevin Earl Craig and his wife, Heather of Fayetteville, IN, and Jason Lee Craig and his wife Jessica of Springville, IN; four grandsons, Travin and Wade Craig, Garrett and Gavin Scherschel; two granddaughters, Martha Craig and Michaella Scherschel; one brother, the Rev. Ron Craig and his wife, Leesa; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Forrest and Zona Craig and his maternal grandparents, Findley and Hattie Gyger.
He retired on June 3, 2003 from NSWC Crane as the Ammunition Logistics Support Branch Manager after thirty-seven years of service. He also had partnership in Triple C Farm with his father for twenty-nine years. He taught Sunday School for thirty-seven years and served as Deacon for thirty years at both Gulletts Creek and Avoca Baptist Churches. He was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church.

McCoy - Fay A. McCoy of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at the Hospitality House. Born on November 1, 1907, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of James Wilson and Addie (Guthrie) Anderson. She married James Paul Child on July 24, 1926, and he died July 14, 1970. She later married Ernest J. McCoy on June 27, 1975 and he died on February 18, 1989.
Surviving are one son, Edward Child of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Annalou McCune of Bedford, IN; one sister, Hazel Irene Kellams of Franklin, IN. She was preceded in death by both husbands; two brothers, Wayne Anderson and Ray Anderson who was her twin.
She retired from the Lawrence County Court House where she had worked in several offices. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority.
Services for Fay McCoy will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 14th, the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Curtis Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Verbocht - Jacobus “Jack” C.L.A. Verbocht of Bedford, IN, died Friday, August 6, 2004, at the StoneBridge Health Campus. Born on March 25, 1951, in Roosendaal, Netherlands, he was the son of Cornelis Verbocht and Jacoba Verbocht-Nuijten. He married Rita Maddox on November 15, 1985 and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are three sons: Robert “Bobby” Verbocht, David Verbocht and Andrew Verbocht all at home; three brothers: Harry, Geert and Andre’ Verbocht all of the Netherlands; two sisters: An Verbocht and Riet Verbocht-Matijssen of the Netherlands; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a mechanical engineer for Sterling Fluids in Indianapolis and a member of the Valley Mission Church.

Hudson - Reuger Parker Hudson of Springville, IN, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born on March 27, 1917, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of William Thomas and Ida (Parker) Hudson. He married Eva Mae Jackson on February 22, 1941, and she preceded him in death on February 23, 1992.
Surviving are one brother,
Theodore "Ted" Hudson of Bedford; several nieces and nephews; and several
great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; four
brothers: Dan, Charles, W. George and Harry Hudson; and four sisters: Algie
Hudson (in infancy), Fern Henderson, Ruby Umphress and Gertie Roberts.
Following his retirement as a manager for A.D.M. Company in Colorado, he was a
caretaker of the La-Or-Ma Shrine Club of Bedford. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army Air Force, having served with the 8th and 9th Divisions during World War
II. He was a life-time member of Bethel Christian Church of Greene County;
and a member of American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 of Bedford.

Fleetwood - Rosella (Greer) Stannard Fleetwood of Bedford, IN, formerly of Springville, IN, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004,at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on October 3, 1912, in Bryantsville, IN, she was the daughter of Solomon and Minnie (Burton) Greer. She married Vilas "Buck" Stannard on September 10, 1929, and he died on March 16, 1963. She then married Carl Fleetwood and he died in 1982.
Surviving are one daughter, Karen Sue Lake and
her husband, Larry, of Fayetteville, IN; two sons: Joseph H. Stannard of
Bloomington, IN, and Rex Wayne Stannard of Allons, TN.; six grandchildren, 15
great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by one brother, Richard Greer; and two sisters: Della Neely Blake and
Lorene Banks.
She was a member of the Owensburg Baptist Church; was an avid gardener and
former member of Ladies Aide. She was retired from RCA in Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank Brown (son) in 1993 and one great grandchild, also four sisters; Sylvia Winegar, Goldie Yost, Ora Collins, and Pearl Stafford, and two brothers; Edmond and Lloyd Flinn.
She was retired from Extruded Alloys and had previously worked for Travelers in Bedford. She was a member of the Pinhook Church of Christ.

Dodd - Frances (Voigtschild) Dodd of Louisville, KY, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville after a fall at her home. Born on May 5, 1912, in Harrodsburg, IN, she was the daughter of Robert and Cora Voigtschild. She married James Dodd and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are six nieces and nephews: Robert
Voigtschild, Louise V. Perry and Jerry Voigtschild, all of Bloomington, IN,
Evelyn V. Lakes of Indianapolis, Patricia A. Ernst (with whom she lived) of
Louisville, KY., and Jack Voigtschild of Bedford, IN; several great nieces and
nephews; one cousin, Willard Voigtschild of Oshkosh, WI.; her private duty
nurse, Avis M. Vaughn; and other caregivers, all of whom provided Frances with
wonderful care and love in her final years. She was preceded in death by
her husband, James Dodd; two brothers: Lawrence Voigtschild and Jack Voigtschild;
and one sister, Mary Voigtschild Ernst.
She was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Bedford and the Redeemer
Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI. She had worked for 45 years in the office of
W.F. Meyers and Company in Bedford.

Scott - Danen Charles Scott of Bedford, IN, died on Sunday, August 1, 2004, at his residence. Born on May 5, 1980, in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of Howard and Sherri (Priddy) Scott.

He was a student at Indiana University and a 1998 graduate of Bedford North
Lawrence High School, where he was a member of the academic team for all four
years. He attended Purdue University and had a degree in biology and chemistry

Hornocker - Delores "Jo" (Richards) Hornocker of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on April 27, 1931, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Robert G. and Mary L. (Brock) Richards. She married Harold E. Hornocker on September 21, 1951, and he died April 16, 1989.
Surviving are one daughter, Julanna Hornocker of
Bedford, IN; one son, Richard Hornocker of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Betty Jean
Wagner and Virginia Concannon, both of Bedford, IN; and two brothers, John
Richards of Mitchell, IN, and Jim Richards of Indianapolis; and several nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Jane
Hall; and one brother, Glen Richards.
She worked at the Bedford Regional Medical Center and was a homemaker. She
attended the First Baptist Church, was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority,
and was part of the Dunn Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Lyle - Martha Lyle of Watervliet, MI, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died July 29, 2004, at Countryside Nursing Home in South Haven, MI. Born on September 19, 1925, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Clyde and Maude (Collier) Smith.
Surviving are one son, Dave Lyle of Holland, MI; one daughter, Debra Williams of Ottawa, KS; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in Death by one son, Dee Lyle.

Brock - Tammy J. Brock of Crothersville, IN, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in Seymour, IN. Born February 10, 1958 in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Thomas Junior and Opal Polly (Morrison) Ryan. She married Jim Brock on July 29, 2002 and he survives.
Surviving with her husband, Jim are three daughters, Jennifer Steele and Jamie Williams both of Seymour and Stacy Brock of Scottsburg; two sons, Michael Brock of Hope, IN and Jimmy Brock of Scottsburg, IN; father and step-mother, Thomas Junior Ryan and Brenda Ryan of Bedford; one granddaughter, Shaelynn Williams of Seymour, IN; three brothers, Danny Ryan and his wife, Jami of Bedford, Tim Ryan and his wife, Michelle of New Hampshire and Lawrence Ryan and his wife, Monica of Shoals; three sisters, Karen James of Mitchell, Janice Lewis and Becky Sears both of Bedford; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Ryan.
She was a homemaker and former owner of T.J.’s Merle Norman in Seymour for several years. She attended Bethany Baptist Church.

Axom - Kenneth Axsom of Norman, IN, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the home of his son in Norman. Born September 25, 1921 in Brown County, IN, he was the son of Eathel and Elsie (Croucher) Axsom. He married Geneva Mae Davis on April 27, 1943 and she died April 4, 2000.
Surviving are one son, Steve Axsom and his wife, Ginger of Norman, IN; one daughter, Linda Kelley and her husband, Doug of Springville, IN; three brothers, Kelsie and Delmar Axsom both of Norman, IN and Harold K. Axsom of Bloomington, IN; two sisters, Loberta Fleetwood of Bedford and Loretta Fields of Paris Crossing, IN; three grandchildren, Karen Adams and her husband, Mark, Jeff Kelley and his wife, Della and Darrick Kelley and his wife, Laura; six great grandchildren, Sarah, Conner, Hollie, Austin, Brianna and Camden. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one great grandchild (in infancy).
He retired as a stone mill worker in Lawrence County in 1986 and a veteran of WW II serving with the 11th Army Division. He was a member of the Freetown Pentecostal Church and the American Legion Post #112 of Brownstown.

Born August 6, 1935, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of John R. and Mabel (Beasley) Smith. She married William Henry Haws on April 10, 1970, and he died on July 25, 1988.

Allen - Paul Allen of Muncie, IN, formerly of Bloomington and Bedford, IN, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on March 2, 1921, in Martin County, IN, he was the son of John T. and Ola (Bays) Allen. He married Marjorie L. Clements on July 25, 1942 and she died December 28, 1993. He married C. Susan Glick on June 19, 2004 and she survives.
Survivors with his wife are one son, Paul David Allen of Muncie, IN; four brothers, Carl Allen of Bloomfield, IN, Robert Allen of Owensburg, IN, John Allen of Bloomfield, IN, and James Allen of Odon, IN; one sister, Nellie Boling of Odon, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and two sisters, Helen Leukhardt and Mabel Allen.
He retired from NWSC CRANE in 1974 and from North Lawrence School Corp. in 1988. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bedford and the Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army Rangers.

Allen - John E. Allen of Laurel, IN, formerly of Tunnelton, IN, died Sunday, July 18, at his residence. Born September 23, 1924, in Tunnelton, IN, he was one of six children of Oliver Perry and Julia Ann (Wilcox) Allen. He married Wilma Jean Blackwell, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters: Dana
Johnson of Laurel, Donna Holcomb of Metamora and Debra McIntosh of Indianapolis;
two sons: Dale Allen and his wife Myrna of Laurel and Doug Allen and his wife
Kim of Metamora; one sister, Virginia "Boots" Barrett of Florida; 10
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, David; two brothers; and two sisters.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1943 to 1946 in the
European Theater of World War II. He had been employed by Rex Manufacturing and
its successors, Philco and Ford, in Connersville, retiring in 1979.

Thralls - Allen Jay Thralls of Casa Grande, AZ, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at his residence. Born on February 26, 1957, in Washington County, IN, he was the son of Charles L. and Barbara R. (Westfall) Thralls.

Weldon - Jacob Max Weldon of Bedford, IN, formerly of Malvern, AR, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at his residence. Born December 31, 1921, in Blackhawk, MS, he was the son of Jacob Lon and Bertha Irene (Tate) Weldon. He married Becky Baughman in 1952 and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Kay Weldon of Bedford; one sister, Louise Counts of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Weldon in 1977; four sisters: Anna Mae Phelps, Emmie Gentry, Edna Smith and Mable Harvey; and three brothers: Roy Weldon, J.L. Weldon and James Henry Weldon.
He retired from GM Powertrain of
Bedford in January 01980, after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the
U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He was a member of the First
Assembly of God Church of Bedford, where he served as usher and greeter, and
drove the church van for 10 years. He was a member of U.A.W. Local No. 440 of
Bedford.

Assembly of God Church of Bedford, with Pastor John Dodd and Pastor Glenn Duncan

Carr-Kenney - Nancy L. Carr-Kenney of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on September 25,5 1941, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Riley and Neva C. (Pemberton) Lawson. She first married Fred Hackney. She next married David Carr on October 28,1966, and he died November 8, 1991. She next married Jerry L. Kenney on April 7, 19999, and he died March 17, 2004.
Surviving are two sons: Brian Hackney of Orleans, IN, and David Carr of Mitchell, IN; one daughter, Lynn Carr of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Ronald Lawson of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Kathy Wilkerson of Mitchell, IN; two step-sons, Greg Kenney of California and Devin Kenney of Williams, IN; two step-daughters, Angie Wolcott and Shauna Kenney, both of Mitchell, IN; two granddaughters, Dusty Kay Austin or Orleans, IN, and Rebecca Hackney-Sweet of Paoli, IN.
She was employed at Dana Corporation in Mitchell. She was a charter member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsman's Club Auxiliary, the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post 250 Auxiliary, the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post 250 Auxiliary and the Marvin R. Davis V.F.W. Post 9107 Auxiliary.

Price - Tom Price of Springville, IN, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Born September 11, 1965, he was the son of Thomas and Janice (Seals) Price.
Surviving are his life partner, Michelle Clark of Springville, IN; one daughter, Kaelie Price; two sons, Bradley Price and Landon Clark all at home. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward and Donnie Price.

Kirkman - Barbara Ann Kirkman of San Diego, CA, died on July 14, 2004, in San Diego. Born January 20, 1936 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Joseph Martin, an immigrant from Saint Miguels, The Azores, Portugal, and Margaret (Flynn) Martin, an immigrant from Ireland. She was the seventh of ten children, with six sisters and three brothers. Raised in Fall River, Massachusetts, she married Earl Laverne (Jack) Kirkman, of Lawrence County, IN, in May 1957. and he died in 1987.
Surviving are three sons, Charles Kirkman, Joseph Kirkman, and John Kirkman of Bedford, IN; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Dalton of San Diego, CA, Mrs. Joseph (Karen) Parker of Vienna, GA, and Mrs. Michael (Carla) Hudson of Norman, OK; fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Kurtis, in September 1980; and three brothers and three sisters.

Moffitt - William Floyd Moffitt of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, July 14, 2004. Born on July 12, 1926, in Achille, OK, he was the son of Huell L. and Florence Lillian (Coble) Moffitt. He married Edna Roy fifty-four years ago, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Barbara Kay Smith and her husband, Wayne, Donna Gay Hignite-Moffitt and Jerry Hignite and Beverly Sue Moffitt; grandchildren, Erica Dawn Mitchell and her husband, Brent, Bobbi Jeanette Cummings, Autumn Renee Langley, Adam Mitchell Dawson and Amanda Rochelle Smith; step-grandchildren, Ryan, Evan, Aidan and Breanna Smith; great grandchildren, Samara Unity Lenning, Alexis Jade Mitchell, William Elijah Romello Langley, Kaylee Ryan Smith, Jackson Dakota Smith and Cannon Cade Parrish Smith; sisters, Vivian Richardson, Vera Thomas and Jewell Fay Holt; brother, Huell Ray Moffitt; step-brother, Roy Loyd and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Esther Porter, Imogene Swafford and Betty Ray Moffitt (at birth); step brothers, Alan Loyd and Cecil King and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was employed as a foreman at Robert’s Brass of Mitchell for 25 years and retired as a toolmaker from E & M Tool Co. of Bedford in 1993. He was also employed for many years by the East 50 drive-in, the Indiana Theater and as manager of the Bedford drive-in. He served in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of Corporal. He was a member of the Cecil Martin Post #250 American Legion in Mitchell for 33 years and the Disabled American Veterans. He was of the Methodist denomination.
Services for William Moffitt will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 18th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor A. Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with graveside military rites accorded by members of the Cecil Martin Post #250 American Legion.. Payton - Wade L. Payton of Bloomington, IN, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at White River Lodge in Bedford. Born on December 21, 1937, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Hubert and Dovie (Wade) Payton. He married Phyllis George and she survives.
Surviving with his wife, Phyllis of Bedford are four daughters; six granddaughters and one great grandson.
He was retired from G.E. in Bloomington and was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army. He was of the Nazarene faith.

Howard - Joe Howard of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Westview Nursing and Rehab Center. Born on May 24, 1946, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Leland Leonard and Mary Esther (Watson) Howard.

Mitchell, IN; one son, Joe Norman of Bloomington, IN; stepsons, Richard Young,
Bedford, IN, and Leland Ames of Paoli, IN; stepdaughter, Kimberly Ames of Paoli,
IN; and seven step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents
and a twin brother, William Howard.
He was a 1964 graduate of Mitchell High School and had been employed 26 years at
Carpenter Body Works before starting his own shop. He was a US Army veteran and
a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Jones - Warren Jones of Oolitic, IN, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at his residence. Born September 15, 1923 in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Harley and Bessie (Phillips) Jones. He married his childhood sweetheart, Rosemary Bush on December 11, 1943 and she survives.
Surviving with his wife, Rosemary are two daughters, Linda Dianne Inman of Bedford and Debra Susan Wisely of Bowling Green, KY; one son, Dennis Lee Jones of Oolitic; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three brothers, Doyle (Little Boy) Jones of Springville, Wayne and Raymond Jones both of Bedford; one sister, Ilene Burton of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dale (Big Boy) Jones and Reginald Hughes and one sister, Wyrtis Fitzgerald.
He was a retired tool and die maker at General Motors in Bedford and was a member of Oolitic Pentecostal Church.

Roach - Geneva Roach of Indianapolis, formerly of Bedford, IN, died on Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at her residence. Born on June 15, 1917, in Pulaski County, KY, she was the daughter of Charles and Lela May (Taylor) Maxwell. She married William Harley Roach on September 29, 1935, and he died on February 9, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Larry Gene Roach and his wife, Sharon of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, John R. Holmes, III, Elizabeth Elaine Holmes, David William Holmes, Cynthia Lee Walters and her husband, Ryan, Amanda Jean Cline and her husband, Charles and Alison Marie Hilton; four great grandchildren, Jacob Ryan Walters, Leah Kincaed Walters, Abby Lillian Cline and Lindsay Hope Cline; three sisters, Barbara Brinegar and Alma Gerbrik both of Indianapolis and Grace Sullivan of Bedford; one brother, Edgar Maxwell of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Sharon Holmes; four brothers, Arthur, Doyle “Hickory”, Dale E. and Clytus Howard Maxwell.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Free Methodist Church of Bedford. She was a Pink Lady Volunteer at Dunn Hospital and worked on the Red Cross Board for thirty years. She was a past president of the P.T.A. at Stalker Elementary School and Women’s Department Club and was a former director on the Bedford Boy’s Club board.

Miracle - Mayme R. Miracle of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at her residence. Born on August 10. 1908, in Letcher County, KY, she was the daughter of James Floyd and America (Boggs) Stamper. She married Henry Robert Miracle on April 30, 1932, and he died on January 6, 1999, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years.
Surviving are sons, C. R. Miracle and wife, Pat,
Robert Miracle and wife, Judy, all of Mitchell, IN; daughter, Phyllis Westfall
and husband, Oakleigh, of Bedford, IN; brother, Karl D. Stamper of Knoxville,
TN; 8 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by her husband of sixty-six years; brothers: Maynard, R. Bruce, Howard, Eugene,
and Edwin Stamper; and a sister, Mary Mildred McHenry.
She attended Eastern State Teachers College in Richmond, Kentucky, was a
graduate of Indiana University, and a member of Indiana Retired Teachers
Association. She was an elementary school teacher, and retired after 35 years. A
member of the First Baptist Church, she was an adult Sunday school teacher for
many years and enjoyed memorizing scripture. Her other interests included
decorating, antique collecting, and flowers.

Davis - Cornell D. Davis of Bedford, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at his residence. Born December 14, 1913 in Tompkinsville, KY, he was the son of Charles and Oma Rhoton (Davis).
Survivors include two sisters, Nelda and Dorcas Davis both of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anna Davis.
He was retired from RCA in Bloomington and was an active member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness. He was baptized in 1932.

Ellis - Helen M. Ellis of Bedford, IN, died Friday, July 9, 2004, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on July 25, 1920, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Lewis J. and Blanche (Sallee) Vaught. She married Laurence Ellis in December, 1940, and he died in October, 1972.
Survivors include two sons and
their wives, Eddie J. and Linda Ellis, and Don C. and Judy Ellis, all of
Mitchell; four daughters, Marilyn Tirey and her husband Don Tirey of Oolitic,
Katie Mullinax of Bedford, and Becky Pierce and her husband Ronnie Pierce, and
Sarah Sue and the late Terry McPherson, all of Mitchell; 33 grandchildren; 42
great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one step- brother,
Elbert Enochs of Pittsboro. In addition to her husband, she was preceded
in death by her parents; one son, Merrill Dean Ellis; one grandson; one
granddaughter; two brothers, Ed and Charles Vaught; one sister, Mary Tirey; and
one great-granddaughter.
She had been a nursing attendant at the Bedford Regional Medical Center and the
Madison State Hospital. She was a member of Oolitic Church of Christ and a
volunteer Yellow Jacket at Bedford Regional Medical Center.

Frances C. Cameron of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Bedford
Regional Medical Center. Born July 16, 1912, in Lawrence County, IN, she
was the daughter of Milford J. and Nellie M. (Tumey) McDonald. She married
Norman M. Cameron and he died in March of 1942.
Survivors include two sons: Richard M. Cameron Sr. and his wife Betty Ann of
Bedford and William R. Cameron and his wife Paula Gayle of Bloomington; two
grandchildren: Malissa Waterford and W. Eric Cameron; three step-grandchildren:
Bobby, Angel and Julie Fiscus; six great-grandchildren: Josh Cameron, Eerin
Whorton, John, Jessica and James Cameron and Lauren Waterford; three
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four grandchildren: Richard
Cameron Jr., Greg Cameron, Catherine Cameron and Trina Cameron; five sisters:
Juanita MacDonald, Katherine Sharp, Mildred Arena, Betty Jewell Hunter and

Survivors include one daughter, Carol Grace Taylor Scott and her husband, Ronald of Bloomington; two sons, Robert William McPike and his wife, Tina of Bedford and Leslie W. McPike and his wife, Anita of Ellettsville; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Alice Boyles of Bloomington. his residence. Born September 5, 1929, in Dyer County, TN., he was the son
of K.S. and Leota McKee. He married Ollie Joann Moody and she survives.

He was retired from the Budd Company in Gary, and
from the Bedford Public Library. He was an elder at the Lake Station Church of
Christ, and served as a deacon at Central Church of Christ in Bedford.

Dixon - Joanna S. Dixon of Bedford, IN, died at 2:10 am on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford, IN. Born February 26, 1925 in Lafayette, IN, she was the daughter of Cord Cox and Jennie (Holliday) Cox-Dodson. She married Robert Dixon May 31, 1946, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband of fifty-eight years, are one son, John Dixon and his wife, Darla of Bedford; two daughters, Susanne Denny and her husband, Mike of Easley, SC and Janie Boenig and her husband, Chuck of Mason, OH; five grandchildren, Melissa Rodriguez, Michael Denny, Jackie Boenig, Shera and Ryan Dixon; two great grandchildren, Alaina and Anthony Rodriguez; one sister, Irene Wood of Cicero; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Alice Pogue of Florida and Mid Parkhurst of Carmel; seven nieces and nephews, Marsha Fuson, Larry Cox, Bob Wood, Jan Wood, Joan Williamson, and Tom Dixon and Cindy McHale. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cord Cox and Jennie Dodson; her step-father, Lue Dodson and one brother, Robert Cox.

He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army.
Surviving with his wife, Phyllis of Bedford are five daughters, Rena Jackson, Lyn McPike, Lee Ann Flynn, Phyllis Jo Hanners and Penny Hutchens all of Bedford; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Donovan Thompson and Gary Brown; one sister, Imogene Thompson and one brother, Jimmy Thompson.
He was a self-employed contractor in Bedford and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He attended the Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene.

Sears - Dorothy Alice (Sears) Sherman of Benton, Ky., formerly of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, July 3, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. Born on June 29, 1911, in Bedford, she was the daughter of D. Erd and Maymie A. Jackson Sears. She married Franklin Sherman III on May 30, 1946, in Bedford and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1966.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Ruth Butler Sears of Bedford; nieces and nephews and their families, Reva Gail Swango and her husband Olin, Vivian Ritter and her husband Mark, Jeanne Silvers and Sandy Nasco, all of Bedford, Carol Simmons and her husband Jim of Anna, Ill., Donald K. Sears and his wife Dinah of Arlington Heights, Ill. and Joe Phillips of Ellettsville. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Kent A. Sears; one sister, Lois Pauline Sears; a niece, Ruth Evelyn Sears Phillips.
She entered nursing training at
City Hospital in Indianapolis in 1930. She worked as a nurse in Indianapolis and
Piqua, Ohio. In 1942, she began work as a Simplex printer and teletype operator.
Her primary responsibility was to process orders for Gibson Girl Parachutes to
be sent to the South Pacific fighting zone during World War II. She and her
husband also lived in East Lansing, Mich., where Mr. Sherman was a professor at
Michigan State University. They were the owners and operators of Tennessee Jones
Resort on Kentucky Lake. She attended the First Christian Church and
Fairdealing Church of Christ, both in Benton, Ky. She was a member of the New
Union Christian Church in Bedford since 1924. She was a life member of the Order
of the Eastern Star and a life member of the Pilgrims White Shrine of Jerusalem.
She was a former member of the Royal Neighbors of America, the Benton Woman's
Club and the Florida Art Club.

Surviving are four children: Nancy Baker of Bedford, IN, Kenneth Chaillaux and his wife, Joyce, Sharon Fox and her husband, Jerry, and Robert Chaillaux of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, one grandson, one sister, and two brothers.

Johnson - Keanna Lane Johnson, infant daughter of Lewis and Connie (Felton) Johnson, died Sunday, June 27, 2004, in Bedford, IN. She was born June 10, 2004 in Monroe County, IN.
Surviving are her parents of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Latosha, Shayla, and Sabrinalle Johnson, all at home; two brothers, Aaron and Dylan Johnson, at home; maternal grandparents, Clyde and Phillis Felton; paternal grandparents, Danny and Janet Bishop; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by one sister, Destinee Elaine Johnson, and her namesake and godfather, Jeff Lane.
Services for Keanna Johnson will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Owensburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Hunter - Everett L. Hunter of Norman, IN, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. He was born on June 25, 1933. He married Willabelle E. Brim and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two daughter, Darlene Atchison and Sharlene Smith, both of Norman, IN; and two sisters, Waneta Holland of Springville, IN, and Evelyn Dodds of Arcadia, FL.
He was a retired farmer, a former Lawrence County commissioner, and an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
Services for Everett Hunter will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 29th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Mundell Christian Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Robertson - Robert Lloyd Robinson of Switz City, IN, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, in the Greene County Hospital. Born on October 12, 1942, in Bloomington, IN, he was the son of Joseph Forrest Robinson and Helen Lorraine (McGriffin) Robinson. He married Gail Ann Hollowell on September 11, 1971 in Bedford, IN, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Lyssa Jo Pferrer of Lyons, IN; one brother, Thomas B. Robinson of Puyallup, WA; and five grandchildren: Ann Marie, William Robert, Patricia Lorraine, Joseph Richard, and Christina Joy. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a retired school bus driver and an Air Force veteran. He was member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as an Elder in the church.
Services for Robert Robinson will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 30th, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Jerome Gootee officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Abel - Summer Abel of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, June 25, 2004, in Columbus, IN. Born on May 14, 1977, she was the daughter of Ricky Dale and Susan Lynn (Watterson) King.
Surviving are one son, Dakota King of English, IN; her mother and step-father, Susan and Steve King of English, IN; grandparents: James and Sharon Watterson of Mitchell, IN, Joan Abel of Mitchell, step-grandmother, Emma Jean King of English, IN, great-grandparents Oren Brown of Salem, IN, and JGeorge and Vivian Watterson of Mitchell, IN. Her father preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ.

Cave - Carrie Lucille Cave, of Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Westview Manor. Born on June 24, 1922, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Roy and Ethel (Hicks) White. She married Gordon Spears, and he preceded her in death. She later married Joe Cave and he also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Anna Marie Bruhy and her husband, Fred, of Springville, IN; one son-in-law, Don Condon; two grandchildren, Jared Robert Condon and his fiance, Tara Terrell, and Ashley Carajean Condon and her companion, Jason Baker; four great-grandchildren: David, Quentin, Annabelle, and Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.
She was a beautician, a 4-H leader and a Rainbow Mom. She was a member of the Oolitic Methodist Church, Solsberry Order of the Eastern Star #54, and Naomi and Rebekkah Lodge #91

Stapp - Mary Stapp of Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on October 31, 1928, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Palmer E. and Hattie (Rhue) Hodges.
Surviving are two daughters, April Collins of Bedford, IN, and Kim Vest and her husband, Michael, of Bloomfield, IN; one son, Jim Stapp and his wife, Deborah, of Indianapolis; one brother, Kenneth Hodges of Bedford, IN; five grandchildren: Allison Stapp, Kyle Collins, Stevie Collins, Jeremy Vest, and Stacy Lowry and her husband, Chad; two great-grandchildren, Gage and Gracie Lowry, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Bridwell; and two brothers, Eugene and Charles Hodges.
She was employed in the Lawrence County Court House for 45 years. She was first elected in 1979 as the County Assessor, served in various assessing positions within the Courthouse, and was currently the Deputy County Assessor. She was a member of the Community Baptist Fellowship, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Women's Republican Club.

Cummings - Joseph Cummings of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on January 4, 1928, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Roy and Ethel (Easton) Cummings. He married Esther Lucille Roach on December 9, 1950, and she died December 30, 2003.
Surviving are one son, Gerald Cummings of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Alice Striegel of Bloomington, IN, and Ethel Hardin and her husband, Kevin, of Bedford, IN; three brothers: Gene Cummings of Indianapolis, Leroy Cummings of Bedford, IN, and Larry Cummings of Oolitic, IN; two grandson, Joseph and Charles Hardin; two granddaughters, Adria Matlock and Andria Harmon; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother, Otis Cummings; one sister, Marie Pickett; and one great-grandson, Kory Ingle.
He retired from GM Central Foundry. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #440 and the Gulletts Creek Baptist Church.
Services for Joseph Cummings will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 28th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Lewis Williams officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Mundy - Minda Mundy of Huron, IN, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born on March 14, 1910, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Isaac and Nancy C. (Edwards) Johnson. She married Lester H. Mundy on February 14, 1927, and he died December 4, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters, Berndette J. Smith of Mitchell, IN, and Geneva Montgomery of Huron, IN; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Edmund R. Mundy; one daughter, Imogene Palmer; five sisters: Georgia Johnson, Annie Johnson, Nannie Byers, Maybelle Mundy, and Pearl Burton; five brothers: George, Harris, Claude, Fay, and Clyde Johnson; and one great-great-granddaughter, Gabrella Renee Mundy.
She was a matron at the Lawrence County Courthouse, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Huron Church of God.
Services for Minda Mundy will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 28, at Chastain Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Smooth and Paul Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in Port William Cemetery.
