Finley - Richard Garret Finley of Bedford, IN, died Friday, January 31, 2003, from injuries he received in an automobile accident on January 27th.  Born on September 24, 1977, in Bloomington, IN, he was the son of Sue Finley.

Surviving are one daughter, Shylie Alicea Finley; mother, Sue Finley of Bedford, IN; maternal grandparents, Richard L. and Alice Finley of Bedford, IN; and several aunts and uncles.

He operated a drill press at Indiana Steel.

Services for Richard Finley will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Jim Crane officiating.  Burial will follow in Leatherwood Christian Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Flynn - Paul Flynn of Bedford, IN, died Friday, January 31, 2003, at Hospitality House.  Born on September 17, 1905, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of David and Nellie (Mason) Flynn.  He married Una M. Kern on June 30, 1929, and she died December 27, 2001.

Surviving are one son, David Flynn and wife, Corrinna, of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Barbara Kelley and husband, Sulu, of Concord, NC; two brothers, Robert and Loren Flynn, both of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Grace Pate of Bedford, IN, and Mae Phillips of Indianapolis; one sister-in-law, Eunice Flynn of Mitchell, IN; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Paul "Eddie" Flynn; four brothers: Wilford, Laverne, Alva, and William Flynn; three sisters:  Mary Crawford, Jessie Meadows, and Lela Kern; and one grandson, J.D. Flynn.

He was employed at Bedford Foundry and Machine for thirty-six years and retired from Indiana Steel and Engineering.  He attended the First Wesleyan Church in Bedford.

Services for Paul Flynn will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 3rd, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Tilley officiating.  Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Tyree - Donald E. Tyree of Columbus, IN, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, January 30, 2003, at the Columbus Health and Rehab Center.  Born on October 12, 1927, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Cloudy and Nina (Guthrie) Tyree.  He married Annabelle Long on June 1, 1947, and she died on August 4, 1998.

Surviving are one son, Richard L. Tyree of Columbus, IN, and three grandsons:  Rich, Trevor, and Tanner Tyree, all of Columbus, IN.  He was preceded in death by wife.

He joined the Bedford Fire Department in 1951, was appointed fire chief in 1979, and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1995.  He was a graduate of Bedford High School and a veteran of WW II, serving with the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion Gillen Post #33, American Fire Association, National Chiefs Association, Bedford Elks Lodge #826, the Bedford Boat and Sportsman's Club, and attended the First Church of God.

Services for Don Tyree will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2nd, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Floyd Brick officiating.  Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from noon until the service time Sunday at the Day and Carter Mortuary.  The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Foundation.

Allen - Jack Lynn Allen of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at the Mesa Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, AZ.  Born on February 25, 1930 in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Harry C. and Mabel (Sipes) Allen.

Surviving are close companion, Adrienne (Hitchock) Savage of Mesa, AZ; two sons, Mark Lynn Allen and wife, Dorothy, of Bilbert, AZ, and Jack L. Kruger and family of Texas; two daughters, Suzanne C. Thomas and husband, David, of Tucson, AZ, and Stephanie Cobler and family of Texas; two sister, Marilyn Olson (twin) and Robert Lenz, both of Bedford, IN; one sister-in-law, Edna Allen of Florida; two grandchildren, Michell Allen and Danny Allen and wife, Amber, all of Gilbert, AZ; one great grandchild, three nieces, and three nephews.  He was preceded in death by his step-father, Lee Fisher, and one brother, Robert E. Allen.

He retired as a Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Army, where he had served as a pilot and a paratrooper, and was a 1948 graduate of Bedford High School.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bedford, Elks Lodge #826, Moose Lodge of Mesa, American Legion Gillen Post #33, and the Retired Officer Association.

Services for Jack Allen will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Robert Dailey officiating.  Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the honor guard from Ft. Knox, KY.  Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the service time Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. 

Ohr - Marjorie Marie Ohr of Bedford, IN, formerly of Toledo, OH, Indianapolis, and Ft. Wayne, IN, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, IN.  Born on January 11, 1921, in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of Harold and Mabel (Lenning) West.  She married Lloyd Baker in 1941, and he died in 1978.  She married Norman Ohr in 1962, and he died in 1983.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, the Revs. Diane and Jerry Zehr of Florence, KY, and Vivian and Scott Kaufman of Bedford, IN; one brother, Harold West of Toledo, OH; four grandchildren:  Jennifer Clouse of Carmel, IN, Lori Crouter of Essex, MD, Lauren and Nicholas Kaufman of Bedford, IN; and two great-grandchildren, Atticus and Colette Clouse of Carmel, IN.  She was preceded in death by both husband; two brother, William and Richard West; and one sister, Vivian West.

She had worked as a keypunch operator for Champion Spark Plug and Autolite, and the Waffle Factory Bakery, all in Toledo, OH.  She was a 1939 graduate of Libbey High School in Toledo, OH.  She was a member of the Bedford First Christian Church and former member of First Christian Church in Ft. Wayne and Augusta Christian Church in Indianapolis.

There will be private memorial services for Marjorie Ohr and burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery in Angola, IN.  There will be no visitation at the funeral home.  Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home is charge of the arrangments.

Bailey - Carl E. Bailey of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, January 23, 2003, at the Bloomington Hospital.  Born on January 28, 1936, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of William and Gladys (Whitted) Bailey.  He married Joan Norman on March 11, 1952, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are his father, William of Bedford, IN; five children:  Carla J. Bailey of Bedford, IN, Terry E. Bailey and Pam of Evansville, IN, Bryant D. Bailey and Amy of Saline, MI, April Leatherbury and Hugh of Hall, IN, and Robin Bailey and Laura of Bedford, IN; three brothers, Roger Bailey of Heltonville, IN, Duane and Denny Bailey, both of Bedford, IN; six sisters:  Verla Norman of Brownstown, IN, Marilyn Grissom of Ft. Myers, FL, Marian Bartlett of Heltonville, IN, Ingrid Ann Hornback of Greenwood, IN, Rita Gray of Vallonia, IN, and Shana Hobson of Bedford, IN; fifteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers, Lester and Ronnie Bailey.

He was a retired truck driver, a part-time driver for E&R Fabricating, and drove a bus for the Mitchell Community Schools Athletic Department.  He was a member of the First Church of God and the driver for the church bus.

Services for Carl Bailey will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1st, at the First Church of God in Bedford with Pastor Alan Reed officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadows Cemetery.  Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10 a.m. until the service time Saturday at the First Church of God.

Rollins - Freddie Lee Rollins of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at the Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born on August 20, 1930, in Jackson County, IN, he was the son of Fred and Hazel M. (Nicholson) Rollins.

Surviving are three brothers:  Don Rollins and Jerry Rollins, both of Freetown, IN, and Bill Rollins of Norman, IN; two sisters, Vona Hutchinson of Norman, IN, and Emma Jane Caswell of Williams, IN; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bernard and Larry Rollins; and one sister, Mary Alice Young.

He did concessions work and had attended Clearsprings High School.

Andis - Geneva E. Andis of Bedford, IN, died Monday, January 27, 2003, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born on August 27, 1924, in Monroe County, IN, she was the daughter of Harley and Mary Jane (Davis) Blake.  She married Ray A. Andis on November 15, 1941, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband of Bloomington, IN, are one son, Jerry C. Andis and wife, Linda, of East Oolitic, IN; three daughters:  Sandra M. Westerman, N. Sue George, and J. Denise Salmon and husband Mark, all of Bedford, IN; three brothers:  Lloyd Blake and wife, Dorothy, Kenneth Ray Blake and wife Barbara, all of Ellettsville, IN, and Harley Eugene Blake of Indianapolis; three sisters:  Bertha Andis of Springville, IN, Norma Jean Hacker and husband, Don of Clear Creek, IN, and Helen Blake of Bloomington, IN; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sons, Larry A. Andis and Hubert L. Andis; one brother, Hubert Blake; and two sisters, Ruth Ann Phillips, and Judy Blake.

She was an assembler at Essex in Orleans for fourteen years, retiring in 1979.  She was a member of Englewood Trinity Pentecost Church.

Sullivan - James H. Sullivan of Avoca, IN, died Monday, January 27, 2003, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born on June 14, 1934, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Charles and Dora (Reynolds) Sullivan.

Surviving are three brothers:  Wayne Sullivan of Avoca, IN, Johnny Sullivan and Raymond Sullivan, both of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Janice Roll of Fayetteville, IN, and Cathey Henderson of Avoca, IN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Robert Sullivan.

He worked in the area in construction and as a general handyman.

Kneisel - George G. Kneisel of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, January 26, 2003, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born on September 25, 1921, in Alberta, Canada, he was the son of Peter and Emma (Wyler) Kneisel.  He married Doris Adams on August 4, 1946, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters:  Terry Mull of Atlanta, GA, Vicki May of California, and Jamie Pestridge of Loveland, CO; one brother, Ernest Kneisel of Canada; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two sisters.

He was a chiropractor in Bedford, retiring after forty-eight years of practice.  He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F&AM, the Elks Lodge, the Eagles Lodge, and past president of the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce.

There will be a memorial service for George Kneisel at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Russ Sage officiating.  Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the service time Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.  The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions to the Little Theatre of Bedford or the White River Humane Society.

Hammel - Howard "Thomas" Hammel of Bloomington, IN, died Saturday, January 25, 2003, at his residence.  Born on August 17, 1954, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Dr. Howard T. and Betty Elizabeth (Hall) Hammel.  He married Agnes Phillips.

Surviving are one daughter, Jacinda C. Hammel of Auburn, AL; his mother, Betty Hammel of Bedford, IN; two brothers, Michael Hammel of Bloomington, IN, and Dr. Steve Hammel of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Emily M. Riebold of Milpitas, CA; and one half-brother, Rand Hammel of Springville, IN.  He was preceded in death by his father.

He was disabled.  He was a  1972 graduate of Bedford High School, a 1976 graduate of Purdue University, and attended the I.U. Medical School.  He was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church and the Bedford Masonic Lodge F&AM #14.

There will be a memorial service for Howard Hammel at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 31st, at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.  Friends may call from noon until the service time Friday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Center for Behavioral Health in Bedford.

May - Joanne May of Springville, IN, died Saturday, January 25, 2003, at the Bloomington Hospital.  Born on December 13, 1930, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Marlin and Nellie (Crane) Hert.  She married James W. May on March 2, 1951, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are three sons:  Steve May and wife, Patty, Alan May and wife, Karen, and Tom May, all of Springville, IN; one daughter, Rachel May of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Luella Pearson of Springville, IN, and Kathaleen Mitchell and husband, Charles, of Edinburgh, IN; and five grandchildren:  Paul May, Amy May, Brandy May, Tony May, and Than May.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Nolan Hert in 1983.

She was a librarian for several years at the Oolitic High School.  She had been a Pink Lady at Dunn Hospital, was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church, and was active in the Women's Missionary Circle and the Library Committee.

Services for Joanne May will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 28th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Kyle Witmer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Springville Christian Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Gilstrap - Rebecca A. Gilstrap of Bedford, IN, died Friday, January 24, 2003, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born on September 2, 1958, in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of Donald Max and Nancy (Doan) Reeves.  She married Edward "Gene" Gilstrap on March 3, 1979, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters:  Tia Hiles and husband, Shanon, of Mitchell, IN, Erin Speer and husband, Darren, of Chicago, IL, and Caitlin Gilstrap, at home; her parents of Mooresville, IN; two brothers, Tim Reeves, of Mooresville, IN, and Kevin Reeves and wife, Julie, of Plainfield, IN; maternal grandmother, Martha Doan of Mooresville, IN; and one granddaughter, Rylee Hiles of Mitchell, IN. 

She worked as a referral coordinator at the the Bedford Regional Medical Center for eleven years, and was an active member of First Assembly of God Church.

Services for Rebecca Gilstrap will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 27th, at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor John Dodd and Jeff Nikirk officiating.  Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 28th, at Fairview Cemetery.  Friends may call from 5 p.m. to the service time Monday at First Assembly of God Church.  Memorial contributions may be considered to First Assembly of God Church in Bedford.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Standiford - John Harold Standiford of Orleans, IN, died Friday, January 24, 2003, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center.  Born on April 20, 1922, in Orange County, IN, he was the son of Elmer and Elva (Robertson) Standiford.  He married Alberta A. (Wheeler) Collier on November 1, 1946, and she died July 12, 2001.

Surviving are one step-daughter, Shirley Diane Beyers of Bedford, IN; three step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife.

He was the owner of Stan's Sunoco in Newberry, a truck driver, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.  He was a member of the Living Water Church of God.

There will graveside services for John Standiford at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 27th, at Claysville Cemetery with Bro. David Grace officiating.  Graveside military rites will be accorded by members of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post #250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9107.  Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday at the Chastain Funeral Home.

Godsey - Paula M. Godsey of Williams, IN, died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at her residence.  Born July 26, 1972, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Paul King and Teresa (Andis) Turner.  She married Darren L. Godsey on November 5, 1994, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Lynnsie and Danae Godsey, both at home; one son, Terry Dean Godsey, at home; her mother and step-father, Teresa and Rick Turner of Williams, IN; her father and step-mother, Paul and Sharon King of Bedford, IN; one sister, Jodi Sims of Williams, IN; paternal grandmother, Juanita Turner of Bedford; maternal grandmother, Bertha Andis of Springville, IN; and several aunts and uncles.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lewis and Ruth King and Maynard Turner, and her maternal grandfather, Curtis Andis.

She was employed in the jewelry department at Wal-Mart in Bedford and was active in the Little League and Biddy Basketball at Fayetteville.  She attended the Silverville Missionary Baptist Church.

Services for Paula Godsey will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 27th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Rick Turner officiating.  Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.  Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Kennedy - Floanna Wagoner Kennedy of Mansfield, OH, died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at the Winchester Nursing Home in Ohio.  Born on October 17, 1918, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Emanuel and Daisy Wagoner.  She married Woodson C. Kennedy and he died in 1968.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law:  Rolan and Sharon Kennedy of Monroe, MI, and Joe and Brenda Kennedy of Mansfield, OH; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Eldridge and Emmert Wagoner; and four sisters:  Elvelma Stultz, Violet Anderson, Betty Daggy, and Ruth Wagoner.

She retired from Vic's Cleaners in 1982 and was a member of the Easter Star of Denham Spring, LA.

Services for Floanna Kennedy will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 27th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Jim Burks officiating.  Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Walker - Robert David Walker II, died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born on November 21, 1977, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Robert David and Joyce M. (Shoopman) Walker.

Surviving are one son, Andrew Joseph Barnett, at home; mother and step-father, Joyce M. and Greg Cooper of Mitchell, IN; father, Robert David Walker of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Lora Jane Walker of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Bryce Cooper of Mitchell, IN; grandparents, Robert F. Walker of Mitchell and Eulah June Wheeler of Crawfordsville, IN.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Evie Shoopman.

He was a carpenter and a member of the First Christian Church.

Carlson - Norman J. Carlson of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center.  Born on July 4, 1927, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Carl W. and Ethel (Bergstrom) Carlson.  He married Gertrude Swartz on December 18, 1948, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters:  Gale Carter of Indianapolis, Linda Carlson and Kathy Schroeder, both of Chicago, IL; one son, Howard Carlson of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Warren Carlson of Wheaton, IL; one sister, Mildred Maas of Rockford, IL; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son, James Carlson; one daughter, Carol Carlson; and one granddaughter, Stacy.

He joined Carpenter Body Works as an engineer in 1952, retired in 1987, and continued as a consultant at the Richmond plant until 1998.  He attended the University of Illinois, served in the U.S. Navy, and was a former member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.  He was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, treasurer of Orleans Baptist Brotherhood Association, a retired elder, trustee, and Sunday school teacher at Tulip Street Christian Church, and a charter member of the Bedford Camp of Gideons International.

Services for Norman Carlson will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26th, at the Tulip Street Christian Church with Bros. Danny Curry, Darrin Chastain, Eugene Pruett, and Wilfred Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post #250 and Marvin R. Green - Karen Sue (Weaver) Green of Bedford, IN, formerly of Terre Haute and Indianapolis, IN, died Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at Clarian Health-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Born on February 14, 1953, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of John R. and Dorothy (Kollman) Weaver.  She married Dr. Leonard J. Green III on November 12, 1977, in Indianapolis, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are her mother of Indianapolis; three daughters, Emily, Paige, and Anne Green, all of Bedford, IN; one brother, Larry Weaver of Greenwood, IN; one sister, Cathy Smith of Indianapolis; grandmothers, Viola (Overbiser) Kollman and Lenora (Piggott) Weaver Moore, both of Indianapolis.  She was preceded in death by her father.

She was a graduate of the Marion County General Hospital School of Nursing.  She was formerly employed at Wishard Memorial Hospital as a Neurology Department head nurse and at Chauncey Rose Middle School in Terre Haute as a teacher's aide in special education.  She was a Daisy and Brownie leader and volunteered for Shoe Bus and Show House for the Women's Club of Terre Haute.  She was a member of the Vigo County Medical Auxiliary, Culver Parents Association, and Bedford Regional Medical Center Foundation.

Speer - Mary A. (Tidd) Speer of Bedford, IN, died Monday, January 20, 2003, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born on January 12, 1904, in Jackson County, IN, she was the daughter of Charlie Spall and Elizabeth (Lambert) Spall.  She married Elza Tidd in 1922, and he died in 1952.  She married Earl Speer in 1955, and he died in 1974.

Surviving are one son, David Tidd of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Virginia Wallace of North Carolin and Eva Gould of Bedford, IN; six step-children:  Curtis (Roy) Speer of Bloomington, IN, Delbert Speer of Ft. Myers, FL, Gerald Speer of Mitchell, IN, Edward (Bud) Speer and Juanita Shepperd, both of Mitchell, IN, and Gail Connerley of Mitchell, IN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by both husbands; four sons:  Paul E. Tidd, Charles E. Tidd, Raymond Tidd, and Robert Perry Tidd; and five step-children:  Wilber Speer, Evert Speer, Jenevia Henderson, Edwin Jasper Speer, and Wilburn Speer.

She had been a cook at several restaurants, including the Homestead Restaurant for 7 1/2 years, and was the owner of Mary's Restaurant.  She was a member of Christ Temple Pentecostal Church.

Warren - Bobbie A. Warren of Bedford, IN, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, January 19, 2003, at his residence.  Born on May 19, 1935, in Livonia, IN, he was the son of Vallie A. and Mildred R. (Taylor) Warren.  He married Shirley A. Johnson on August 16, 1955, and she died December 15, 2000.  He married Connie G. Norrington on August 24, 2002, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Robert Scott Warren of Fayetteville, GA, and Gregory Gene Warren of Chicago, IL; one daughter, Jennifer Lea Hickam of Bloomington, IN; one step-daughter, Mindy Harris of Bloomington, IN; one brother, Don Warren of Paoli, IN; four grandchildren, and one step-grandson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and William Warren.

He retired in 1994 from Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane Division, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a 1953 graduate of Paoli High School.  He was a member of Woodville Baptist Church, Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post #250, a former member of the Mitchell Lions Club and JayCees, a founding member of the Mitchell City Park Board, supervised the construction of the Mitchell Community Building, and coached Little League several years.

Services for Bobbie Warren will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22nd at Chastain Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Hamer officiating.  Military honors will be accorded by members of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post #250 and Marvin R. Hawkins - Carolyn Joann Hawkins of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, January 18, 2003, at Bloomington Hospital.  Born on January 18, 1936, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Burl and Beatrice (Johnson) Covey.  She married Bert Hawkins on December 10, 1955, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Cherie Coursey of Bedford, IN; one son, Greg Hawkins of Bedford, IN; one sister, Margie Sallee of Bedford, IN; and one grandson, Tyson Coursey, serving with the U.S. Air Force.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a beautician and was a member of the Protestant faith.

Phillips - Ross Arthur Phillips of Mitchell, IN, formerly of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, January 18, 2003.  Born on June 29, 1911, in LaFarge, WI, he was the son of Henry and Anna (Fish) Phillips.  He married Georgia "Jo" Cornelius Peck on November 20, 1941, and she died November 3, 2001.

Surviving are one son, Richard A. Phillips and wife, Patricia, of Rockton, IL; two grandchildren, Kimatha A. Phillips Messenger and husband, Bob, and Elton A. Phillips and wife, Mary, all of Beloit, WI; one great-granddaughter, Heather Phillips of Beloit, WI; two sisters-in-law, Beulah Phillips of Beloit, WI, and Cleta Phillips of DesMoines, IA; one niece and her husband, Alene and Fred Gudgeon of LaFarge, WI; and one nephew, Daniel J. Phillips of Nashville, TN.  He was preceded in death by four brothers: Archie, Evan, Burford Phillips and one in infancy; and two sisters, Hazel Phillips and Gyneth (Carson) Lawrence.

He retired from Carpenter Body Work in 1977.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge #228 F&AM, Hoosier Hills Ham Radio Club, Mitchell F.O.P., NRA, Saddlebrook Country Club, and a former member of Mitchell Outdoor Sportsman's Club.  He participated in muzzle loader competitions for many years and in later life was an avid golfer.  He attended Jacob Finger United Methodist Church.

Services for Ross Phillips will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 24th, at Chastain Funeral Home with the Rev. Sproles - Jared Scott Sproles, infant son of James Scott and Denise Ann (King) Sproles, was stillborn on January 18, 2003, at Bloomington Hospital.

Surviving with the parents of Oolitic, IN, are one sister, Sydney Mae Sproles; maternal grandfather, Hugh King; paternal grandparents Jim and Carolyn Sproles of Bedford, IN; paternal great-grandmother, Mary E. Michael - Gary L. Michael of Bedford, IN, died Friday, January 17, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Born on February 7, 1947, in Terre Haute, IN, he was the son of Floyd and Dorothy (Tilford) Michael..  He married Sandra Louise Fagg on August 23, 1969, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Eric Alan Michael of Indianapolis, IN; one brother, Dennis Michael of Terre Haute, IN; and one sister, Melinda Knuppel of West Windsor, NJ.

He received bachelor ad master degrees from Indiana State University and was a vocal music teacher, having taught in Monticello and from 1973 to the present at Mitchell Junior and Senior High Schools.  He served 25 years as director of the Varsity Singers.  He was a deacon, newly elected moderator, choir member, and former adult Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Mitchell.  He was a member of Gideon International, Music Educators Association, National Education Association, Indiana State Teachers Association, and a former member of the Mitchell Rotary Club.

There will be a Celebration of Life service for Gary Michael on Saturday, January 25th, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mitchell with the Rev. Mark Pittman officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Chastain Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon International.

Stephenson - Lowell Dale Stephenson of Bedford, IN, died Friday, January 17, 2003, at his residence.  Born on February 21, 1947, he was the son of Earl S. and Helen (Durbin) Stephenson.

Surviving are one brother, Louis Stephenson and wife, Judy, of Bedford, IN; one niece, Lois (Stephenson) Wright and husband, Monty, of Bedford, IN; one nephew, Louis Stephenson Jr. and wife, Jenny, of Bedford, IN; one aunt and several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in infancy.

He was employed at Fastmax in Bloomington and a Vietnam veteran serving in the First Cavalry Division in the U.S. Army and was awarded a Purple Heart.  He attended Dive Christian Church.

George - Louie D. George of Williams, IN, died Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born on September 9, 1917, in Martin County, IN, he was the son of Willard and Addie (Shoemaker) George.  He married Josephine Elllen Webster on June 6, 1936, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Patty Grissom of Bedford, IN; one sister, Gladys Sargent of Bedford, IN; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He retired from Stone City Construction and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II.

Pemberton - James Edward Pemberton of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, January 13, 2003, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born on April 16, 1954, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of James H. and Hazel (Gilbert) Pemberton.  He married Sheila Tuell on June 16, 1978, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are his father and mother of Mitchell, IN; two sons, Timothy and Thomas Pemberton of Mitchell, IN; five brothers:  Mike, Andy, Sam, Clark, and Mark Pemberton, all of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Ila Freeman of Mitchell, IN; and one daughter-in-law, Crystal Pemberton of Mitchell, IN;

He was a self-employed carpet installer and was a member of The Bride of Christ Fellowship in Mitchell.

Isom - Warren Rex Isom of Bryn Mawr, PA, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, January 11, 2003, in Bryn Mawr.  Born on June 8, 1910, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of John and Mollie (Trowbridge) Isom.  He married Ruth Harrison on June 6, 1935, and she died on January 6, 2002.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Warren Richard and Cynthia Isom of Havertown, PA, and John Harrison and Harriet Isom of Hummelstown, PA; one sister, Thelma Burton of Bedford, IN; and three grandchildren:  Corrine Isom, Hendrick Isom, and Peter Isom.  He was preceded in death by his wife; six brothers:  Gay, Carl, Lowell, Willie, Opal, and Stephen Escoe Isom; and six sisters:  Hazel Sanders, Pansy Isom, Lucille Isom, Osa Sanders, Avis King, and Roxie Riggs.

He had earned a bachelor's degree from Butler University and a master's degree from George Washington University and had attended Harvard University and was a veteran of World War II.  Upon returning from World War II he worked for RCA in Indianapolis and New Jersey, retiring in 1976 as Chief Engineer of the Record Division.  After his retirement he returned to Mitchell, IN.  He had numerous patents to his name and received highest honors from a number of professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Audio Engineering Society, and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.  He was also active in a number of industry bodies, including serving as chairman of the U.S. Delegation to the International Recording Standards Association.

Mathis - Marilyn Faye Mathis of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, January 11, 2003, at her residence.  Born on April 6, 1938, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Doyle and Mamie (Fleetwood) Turpin.  She married James Hackney, who preceded her in death.  She married Robert Mathis on December 13, 1981, in Lawrence County, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Mars. Ralph (Debbie) Van Meter of Bedford, IN; one step-son, Bruce Cobb of Williams, IN; one brother, Marshall Turpin of Bedford, IN; one sister, Frieda Ross of Culver City, CA; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

She worked at Spring Mill State Park in housekeeping and attended the Fayetteville Baptist Church.

There will be graveside services for Marilyn Mathis at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 14th, at the Mundell Cemetery.  There will be no visitation hours at the funeral home.  Friends may consider memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Norman - Roberta Ellen Norman of Heltonville, IN, died Saturday, January 11, 2003, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born on July 12, 1931, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of George Washington and Catherine (Manzenberger) Covey.  She married John E. Norman on July 12, 1947, in Lawrence County, IN, and he died in 1979.

Surviving are her mother, Catherine Covey of Bedford, IN; three sons:  John Terry Norman of Bedford, IN, Dale Norman of Bartlettsville, IN, and David Norman of Watauga, TN; one daughter, Alicia Vodde of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; and one brother, George Covey.

She was a homemaker and retired from Hill's Department Store in Bloomington, where she worked as a cashier.  She was a member of Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene.

Qualkenbush - Trena Mae Balwin Qualkenbush of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, January 11, 2003, at the Bloomington Hospital.  Born on April 27, 1959, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Kenneth E. and Lovetta M. (Mikels) Baldwin.  She married Alton Qualkenbush on June 11, 1988, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are her parents of Bedford, IN; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Eddie Brooking of Oolitic, IN; three brothers and sisters-in-law:  Gary and Karen Baldwin of Bedford, IN, Dale and Sharon Baldwin and Denny and Tina Baldwin, all of Norman, IN; three nephews, six nieces, one great-nephew, and two great-nieces; one uncle, Kenneth Eugene Mikels and his wife, Norma, of Springfield, MO; two aunts, Mildred Bailey of Heltonville, IN, and Frieda Wright of Hemet, CA; and several cousins residing in Lawrence County, IN, Springfield, MO, and Hemet, CA, including one cousin, Donna Clements Carner who was raised with Trena as a sister.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Baldwin.

She was active in the Heltonville Veteran Affairs and enjoyed genealogy, painting, and her dogs.

Tumey - Ruby D. McPike Tumey of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, January 11, 2003, at the St. Vincent Hospice Center in Indianapolis.  Born on August 19, 1919, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Gilbert and Ruth (Anderson) McPike and the step-daughter of Jesse McPike.  She married Morris J. Tumey on August 17, 1941, and he died on December 4, 1989. 

Surviving are two daughters, Beth Ellison of Bedford, IN, and Debra Westenberger of West Bend, WI; one son, Mark J. Tumey of Indianapolis; one sister, Mildred Watson of Bloomington, IN; two brothers, Jerry D. McPike and Larry J. McPike, both of Bedford, IN; ten grandchildren:  James E. Ellison, Jennifer L. Ramo, Caron Gwen Parke, Matt J. Tumey, Denise Tumey, Annette Williams, Molly Westenberger, Erin Westenberger, Katelyn Westenberger, and Kyle Westenberger; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron Ellison and Meredith Ellison.  She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter in infancy, Lynnette Tumey; and one sister, Betty J. Jones.

She was a homemaker and a devout Christian.

Chastain - Liana S. Chastain of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, January 10, 2003, at her residence.  Born on December 20, 1961, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Ed and Arlene (Clifton) Potts.  She married Glenn Robbins of Orleans, IN.

Surviving are two daughters, Amber Robbins and Brittnee Robbins, both of Bedford, IN; one son, Matthew Robbins of Orleans, IN; her parents of Bedford, IN; one brother, Kenneth Potts of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Linda Melvin of Bedford, IN, and Kathy Qualkenbush of Orleans, IN; and her paternal grandmother, Louise (Potts) Ira of Bedford, IN.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Cecil Potts; and her maternal grandparents, Wesley and Lorene Clifton.

Graveside services were conducted for Liana Chastain on January 13th at Beech Grove Cemetery.  Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Hearth - Jerry D. Hearth of Bloomington, IN, died Friday, January 10, 2003, at Bloomington Hospital.  Born on June 3, 1942, in Avoca, IN, he was the son of Andrew and Juanita (Lewis) Hearth.  He married Doretta Gregory on December 31, 1062, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Brenda Arthur and Carmen Jones, both of Bedford, IN; one son, J.D. Hearth of Bloomington; one brother, Larry Hearth of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Betty Edwards of Ellettsville, IN; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one niece, and five nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Diana; and one sister, Mary Hearth.

He worked as a heavy assembler for Thompson Consumer Electronics.

Ollis - Sally M. Ollis of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, January 10, 2003, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born on April 6, 1926, in Quentin, KY, she was the daughter of James and Thelma (Mayfield) East.  She first married Lyle B. Root on August 27, 1954, and he died on August 27, 1968.  She married James Ollis on September 21, 1976, and he died on March 18, 1991.

Surviving are one daughter, Margaret Weber of Mitchell, IN; five brothers:  James East of Martinsville, IN, Frank East of Fayetteville, IN, Carl East of Bedford, IN, Cecil East of Bedford, IN, and Terry East of Mitchell, IN; three sisters:  Ruby East and Carolyn East, both of Bedford, IN, and Opal Lee Patrick of Sacramento, CA; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one brother in infancy, R. M. East; one sister, Etta Jean East.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mitchell.

McGregor on January 5, 1952, and he died November 21, 1995.

Surviving are one grandson, John Stratton of Canada; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Stratton; one brother, Doyle Louden of Seattle, WA; one sister, Lois Darlage of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; one sons, Donald Stratton; three brothers:  Herman, Roy, and Price Louden; and one sister, Alma Louden.

She retired from Central Foundry in Bedford and was a member of the Free Methodist Church, the U.A.W. Local #440, and the Garden Club.

Ball - Mildred Jeanette Ball of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday at Bloomington Hospital.  Born on August 11, 1924, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Gaylous and Winnie (Bozoarth) Easton.  She married Floyd Ball in February, 1958, in Bedford, IN, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are two sisters, Phyllis Miller of Bedford, IN, and Ann Henderson of Columbus, IN; one brother, Warren Easton of Springville, IN; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Russell Easton.

She was a homemaker.

Shawver - Janet S. Shawver of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, January 7, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Born on October 23, 1948, in Medora, IN, she was the daughter of Harley and Mary Baker.  She married David M. Shawver on December 1, 1974, and he died on September 5, 2001.

Surviving are her mother, Mary, of Medora, IN; one daughter, Amy Shawver of North Dakota; one son, Seb Shawver of Evansville, IN; one brother, Roger Baker and his wife, Stevie, of Sedora, IN; one half-brother, Bob Baker of California; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Emagene and Walter Shawver of Bloomfield, IN; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father and her husband.

She was a registered nurse for more than thirty years with the Bedford Regional Medical Center.

Bridwell - Geraldine Bridwell of Inverness, FL, formerly of Martin and Lawrence Counties, IN, died Sunday, January 5, 2003, in Inverness.  Born on September 15, 1918, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Ira Edward and Malinda Ellen (McCall) Webster.  She married Russell T. Bridwell in 1935, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Thomas L. Bridwell; three sisters:  Ruth (Curley) Wray of Mitchell, IN, Josephine (Jo) George of Williams, IN, and Bernice Williams of Odon, IN; three grandchildren, Kevin Bridwell of Bedford, IN, Rick Bridwell of Perdio Key, FL, and Tammy Altizer of Glouster, WV; eight great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Alberta Mattingly and Alta Ritchey; and five brothers:  Ira (Jr.) Webster, Rex Webster, Haskell Webster, Harley Webster, and Denver Webster; and one infant daughter, Carolyn Sue Bridwell.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Nazarene faith.

There will be memorial services for Geraldine Bridwell at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Kevin Bridwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Trinity Springs Cemetery in Shoals.  Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service time Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.  The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Harrison - James S. Harrison of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, January 5, 2003, at the Hospitality House.  Born on November 4, 1920, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Bert and Hattie (Bunch) Harrison.  He married Dovie Sowders in February, 1944, and she died on August 28, 1994.

Surviving are one daughter, Norma L. Harrison of Bedford, IN; two sons, Max S. Harrison of Michigan City, IN, and Mark J. Harrison of Bedford, IN; one sister, Nancy Hancock of Silverville, IN.  He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, and one sister.

He was a retired maintenance worker for Indiana University and was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II.

There will be graveside services for James Harrison at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8th, at Dive Cemetery with Pastor Steve Goens officiating and graveside military rites accorded by members of American Legion Gillen Post #33.  Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Monyhan - Gladys B. Monyhan of Orleans, IN, died Sunday, January 5, 2003, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO.  Born on May 22, 1921, at Orleans, IN, she was the daughter of William Arkus and Mary Elta (Chastain) Jones.  She married Ralph Monyhan, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Linda Elliott of Springfield, MO; three sons:  Rex William Monyhan of Huron, IN, Robert Monyham of Orleans, IN, and David Ray Monyhan of Port Charlotte, FL; one sister, Pearl Fulkerson of Bedford, IN; twelve grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

She was a homemaker and was of Protestant faith.

Services for Gladys Monyhan will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 10th, at Haverly Mortuary with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Orleans.  Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, and from 8:30 a.m. until the service time Friday at Haverly Mortuary.

Browning - Marie Sylvia Browning of Bedford, IN, died Friday, January 3, 2003, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born on August 19, 1912, in Oolitic, IN, she was the daughter of Charles and Ella (Robbins) Morris.  She married Samuel W. Clubb on February 14, 1934, and he died October 27, 1947.  She then married Kenneth W. Browning on December 24,4 1952, and he died August 29, 1981.

Surviving are one daughter, Janet Redgers and her husband, Morris, of Bedford, IN; one grandson, Sam Scott and his wife, Cindy, of Bedford, IN; two great-granddaughters, Amber Scott Bubalo and husband, Michael, of LaPorte, IN, and Tiffany Scott Edwards of Bedford, IN; two great-great-granddaughters, Savannah M. and Mackenzie Bubalo; Cheryl Edward and husband, Vernon, and daughter, Brittany, of Bedford, IN; sister-in-laws, Shirley Kindred and husband, Bob, and Gladys Chasain and husband, Curt; brother-in-law, John Browning.  She was preceded in death by both husbands, two sisters, one brother, and one grandson, Mike Scott in 1986.

She retired from RCA in Bloomington and was a retired registered practical nurse.  She was a member of Southland Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Marie Browning will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Bud Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Cresthaven Mausoleum.  Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Sullivan - Harold W. Sullivan of Bedford, IN, died Friday, January 3, 2003, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Born on June 14, 1925, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Clarence and Lucinda (Stillions) Sullivan.  He married Patricia Isabelle Dalton in 1970, and she died on Oct. 1, 1980.

Surviving are two step-sons, William H. Bunch and Danny Bunch, both of Bedford, IN; twp step-daughters, Kathy Owen of Orleans, IN, and Pat Bell of Bedford, IN; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and one sister-in-law, Juanita Sullivan of Bedford, IN.  He was preceded in death by his wife and one granddaughter, Lisa Bunch.

He retired from Hatfield Scrap Iron, was a U.S. Navy veteran and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He was of Protestant faith.

There will be graveside services for Harold Sullivan at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7th, at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.  Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Goen - M. Keith Goen of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, January 2, 2003, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on November 21, 1936, in Vallonia, IN, he was the son of John H. and Bessie (Emmons) Goen. He married Velma East on November 28, 1954, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Marta Goen Vice and her husband, Mark, of Bedford, IN, and Brenda Goen Abercrombie and her husband, Bowie, of Ashburn, VA; one son, Michael Keith Goen and his wife, Jennifer, of Nicholasville,  KY;  one brother, Robert Goen of Norman, IN; one sister, Reva Pearson of Seymour, IN; and seven grandchildren:  Jordan and Morgan Vice, Juliann and Jennifer Abercrombie, Jessica, Hailey and Christian Goen.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He retired from Indiana Gas Co. as a welder and was currently employed at the Times-Mail.  He was a member of the Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene, where he served as a board member, trustee, and former Sunday School Superintendent and also a member of the Work & Witness Missionary Team.

Service for Keith Goen will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating.  Burial will follow in Leatherwood Christian Cemetery.  Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. until the service time Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.  The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions to the Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.

Hackney - Linda Sue Hackney of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, January 2, 2003, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.  Born on October 27, 1941, in Michigan City, IN, she was the daughter of Harold "Hap" and Jeanette (Elkins) Davis.  She married William Hackney on December 12, 1959, in Crown Point, IN, and he died on June 21, 1984.

Surviving are one son, Michael Hackney of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Missy Underwood of Orleans, IN; three sisters:  Stephanie Gaither of Lapel, IN, Rita Holshaw of Fortville, IN, and Lori Davis of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Terry Davis of Florida and Michael Davis of Oklahoma; and five grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She formerly worked at ITT Plastics of Medora, IN.

Deer - Linda Sue Henderson Deer of Springville, IN, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at her residence.  Born on June 12, 1947, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of William E. and Josephine (Blackwell) Henderson.  She married Phillip Deer on September 1, 1967, in Indianapolis, IN, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Jennifer Myers of Springville, IN, and Jaimee Deer Strunk and husband, Alvin, of Bedford, IN; one brother, Larry Henderson of Venice, FL; three granddaughters, Caitlin and Kelsey Myers of Springville, IN, and Jordan Strunk of Bedford, IN; and one grandson, Daniel Strunk of Bedford, IN.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A 1968 graduate of the Purdue School of Nursing, she had worked at Dunn Memorial Hospital and Hospitality House in Bedford and at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis.

Services for Linda Deer will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. James McDowell officiating.  Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Friday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are directed to the American Cancer Society.

Wilson - Fred E. Wilson, Sr. of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, January 1, 2003, at his residence.  Born on February 25, 1921, in Lawrence County, IN (Chapel Hill area), he was the son of Thomas Fred and Pearl (Smith) Wilson.  He married Helen F. Brostowski on May 11, 1945, in New York City, and she died January 30, 1992.  He then married Madeline, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are three sons:  Fred E. Wilson, Jr. New York, NY, Charles Thomas Wilson and his wife, Rowena, of Silverville, IN, and John Peter Wilson of Bedford, IN; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his step-father, Charles Gwin of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both wives; and one son, Robert Carl Wilson on July 23, 1992.

He was retired from Central Foundry (GM Powertrain) and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of the V.F.W. in Oolitic and the American Legion Gillen Post #33.

Services for Fred Wilson will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 6th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33.  Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Monday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
