Butterflies Everywhere!
Butterflies have a certain fascination for young and old alike, and there are so many beautiful kinds to see! This is the month to plan for a yard full of those butterflies to watch during the summer. First of all, you might plant a Butterfly Garden because there are certain plants and flowers that the butterflies really like. Having a garden like this is a good science project for the summer because you can learn all about the plants and how to care for them. Then when the butterflies start to visit your garden, you may learn about the life cycle of the butterfly. Perhaps trying to raise butterflies would interest some of you older readers. The Butterfly Website has all the information you need to help you with a project like this--from gathering the eggs to building the houses for them to live in. Ask a friend or a group of friends to join you in this project. Form a Butterfly Club. Keep a diary of your work on this project during the summer. It might even become a science project or maybe the subject for a story at school next year. Become a butterfly watcher and keep a log of what kind of butterflies visit your yard. Get ready now for a summer full of learning and fun!
